Invalid partition table on laptop - General Topics

Hello. I have a laptop with dual boot system, opensuse 11.2 and windows xp in the same hard disk.
I tried to remove suse doing the following :
Ι loaded windows xp cd and get in recovery console. After that i did Fixmbr and fixboot.
After that, after the bios screen, i get a black sceen with the message "invalid partition table"
If i type a "dir" command i can see my files, so the disks partiotions are not corrupted i guess. Just the MBR is damaged. I need help guys on how to restore my system.

Can't I create usb recovery disk

Hi
I got Surface RT second hand. And I can't reset it.
If I use Setting > General > Remove everything and reinstall windows
It says missing some file
If I use to create recovery driver
The option "Copy the recovery partition from PC to recovery drive" is grey I can't select this option.
and after I pressed next it says "some require files are missing".
When open Disk Management
It found 4 partitions
C:
Recovery (300MB) no letter
EFI Sytem (200MB) no letter
Recovery (3.25 GB) no letter
I can't assign drive letter via Disk Management.
I use diskpart to assign drive letter.
It has 3 file inside
- install.win
- ResetConfig
- CreatePartition-UEFI
How can I use them for recovery? I copy 3 files to flashdrive but can't boot via Surface.
Is Anyone can upload recovery image for me?
I really need to reset my Surface.
Thank you and sorry for my bad english.
Can any one upload recovery usb image with or without install.wim file?
Why don't you ask Surface support? ?? Won't they send you a img?

Check with google
Backtrack or Kali Linux distributions will boot from USB or CD and come with tools for 'data recovery' that maybe able to help. If the data that you want to recover has been written over by other data; then things can be a little tougher. The best stuff for doing what I think you want to do is going to run in a terminal window not a GUI, so hopefully you're comfortable with the command line
Let me know if I need to be more specific and I'll see about adding better instructions, otherwise, google up some 'forensic data or drive recovery or imaging' software for one of the above suggested distributions and you should be able to recover the important stuff.

Try loading any linux from usb and download testdisk recovery tool its a cross platform supported program that saved me many times. Google for testdisk and how to use it.Hope this helps.

I'm back from helping someone else with something similar. Had an sdcard go out, saying "damaged sd" and here is how they recovered nearly all the data...
From Backtrack Linux...
dd was able to make a forensic image of the SD card, and testdisk was able to show and save unlinked files from the image file, so we were able to get all her photos and videos back!

The "unlinked" files when scrolling through should have the first two characters or letters messed up, and the link provided should have directions on how to recover lost data. The thing to do is "dd" as this will make a full copy of everything to another drive, this will alow you to try different methods of recovery on the copy without risking the original drive.
Hope you get it all back

Help! SP3 Reset Your PC "Unable to reset PC. A required drive partition is missing."

Help! SP3 Reset Your PC "Unable to reset PC. A required drive partition is missing."
Hi everyone, I have a Surface Pro 3 and i made a huge mistake today. I was messing around with EasyBCD and NeoGrub trying to get android to dualboot on my surface, besides the point. I went to delete my bad boot entries and accidentally deleted all of my BCD files.
I figured i could reinstall windows 10 and that didn't work because the drive was locked?.
I wiped the drive in CMD prompt and i cant figure out what to do to get my surface to allow me to re install windows.
Where i am:
I have a recovery USB but when i try to Reset my pc i get an error "Unable to reset your PC. A required drive partition is missing."
I cant refresh because "the drive where Windows is installed is locked. Unlock the drive and try again." plus im pretty sure i have reformatted my drive already.
I am good with computers but not great and i dont want to do anymore damage.
Can anyone walk me through the steps needed to remake the partition to get windows to allow me to use the "Reset your PC" option. I do not care about lost data.
howd you fix this?

URGENT• Windows 8.1 rt unable to reset via USB help

I needed to do a reset using a
USB recovery image on my surface RT since i can't pass the surface logo when powered on
So I downloaded the recovery image for my surface from the surface website,
At the end of the download a message popped up saying that install.wim is corrupt. I downloaded it again and same happened.
I followed the instructions after extracting the zip file onto the usb (which i bought earlier just for this purpose and has 16gb and FAT32 formatted) And the install.wim wasn't copied into it.
When i reached to the troubleshoot option there was only 3 options; refresh. Reset. Advanced options.
When i hit refresh it says: the drive where windows is installed is locked. Unlock and try again.
When i hit reset= unable to reset, a required drive partition is missing.
Please help ASAP I need it to continue my studying
