I am looking for a free pdf viewer. The one that comes with the Nexus One isnt cutting it for me. I need a free pdf viewer that can handle large files.

So this doesnt really answer YOUR question, but you seem like someone who might be able to anser mine. I purchased an ebook and I can only view it with adobe digital edition or something like that. Everytime I try to open it on my phone, the only place I need it, it says I need a password. I emailed the ebook company and they never wrote me back. Its frustrating and dont really know where to go from here if anywhere at all. Sorry to change the subject but just seemed like the right time to present this proble,.
And I am sorry if this is in the wrong place.
repligo reader is good, but not free
I think the quickoffice one that comes with astro its quite good too

I have tried every single PDF viewer on the Market and they are all complete and utter garbage.
Luckily I was pleasantly surprised when I flashed the Desire ROM. Lo and behold, it had a PDF Viewer, one that was actually worth using!
I highly recommend switching to Desire, or trying to pull the files out to make it work on stock Android.
If I'm not mistaken quick office comes on most the roms that will run on the nexus. You just need a file browser that will call it up for you (astro or my fav SUFBS) seems to open fairly large pdf files for me. Not a lot of options but it's better than any I've found on the market. From the sounds of it the OP has already used quick office though. Anyone know of any apps not mentioned here already?
For the ebook file, maybe try aldiko, I didn't like it, but that's why I usually just look for rooks on pdf format to download.
Would you consider DataViz Documents To Go the best office suite for android? I
am planning on getting my nexus one soon, but at the moment I am compiling a list of apps I am going to buy and am currently looking for an office suite.
probably you won't need to by any app. in reference to office N1 allready brings somekind of office. at least mine did. only if you need highly especiallized apps... in that scenario probably will need to buy some apps. afirewall, doc to go (in case your nexus one do not come with office)...

I came from a Windows phone and immediately bought Documents to Go for $20 since I was simply used to the ability to edit docs.
In the end, I've probably used it twice to open files, and maybe once to edit. I actually uninstalled it a while ago and haven't noticed it's gone. In fact, I rarely open any document that would even need the "QuickOffice" (default office viewing app, no editing).
I would suggest (at least for my purposes, and what I've noticed) is that it's probably more imperative to have a PDF viewer app. I'm not sure if QuickOffice does this because I have a specific app to view PDFs. I paid abotu $4 for the PDF app; there are probably free ones out there by now.
What other apps do you have on your list to buy? Maybe some guys on here can help you find comparable free versions.
depends on ur need... if u need to edit docs on the phone... it's good, else if u only want to view docs, the N1 has a built-in QuickOffice reader

This is accurate and ill elaborate. The n1 only comes with a document viewer. To edit documents you will need documents to go and the paid add on for editing docs, pdfs, and I think spreadsheets. The only other app I know of to edit documents is gdocs but to use that you'd have to have the document already in your gdocs account.
However I believe Google recently purchased a mobile documents company and I expect a native office application to be included in a future update, it just has to be because docs to go is the only way to edit those file types and I'm grateful for that app but it is not ideal.
I consider the "find my phone" software a necessary must on any mobile device. The ability to locate, ping, and wipe your Mobile is an extraordinary advantage in the digital age. I've used it once to find an errant iPhone 3GS and again on WP7 with a Samsung Focus.
What do you use on your Nexus S? Have you had an unfortunate circumstance that allowed you to field test? How did it perform?
i use seekdroid its good from my test but ive never had to use it for real. only thing its missing is remote photo taking
Lookout and Plan B(last resort)

Incredible. I didn't even think they had remote photo operation. I'll assume that, if installed, the functionality allows for remote photo sending and viewing, in realtime at your location?
What a boon. To have your GPS coordinates and pictures of the physical location...

I used to be able to do it on my iPhone. Its the only thing that I think seekdroid needs , put you can wipe the phone, sd card, lock, locate, message the person
Anyone else?
What is the best word processor designed for Honeycomb thus far that gives many of the features that MS Word also gives, such as formatting options, spell check, ect.
I'm basically looking for the most complete world processor out there for Honeycomb.
Probably Polaris.. comes with the TF
Documents to GO has been my go-to app since the beginning.
It works flawlessly. Although Polaris looks a lot nicer.
Polaris looks the best but I last I tried I couldn't open a word or spreadsheet document created with it in openoffice or libreoffice (free MS office alternatives), which ruins it for me. I don't know whether they have updated or fixed this issue since I last checked..
Ohh, shoot, I haven't tried that yet. Hmm, I use openoffice on my laptop too, are you saving it in openoffice format or .doc?
I want to save them as .doc files so that I can easily switch between working on my PC with MS Word, and my TF with what ever word processor I end up using.
Have anybody tried Quickoffice Pro HD?

Wondering this as well. I want something as close as to Office as possible
Check out the link in my signature. Trust me, you are not the first one to ask this question. What is not in the review are the online programs like Google Docs and Microsoft Live Office. Both are pretty cool and the latter looks almost exactly like the real office programs!
What about the new thinkfree app?

This is a very neat UI! I just bought it and if I ever find time I will include it in my comparison. It definitely has a lot of potential although it has many shortcomings regarding formatting and TrueType interpretation. PowerPoint ("Show") seems to be affected in particular.

