Best Screen Protector W/anti-glare & Resists Smudges and Fingerprints - Nexus One Accessories

I used to have an Iphone and I am looking for a very similar product I had on the screen that was the best I used on a smart phone. I am looking for the same thing for a N1 if possible. The product was made by www.powersupportusa.com and it was called the anti-glare film set with fingerprint/smudge resistance for iphone 3G. Anyone have any idea of what type of screen protector I am referring to? and can maybe give me an idea one just like it for the N1 that isn't so expensive? I'd like to buy one soon for my N1. Thnx for any response

nobody knows?

http://www.clarivue.com/htc-nexus-one-screen-protector.html

Not familiar with the one you mentioned but I've been using Zagg's protector for my N1 and it provides decent protection while still allowing me to use the desktop charger.

Hey thnx do you personally use this? Is it good against smudges and fingerprints?

I have the clarivue. I used it back a few months ago, it's great for antiglare and smudges, but it absolutely kills the color and contrast.
With that said, I put another one back last week. The phone is usualbe inthe sun again, and no wiping it down every three seconds. Trying to see on it with polarized sunglasses is a joke though lol.
Also you'll get a 'rainbow" effect, but you'll get used to it.

I've found that dcmugen's anti glare protector just gets better over time. I was pretty disappointed in the beginning, but now all is good. You do get the rainbow effect, but I got to compare mine with a N1 without a screen protector and I was surprised at how small the difference in brightness and color was. So if you try an anti-glare protector, let it stay on for at least a week.
That's my advice anyways

+1, I was so close to remove it, waited then for a few days and now it is awesome. They are very cheap too.
...and nearly no fingerprints with this protector!

Do you have a picture with the screen protector with the screen on?

I posted some photos a few days ago here in the forum, will search for it...
Look for the "screen protector with oleophobic coating" thread.

On my Nexus One, I have the Boxwave ClearTouch Anti-Glare, and I like it a lot. Of course it loses a little clarity since it's an anti-glare screen protector, but I've gotten used to that.

Yes, the dcmugen antiglare... It is much more fingerprint resistant than the N1's screen anyway. Used the phone for two weeks without wiping off fingerprints (which as you know is pretty much impossible without a oleophobic screen protector).

Brando ones.
for me,the best.

Brando anti-glare (BW PDA) screen protector experience

I received Brando's anti-glare protector today. It's a perfect fit, even has a little hole in the top left corner where the proximity & light sensors are. However...
It makes the screen look like sh*t, everything is "grainy" or "foggy". I can barely read my email (using the stock gmail client). I've always been a fan of Brando's screen protectors, ever since I bought one for my Axim X5 in.. what? 2003 or so... and their "Ultra-clear" protectors are still great (i put one on my wife's Magic and you can't tell it's there), but their anti-glare ones are pretty much useless on the N1 and similar phones.
Has anyone else used this particular screen protector? Was it as bad as mine, or did i just get a dud?

I just got my BoxWave anti-glare protector today, and it is really clear... if it turns out it is just an issue with all Brano's, take a look at the Boxwave one's. I got it 3 days after ordering it, came with a cleaning cloth and application card. As well, it is static cling too boot!
box wave sells really good screen protectors.

My only camera is my N1 right now since I just sold my G1 and the digital camera is at my brothers... I will try to grab it next time I go over there.
I will say that the fit is pretty good, but not perfect, it has about 1mm on one side and the top(I decided when I laid it down, I would do it that way so the bottom and right side was fully covered). When off, there is a hair of cloudiness, when on there is a hint of graininess and whites give a "prism" look at the correct angle, but both effects keep getting less and less as it has more time to fully work itself onto the screen and get all the air out. I suspect in a day or two there will be no "prism" effect of graininess.
It has a great feel to it when swiping, no drag at all. As well, fingerprints are a thing of the past.
I also ordered one of their ultra-clear, not anti-glare, and it is just perfectly clear. I use my phone outside a fair amount, though, so I wanted to do the anti-glare first and see if I could withstand the graininess and what not that is common with all anti-glare screen protectors. Compared to ones I have used in the past, just generic eBay ones, on my G1 and a TyTN II, this is the best anti-glare I have seen so far.

static cling. My experience on my Tilt was that it stayed on very well, but easy to take off.
If you start with dust or anything under the protector, it is easy to lift with a piece of tape and get the dust off. If necessary, you can take it off, wash with a little soapy water, dry it, and put it back on.
Had to do that with the Tilt because I was so ham-fingered when putting it on.

