Nexus One horizontal leather case with belt clip AND loops? - Nexus One Accessories

I've been hunting for what seems like weeks for a case that has the following:
Actual leather, or good quality something, not the CRAP that just scrapes off like most cases are
Low-profile non-rotating belt clip
Belt loops (so I can't sit down and pop the case off my belt; it's happened)
Fits with a thin cover (Boxwave Pure Crystal, very thing, but not a 'skin')
Magnetic cover
Anyone have an suggestions? I've found several which look okay but all of the good actual leather ones don't have belt loops, which I feel are essential, as in the past I had a horizontal case that would worm its way off my belt. Since then I've only had cases with belt loops and a clip so the case won't go anywhere.
I bought a cheap case to use when I first got the N1, but as always it's this covered-pleather kinda stuff that immediately scratches and leaves gray marks behind, plus it barely fit the N1 without a skin, no way with it, so I'm using my old case which is beat to hell but at least the phone fits.
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Man.. I've searched for hours today. Nothing. Without belt loops there's a handful of possibilities, but the cheap-as-possible market has all but eliminated actual leather cases.
I see a lot of OEM HTC cases that are said to be real leather, but just a simple belt clip.
Maybe I should just find a deal on crap pleather ones and buy 4-5 of them and throw them away after a few months.

Well, I googled around for a cheap Evo case, as my N1 + Boxwave Pure Crystal case is just about the same size, and got 2 shipped for $8.. I figure if they work, I'll order a few more perhaps and just toss 'em as they get torn to hell by.... erm, nothing.. I hate cheap cases.. Oh well.

Don't know how good quality it is, but I found these on ebay:

Maybe you've looked at them already? Seems to fit your requirements (well maybe except the quality part).

Yep on the last part They're all dirt-cheap faux-pleather stuff that looks okay out of the box but scratches by the time you put it on your belt the first time. Plus often you gotta be really careful that they're selling the right size case, amazing how many I found once I started looking for Evo (after measuring my Nexus with case and finding it very close) where the reviews were all like "Case is CLEARLY not mean for Evo, WAY too small" etc..
I'd prefer to pay $30-$40 for a case I use for a long time, but for now I'll use disposable cases for $10 for two shipped.

Have you looked at Vaja Cases? They're very high quality leather. They also make generic holsters if you don't see a Nexus one version.

Good point, I'll look there. So far I've basically measured my phone in its case as Evo sized, and I don't see anything specifically Evo sized yet. But I'll keep looking, might be overlooking a generic case that'll fit.
If one can call a vaja generic The large urbano pouch fits a phone 4.5" long.. My Nexus in the case is more along the lines of 4.8 x 2.5 x .5, or very close to a naked Evo. I've emailed their support to ask if they make or are planning on making any larger pouches.
Edit: I got a second email from them, they have no plans to make such a case. I wonder if they'll change that opinion, however, since all of the crazy large phones coming out.. Evo, Droid X, etc..

I grabbed two cheap fake/pleather cases from Amazon made for the Evo, since it's the same size as my N1 with the thin case on it..
Except they're iphone cases, therefore about .5" too narrow. Lying f*cks. Oh well, I guess I'm searching again.
I've tried the ice trick on the case, right now I have an old phone in there.. but as thin as this thing is I doubt it'll stretch, plus it's not wide enough either, so I doubt it'll even close with the N1 in it.

Krusell makes good cases. Nice leather, and with the multidapt you can get any kind of holder you want.

( I know I shrill for them a lot, but no I'm not an employee or shareholder. I just think they're a good quality product. I've had one for every phone I've owned since my BB almost 8 years ago. )
Oh yeah, don't use the included swivel clip. They're horrible. They're free for a reason. Spend the extra three dollars and get the clip you want/need.

Hmm, all the Krussel I've seen all have the rotating plastic clip, which I hate on a case.. I don't want the case rotating, plus those clips are much thicker than a simple clip. I'll have to look into it more though, hadn't ever seen a fixed clip on a Krussel?
BTW, I've managed to stretch these cases.. Going to give one of them a try today. Don't try this at home kids.. At least not without being very careful.

