Cube - General Questions and Answers

I know there is a ton of these, but none of them work for me at all. I think the touchflo cube is really annoying and unessesary for me. I have everything i need in the spb shell. anyway, when i try to slide my finger from top to bottom to change the screen (in spb shell) or from side to side, half the time the cube pops up, its not a bad idea to have the cube, but i don't want it because i have set up spb shell to access everything i need easily. I have tried a bunch of registry things, downloaded xda cube, stopped biotouch by ending the process and replacing biotouch.exe with a biotouch.exe that is 0 bytes. i tried different settings. replacing the biotouch.exe seemed to work a little better for some reason, but the cube will still come up sometimes if i try to drag my thing across the screen starting from the edge. Any ideas would be awesome, and i'm sorry for reposting this, but i didn't know what else to do since i've spent hours and days trying to figure this out. obviously its not the end of the world if i can't stop it, but it would be really nice to remove it. oh yeah, and it freezes now, haha, guess it was something i did.

Moved as not Software release.

sorry i posted this in the wrong forum. I didn't really know where i am supposed to post these types of questions. I like to come here for questions about my phone as this seems to be the site with the most knowledgeable and helpfull people

REQ: stop app from ever running in foreground

hi chaps
right, here's my problem:
i've got a prophet running the latest dopod rom. all's well in pda land. unfortunately, i've had to do some fiddling to get o2's homezone app working the way it should do. more or less. see, the thing is when my device wakes up, the homezone app HZDisplayDataSMP is always in the foreground. so before i can do anything i have to press the OK button. now, i can sort of live with this, as i have homezone functionality, but it's, well, a pain in the arse, to be honest.
so, my question to you guys is this: does anyone know of a WM5 programme that will run apps, but force them to remain in the background. i was thinking of some resident startup item that would keep the app hidden away nicely from my interface, but continue to allow it to do what it needs to.
does anyone know of anything that sounds useful? if so, you're my man. i've got a hunch our good vijay555 might be able to lend a hand, but feel free to throw suggestions at me.
thanks a million, guys
I was asked about a similar app recently, to run apps minimised.
I've had major troubles rebuilding my PC after I installed the Vista Beta and it decided to eat my Documents & Settings and Program Files.
I'm finally back up to speed and able to start programming again, so will try to look into it.
But it should be easy enough for a developer to knock together with ShellExecute.
In the meantime, you might want to use a mort script to find the window by caption and minimise it. Or SK Schema should be able to do exactly what you want, run an event when it finds a window by caption.
V
righto! thanks for the heads-up. really appreciate it, pal. i'll have a look into both of those suggestions.
ps: the only reason to install vista is halo 2 pc. can't think of any other factor which would cause me to pollute my hard drive with such nonsense

Help With Macros Please?

Hi, I would like to be able program macros and set them to either a hardware button or an alarm. For example I could press one button and then it would close all, hibernate, OK, with one press. Also I would like to include screen taps so that I could have SPB insight update all its channels via wifi while I'm still asleep in bed, and a soft reset after. I am probably missing something totally obvious, for all I know it's already a part of wm6. But I think I need some software, so if anyone could point me to a free solution... Thanks.
try doing a search for mort scripts
sounds just like what the doc ordered
Thanks Rudegar, I read a lot about mort scripts, but I really am not sure what to do with them, I will investigate. In the mean time I have found out that some software called "AlarmToday" coupled with "ButtonMax" might do it but I think they are comercial apps. Also ButtonMax may have wm6 issues.
Hi all, don't suppose anyone gives a toss, but I found this which is exactly what I wanted (except a trial) SKschema, It is a really useful looking thing if I can figure it out, we all know SKtools, so it should be good.

SPB Mobile Shell, what's so great about it?

