Market not showing copy protected / paid apps after root - XPERIA X10 Themes and Apps

Hi,
Im starting a new Thread *intentionally* because in the Issues thread the Problems seems to be igonored, also there are many other issues beeing discussed.
So i hope we can find a Solution quicker using an extra Thread.
Problem: After Root my X10 is not showing Copy-protected apps in the Market.
How to recreate: Search for "documents" on a untouched X10, it will give you ~99 results. Then root it (new method) it will only give you ~52 results.
I already tried it on an untouched R2BA023, and i got 99 results so its clear that the problem lies within root and not with the Firmare itself.

I dont know if this helps but it has worked for me!
I copied the default.prop from system folder(not root folder) of my original firmware, and replaced the one from root, and waited a while. Now I have all bought apps back!Only fancy widget isnt there !

anyone tryed market-enabler ?

We have a discussion on Market Enabler.

I will try this and report back, thanks

I have only the top 3 lines of the root default.prop not changed.the rest is from my original one.

It is a little strange with market!
We havent touched the prop files (execpt on X10a version) but even if i flash clean R2ba023 market dont work correctly.
Then i rerooted and tried much and found nothing.
And tada it works. -> what i've done .... noting. it suddenly worked.
It could be that there is a major firmware problem like before on R1...016 @ SE
Regards
Bin4ry

Yes.its strange!!The greatest Problem is the Copy Protection and the Variables they used for that.
Sent from my X10i using Tapatalk

I get a Permission denied (yes i mounted /system as RW)

Ok, managed it now (didnt do it as root)
Still, no copy protected apps -.-
BTW, overwriting build.prop ->Brick

I've got the same problem. Got some paid apps but not all (Sling Player I miss you).
Collider do you think you can post a little more detail about what you did to get it working again?

I have done nothing special, keep the top three lines from default.prop
The whole lower text was changed with the same content from the default.prop
of my first original firmware.
copy this new default.prop to sdcard and then write it with
adb shell
mount -o remount,rw -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock2 /system
dd if=/sdcard/default.prop of=/system/default.prop
My new default.prop for my Country.
Dont know if the cut is needed, maybe you can change the whole default.prop
Hope this helps you with your own default.prop in your Country.
Many props i know

Hi @collider,
When, where, how you have got that file in the previous or first release? I need the file for Vodafone Spain. I should reinstall a shipped firmware like 014 or 016 and then copy the file? or There is another way?
Thanks in advance

I think its because Google haven't yet authorised R2BA023

i installed the original firmware(first release) i've saved before root and backuped default.prop with astro, then rooted again.
Lot of work but it helped.
Another way is you can get your own original firmware from davinci team i think.
I can not guarantee that it works for all.
I read somewhere on the Internet that ro.build.fingerprint is the Problem,no idea.

Thanks. I'll try to get the file.

No Joy for me so far
Google indicates to me that the important information there is the fingerprint, and that we also need to be concerned about the fingerprint in the build.prop.
My build.prop did not have a a fingerprint.
Tried one that I was able to find from another phone on my carrier but no luck.
One of my friends has an unrooted unmodded xperia x10a on the same carrier as me, I'm going to try and hit him up so I can download his build.prop and his default.prop and see what happens.

I don't know if this will help... I am having a similar issue... but I am NOT ROOTED.
I tried to root - OH, how I tried! - but I got stuck on step 2, with "device not found, device not found, choose option 6, press any key" and nothing happening on the phone.
So I used SEUS on my PC.
Oddly, the one with the SE PC Companion said "You are on the latest version".
But, the standalone update software updated me to R2BA020 (I was on R1FA16 before, O2 UK version, and I assume from the working step 1 I had got R1FA16 generic UK).
So. Essentially, I went from R1FA16 O2 UK -> R2BA020 generic from my half-arsed attempts to root. But, battery life WAY more than doubled, so I was quite happy.
Until I noticed several of my apps weren't on the store anymore... they were just... missing. Two I know of are Death Star Clock (I LOVED that) and MyPlayer (not too bothered, I managed to install Beebplayer).
I contacted a dev of the Death Star clock to ask if he'd taken it off, but he checked and all was still there. He told me to search for his dev name on the market - diggidy.net - and even that came back with nothing for me.
This is on an UNROOTED R2BA020 phone. So... I am hoping the solution will not require rooting. Or else I am in trouble, because I have given up after getting stuck on step 2 time after bloody time!
All I wanted, all I ever wanted, was to improve my battery life and remove stupid bloody useless Moxier apps!
Good luck with finding a solution... I hope my info might narrow down the cause in some way. My phone never got to the rooting stage so surely it can't be that?

