Ok as the heading stated we just need some people to test this radio especially if they have another device with built in Radio.
I Have managed to extract it from a Polaris Rom and compiled it into a cab.
So far it install ok [ Multimedia Folder] When activated it ask for headset to be plugged in [ this is why I believe its has to do with the Headset ] But nothing happens when the kaiser headset is plugged in.
HTC_Radio_1_5_1722_2131
Please provide feedback and help if can.
Thankyou, sir..

I'm wondering if the polaris headset is compatable with the kaisers as this would let us know directly.
I get this message;
"Your wired headset serves as an FM antenna. PLug in the headset and tap Retry to continue."
Would the settngs of the XML file have anything todo with it??
I know very little about such things!!

WOW... this is realy awsom
Thank you Dutty!

Does the Kaiser have a radio tuner?
according to the wiring diagram for the Kaiser, there is no radio tuner for FM radio... not sure how this would be possible then...

just a wild stab...anyone tried a bluetooth headset or headphones?
Possible
Have a look at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=338238 it discusses the fact the Polaris and Kaiser have the same Chipset which in theory could support FM radio.
Typically, for a phone to work as an FM radio, the wired headset has to be plugged in to act as the antenna. Bluetooth headsets won't work, as there's no cable to receive the radio signal.
Similarly, if the usb port on the phone isn't wired up to the FM radio hardware inside, it's never going to receive a signal either.
I don't think anything's going to come of this, but I commend Dutty for trying.

I will have another run through the registries to see if I can find anything else regarding he radio. Someone told me its the same with some other phone, that the tuner is build it the headset so I feel 85% that this coulld work for the kaiser with the same headset as the polaris

Would it be possible that the Polaris has another chip for FM? I dunno just a wild guess. I want FM too, but it doesn't make sense that it doesn't work. I just let my friend borrow my Tilt (he's going out of town and needed GPS); so I'm unable to test at the moment, but will do when I get it back. Since I got a Tilt it didn't come with a headset, but I have one of those extUSB to female 3.5mm things from eBay that I've been using with my Trinity. We'll see how it goes.

Your absolutely right but the kaiser and polaris is almost the same,
If I told you I flash a polaris rom on my kaiser with just changing some drivers and I flash it without editing it and it booted and worked 100%

Having read the thread the both use the same chipset and no-one can see an extra chip for FM. It's way above my head though. . I imagine you need to get the radio to recognise the antenna and all should work... Dutty...?
Another Possibilty is that its dependant on a specific Rom Radio like before with gps
Hi all,
Since the announcement of WM7 I've been looking more and more into Android handsets as they are going the way to be 'our' toys, right?
One application I use a lot under WM is WMWiFiRouter, which allows me to route my 3g connection to WiFi and essentially use my phone as a router.
Does such a wireless method exist for Android? This software enables me to use 3g on my netbook without using a dongle, therefore having to switch my phone off and miss calls.
Thanks
(hope this is in the right section!)
Android does this WAY better then any of the other OS's. Check out:
http://code.google.com/p/android-wifi-tether/
Supports encryption, vibration on connect and a tonne of other cool stuff. Then for more speed there's the USB tether, which is identical other then using USB.

Many thanks for the info - Wifi routing is one of the best uses for my mobile on the go and knowing Android can do this, and well, has put it squarely in the cross-hairs when it comes to my next mobile purchase.
You don't have to turn your phone off to use wired tether.
Will this allow USB to Wifi (to use my phone as a USB Wifi adapter)? WMWifiRouter does this.

I should imagine you can. Should be able to connect to wifi on phone then enable USB tether.
I cannot test as I am without broadband in my flat
Can someone confirm please.

I can confirm that this works.
I tried it last night. Works fine.
Only works on Vista, 7, or Linux apparently.
Note. The portable hotspot is an easy alternative to connecting to a computer by ad-hoc, which you cannot do by default. Just tell the computer to connect to your Android ap automatically.

I also am looking for a wifi tether app I can use w/o rooting the evo, maybe something that I can pay a one time fee or something.
Is there no TRUE wireless router application yet? I miss my Pre showing up as a REAL router, not this ad-hoc crap. My laptop would auto-connect, and everything worked a lot more smoothly on my Pre.