They make all kinds of solid belt clips..just search the word multidapt.
Car, bike, belt, beltloop, jogging band...they pretty much have evert type you could want..but i agree, the swivel thing is a piece...

Wow okay cool, all I saw from Krussell were the silly clips. I see more now that I look specificly for that brand.
Cool, I think this is it.. Finally!
Krussell 95472 - No multiadapt, just belt loops
Krussell 95462 - Same as above, but has belt loops and multiadapt <--- Getting this one, with Krussell mini clip, 58202
Awesome! Thank you for the pointer!

Happy to help..enjoy the case.

Much win. Got it today, the one I mentioned a few posts back... Belt loops, choice of clips (I went with the Miniclip, case ships with a larger spring clip), nice leather, looks good, feels good, smells good.
It's a little tight with my Boxwave Crystal Pure cover on, but leather will relax. After I break it in a bit, it'll be awesome. I wish I hadn't bought three different cases to get here, but I finally got the right one.

htc leather case that i oown fits my n1 with a case on it perfectly, rotates, clip is tight and secure, real leather, i run every day with it on and it never slips

Best horizontal belt holster?

I am looking for a holster that:
1. Fits my Epic without making me fight to get it out.
2. Has a belt clip that keeps the phone attached to my belt.
3. Won't break after a few days of usage.
I've been able to find ones by Case Logic and Eddie Baur (at Best Buy) but they both have a belt clip that doesn't wrap around your belt. They'll attach to your belt but get knocked off very easy.

I bought this:
http://cgi.ebay.com/LEATHER-HOLSTER...ccessories&hash=item43a22e69cb#ht_2774wt_1008
after watching a video of a guy doing a review on it. It fits the phone perfectly. It is very new so the leather is kind of stiff and the flap doesn't close completely unless I tap it down until the magnet takes over, but that will work itself out in time. It feels like fairly nice quality, and is cheap as well. Holsters for me typically last around a year max before they are falling apart, so I tend to buy the cheaper ones.
Holster is made of leather interior and exterior. Epic 4g fits in very snug for the first couple fits, and then after half a dozen in and outs is a perfect fit.
How durable are the belt loops?
I have the one from Sprint, no name on the case...it fits the phone perfectly, but the only thing I don't like about it is that with the belt clip on I'm unable to charge my phone because the top clip part goes over the charging port.

Probably not too durable for the cost, but it will last at least a year I think.

I'm using Samsung's own Galaxy S case. I got it at the Sprint store (25% off thanks to my Sprint premium discount) and is really really good, high quality leather and nice fabric on the interior.
The phone fits comfortably and is very elegant looking. I'm including pictures!!!

How much was it without the discount?
I use the Galaxy S case also. I haven't found a case yet that'd suit my needs better.
That's the downside of this case, the full price is $34, but considering how well the phone fits and how elegant it looks, it's well worth it.
Just as a side note, I didn't get the case right away with the phone, I searched everywhere for a good case after I got the phone, but couldn't find it, then one day I popped into the Sprint store to solve a problem with my wife's phone and stumbled on it and fell in love, the 25% premium discount made it a lot more attractive
Best Buy
Just got one at best buy that is a hard case and comes with a belt holster. So even when you take it off your belt, it still has the hard case so if you drop it, the edges are protected.

Here are some picks of the one I bought off ebay- expensive but very well made. It looks a little large on my belt but the phone fits real well.

Found some pretty good cases at a cheap price.....