i searched for 'deathstar' and 'death star' from my generic r2ba020 uk generic and got no results either so if i searched correctly its not an issue related to your phone specifically

Modified TC5-RC8 update

Update: Here's an updated update. This update updates your phone so that it is updated. Note: if you apply this update over the previous update, it updates the update that you had previously updated your phone with, so that you have the most recent update.
This one contains the same stuff as my RC30 v1.2 update. Go read the notes for it over in that thread
Plus! You now get a voice dialer, amazon MP3, and all 4 IM types available on the US firmware (aim, gtalk, windows live and yahoo).
Note: to get the other IM providers, you have to delete the improvider settings after you install the update. Open a terminal and type the following command as root:
rm -r /data/data/com.android.providers.im
Then reboot the phone, and you should have all 4 IM providers available.
And now, for something completely different. A man with 3... err. nevermind, it's just the download link.

http://android-dls.com/forum/index.php?f=24&t=190&rb_v=viewtopic (see forum post for actual link to file)
----------------------
As usual, this can only be installed if you have already installed the modified recovery image. If you are running the official RC30 or RC8 build, you won't be able to use this.
To install, rename the file to update.zip, put it on the sd card, and reboot the phone into recovery mode (home + power). Once the recovery mode comes up, press alt+L to turn on the text display, and alt+S to apply the update.
This build can be installed by anyone that has the modified recovery image - it will run on both US or UK phones. Note though, some of the functionality in the US version is missing in the UK version: Voice dialing, myfaves, amazon mp3 store, chat messages via SMS.
And there might be other miscellaneous issues with running this build on a US phone.. possible MMS issues, etc. If you do encounter anything, feel free to post about it (it's good to know what works and doesn't), but don't expect it to be fixed . I may be able to fix some stuff.. but I can't work miracles
For all you people out there that aren't on t-mobile, installing this should fix the myfaves issues that y'all have been having (sending SMSs to t-mobile.. etc.)
Note: you can freely switch between the modded RC30 and modded RC8 build. If you install one and don't like it, you can always switch back.
Big thanks to SGTDavePwnage for finding the download, and for testing out the update! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=443713

Ooo. hot AND sticky! I'm gonna have to go pick up some cinnamon rolls now.
Thanks pof
Ooh I'm so going to try that.. no MyFaves..
I'm still nowhere on making my own build... My Ubuntu has decided that I wasn't entitled to networking anymore.. (i hate that thing)
Thanks for your hard work!
No network for you! 1 year!
Just throw Ubuntu on a VM, you'll be building android in no time
Thanks JESUSFREKE, you did magic !
Well, I did screw up my network driver while trying to update the ATI ones.. but don't ask.
So I just updated my phone with your update and..... it seems to work
It took an awful lot of time to reboot so I got scared but it finally came up fine. I still have root of course (thanks so much)
Wifi ok, Camera ok, motion sensor ok.
Data.. I only get Edge, but that could be my provider not having 3G coverage here. To be verified. I don't use it much anyway since in my country the cheapest data plan is $40 for 50Mb.. :|
The dialer does not automatically format number in US format!! Yippee... I know it's a small thing but it was bugging me.
All contacts got lost (of course since they were managed by MyFaves). But syncing worked. With some errors in the background but apparently not too significant.
SMS ok. I'm not sure what you're calling SMS Chat. The SMS app still looks like a chat. I assume it's some T-Mo US feature that I won't miss.
And most important of all Mario Simulator still works fine . Seriously I can't find anything that doesn't work.
There is a new app "web'n'walk" from T-Mo which can not be removed through the normal application manager. If it's not replacing any android service i guess that a little remount and busybox mv should do the trick.
Amazon is indeed missing. I wonder if people who care about it could just copy the .apk and .odex file over and get it back. I don't care about it so I won't try. People still buy music?
I've been looking at logcat while writing this and I couldn't see any crazy SMS behavior.
So all in all a good upgrade for non T-Mo users with a US phone. For what it's worth I recommend it.

