Basically the only reason I have astro installed is because I want to be able to download anything. But, it's inconvenient when I don't want to work in terminal and want a more visual idea of the file system as it cannot access root.
Currently, I prefer root explorer. I still want all downloads though. Can I do this without astro to avoid two exploring Apps?
Regards
Smith

I just installed Dolphin Browser Mini and it is great, downloads zip file for flashing with CWM without a problem. I used to LauncherPro to hide the icon in the App Drawer for stock browser.
I can't seem to download any files with my nexus s 4g. Usually I attempt to download files from xda either with the app or the site through the browser. I'm always told in downloads and the notification bar that the download was unsuccessful.
Is this due to a setting somewhere? Data profile or the like? Any fix or work around would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

yeah, i found it. the first download didnt take.
That's normal. Android doesn't download files that it doesn't know how to open, usually you are able to download a mp3 or a jpg, cause it knows these files. A file manager helps with files that it knows, but if you want to download ANY type, just install "Download All Files", an app from the market...

What browser are you using? Stock? My guess is that it might not recognize the file type and doesn't know how to handle it.
What exactly is the the problem occurring? It is working fine on my Sensation...
I can't download stuff while using Opera but when using stock browser it works perfectly.
I think is just an issue with the browser you sre using rather than an issue with the phone.

same here
I am getting the same problem. No filesonic, megaupload or any other file sharing site works for me. Or rather, I can initialize a download by putting in the codes. Then the download process starts. But instead of the .avi, apk or whatever I am trying to retrieve, it will say it can't download it or I get a .html extention file in it's place. Very annoying. Any ideas?
install androzip..then retry..it should be fine...

Can't download apps from filesonic. Only from PC. But if you download a apk from mediafire and it comes out as a html, use a file manager to rename the .html to .apk, hope I helped.

I find filesonic gives me issues
Mediafire and Rapidshare work fine to me. Megaupload and several others dont work either, the download just stops after some kb and the phone shows they are finished..

You have to use a computer to download from Filesonic. Can't download from mobile phone, it also says it in the .HTML file.

So I'm just wondering: what does everybody use for a download manager ( or do you keep stock)?

I never use download managers on any platform

I usually use ES File Explorer's in-built download manager! It's awesome with resume support.
Even this download manager seems pretty good!: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.dv.adm
It has all the various settings that you will find in a proper download manager like queues, part splits etc.
I use ADM download manager..