Static, like was already mentioned. I would not recommend the "anti-glare" for anyone that wants or expects it to be 100% crystal clear. Even after a couple days, I still have the slight "prism" effect going on... it works great in the sunlight making it so you can see the screen, but I don't think the outdoor improvement is worth the trade off.
As for application, the best way is to start taking off the backing, and then as you lay it down remove it more and more along the way.
The screen protector is thick enough that it lays down really really well with out any air bubbles.

In case anyone's interested, I uploaded a video to Vimeo. It's here: www"DOT"vimeo"DOT"com/9087329 (<3 spam rules for "new" users)
Note that the video actually makes the screen protector look a lot better than it really is...
My screen is currently "naked" and I'm waiting on dcmugen's clear screen protector (bought a pack of 5 for like 5 EUR).
Edit/update: uploaded to youtube as well (try the 1080p version) - www"DOT"youtube"DOT"com/watch?v=0yxpBL1zsFo
yes, i have ordered many different screen protectors in my time. just got an hd2 and decided to go with the brando anti glare... horrible! it is the most unreadable anti glare sp i have ever bought. the fit and and the cut is perfect, but it diffuses too much light. it does reduce glare but absorbes too much light that it makes the entire screen too light that you cant see anything anyway.
even my 5 dollar dc mugen for my mt3g used better material. i may have to try the boxwave.
i did end up buying the brando ultra clear after and those are still top notch.
Hi,
I have a had a Boxwave & Clarivue Anti-Glare, both decrease the clarity of the screen & I would not recommend.
I have ended up using a Clarivue Ultra Clear. You sustain the clarity of the screen & you can't even notice that it is there. Also when you order you get two sets at the same price of buying one Boxwave.
I would recommend Clarivue if you want to get the Ultra Clear, but if you still want to decrease the glare of the screen. I would recommend that you find a alternative screen protector that is not a Anti Glare but with a matt finish.
I have a 10% discount code if you want to order a Clarivue.
code: Clarivue7
Thanks

I like anti glare because it has the "matte" feel. Do all 3 Boxwave & Clarivue Anti-Glare and brando have that feel?

Clarivue & Boxwave Anti-Glare do have the matt feel, but decrease clarity.
Better off going with a standard matt screen protector.

perhaps you could spend a few min browsing trough the screen protector thread.
plenty of revies of what ppl like.
i'm using many freebies ones that are very good, but..........
traces of oil from my face and fingers are horrible
on the other Screen Protector topic, some one mentioned a brand that is SUPPOSEDLY Anti Oil resistant
The best screen protector is already on it. Gorilla Glass!
Otherwise I just use one of those 5 for a couple of quid on ebay. Not bad at all.
Case
Hello,
I bought a really nice case for only 7 euro's (https://www.b2ctelecom.nl/CASETSI901/silicone-hoesje-voor-samsung-i9000-galaxy-s-white-tsi-tp.html). I am very happy with the case, it fits perfectly.
I also bought this screenprotor: https://www.b2ctelecom.nl/MIRRSI900...en-protector-voor-samsung-i9000-s-galaxy.html but this is not a good one. It looks like the screen is darker and putting this on you don't get the fulle benefit of the super screen
This shop has more goodies for your Galaxy S (see https://www.b2ctelecom.nl/p/10/mid/3/tid/1312/samsung-s-i9000-galaxy.html)
Good luck

Gotta agree with that.
I'd put a protector on if I were you. Don't learn the hard way like myself. I was going naked screen for a bit and as every day went by I was confident the screen was not going to get a scratch.
Then I accidently shoved the USB cable with my phone in my pocket and bang - scratched it. Just a small one, but enough to be seen in reflection.
Better a screen protector get scratched and replaced rather than the screen have an unrepairable scratch for it's life.

For sure I'm going to get a screen protector. I just find it funny how some people would bother posting in this thread telling me to go naked when I've clearly made up my mind. The glass is scratch resistant and not scratch proof. Like you, I also stuff coins and other small items into my pocket in addition to my cellphone so I wouldn't be surprised if scratches form if there's no protection on the screen.