Hopefully I'm not being stupid - but is this the one for the UK? Whats the difference between RC30 and TC5-RC8 ?
Thanks for your hard work. T-Mobile in the UK have pushed out their update today - it keeps asking me if I want it (which I keep saying no) but need to make sure I get the correct image!
Yes, this is for the UK. (but will work on US handsets)
It is the new update that is currently being pushed out by T-mobile uk (but modified to keep root)
Functionally its not that different to RC7.
Think of it as the equivalent to RC30 (with all the nice US bits removed)
If i already installed the Modded RC30 update using the step by step in this forum..
do i just put this on my SD card and go into recovery mode and hit Alt+S
or do i have to do all the steps again?
i do not know if i have root or not... i tried a chmod on a font file and it wouldn;t let me.. even when i put "su"
said it was a read-only file system

Assuming you have correctly installed the modded RC30, you just need to rename the zip to update.zip and put this on your SD card and go into recovery mode and hit Alt+S.
To check if you have root, try re-mounting (mount -oremount,rw /dev/block/mtdblock3 /system)
thanks once i find a wifi connection i shall try it before i update. I am not on tmobile and mainly want this update to prevent text messages being sent out..

Yes, the Uk software doesnt use MyFaves (which controls contacts on US software).
That will be one side affect of switching between regions.
You can still re-sync with google and it will re-download them tho.

I got my black UK G1 out of a T-Mobile shop last Friday and by Sunday they stopped selling them because there was a "bad batch" meaning my dad had to get the white one. Anyhoo...i have a dead pixel (which i can't stop looking at) so i took it back to the shop today but they still don't have black ones so i'll have to wait till Monday...but...i presume i'll end up with an updated one...

I've updated to d107, im using noob's new rom, everything is fine EXCEPT I cant for the life of me get rid of the ****ing asphalt demo. I have root manager, root explorer, titanium, everything (licensed versions also if that even matters) and everytime I try to delete/remove and reboot that simple bastard is still there. I mount as r/w in two of the above mentioned programs and still nothing....is there something that im missing or something else that i should be doing? it just figures, I can re-install this that and the other rom, update, removed apps etc without any kind of problem ive seen mentioned on here, but when it comes to that demo (my now arch nemesis) I cant remove it!!! thanks for the help everybody.

ok thanks man, I'll give it another try...cant figure out for the life of me why this isnt working....I know that i'm surely missing something so simple.

i have no idea!!!
tried exactly what you said and its still there - went into titanium looked at properties of app - said only this: libasphault5.co
looked for it in corresponding folder and no luck.....I may have missed a step or uninstalled it incorrectly? still working on it

Lenovo IdeaTab a2107

Hello everyone,
I bought this tablet on ebay and it seems that the ROM preinstalled is a test ROM.
I searched the web to find a custom ROM but I couldn't find much info.
I found the way to root the tablet but that's all.
Is there anyone who can indicate me a link to a stock rom or a good custom one?
Thanks for those who will read and help!
What do you mean by TEST ROM?!!! this is ridiculous, I have the tablet and it's working like a charm even I received over air update yesterday, the only odd is that I can't use it as a phone because Lenovo has no license yet for that it's available only in the Chinese version, and I think this will be solved later when they start launching their mobile phones all over the world.
Hello mmis,
Test rom is not the correct terms but I didn't know how to call that !
The problem is that every widget I put on the desktop is loading but never display anything.
The information in "About tablet" are the following :
Model number : IdeaTab A2107A-H
Android Version : 4.0.3
Baseband version : MAUI.11AMD.W11.50.SP.V13, 2012/05/25 01:09
Build number : A2107A-H_S307_120605
If I search for system updates, it doesn't find anything. If I click on firmware update, the settings FC.
I made a factory reset but no luck.
That's why I thought it wasn't a stable version.
As long as you tried the factory reset with no luck, I think in your case its better to get back to Lenovo customer service or your local dealer if it's under warranty, they should be able to help you. it's a new device in the market and it will be difficult to find custom ROM for a while or even someone to give model-specific help. Good Luck
Would you mind linking to the instructions on how to root this thing?
Sure, no problem !
After several hours of search and difficulties to register onto Chinese websites
I managed to find the attached file. I take no credit for the tool because it was developped by someone else (SNARL I guess)
It was missing the superuser apk inside so I put it back and also translate the steps to English.
Here are the steps :
- Connect the tablet in Debug USB mode
- Launch root.bat
- The device will reboot at each of the 3 steps
If you need more info, don't mind to ask!