Have a couple of these for my phone. They actually work very well and fit nicely. My phone came with one and I decided to buy another. Nice thig is the more you buy the more color combinations you can come up with. Here are a few pictures. To fin just type (Samsung i727 hybrid) into ebay and search through all the different colors. Not bad for under $10

Cool idea mixing n matching. My girl has one of these on her skyrocket. Good case indeed for the price.
I've seen them, but didn't give them too much thought because they seemed "cheap" in the sense of net being very good. Thanks for the real world update! :good:
I have been looking around for a good case, i had the otter box and its a great case but hard to get in and out of your pocket..... does the rubber on this case make it dificult to slide in and out of your pocket?
I recommend everyone take a look at the Ballistic Case line. I haven't found anything with this much protection. Check the Nexus S variant on Amazon for awesome reviews. TPU backing makes sliding in and out of your pocket a breeze.
The rubber corners that go a bit in front of the screen are without a doubt the best protection I've ever come across. No worries at all about any future drops, the extra few mm of bulk are worth it without a doubt.

I havent found any issues at all going in and out of my pocket. Being the skyrocket is very light (compared to my htc vivid) i would think that drops with this case would be more than effective at protecting it. This combined with a good screen guard is pretty good. Once and a while if you take your phone out of your pocket quickly you will notice the rubber on one of the corners might start to come off but it happens very rarely and its easy to pop the phone back in. I never liked the silicone cases but with this having the solid support that wraps around on all 4 sides it works very well. It also protects to hard keys on the sides and both the charging port and headphone jack. I like it better than the speck case i had for my vivid.
I am very anal about what I buy to protect my devices and I am inpressed with these. I will be buying one every payday until I have all the different colors that I want. I think I paid 7.99 with free shipping and had it here in 3 buisness days. Don't get me wrong though if you are very tough on your phone then I would recommend the Otter Box, Speck Candy shell or the Casemate Tough Series. But for most people these are more than satisfactory. Th rubber on the corners are pretty tough like that of the balistic cases. The case is just thick enough to keep the sensitive homekeys on the bottom from touching your face during a call.

I heavily disagree about Ballistic brand cases being easy to take in and out of pockets....my gf has one for her I727 and it's impossible to take in and out of pockets, puraes, etc.
That being said, that case has survived quite a few nasty falls. The protection is the best I've seen.

Perhaps. The in/out of pocket is really a relative opinion unfortunately since some consider any resistance a huge annoyance. I can see the corners being an issue though, especially if you like to keep the phone in front Jean pockets.

To be honest I'm not sure which will fit. I had the otter box and the pt case combo for my inspire and I didn't like either one. Just gets in my way a lot. I like having it in my pocket anyways. Feels safer that way. If you do find one that fits could you please share for other members that like the combo.

Is there a built-in screen protector on any of these cases? Some of the descriptions are unclear, and a built-in would be nice. Having to adhere one to the screen makes my Otterbox Defender unusable, as it would peel the protector off every time.
My mom bought one of these off ebay for her Galaxy S2 and she really liked it. I was considering one for my Skyrocket, but I ended up getting a standard silicone case. I've always had problems with my phone sticking in my pocket. This hybrid case was easier to get in and out of pockets but the rubber parts on the corner did stick a little. After a couple of months, though, I noticed that the plastic part of this hybrid case had cracked in several areas. I'm not sure how it got cracked, because she hasn't dropped the phone or anything. If anyone is interested I can try to post pictures, assuming I can find where she put the damaged case.
I'd definitely be interested in seeing that. I took my Defender off last night (found it was causing some heat issues with ICS) and put a Zagg screen protector on, which more or less rules out the possibility of using the Defender again. I'm torn between one of the other Otterbox cases or a handful of these.
I have this cheapo http://www.ebay.com/itm/White-Kicks...423428?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item2a1fef9d04
very similar type of design with the built-in kickstand. Personally the rubber hasn't given me any issues.
FYI, you can find virtually all of these cases on Amazon for less (including shipping) than eBay. Just search "i727 hybrid". If you're planning to mix and match, keep an eye on the manufacturers. Mybat and Case-Xpro seem to be the same company (or, at least, identical designs), but Dragoncell, which makes the cases shown in the OP, uses a different size of plastic mesh than Mybat/Case-Xpro do.
I'm going to order one Dragoncell, one Mybat and one Case-Xpro and see how much I like each. I'll post results here. I mean, $25 for 3 cases (incl. shipping) isn't much to complain about.