There's no cut out for the front camera but in all honesty, the shield presents no discernible degradation in front camera quality.
I got mine from Cretouch, but you can also find it available from SGP eBay resellers or SGPcraft themselves.
The oleophobic properties of the screen aren't as pronounced as I would like, but it still beats non-oleophobic screens. I was using the Martin Fields protector prior to this one which was excellent in terms of clarity, but it looked like a greased pig had gone to town on it after you were done playing with it.
i recently received my galaxy and made sure i got myself a good screen protector. after all everyone raves about the screen and i'm sure after a 2 year contract it's going to have a few marks without one.
i bought a Martin Fields Overlay. Not cheap but more than happy with it, I've used the cheap ones from ebay on other phones and they definitely aren't as good.
it includes a cover for the camera lense as well.
sorry new account so cant post direct link, just google martin fields screen protectors.
I put the Invisible Screen on the 2 i9000's we have and am happy given the circumstances. The protector certainly holds some oil and grim but it's easily cleaned. I'm willing to deal with the cleaning for a scratch-free screen.
Screen protector only (what I did)

Full body protector
http://cgi.ebay.ca/FULL-BODY-Screen...635151?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item563ee8da8f
[EDIT] forgot to add that the protector DOES have a cut-out for the front facing camera
Why would you want a screen protector when you already have gorilla glass. It doesn`t scratch that easily. It`s not resistive touch screen. It`s capacitive and it`s gorilla glass. Enjoy the clear display without worries is my suggestion.
i have copter, the same as IS and it looks like crap! Wonder if its the pentile that creates interferance patterns... IS looks good on lcd

also, i have used a generic mirror screen on my hero before, makes the phone look nice when its off, however horrible to use in daylight and also screen brightness has to be all the way up so kills battery

I'd like to do this too, I absolutely love the feel and look of the phone without a screen protector. But I am too worried about scratches. I keep hearing people say things like it's Gorilla Glass and can't scratch. I watched the videos where people attempt to scratch the Gorilla Glass screen on purpose and can't. But every once in a while I read a comment from someone that says they got a scratch on their Gorilla Glass screen and they have no idea how. I'm not sure what to think.
Got my clarivue today, installed easy, can barely tell its there and doesn't mess with capacitive buttons on bottom.

Is gorilla glass what the screen is made of? 'Cuz I scratched mine. :-( My accessories were in the mail but I went out on a My Tracks expedition on a local hiking trail over the long weekend (couldn't resist! I've never had GPS on a phone) and I dropped my phone and it got scratched on what must've been a pebble in the otherwise softish dirt trail.
More accurately, my phone fell out of my pocket when I jumped thinking a spider landed on my head.
Received my clarivue screen protectors in the mail today and I am less than impressed with them.

It's not the quality of the screen protector itself that I have problem with. It is completely clear (as described) and has a nice feel to the touch. Not the same silky smoothness as glass obviously, but not a rubbery feel to it either.
The overall cut and fitment of the screen protector is my biggest problem with it. Clarivue says that all their screen protectors are cut slightly small (which is fine) but the design for the epic isn't centered properly. If you align the top correctly (so that the front facing camera and sensors are exposed) you will find that the entire screen protector favors the right hand side of the phone. This leaves you with a noticeable gap on the left side and practically no gap on the right side.
I also encountered some installation issues since the second tab did not want to separate from the screen protector. I wouldn't hold that against clarivue however, but in my case I had to physically separate them which caused the corner to not adhere to the screen properly.
I'm going to contact clarivue about these issues on monday and see what they have to say about it. I've heard good things about seidio's ultimate screen guard and will mostly like order a pair of them when they become available.
I had one custom fitted at a mall near me for 9 dollars. I really cant tell its there and it add to the feel of the screen (less greasy/finger marks).
i have a tiny scratch and have no idea what it's from. I assume it was a rivet on my jeans or some****, kinda disappointed since I've checked out people trying to scratch the screen but couldn't

Screen Protector - Matt one or glossy one?

Hi, have any one try a Matt Screen Protector on DHD? I'm interested in the Matt one but afraid that the color would be distorted/dimmed too much... Any suggestion? Thanks!
I installed the Martin Fields protector, and the picture is like before the install, no blurryness or anything. Crisp and clear.
I can highly recommend it, and no worries about any airbubbles with MartinFields

has your DHD got a matte screen?
I got a matte one from a Japanese company (Sanwa). It very slightly reduces crispness but feels smooth as silk even when my finger is a bit tacky.
actually the matte or anti fingerprint really diminishes the screens colors and brightness. it will do injustice to your phone but no more wiping due to greasy fingers.
So does anyone know any good matt screen protectors?
Gotta comment again about my MartinFields, u get bubbles if u have some crap between screen and the protector it took me about 20min to install it perfecly, always some crap on the screen and had to use scotchtape to remove them or just not inline with the screen. But i got and worth the time the protector has a rly good feel to it, and even with sticky fingers no problem at all, fingers glides rly good. Almost as no protector at all fingerprints show only when screen is off. Recommended.

