I'm not sure if this is possible but one thing that I find annoying is when an app freezes and you have to wait a minute or so to get the force close popup to come before you can end the task. I've noticed there's no function assigned when you long press the back button, so I was wondering if it was possible to make an app that would have you force close whatever is on the screen if you long press the back button. Just putting it out there , cheers!
long back is randomly assigned in apps, it's used to access history in the browser for example. I just use power strip then long press on the app that was open and it lets me kill it

Hi,
When I press and hold the press-to-record button it takes a good two seconds before it starts recording. In my opinion this is too long and I would like it to be shorter, maybe half a second. Is there a registry key or something I can change to make this shorter?
My second qusetion is I have no use for the Voice Recognition app launcher it comes with, I would prefer that I press the PTR button once and it just loads Notes. I can do that if I set the button to the Record program but then I cannot have the Press (Hold) functionality to record on holding it down. If I set them both to Record I get an error that every button must have a unique assignment. Is there any workaround? FWIW I couldn't find Notes in the list there.
Edit: sorry, I forgot to mention my device is a HTC TYTNII.
Thanks!
Chris
Is it possible to remap the action invoked by pressing the Back and Home buttons? Or can it be removed? Like long-press Back acts as the Home key. And long-press Home pulls down the notification bar?
It's annoying because I always press Back to exit an app, not Home. And sometimes it lags so a tap of the Back key registers as a long-press and actually sends me Home.
Is it possible to remap by changing stuff around in the keylouts?
And also, is it possible to remove that "feature" of the volume being lowered when headphones get connected? That's annoying, too.

/system/usr/keylayout/
directory may be of some use.
I'm not able to access those files at the moment but i think the file s3c-keypad.kl allow for some remapping as well.
I'll post back with more help when I'm actually able to access those files for the phone.
I'm running Cyanogenmod 10.1 on my One S with Nova Launcher. I have my hardware keys set so Home key opens up Google Now (search) on long press. Recent apps key on long press is Menu. Every once in a while the phone acts as though I'm long pressing these keys when I single press so I can't get home unless I use the back key. The problem is resolved on reboot but I don't want to reboot everytime this happens. Any idea what could be causing this?
Maybe I just have meaty digits, but I often find that when I'm trying to take a picture, my thumb will graze the hardware back button and exit the camera app completely. Then I have to reload the camera app and I've totally missed the moment.
I finally got fed up and switched to the soft navigation bar - in CM11, it's under Settings > Buttons > Enable on-screen nav bar - but it's not a very elegant solution.
Ideally, while I'm in the camera app, I'd like the phone to require a long press of the back button to exit. But I don't know of a way to conditionally remap the hardware keys - e.g. "if CAMERA is running, remap Back Key short press to NULL and remap Back Key long press to BACK."
Any suggestions?
When I flashed some ROMs on this device, my home button was really slow to carry me on home page. And I've understand that's a problem in software side: practically Home Button waits some seconds before do the task to understand if you want push the button one time, two times or do a long press. It creates a delay that sometimes is really annoying worsening user experience.
To fix this issue follow these steps:
(This guide is for CM users, but it would work on all roms that allow to change button options).
>Go to options
>Find button section and go in
>Under "Home Button", remove actions of long press and double push.
>Enjoy the speed