Mybat vs. Ballistic vs. Seidio vs. Ionic

Hey guys,
Recently I bought this and while it looked great at first, it dawned on me that it doesn't tightly fit my device and the bottom part of my Nexus 4 has slipped out of the case a couple times..
http://www.ebay.com/itm/FULL-BLACK-...959490?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item56513a4042
So now I'm hunting for a new case. I've had really good experiences with the Seidio case with my Nexus S, but it's proven to be rather expensive compared to what others have offered. Wouldn't mind going back if it's the only case of this category that is the best fit and protection for the device.
I was looking at the Mybat but was concerned about the actual bulk of the device, and it being easy to remove as I often take off the shell from time to time. Also, no one seemed to comment if the case interferes with headphones with L-shaped plugs either.
The other two contenders are Ballistic and Ionic, heard great things from both but unsure which is better. I did hear that Ionic cases attract lint very easily but I do like its price very much. Not a fan of the bubble-back design though. Heard great things about Ballistic, but like the Seidio case, the cost is making me apprehensive about purchasing one.
Mybat: http://www.ebay.com/itm/LG-Nexus-4-...4?pt=PDA_Accessories&var=&hash=item2a286793ca

I have the iconic and thought it was too thick, so I ordered the Ballistic one and it's even thicker
I'm tempted to try the ACTIVE but I have spent so much on cases it isn't even funny....
Edit...I just bought it on ebay for $24.99 and free shipping.
When i had my gs3 i had a variety of cases including; cheap ebay "tough" cases with kickstands, an otterbox defender (never again), and a ballistic sg. The Ballistic is a GREAT case. It was sturdy, the phone would never pop out, the plastic was nice, and the silicone inner was much better than the plastic inner found on the defender. The silicon not only prevented scratches, but also prevented dust and any other unwanted items in. It almost seals the device. When i bought my nexus 4, i was very dissapointed that there weren't any decent protective cases out. I knew the ballistic sg was coming, but ive had my device since december and needed something for the short term... Something to get so i can wait for the ballistic. I was almost going to buy the case you bought, but i really don't like kickstands. I searched on ebay and found the mybat tough case, I bought it as it met all my requirements; it was cheap, it was protective, it didn't have a kickstand, and it actually looked good. The buyer i bought my case from shipped the case very fast to Australia, (which suprised me, usually these types of cases end up taking about a month) To my suprise, the case was really good quality for the price. The cutouts were (almost) perfect, the fit was pefect, the phone doesn't move about at all. I paid 15 dollars shipped to Australia compared the 70 or 80 odd dollars it would cost me to buy a ballistic shipped. I had the case on for a day, and I loved it...Until I tried to hang up on a phone call... the sensor on the lg is very sensitive, and this case just blocks it enough to stop the screen coming on. This fault was quickly fixed with a drill bit, and since then, i have had no issues, and will continue using this case for the remainder of the phones life. I simply prefer the whole case over the ballistic i had on the s3. However the ballistic was slightly better made, it doesn't warrant even a 15 dollar increase over this case. I love this case. (Note in my pictures the proximity cut out I modified) I did a custom design with sharpie marker on mine and it came out awesome! I wouldn't do this to a more expensive case as id be worried about wrecking it, but since these bad boys are so cheap, who cares. If this broke, i wouldn't think twice at buying another one.
Edit: This case also works with my energizer qi charging mat.
that back is awesome!
FYI the ballistic case works with the LG-WCP700 wireless charging pad. I do however find it is harder to hold on to as it's slippery compared to the Ionic. It's also larger than the Ionic.
I'd go with Mybat (because it's cheap and looks decent) or the Active (because seidio makes a good product and I like the kickstand.)
i also love the look of rugged cases.. been using them ever since my first smartphone
currently i am using this armourdilo case that i saw online.. it is available for sale on mobilefun website or i have seen a seller through eBay AUS...
availbale in a varieety of colours as well although i stuck the standard black on black ...
as well as many youtube vdo reviews bout it.. so i decided to buy it.. really good look and feel..