Owning a TD since it first launched and having used touchflow 3d ever since I thought I'd try something different for a change. I for one have been pretty happy with TF3d. For daily use, once you tweak it a bit and install some extra software it works fine for me. Looks decent and is not to slow. But I hear everyone rant about it and hear how great spb is supposed to be so I though why not give that a try.
It sucks. It looks nice, without a doubt. But thats about it I think. Its stupid, really really stupid. For example if you go to the whatever you want to do selection menu. Why is that load of **** on top of the screen there? I dont want all those stupid small icons. Secondly, whats with the useless big buttons? For example, under organizer, why cant I chose year for my agenda? And why under programma's do I get all the software? I dont want that! I want it like TF3d where I can select the software I actually use but apparantly its not possible to edit what you see there with the spb menu editor. Also, why di you get buttons to go to the next page? Besides it being slow what is even worse is that you dont have a X so if you actually want to close it you need to switch all the way back and press that button like atleast 6 times. And why cant I get network status to show up? I'd like to be able to see if my 3G is on or not and if it is I want to be able to manually disconnect it. And where is the decent contacts menu? One thing that sucks about TF3d is doesnt change the WM menu's when for example you go on and add a contact. SPB isnt anything better, it still has that and you dont even get something like iContact, your still stuck with the unusable WM contact menu's with the small not so finger friendly scrollbar. Oh, but there is the contact page, ****ing useless. I dont give a **** about my 15 favs or whatever. I want the complete list and be able to chose from that easy and fast. Also playing a mp3 sucks. No build in software so you have to bother with extra software again. As I use my TD for mp3 playback everyday SPB isnt exactly making things work faster for me.
Yeah maybe im just a incapable idiot but I really dont see how SPB is better than TF3d. It looks better, is a bit more responsive, but for daily use give my TF3d. No need to switch 12389 screens to get where I want. Got the left softkey editted, for iContact, the right one for my Agenda, got the software I use in the programs tab and for fast and easy mp3's playback the mp3 tab. Really, SPB doesnt come close to it if you ask me.
Maybe someone here can enlighten me as to how I can SPB to be what some people clame it to be...

Best calender/task manager

hey, i like touchflo,, i guess. probably cuz im a little too nervous and inexperienced to start seriously messing around with my phone, but i do hate how the calender on touchflo works. I cant see specific says without clicking on them, and the whole thing just seems a little elementary.
is there anything you can suggest that will work with touch flo, and required just a simply installation, because im not quite sure what most of the tech abbreviations mean, and how to manually configure settings.
So from your experience, what is the most intuitive program.
would it also be too much to ask to see some screenshots of the programs.
thanks a lot....consider it my christmas present
just a side note,
if you have a program on the phone, and then update the framework, must you reinstall the initial program...the reason i ask is , i have a program to prevent the screen from being responsive when i call came in, but after a few updates, ie. framework and advance config, the screen blocker program isnt working
any suggestion?
i believe there is already a post about this and to the best of my knowledge the answer to your second question is no
SBSH Touch Calendar looks awesome. I haven't tried it yet as it costs $25 but I'm thinking about buying it. Give it a shot and post up here!

Also there is a 12-day trial.

hey, sorry for the repost, but ive been searching, and really havent been able to find what im looking for. It may just be that i dont know if the mentioned programs im looking for are compatible with the touch pro. Im not looking to mod my task bar, or anything concerning manilla files. Just a program that allows me to see into the future a little better. is this spd diary program compatible with touch pro and free?
thanks for putting up with me
Try thumbcal, i's great. Version 0,5 is free after that it gets a little better but it's not free anymore, 12
Have a look here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=381588
This solved my problem - if this is installed, you switch the screen off, then on again - all appointments as well as current date/time is displayed.
Ive used Thumbcal and only just installed the SBSH touch cal, have to admit looks and operates great. So much more features and ability to manage apts etc. First impressions i think its alot more comprehensive then Thumbcal, but just my opinion.

PocketCM and Keyboard

I was wondering if anyone has either of these apps working in a usable state on an AT&T Fuze? I did a search over on the forums there and got zero hits on the word Fuze so I thought I'd inquire here.
I understand that PocketCM requires a VGA theme for the Fuze so I tried HTCTouch's themes and the fix to the settings.ini file but everything is still so messed up I wondered if it's just too much work to get going or if it just wont work at all.
I can get the keyboard app to load and work but the keyboard is scrunched on first launch every time until you hit a key and then it straightens out. The other anomaly is I'm unable to set the options specified to load HTCTouch's themes properly.
I'm just trying to feel out if I'm doing something terribly wrong and other people have this working fine, or if this is a work in progress kind of thing and I should wait to mess with it. I do know from what I could see that I'd love to be able to use it. It looks really slick and I think it's an improvement on the standard apps.
Any input is much appreciated,
Eidolen