Since you are the guru on this, please, tested and let us know how is it and what is your opinion.
I was looking at it last night and was close to buy the app, but I prefer for you to let us know what you think.
Thank you
This post is very helpful and seems related.
Also: no one has suggested just using Microsoft Word on your desktop/laptop via VPN. I know a couple of people like to do that.
My plan is to write documents using either the onboard application or Google Docs (depending on which app works better and if I am connected), then use something like TeamViewer or Logmein to do the nitty-gritty formatting.
Thank you for the compliment but unfortunately I don't have as much time as I used to I'll do me best though since I want to know myself! I'll update my comparison thread once I did it!

I've tried a few word processing programs as I've looked for something as good as MS Word or Open Office. So far, I've not found anything that can replace these programs. All of them lack certain key features - including google docs, polaris, quick office HD, documents 2 go. I haven't tried thinkoffice yet, but it doesn't look much better. I just now tried MS Live Office, but it wouldn't work on the tab - i got a page that said I needed to use MS Explorer or Firefox to access it. It looks like the most full featured option, but unless we can get past this browser limit, it doesn't matter on the TF.
Polaris office is the best so far, though I haven't tried to open the documents in open office, so I can't speak to that problem. I used QuickOffice HD up until the 3.2 update because copy/paste in polaris was broken.
help with polaris
I need help. I am a new tf owner and I can not get polaris to work. I have tried two google and one box accounts. When I go to set up the account I get an error message saying that it can not connect to the Web server. I was able to connect to one google account once then I added files to it and could no longer connect, same error message. I even tried creating a new box account and that did not work. Any help would be great
Hello,
I'm hoping to find users that will help me test an app that I created recently.
In this app you can rate the pictures of people with 1 to 5 stars, depending on how much you like it.
I tried to make it an easy-to-use and fast app by using a minimalistic ICS-like user interface, pre-loading of images etc.
I'm using the camera intent and Media Store to allow people to upload their own pictures and it seems like this may behave differently depending on the Android version you use (custom Camera apps etc.).
So I hope some beta testers might clear the situation.
The app has no ads and it's permissions only ask for "full internet access" (to load images, store ratings) and "SD card access" (sadly you need this to retrieve pictures from the gallery intent).
Download link (or use the attached file): http://pollr.org/rmp
Best regards
Florian
I installed and it and used it for a bit. I'll use it more once more pictures are uploaded I started seeing duplicates. Hopefully I will be able to add pics from my picasa gallery. It just FC's now.
But good start.
App works very well, fairly fast and looks great. Lots of duplicates but that's something that would be fixed over time. Have yet to upload my picture but be prepared for alot of 5 star ratings lol
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA App
No option to choose which sex you want to rate?
Edit: had no trouble uploading a photo from QuickPic on my SGN.
Thanks for your feedback guys
Regarding the gallery problem I've redone the whole thing (not using a "select image and crop" intent but a "select image" followed by a crop intent) and it should reduce force closes and problems with incompatible gallery apps.
It would be great if you could try again (especially Knether) – I just need to know if you can select a photo and if you can crop it (or if it just appears as a preview without cropping), you don't have to upload it
I updated the app in the first post ( http://pollr.org/rmp )
Duplicate pictures shouldn't appear until you've seen all pictures (then you'll see random duplicates), I fixed that!
And @WiredPirate: You're right, I will implement an option to only rate men/women
Sorry for double posting, but there's a new version with gender selection.
First post or http://pollr.org/rmp
Also there have been quite some picture uploads today (more than yesterday) and no complains here, so I'm hoping it works
Thanks again!
Can I ask how come you haven't released it on the market?
Great looking app! Good luck with it!

I didn't release it on the Market because at first I wanted to make sure there aren't any major bugs (hence this thread).
But it is on the market now: https://market.android.com/details?id=de.fheft.ratemypicture
Sadly, all the testing is useless against irrational 1 star ratings: "Bad This is a fake app , same photos"

Man, that sucks (and drives me nuts) when people 1-star an app thats free! Especially when an app is as nice looking and functional as yours, usually just because they dont understand something. I downloaded the app and left a 5-star review, hopefully that'll help balance it out. By the way, my bit of feedback in the meantime:
After selecting which gender to choose, it goes away and I cant select it unless I restart the app (Edit: I realized I can hit the stock menu button, but please see suggestion 3)
I get some "failed to load connection" and "failed to upload photo" notices even though everything worked fine
In the spirit of ICS design, I would remove the Info button from the top right, and replace it with the ActionBar menu button, and add a few options (Choose gender, Info, Report, etc.) under that dropdown.
I know this may not be 100% right, but I strongly think you should populate the photos with 500-1,000 more attractive (but not professional) men and women. It's cheating a little but it will be very hard to create a userbase from limited photos which currently has a lot of not-so-attractive people (I would know, I'm not-so-attractive myself).
I hope thats useful and wish you best of luck with the app (you can always re-release it so dont fret too much). And if you have a moment, it would help me greatly if you can rate my free app to offset 1-star reviews like "great but cant convert negative temp" or "cant use comma only decimal"). I swear, paid users are always more satisfied than free ones..
Thanks a lot for your reply! I will definitely think about how to implement your suggestions, they're great!
And you're right, the free users seem to be the ones that don't read descriptions or think about ANYTHING before doing it/rating an app...
I wanted to have a look at your app as well, but the Market website tells me it's not compatible with any of my devices (Galaxy S2, Nexus One, both 2.3.x)... although the description says it's >2.2?