How easy is it to remove the case once installed? Plus does it interfere with L-shaped headphone jacks?

The case is easier to get off than my ballistic sg on the s3 was. With that said, if i drop it, it doesn't feel as if it will fly apart. The case has interfered with one of my L-shaped head jacks, and works with another.. i just use a simple headphone extender when i want to use those earphones.

Hmmm that might not fly then for me... I listen to music with my phone a lot ... my phone is essentially an Internet-enabled MP3 player that so happens to have a phone function built in lol.

I have the ionic case on mine wasn't too sure from the pictures but I like it and the circles on the back aid grip.
I also dropped it from about 5feet and it bounced on all 4 corners but the phone was fine!
Mate I answered you about headphones, check http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=37912172#post37912172 :silly: I can recommend the tuff case too, it is a solid and very fair priced case.

I'm running the seidio surface case. Expensive, but you can't beat the quality.

It does a bit, it is not terrible though, I only really noticed having a look to reply to you!
Second with mybatt.. Cheap and sturdy for the price. Get a good looking one for the less dangerous situations.

Great case AMZER Crusta!

Hi folks,
Just wanted to share my experience with this new case that I got last week, it's called Crusta, made by Amzer, I have used Amzer products in the past, but this case is something very different from their regular stuff I have used in the past.
Since, I have replaced 2 screens on my S5 in last 4 months, I really wanted to get something which protects the device, don't want to spend more money on repairs, initially thought of going ahead with OtterBox but I saw an ad on Facebook for Crusta. Having used Amzer in past, I ordered it (even got 25% off part of their promotion!)
Really loving the case, it is a bit on the bulky side, but not as much as an otter box, it is right mix of protection and style, they claim it is 6 feet drop proof, it did fall out of my pocket 2-3 times and no visible damage. The thing i really like about this case is that it came with a very nice and tough glass screen protector and a belt clip. Really neat bundle. The back of the case is very nice and stylish with clear backing. Only wished this case was waterproof, but for $45 its a great buy, I got yellow and black combo, but really good color options, lots of them.
If you are looking to get an otterbox, i would suggest you give this a try and save some money!
Have a look here - www.amzer.com/crusta
I will be posting pictures after I manage to get some decent pictures from my second phone

I've been looking for a case/holster combination and just came across this one. I had previously ordered the Seidio Dilex and was not happy with it mainly because it is so slick. The Seidio adds quite a bit of bulk also but I think I'd be ok with that if it just wasn't so slippery. Can you tell me a little about the holster? I need something that holds the phone safely. I prefer holsters that rachet and need a little force to spin around. What do you think about this one?
How'd you get 25% off? I'm interested in possibly ordering one.

