this is a fully working Hero rom for vodafone's Magic (I think that someone has posted a version for the HTC branded).
The porting has been made by me, with a cooperation of nk02...
Here is a trick for those who want performance, and want to come back to other rom, before doing this just try this:
settings-->applications-->manage-->touchflo-->clear defaults
than the first time you press home it ask you wich home you want to chose, check use always this option, and press Home (not touchflow), and there you have, a speedy rom with the good things of Sense (except for the widgets, but you won't get them in other roms anyway )

-New version of swap application, now it let you set the swappiness,it's the 3rd parameter in swapinfo.txt ( by default it's setted to 20), first time it ask root permission tap always allow, if it says that the application it's not responding just hit wait, and everything will go ok!
I found this rom much more usable with touchFlow
(the best configuration on swap that I found is: 32MB, and 10 of swappiness, try it editing the /sdcard/swapinfo.txt
Patch for swap:
(in the rom you'll find the lastest version, this one is the first version)

Here is an automatic apps that do the work for you,
it set up a new swap file with standard dimension of 65MB in /sdcard/swapfile.swp,
and for those who wants to personalize it,
just change the file /sdcard/swapinfo.txt
is obvious but I clear that too: first line path, second line dimension
Don't need to do anything to make it work just install it, and reboot the phone, it'll do the work for you!

i know right. I d/l'ed and looked through it. It looks pretty nice. Not a dev though but its not a themed 1.5 looks like the full rosie. I'll try flashing it tomorrow when I get to work.

Ok it booted up and I registerd my Google account and all that, and the dang thing just rebooted after i completed the wizard.
EDIT: Ok it rebooted really quick and the home screen is taking a while to load.

I've had some time, and I started playing around with the last CM release 3.9.2 so, I've tweaked a few things, and it came out with this ROM, if you just want the plain porting there is a thread for that, otherwise, give it a try:

-few tweaking on init.rc
-gived more memory trashold for the home apps (it shouldn't effect everybody, just the one that have the home full of widget)
-FULLY multi-language support ( in the CM version, almost the 70% of apps are in english)
-Upgraded apn list, with italians carrier
-Using Launcher of irrenhaus (last update 30/07)
-Using modified Mms apps of senab (it allows you to change user agent)
-Using modified Phone from cytown
-Other changes that I don't remember of!

Given it a go...Browser will not run for me, not suprising as it's based on a rom for which Browser crashes.
Any idea what it could be, as I'm assuming Browser (and therefore email and market!) work for most people. I've been wiping before flashing, and have tried a new, formatted mSD card. Other things seem to work fine, phonecalls, sms etc.
Would love to get these newer rom's working as they feel a lot faster!

I just added the italian's one to the cyanogen's list... don't know witch carrier do you have, I'll see if I could find the settings for it!

Find a bug... in unlock screen i am at 62% battery and says "plug charger"... I dont wipe before instal it, but coming from a modified CRC1, dunno if i need to wipe before instal it.
Is compcache enabled? or must to use swapper with swap partition? Have a swap partition of 32mb when i instaled rom.
And last one, could you add the apn from vodafone spain in next release? i attach a TXT with it
This seems to be a cm 3.9.2 bug
They found out that it only seems to be in other languages than english.
In english it is fine. In every other language you get the plug in charger msg all the time.

Currently I'm using this ROM together with the Kspec Oreo v34 lite for CM 3.9.2 and I find it very stable and speedy.

First release, so theres no such thing as a changelog yet.
Dalvik-cache is stored on the /data partition, which is wiped when you do "Wipe data/factory reset."

Nice to see a new developer around here, I may eventually get into the ROM making business myself now that I'll have a spare phone. I'll be glad to try out this ROM in a few, I'll let you know what I think of it then.
P.S. How hard is to to bake a ROM anyway? I'm just curious ..

But its missing the apps running, when I go to "applications/manage applications" I can only see the ones I just downloaded from the market, also on the market I don't see a paid app called "my backup pro"
On terminal emulator the "free" command cannot be found...
On internal mem only had 62mb before installing any app...
Good work so far no fc....

You can have any SPL for magics but you have right SPL so yes you can use it.

All of the enhancements are listed in the OP, just some kernel tweaks and compcache basically. At the moment, I have no plans on adding any apps to the ROM other than the stock android & google apps. I want to keep this ROM as smooth and clean as possible.

Youtube will not work, there are no HW accel drivers, this has been said many times. But the OTA for eclair has started.

yes i'm using sanpei's kernel as it's the only one that works properly with android 2.0+
and it's at alpha 1 so don't expect power saving

wifi should work with my wlan.ko. this part is not very different in each version of ROMs.
I hope I can work together with every developers who has an open mind, but I can't spend all my time on ROM development.
maybe someone can make a wiki and leave the questions he doesn't know the answer open on it. then I and others who want to make some contribution can fill it with what we knows.

The problem is its not a simple solution off swapping the WLAN.ko as usual because this rom originally had a tiwlan_drv.ko and another ko file that I can't recall right now... as well as a a tiwlan loader instead of WLAN loader in the bin section etc. So i have to figure put how to change the whole system to work with our devices. I know WiFi is a huge killer for most (it is for me). I was hoping that someone out there would have a solution to the wifi problem

if it is difficult to find out a way to make this one working, we can try to add goodies, replace things and make changes into a working ROM, as much as we can.
if we start at the old one, and finally making it works and looks like the new one, we will know how we can start at the new one also. so there is no real different between this 2 ways.

the orginal Expresso ROM --> new one --> B
a ported Expresso ROM --> C
M: something you want to add.
N: something you want to replace.
operation X (M, N): add M into A from B, and replace N in A with things from B.
you want C, you can:
1. start at A (means base on A and start to modify),
a) determine what will be included in M and N
b) do X(M, N). if something doesn't work, goto step (c). else goto step (a).
c) undo X, goto (a)
2. start at B, replace things and test if it works, until all things work properly
both of these 2 ways could make us get a C.
btw, in 1, sometimes you need replace many files at same time as they are a group (must be replaced at same time or else it should not work).

Ah yes ok i understand thanks! I was considering trying that but i figured that i've come so far on this one that it would be easier to keep on going. But if i can't make any progress on wifi within the next week or so i'll try something else.

Do you think it's better than last version(2.6.32). In my case, Radio:1.59.46.12, Kernel:2.6.32, but no-one can run smooth in my Polaris include Froyo, Eclair, Donut.
Camera and Headset can not work everytime.
Let it pass, maybe I'm without LUKY
For now everything runs smooth and is working! ) cam, wlan, standby and the apps i use. Will report about bt and gps later as i'm driving a longer distance today. Cheers and thx again!

Thanks downgrading the kernel to 2.6.25 now the installation of Incubus26jc's Super Froyo [RLS15] on my XDA Orbit 2 (Pola 200) works. Before with the new 2.6.32 kernel I didn't have success at all.

i used the haret and initrd.lzma (renamed to .gz) from the sticked thread of using android on windows.
i tried to use rls15
