I am looking around to see if i can find a mail app from htc sense or email widget that can do the same thing. Since it is really annoying to go into different email app everytime you need to see the email
any suggestions ?
This and the Photo Album widget I miss (well, I miss a lot of HTC widgets but there are pros and cons to Froyo vs Desire port)
Well i do not care about the port or the whole htc sense but i still want the email app to be ported out to nexus one
Try pure messenger widget in the market, it'll pull email from gmail or pop accounts, sms, facebook or twitter, so it can work like friend feed also, and if you use launcher pro our adw launcher, the widget will scroll just like in sense

I would just love the HTC Sense email. I can live without the rest of the Sense UI, but the mail app is just perfect for my needs.
the htc email app has no real gmail support, as far as instant recieving of mail. so it fails. But, I love the flicking of the messages just like the next guy.. I use pure messenger, there's nothing even close to as good.

Pure Messenger seems to be very decent but again there is no free version for it to try before buying. I will try to find some reviews online before i do anything ?
It's $1.50, if you don't like it you can get a refund

I'm looking for a apps that's looks like sense friend stream.
Sent from my HTC EVO using XDA App
LauncherPro Plus has a widget that shows Facebook and Twitter updates in the same widget, and allows you to update both services at the same time...
Use TweetDeck.
Pure Messenger is nifty & offers a lot more than Friendstream
sms, gmail, call log, twitter, facebook etc
None compare to the sense widgets as far as looks go. Some of them may do more, but they all greatly sacrificed on there athstetics.

depends if u like the look of sense. there are many themes available for pure messenger, i'm sure u could find one that you like.
Idk i can't exactly say that i look the look of sense(hence i put a theme on it) but there is no doubt about it that sense is definitely professionally done. It seems like a lot of amateur themes seem well amateurish. Hope you can find a theme you like there are some that look cool. Tweetdeck is pretty cool too and doesn't look half bad either kinda blends with the stock look
Thanks a lot guys! Letme take a look on those apps...

+1 on Pure Messenger Widget. It is great!
do you guys know of an app for your contacts that is simplistic? i'm not a fan of the photo thing next to each of my contacts and im pretty sure, it makes the phone lag a bit when scrolling through the list. I'd also like a contact widget, like the one that came with the phone, minus the photos...
-thanks

lag? srsly?
perhaps you want a flip phone?
but for real, i can't think of any replacment app that removes those features, those are pretty much big selling points for this type of OS and phone.
what phone are you coming from?
In cm7 there is an option to turn off contact pictures in your contact list. I'm pretty sure cm7 uses the stock gb phone/contacts app.
Don't know what to tell you about the widget except I use the starred contacts folder for quick access to my favorite people. You can add it like a widget.

there is a slight delay when i pull up my contacts because it has to load the photos. it isnt anything severe, but when it comes to calling folks, i really dont need to see their photo. that's just my opinion. secondly, i had a nokia e71x before this phone, and i really liked how simple the address book was on that phone. just a name, and an option to text or call. HAHA

OK, I've tried all the big ones, go contacts ex, dialer one, and TouchPal Dialer. Each one seems to have a unique feature or coolness to it, mostly go contacts or TouchPal, but they seem to be lacking or be incomplete... For example when using go and trying to edit a contact... You can't join multiple contacts together... If i was going to use a third party dialer I would want to freeze at the least the stock... With a third party sms app, i use handcent, i don't lose any functionality save for maybe the green dot.. But who uses that? Haha, so what in curious is, is out of all the dialers what is everyone's personal recommendations?

I'm still looking too.
My dialer has to be efficient to work with a large contact list (good search). I don't need integration with anything else than Google Contacts (no Facebook, etc). But I'l like some management tools, like 'call back tomorrow' with alarm, integration with a todo list, etc.

Well it seems that either some apps lack any editing or joining capabilities... Others seem to lack integration with certain things... Its small things but things that I as a whole always use... Its the one up the HTC sense launcher/dialer had compared to stock android... Sigh

For those of you that don't make it out of the One S forums...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1644212
Runs fine on the One S! Not sure it will make me switch from Google Currents though, Currents works pretty well since the last update.
Sent from my HTC One S
Yes, it does run fine on the S but like you prefere Google currents, since new update it runs really smooth on the S
I don't use Currents, but FlipBoard is much better than the official Facebook app, hands down. It actually loads photos, every time. The same can't be said about the FB app.
Although, I cant figure out how to customize my news sources, or types of news (Tech, Stocks, Regional etc.). Any help?

Nor the xda app to be fair.
Customization is done on the last page by touching the 'More' panel and then 'Edit'.
Hope it'll be available for tablet soon!

Ooh yes, i really like it! I hope it will be extended to other phones because i havent'got one of those. I think it's a perfect launcher for those that use a lot facebook

Just don't trust em anymore - Let's see..
I lost trust with Facebook after all the issues they have had with privacy. Also when adding the Facebook Android app about a year ago to my Android phone it basically merged all the pictures and put them in my contact list, sounds fun but it was actually a pain.
Think I'll wait for the reports to come rolling in in this thread before I try it.
Useless waste of resources... So no.

Using it right now, takes a little bit of time to get used to. But if you use Facebook allot then i say get. The chat heads are pretty useful.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda premium
The best part is chat heads and you can use this without installing Facebook home, just update the FB and FB messanger app and allow chat heads I. Settings ,works great and includes sms
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
I started using it day 1 and I think it has potential. It allows me to do what I usually do on my phone, but right from the launcher. I didn't really use widget, but it doesn't prevent you from using the regular launcher. I love the Chat Heads, as it helps with texting and keeping track of who you are talking to. Once you are done, just drag their Head down to close the chat window. I like it cause it reminds me to check if I replied to anyone. Some things I don't like is that there is no way to manage your contacts, save contacts, or anything you can normally do on any SMS app. You have to go to the People or SMS app to do that. I think some stuff will be added/fixed over time. Overall, a pretty good experience once you learn how to use it. Took me 30 minutes to find out my apps were a swipe to the right away. Big learning curve.
Here is the app for those with non compatible devices. Good luck.

Not everyone is running high performance apps. As one coworker said, it is iOS for Android in a way. No widgets, just put the apps you will use on the main app window. Everything else is still there, just centered around updates. For most non-power users, it will be fine.
Hey, it is not for everyone. I'm running Mastamoon's CM10.1 unofficial S3, and it runs well for me. Don't like it, just uninstall it.
How to use facebook Home If it is not Supported in my country.
In India
Got it on my htc g2/vision/desire z
I made that my facebook phone, and had before this thread only the fb app installed, got around 5-7days with stock battery and constant w-lan connection
Since fb home I am down to 3d without constant w-lan connection (off over night)
So, although it is very nice and I personally think that this is no lockscreen anymore in a sense of LOCKscreen, so you can go right ahead, it kinda drains very much :/
Will leave it this and maybe next week, but then I'll see how it works out
Also, needing quite much of the little RAM I got there :/