Firstly:
I have used a matte protector, it really messes with the colors, whites end up "rainbowed" etc. It feels much nicer though, so weigh up what is most important to you. Personally i dont use a matte one any more.
Secondly, i think these martin fields screen protectors are a complete rip off. I have tried many brands, and frankly you can pick up a pack of 10 on ebay for a few pounds, they fit well and if you install them correctly they are invisible.
I dont see how the Martin Fields protectors are superior, the ebay cheapies do NOT dim the screen.

I had a matt 'anti-glare' protector from Brando but have replaced it with a cheap one that came free with a charger.
Why? Because..
a) it reduced the visibility of the screen in any light and washed out the colours and diminished sharpness of the screen,
b) the anti-glare didn't get rid of all the glare so it was still hard to read in bright light, and
c) when I tried to remove it to put on a replacement DHD I found that it was impossible to clean properly, and I couldn't remove all of the bubbles, and it also creased very easily.
Once creased it couldn't be straightened, so I threw it away.

if you are worried about sticky fingers try rubbing some wd40 oil onto a glossy screen protector, works a trick as wd40 is oleophobic
I ripped my martin fields one somehow, its been on for about 3 weeks and it has a cut in it D:
Wonder if they will replace it :O
used matt and clear. Using clear one now. Crisp & clear is more important than anti fingerprint & anti glare.

I went daft and got a mirror protector problem it not so clear and it makes the screen go funny colours
E=Mc2
I would like to get a matte protector, because the glare from the sun gets annoying when i have my screen on lowest brightness (which is most the time) though I don't want to loose crispness. So still not sure which one i'd go for

wow does this really work? would it stay on the screen and not come off your fingers? got some wd40 at home might just give it a shot.

[Q] Anti-fingerprint screen protector for a Touchpad

I recently bought a SGP Ultra Oleophobic screen protector for my Motorola Atrix 4G and I'm very impressed with the clarity and fingerprint resistance of it. I had a look at the SGP store but it doesn't look like they have one for the Touchpad.
Can anyone recommend a similar screen protector for the Touchpad?
Thanks,
Mark

I've had good luck with the generic matte/anti-glare screen protectors. They seem to do a good job of reducing fingerprints, while also making the screen nice and slick and less reflective. They do "dull" the screen a little, but I've been putting them on every device in the house lately. I haven't gotten around to doing the TP yet (I bought the $1.50 one from Overstock recently).

I apply a coating of Mass metal polish!
It slicks up the screen, gives an element of print resistance, doesn't attract dust and re-polishes easily.
Once a month is sufficient to keep it working nicely.
If you try this then the first time you use it the screen response will be erratic until you polish it enough. Then its super slick.
+1 on the anti glare screen protectors. Definitely does the trick.
I got one for the original I-pad and cut it to fit my touchpads, love it, cuts the glare from the screen and I hardly ever have to wipe the screen off.
i have a matte protector on and it definitely reduces the amount of fingerprints but the screen quality definitely suffered

Same. Resolution definitely went down. But matte screen protector gives a very good touch feel on the finger

+1 here. I hadn't used my Touchpad in a while (until I finally put CM on over the weekend), and my finger just kept getting hung up on the screen while trying to drag. Every other touchscreen device in my house has a generic matte protector on it now, so I'm used to the smoother glide. I have to say, the quality seems like it varies a bit. The ones I put on my Nook Color and my wife's phone look much better than the one I put on my phone. For some reason, that one gave the screen a lot more pixelation and like waves of light/dark. I still have yet to put the Overstock one on the TP.

I've got a matte protector as well, actually it's from overstock.com or buy.com as a anti glare screen protector for $1.50. It's a great buy, it definitely makes the screen a joy to use. The only gripe I have is when I'm in the office and have the TP sitting on the desk, the anti glare screen protector has a glare on it, funny i know. But when it's on the touchstone or at an angle I'm fine. And when I'm in a dimly lit area i don't even notice it. It's a great buy and for $1.50 you can't really go too wrong.

Yeah, they should really be called "glare-reducing" or something
At least the screen isn't like a complete mirror anymore
im usinjg this and I love it. Its the best screen protector ever http://www.amazon.com/Generiks-TouchPad-CLEAR-Screen-Protectors/dp/B0057POM16/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1328048435&sr=8-1
I hate the idea of an extra layer of plastic on top of this great display.
Rain-X, people - it works a treat!
Any recommendation for a screen protector?
Mine already got scratched up pretty badly, so may want a better one... =(

I can see how this would make it slide easier, but does it really do that much to prevent finger marks/smugges?