Fantastic, thank you very much.
LePad Chinese Model A2107A-H
I have a Chinese issue model of the A2107A-H that has the dual sim card cellular feature. I've been trying to get it rooted to get rid of the Chinese apks on it, but normal rooting software has not been successful so far, including the one posted here from SNARL via Ichi go's post. I get a "device not found" error message and in device manager on my PC it indicates that there is no driver installed for the device. I have "debug" turned on and the USB link seems to be working as I can see file folders on the device, but the rooting software will not run. I've tried several of the most well known methods with no luck. Any ideas on this would be appreciated and in particular, if there is a driver I need to have installed to get the rooting software to work??
TIA!!!
Rob
First of all many thanks to you ichi go it was very easy to root this device as instructed, but as the one I have does not have the phone calling capability, I replaced the phone.apk with different one but now the device does not recognize the sim card at all, I tried to push many versions of phone.apk to system folder with no luck, it seems even if I put the apk in the system folder the device will not launch it at all, could you please help me in that.
I've had this tablet for a while and love it. I just got the OTA update and its downloading now.
I'm a also keen on rooting it and inns installing a custom ROM. I guess once its a bit more common, we can expect a dedicated Dev community here on XDA
The update failed to install. I'm not rooted or anything but upon restart it gave a signature verification error.
Any way to fix this?
Edit: got it! was a path error since i had changed the default storage.
but i can't figure out any changes

How does your device appear in the device manager? For sure, the adb driver isn't installed. If it's not the case, download android sdk and then the Google USB driver in the extra section.

FM Tuner - perfect for in-dash?
The in-dash car tablet people should be happy to hear the A2107 has an FM Tuner. It's one of the few tablets that has a radio tuner, and the only modern 7" that I know of. I just ordered one. I will report back.
The Chinese stock rom I installed has the phone ability and that works very well! The problem of this stock rom is that the Google services aren't there. I'm trying to find a way to install the zip file but I need to know the exact path of the recovery partition.
I tried to find it with the cat /proc/emmc command but this partition isn't listed.
If anyone has an idea...

So I understood that you managed to flash the Chinese stock ROM, am I right?!! please tell me how to do as I am facing serious problems with my device, I managed to root and then I changed the phone.apk (what the hell I was thinking of) and now I have the the error message android.process.acore stopped working and sometimes the sittings force closed, I tried to re root, factory reset and deleting cache of almost everything with no use, even I contacted the Lenovo CS to reinstall the original firmware, I think they will charge me for that :crying:
by the way I don't have contacts anymore (I installed it manually) and the most impressive thing that the device doesn't recognize the SIM card (I cleverly deleted the original one phone.apk :silly and what ever apk I push into the system/app folder and change the permissions it will not install after reboot.
So...what do you think guys?!! any help?
I've confirmed this does work on the A2107-F.
I had some trouble with the ADB driver. I can't post links, so you will have to google it, but I used adb_driver_20110720.zip for the drivers. I forced it to install via Update Driver > Browse my computer > let me pick > have disk > pointed to the android_winusb.inf file > selected the thinkpad option, it was the bottom of the two.
I also had to manually turn the tablet back on after the first reboot, but it went fine after that.

Broke my New phone Installing Gapps??