You either have to root or pay Sprint $30 a month.
I really wish I can do this Wifi stuff w/o being root.
I miss WMWifirouter.
I use PDAnet and I hate the USB connection.
Is there a way I can play Music through my bluetooth Headset? I have a Nokia BH200 and the PS3 Bluetooth (1st Gen). If done some searching and I still cant figure it out. Is there an app or something that I need? I tried the long press on the device under bluetooth and clicked options but didn't work.
Thanks in advance

Your bluetooth headset need to support A2DP profile.
There's two ways.
The first way, the bluetooth headpiece has to support A2DP. Most at this point do not. If it does, however, you can set it up in the bluetooth devices to be either a bluetooth headset OR a bluetooth headphone.
The second way is with a program called Super BT Mono Froyo. There is a paid and a free version. Not sure what the difference is, but I'm sure some research on your part can take care of that.
With Super BT Mono Froyo, there is simply an on button and an off button. Lacks luster, but it works pretty well for me. Also, it bypasses the need for your headpiece to have A2DP.
Thats good info man thanks ill give it a whirl. Do you have to have Froyo to use the app you mentioned? Im rooted using cognition. Thanks again

Buy a BT headset with A2DP support. There are a lot of them out there, some look just like normal BT headset like my Jabra BT8040.
A2DP is the only official way to get music out of any phone.
Really? I found the program on another forum about two months ago, I've been using it on my Captivate with all the roms I've tried, no problems at all. So far I've had Cognition, Cognadian Bacon, and Axura, and Super Mono Froyo worked with all the Froyo roms.

I said offical way. Means you can use with any phone, current of future, smart or dumb, out of box without any other software. Of course you can keep try finding an app for whatever your current phone is. But when you switch to a new phone running different OS, you will have to find new app (may or maynot exist).

I believe you are mistaken, and the wifi version has no GPS.
I have a bluetooth GPS receiver that I used with my Viewsonic g tablet but that required an "blueGPS" app to get it to work. I imagine with Touchpad may also require a third app to get it to work. An app that is likely not available for the Touchpad.
Are their any app for the Touchpad that can use a GPS?
There are apps in the hp-market. But i can't make out if they
all are real gps or if they need wlan/inet too.
Most of them also cost money.
I think i also read somewhere about using extern gps with that app
called usbpassthrough. But that app looks like some handy app, because
it didn't start in fullmode.
Ah, my apologies, my information was based off of a chart I googled last Saturday after purchase. It did not differentiate between the wifi and 3g/4g versions. I guess I can cross searching for a new GPS app off my to do list...

LOL... yeah, no need for a GPS app.
I wonder if there is a way to get my bluetooth GPS receiver to work with the Touchpad. I got a confirmation e-mail about 3 or 4 days later from HP.com but it hasn't shipped so I'm not certain I will actually get one.
Anyone got some info on this, with GPS this table would be such a great product.

Install Preware and get Navit. The app works fine in fullscreen and either orientation. Just let us know if you manage to get your dongle working.
I've got a Bluetooth dongle but the touchpad couldn't find it... I tried selecting OTHERS but nothing...wondering why...
EDIT: I found that we cannot any other device other than webOS, I suspect it's all about the stack, hopefully some developer out there can hack it.

Reading that ^ I tried an old cheapie chinese BT GPS receiver I have lying around, it found and connected in a couple of seconds. Now we just need some GPS software to make the right calls to it!
To both of you who've successfully paired your GPS dongles, does GPS show up as an available location service?
If not, it shouldn't be particularly difficult to make a patch.

Seriously now, the stack already supports SPP, and GPS communication is given as a code example!

no, iam not able to do anything with it. There is a Navit, but i haven't try it yet.
No you can't do anything with it, none of the existing gps apps work because they are looking for an internal gps module, they don't look to bluetooth for it. What we would need is an app that works via the bluetooth stack? the way the old Palm Tx etc did.
As a gamer I am really interested in this phone because of it's awesome specs but there is one important detail I would really like to know. Can you connect a gamepad, like the dualshock 4 for example, through otg on this device? I would really appreciate it if an owner ran a test to see if it's possible.
P.S. I want to run emulators on it.
Can't anyone tell me if this thing supports gamepads? Please!

I am a input delay freak. I have enough android devices that have disappointing me when it comes to bluetooth gamepad connection. I just want a simple, lag free, wired connection. Wires, while they might be uncomfortable, they will always beat wireless when it comes reliability and speed of data transfer.
Last time I used sixaxis on my Nexus 4, it was flawless but I'll ask my cousin if he can bring his ds4 so I can test it with a USB cable and sixaxis
