HTC SENSE horrible email tab - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Themes and Apps

Hey guys, just wondering if there are any mods or replacements for the email tab in sense, because it's so so damn aweful
I've seen a heap of mods focussed on SMS's and the SMS display inside the current energyroms are great, but the email still looks like arse, and when you look at it in that stupid flippy page it's completely useless because it doesn't mark emails as read... is there any way to put the full email inboxes (and possibly the sms inbox on the sms tab) from outlook (like the normal ugly microsoft ones that are at least useful, if not the prettiest display of emails) (activesync) or imap account inboxes so that they show up directly in the email tab instead of having to delve into the inbox from that screen all the time?

Awful? LOL. I think it's awesome. I would die to get my sms to show like in the email tab.

thats something HTC could have done
I would really love to.. but it might be heavy and slow.

It looks good, but thats about it.
Things that should have been there from day 1
1. Dedicated reply/replyall/forward key somewhere on the interface on the email tab
2. Mark all as read, on the email page
3. 1 click or maybe a
4. option to view just a list of items in the inbox within the sense tab instead of 1 at a time...
Maybe I should make a sense mod...

I just want a delete button in Sense.
I am subscribed to a lot of mailing lists and want to delete some of those e-mails by just looking at the heading of the mail.
I have sometimes seen a delete button in sense, but as soon as you go to the next mail it disappears, to never come back.
So in short I want mail to work like SMS tab.

Marking Mail as Read

Anyone able to think of a way to have it so that messages would be marked as read when previewed in TF3D (similar to text messages)? Sometimes I've already read an email, or it's short, or it's not something I care about and would rather not have to open the message to mark it as read.
Thanks.
use flex mail it is much better than the standard outlook and you can mark mail's sms's as read or unread...you'll never go back to outlook again
I've actually heard good things about FlexMail before. My only concern is that I really do like TF3D, can FlexMail replace Outlook for the mail tab and still work with the fancy (lol) previews and such?
you can try Samapa programe to change the default tmail.exe to flexmail i never tried it..but i tried and changed successfuly the all contacts soft key in touch flo to open icontact and the calender button on the home tab to thumbcal ..so try it and let me know what happens
I'm sorry... Samapa? Google'd to no avail (well, as far as phone-relevant things go).

I think I am going to chicken out and not try it. Other than sounding a bit complicated (maybe just because I am a noob on my first WInMo device), but I also don't see anything where it would be able to maintain the preview functionality (and allow that preview to mark the message as read, which is my actual "issue" or whatever).
Thanks though!
I'd also love to be able to mark emails as read from the TouchFlo preview pane, without opening up the mail app (whether that's Outlook or something else). I do like the idea of the preview, but it would make a significant difference if I could use it to mark unimportant and short emails as read in one step.
Anyone?

Email Inbox View..

I am wondering.. i recieve quite a few emails throughout the day and at some point i like to go back to specific mail i recieved earlier and re-read it.. when i open the inbox to show all my mail, i am wondering if there was a way to change the way i view the actual inbox on my device? I am looking for something similar to the blackberry look where it only takes up one line instead of a few that way i can see more emails in the inbox without having to scroll down?
Thanks for any help.
i just looked through the menus and didn't see anything :\
Yeah unfortunately theres no option to change it.. I thought there may be some kind of tweak or hack that you can you perform to change it to some kind of list format
Email Inbox View
I heard there are alternative e-mail programs you can run on your device that will give you more of a " outlook feel ", with pre-view pane, etc
Anybody know what they are called and where to find them, I think something like that would solve everybodies problem
profimail and flexmail are 2 mail-clients i know. both are commercial but worth their price
my friend has a diamond on sprint and i saw his message box was sort of zoomed out and smaller. any idea on how to get something like that?
EDIT: FOUND IT! Go to start, settings, system, screen, text size and change the text size to make more emails show up in your inbox not a fix for the issue at hand but it made me happy

HD2 Email preview ????!!!!!!!!!

Does anyone know if its possible for the HTC email preview app to show messages as read in notification icon on bottom, once you flicked through messages - as its possible in SMS preview?
How stupid of HTC to have overlooked this !

Hear, hear! I agree totally. This drives me nuts.
Can't one of you modders or theme developers fix this, rather than just concentrating on re-jigging the home screen visuals??

Yes this was one of the features I was most happy about in my HTC S740 (with WM6.1). I was able to preview and dismiss individual e-mail notifications from both exchange and other e-mail accounts. And I was even able to tell notifications from Exchange apart from other Email accounts.
The HTC Sense is a huge step back here...
The small green circle in the bottom is only telling how many unread messages there are in my inboxes. Not useful - should have shown how many new mails which have not been previewed.
Anybody know of any notification application that might help?
I want one 2, to bad I aint a winmo developer:/.
I posted the same question here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=626627
Although its not fixed - there is a semi-decent solution available! Take a look

Yes it is a good try... but marking all emails as read will (in exchange) also mark the emails as read on the server. Other users with access to the same mailbox will accidentally believe, that someone is taking action on the "read"-marked mail.
And that includes me as well. Often I preview an email on the phone and then decides to not take action on it and wait until I am sitting with my work pc. If it is marked as read I could accidentally think, that I had already attended to the email.
WM 6.1 and WM 6.5 can natively dismiss new emails - but keep the emails unread. Why can't HTC Sense do that?