I just bought a Chinese phablet and was excited about the good deal I got for $250. The phone (Ginwave G503) arrived on Monday and I was disappointed to learn that the retailer did not install google apps as they do for some of their chinese phones. I figured I would just look around the internet and just install them myself. This proved to be much harder than I thought. I came across a German forum for Chinese phones and installed the google apps package that one user had uploaded to my system/app/ folder and it didn't work. I was told in the forum that It might not fork because I used some old files for Android 2.3. So they pointed me to a thread with a newer version and I deleted everything I had copied into the system/app/ folder and then replaced them with the new files. Then even less worked. My phone didn't ring anymore, sound didnt work, and the play store wouldn't even start at all anymore (it gave me a download manager stopped error or something like that). So then I figured out that those files were probably for Android 4.1 and my phone has Android 4.0.4. So then I found a package on rootzwiki for 4.0.4. I again deleted all the stuff i had put in the system/app/ folder and did a factory reset.
When I restarted the phone I was not able to install my ES File Explorer from my SD Card again. When I click on it it asked me if I want to install to phone or SD card, no matter what i select it says "X Application not installed". So I went into the chinese app store that was on the phone (called 360 followed by some chinese symbols) and actually found ES File Explorer on there. But when I tried to install it from ther, it downloaded and then gave me the same error. No matter what apps I try to install, I get this error now. What can I do? Did I break my phone?
If I did end up breaking the Rom and can't find a replacement rom for this phone online is there like a universal android version that can be installed on any phone? Would there be any way I could somehow play a new Android on my phone without having to know how to program something
Wow.. This forum is extraordinarily worthless

At this point, it's not where he bought it from, it's what he did to it. Sorry to say OP, but you're very far up ****'s creek.
If you can't get ahold of the factory ROM and no one has made an aftermarket ROM for your device, you're going to have to learn to compile yourself. I wouldn't advise you do that, however. Based on your original post, you don't do any research before mindlessly flashing any old thing from the internet to your device.
If I'm coming off as a ****, that's because you want to call xda worthless when you clearly have your head up your ass. Someone might've tried helping you before you insulted the forums.
The only thing I can suggest now is using recovery mode to factory reset your device. This might only work if you still have your factory recovery; you never mentioned that you flashed a new one and I can't imagine you flashed anything to your phone without a custom one... But again, reading your OP it sounds like you just flash things all willy-nilly.
BTW, your device didn't have gapps because it's probably not approved by Google to access the play store. No access to play store = no gapps.

Before anyone ever uses a new device thee shall make a Rom Backup; just in case... (at least i would do this).
Anyway; i don't understand why you've put the *.apk file inside the \System\apps folder...
You should try (have tried) to install Android SDK (If you've not installed already); and install the *.apk through adb.
Check these:
http://www.xda-developers.com/xda-tv-2/pro-tip-number-4-installing-applications-using-adb-xda-tv/
[and]
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=879701
I don't believe that the operating system blocks "Google Apps / Play Store". Either way i'm not going to say that it is impossible. But it doesn't make much sense.
But like "rockingondrums" said; If your device doesn't have have "gapps"; it's probably because it's not approved by Google to access the play store.
No access to Play Store = No "gapps"...
(Never seen that happening though)
Also you didn't need to root your device for that. "Play Store" doesn't require Root Permissions...
In order to help you (and help yourself up); I've done research for you (just because i understand your situation).
1st of all you shouldn't insult XDA Forum. This Forum has loads of information scattered around. Just dig like everyone else... There's probably the info you need. Yes it may take hours, day or months if you have no idea of what you're messing with. If the info is there, just don't expect people to do the research for you...
But, XDA is far from being "worthless". I've lost the count of how many times it helped me; and what i've learned is priceless. (And i still don't know everything i want to know ^^)
2nd; [Get your Device Working]
If you haven't messed up much... (Like flashing a wrong Rom)
Use "Recovery Mode" to "Factory Reset" your device.
I'm not sure if the method i'm about to show, works for every device or for your device; but it's a good example.
On my device i would do:
- Turn off the device;
- Press and hold in the following order: Camera Button; Then Volume - and then Power Button; let it vibrate 3 times; and then release the buttons.
In other words; this will "Reinstall / Reset" your system. You'll see in your screen if it works. Just dont turn off your device in any way while it's executing that operation.
Note: It may be different on your device. If it is... You have to search for a different method that will work for you.
Search this forum, Google, or Ginwave Website (if it has one...)
After this; i recommend you to do some search and learn on how to backup & restore your device.
Search XDA Forum. Grab some examples, compare the info you've got; then backup that device.
3rd; If you've flashed a wrong Rom; then you really have to compile your own, as i also couldn't find a Stock or Custom Rom for your device.
Note: If you (ever) find a Rom for your device; remember that it has to be A ROM FOR YOUR DEVICE! AND NOT SOME OTHER. Otherwise you'll probably end with a dead device...
And that would be sad and wasted money.
Here's a good example on how to flash a Rom and a good place to start with:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=Flashing_Guide_-_Android
Do some more reasearch; and now don't ever say that XDA is worthless.
P.S - Experienced People aren't here every day and every hour just for you... Sometimes you've got to wait and pray for a god answer (lol - so true...).
I hope this helps solving your problem.
Best Regards;

Hi,Did you have chance to find ROM-replacement? D you have any ROM image for this Ginwave GnoteM?

