My schedules for email syncing and htc peep (twitter) is set to download every 15 mins but these drain a lot of battery.
Is there any app that enables us to auto disconnect wifi or HSDPA after downloading of emails / tweets?
Also, in the email setting, I was also unable to select option to not sync the emails during say from 1am to 8am.
Solutions? Thanks in advance!

Is there a way to do this? I'd like to prevent battery drain and start mobile network only to download mails sometimes during the day... but I don't want to start it manually... just as happens on iphone, blackberry and nokia devices.
Do you know how?

I use a "Toggle Data" widget to turn data on and off.
Then under Settings->Accounts & Sync->{account name} you press the menu key to show the "Sync now" option.
If you are using an email client, there is probably a way to do a "Send/Receive" under the menu key there as well.

Maybe I didn't explain well what I mean...
I'm looking for an app which let me download mails for my accounts each hour (or better whenever I prefer). I'm able to do this in android mail account settings BUT this works only if data connection has been turned ON before... so to get it working I need to set mobile connection always on.
I need an app which, as happens on nokia, each hour does:
- start connection
- sync mail
- close connection

any suggestion?
All of you take internet connection always on to get mail synced frequently??

I use Setting Profiles
It's like Locale. I have a profile set up called Sync. For me it is set up to turn on Active Sync for 1 minute at specific times throughout the day. Or you can schedule it for a number of minutes every hour.
I use it to sync up Facebook and my Exchange contacts and Calendars (using Touchdown for email). It will work for GMail too.

Do you mean "Locale" as the app available (not free) on the market?
I didn't understand what's your proposal, sorry... but it seems you've centered the problem
i have auto sync turned on for gmail, exchange email/calendar/contacts, and facebook. my battery life is so so right now but until i can get a second power adapter and cable...im having to look into ways of increasing battery life.
i would prefer to have my exchange calendar and contacts sync automatically, but i'd rather not have my email coming to my tablet all the time as i can just manually sync when i open the email app. so heres my ideal situation:
1. connected to wifi
2. auto sync calendar and contacts
3. manual sync of gmail and exchange email
i've set both gmail and exchange email to "never" sync but that doesnt seem to be applying as i still get emails automatically. ive turned off auto sync in the settings but i still get emails automatically! anyone else have this problem?
Hi there,
I have 6 POP3 email boxes configured to by sync'ed every hour, and also ticked the checkbox to get them synced when i open mail app.
I also use JuiceDefender Ultimate that is set to allow internet connection every 15 mins to sync things up
The problem is that i'm not getting emails every hour automatically, i'm getting them once i open mail app only.
Do you know what i can do to have them coming every hour like i set?
Hi everyone,
i have an question about the sync interval of gmail.
at this moment i'm using gmail so that when there is a new mail i'll be notified, this costs a lot of batterylife thru the day.
i want for example that synch interval will be done every hour?
how will i make this happen????????????

Push notifications
I actually believe that the official gmail application for android doesn't let you configure what you're suggesting because it uses push notifications, which means it doesn't wastes battery "asking" the internet when you have a new e-mail, but the internet tells it and it appears instantly.
The only time option in this application is about how many mails do you want your phone to storage in cache, measured in days. For example, if you type 7, you'll always be able to see much quicklier the mails you received last week.
Is there a way to change the sync interval of gmail? I want to set it as every 10 or 15 min to save battery. Currently, I think it is constantly syncing.
No you cannot change it in the Gmail app. If you want to do timed email retrieval you will have to use a different email app.
Unless you're receiving many emails a minute, scheduled sync won't save battery.

The Gmail app works off of push notifications, not a sync interval, so as soon as you receive an email it'll get pushed to the mobile app in real time
I see. Thanks for all the answers.