[REQ] Mark emails as read in Sense 2.5

Hello.
Is it possible to mark an email as read in Sense 2.5? If I read an new SMS in Sense the '1' next to the SMS logo disappears after a few seconds. Is it possible to have this same feature on the emails tab? My work email syncs every hour so I sometimes have up to 10 new emails to read at a time.
If I could view them on the 'paper' Sense Tab then have the mail I'm reading be marked as read as I flick to the next email that would be great.
Any ideas?
I'd like to see this too.... and, I'd also like to see a Delete icon on the side so I don't have to open the message first to delete it.
Here Here..
Wouldn't be a problem if i didn't have 300 e-mails a day...
This would be a very handy feature for me too.
Can anyone shed some light on this? it seems like it could be useful for a number of people
this feature should've been in place since TF3D 1.0
we have the option to delete emails now with manila 2.5.2011, but mark as read would be a wonderful addition to that
Hi, if sense should mark the e-mails as read in just a flick... would not that make the possibility of missing a mail on youre office pretty big?
If one of the mails you where reading just as 50 new mails where popping in and the sense could not show it because there where to many e-mails to show up. just a thought...

Nah - that's not a legit reason for the feature not being there.... it needs to be in there.
is this (attached) what you mean?
(I use it, veeeeery handy )
what it does, is add an extra submenu item called "Mark all as read"
i didn't code it, not sure who did. credits go to him/her.

HI yes that is very good - and funnily enough, I just found and installed in about 3 minutes ago! This is useful fix and will def come in handy.
Would be nice if you could have it in the manila menu as a flick like the sms, but that features absence, this is the next best thing.
Good call, dXsL!
Funny enough, after applying this (Manila 2.5.20121225), i did not get the read-all option in manila, but the read-all option in the standard Inbox is gone.
Is there a fix for this yet in Manila?
A button above/under the new email button at the Manila Mail tab for "Mark all as read" would be the best!
Or a button at the Manila menu with "Mark all as read".
I've searched so long now but it looks like it is impossible to find. While I think that thousends of people have this "problem". I don't understand why this function isn't included.

That works great if you're in the in-box, but the OP (and I) want to be able to mark a message or mark all as read WITHOUT leaving sense to go to the Outlook in-box. Has anyone figured out how to do that?

A very key missing feature from Android...

First off I love my GNex... such a great phone and I love Android. However there is one feature missing that is probably keeping it from being used more in business. That feature is per folder notification. What I mean by that is if you have an exchange account configured on your phone and in your Mailbox you have a rule to move email from certain senders to a certain folder you will not get any sort of notification that you have received that email (yes the folder is set for Push Sync). If you check your email and click on your account name at the top you can see if there are emails as they do sync and show how many unread messages are in that folder so the possibility is there.
It seems like such a simple fix for something that would have a large impact. I had 2 co-workers all set to get an android phone and when i told them about this limitation one got an iPhone and the other is going to wait for the Windows 8 phones.
I am aware there are third party apps (not cheap) that supposedly provide this feature (touchdown) but aside from providing that feature I havent heard great things about them (and all seem to negatively affect battery life).
I was really hopeful that it would be addressed in JB but it still remains untouched after all these versions

Have you tired Tasker?
Oh I'm aware there are apps that can help you with this but it should be a core functionality of the email.apk.
More apps doing stuff means worse battery life and more to backup/restore. Its hard to sell to business customers when their argument is "well with the iPhone it just works"
that's one thing that I really miss from my TP2 running winmo is the "persistent notifications" (that's what I call them anyhow). If you dismiss the notification in the curtain on android then its just gone. My old TP2 would show notification bubbles anywhere and everywhere you could think of.
if you had a text it would show on the text icon, if you were looking through your contacts it would show notification bubbles for text/call/email right on the contact info
i guess gmail.apk has that

widgetlocker & tesla unread is the closest I've come to some of the old winmo functionality

Many custom launchers (Nova, Apex, etc) give you the option of showing unread counts on the icons of apps such as SMS, Gmail, etc. Those shouldn't disappear when you dismiss notifications, so that would at least solve half your problem!

If I was on an ICS+ rom that would be more helpful, but it's something to look forward to at least. Although none them seem to have that feature for standard email which is where I miss it most.
I'll have to check out holo because I believe it at least does the same sms and calls.

I did this with LauncherPro back when I was on Android 2.3, so I'm guessing it should work with that for you?