Back2School is the code. It shows it right on the top of the amzer page

So I also have the Seidio Dilex and I ordered a Crusta just to see what the differences were. Here's what I noticed aside from what the OP stated:
-The belt clip, where it attaches to the belt, has a lot tension so it grabs tightly
-It is a U-Clip on the clip, but instead of a solid piece it is two "teeth" that wrap underneath the belt
-Phone case seems to fit loosely when the screen is facing out/clips in very tightly with screen facing inward (I prefer screen facing in)**
-The rotating clip looks like a gear assembly. When you turn it, it settles into the grooves and won't spin so it is omni-directional
-Online photos looks like the camera would be touching if laid on its back. The outer edge of the case keeps it from touching so no worries there
-Heart rate sensor is easily accessed and works well. Fingerprint scanner will work, but you will have to be accurate since the rubber has no give
-The Amzer is thicker overall than the Seidio Dilex and probably the exact same width as the Seidio would be if the kickstand went all the way up
**Might just be my case, OP would have to chime in
My overall so far is that I like it, but I want to test out the belt holster more before I wholeheartedly recommend it. The case is good and I love the tempered glass screen protector that came with it. The rubber is not slick at all and has a fake stitching look around the front face for aesthetics I suppose? Also, with this case on it barely fits in my Nathan's runners belt. Granted it is the smallest runner's belt, but with the grippy case rubber around it I won't be able to easily take it in and out to change songs or answer calls after I get it in there.
I'd like to post some pictures, but I need some suggestions of the best place to upload them for posting here? I just wondered what others would use and if you would like any specific pictures I am happy to oblige. I'll do a breakdown and couple of size comparison shots with the Dilex.
Edit: I personally won't be using the fingerprint scanner because as I found out, it you register a fingerprint while the case is on you should be able to unlock it. If you register it with the case off and put the case on, it most likely won't accept the scan. My experience was scanning in a fingerprint with the case on and took the case off to take pictures and it wouldn't take my fingerprint at that depth. If you are never going to take the case off this may work for you. However if you have pre-registered fingerprints and you put the case on you may lock yourself out. Just my experience.

I would suggest this case for sure, though I don't buckle the phone to my waist much, but the holster is really nice and high quality, the clip for rotation is also very smooth but at the same time not 'loose'. The video on their site says to put the phone face in for best results, but even face out is ok, the holster really holds the phone in really well.
My past experience with a seidio case for my S4 wasn't that great either, they tear up after some time and the support team is really not upto the mark. This case is not exactly thin, but it's a lot less than Otterbox, also this case has very very good grip on the TPR ring they have provided, so it won't be slippery like Seidio for sure.

I ordered during the independence day sale, i think they have back to school sale right now, which i'm going to use to order a case for my friend's iPhone 5s for which they have the crusta now. Try code BACK2SCHOOL - might work.
I will try to post some pictures today.
Regarding the Amzer Crusta!!!!
OMG that case is beautiful. Just looked online. That is absolutely a find. Called then and long to order.
Thank you!

I made an Imgur album with 18 pictures of the case. I added captions to a few of them to make more sense of what you're looking at. I hope this helps anyone looking to purchase this and if you have questions, just ask.

Belt holders

Hello I am wondering if anyone knows of a good quality horizontal belt holder that works with the g5 and allows for a case? My case is not very thick but I would not call it slim either.
To give you an idea of what I mean by good quality I want it to be leather and the last one that I had was actually fake leather and the support was cardboard. That one got decent ratings on Amazon for quality but when it fell apart it became clear that it was not good.
I use this belt clip on my V10 since I was unable to to find a holster for it. It works great! and it fits the G5.

I also use the Seideio LGG4 Cased jholsteras well

I never used one of those, but every case or holder with a plastic clip I have had has broken within 3 months. I am not sure I want to spend that money on something that my experience indicates would probably not last very long.
I almost forgot that in previous experience I have had problems with clips like that causing the phone to fall every time I get out of my car and I noticed a few reviews mentioning that on that clip as well. Seems like a bit of a risk to me.
Found this thread and the suggestion by @shaun0207 and figured I'd give it whirl! Thanks for that!
I have the Otterbox Defender (too damn bulky), the Evocel holster/clip (too flimsy and difficult to remove from belt clip) and now am going to try the Spigen walletcase in conjunction with the mophie universal clip
I'll let you guys know how it works out

Great! I have been seriously considering just getting the few tools and some materials and just making my own since it seems very hard to find ones that are well made. If I do I would basically have a thick, stiff leather back (I have a good sized piece of lace leather that I think would work well for that), a couple of belt loops either made from that same thick leather or a slightly thinner more flexible leather, then a soft leather for the rest of the holder with a flap for closing and probably just some cheap magnets hidden within for holding it closed. Should be pretty simple to put together (though there would likely be some trial and error involved).

I only had it come out of the clip once and it was in the car. If you can, check it out in Best Buy. It really holds the phone well.