[Q] ASUS Memo Pad HD 7 (ME173x) can't upgrade

So I got my self this nice tab ASUS Memo Pad HD 7 (ME173x), rooted the thing as soon as I got home, removed some bloatware and then after few hours a notification for an OTA upgrade hits me (wich ofc was not available manually).
You are obviously reading this 'couse the upgrade fails, just a broken droid when it tries to flash the upgrade.
Maybe the upgrade is like of a patch (it's just 56MB) and it fails me because I have removed some (well lots actually...) of those nice installed apps?
What to do? Wait for a maybe more substantial upgrade? Look for a full factory image? Just swap the tablet with a new one claiming that "OMG doesn-t-work" (hmm and what after I root the new one, de-bloat, and an other new upgrade hits the air...).
Thanks!
I found the upgrade, wich is cached in /cache/dlpkgfile (and it's a *.zip).
If I browse it I found a lot of apps patches in system/app : would it be safe to erase just those I've disinstalled, re-zip and try to upgrade?
Well the whole upgrade has a checksum, which is not easy to recreate as the script makepatch works (I guess) with a full source / dest combo. Nor it would be simply to re-install some of the apps from market as the versions could mismatch with those provided in the base.
This means that we should need backups from a original un-upgraded device, and see if that would get through the patching.
A factory image would be useful actually.
Hey, ea_.
Sorry that I can't really help you with the update or anything, but I was wondering if you could upload that dlpkg file somewhere for me.
A friend of mine has a MeMO Pad 7 HD here, and he messed up when (improperly) installing Chainfire 3D, rendering the device soft-bricked. Now it's all cool, because I can still access the system and manipulate it, and it's rooted on top of that, so I'm still in control. The problem is as you've mentioned: those idiots at ASUS don't have any upgrade/recovery images posted, so while I am capable of restoring the stupid thing, there's absolutely nowhere [that I can see] to restore FROM!
I was hoping to find someone with a tablet like this, who could share his system files or a recovery image of some sort from which I could recover the device...

Too bad: I gave back my unit yesterday for a replacement (so I could back-up the whole thing as stock) but my shop was out of stock.
They say maybe they'll get some more by 9 August.

Sweet!
Essentially, I wanted the entire /system (/system/*) so I could compare all the files and find the ones that were modified, or in the worst case: replace them all with the working ones and keep the image for future recovery.
Seeing that the /system partition here is nearly 700MB in .tar.gz form, it might be a bit cumbersome to upload, so if there's a problem with that, these seem more essential to me than the rest:
/system/bin
/system/etc
/system/lib
/system/vendor
/system/build.prop

Click to collapse
Also, /system/usr seems like it may contain device-specific/personal stuff, so you might want to skip this one either way.
Many thanks!
P.S. Sorry for shamelessly hijacking and derailing the thread. The one I created is here and may be more appropriate.
2 options:
1) restore the removed "bloatware" to its original location
I had the same problem. You can check the update log on the device after the update. I believe it is in /cache/recovery/last_log and you will find the problem.
In Android 4.2 you can better disable bloatware via app manager and disable apps you don't need. Or just rename .apk to .apk.ORG in /system/app (after used stop command and then rm /data/dalvik-cache/* and reboot)
2) restore complete firmware with these tools:
http://4pda.ru/forum/index.php?showtopic=486532
Latest full firmware is ME173X_WW_user_4.2.4.06716_20130918
If you use flash_tool.exe from ULK173_20130618_2123_CSC then load scatter file (MT6589_Android_scatter_emmc.txt) from the main firmware, then flash it.
See attached picture. It is a factory reset process!
Pandawill also has a section in the forum describing flash process: http://www.pandawillforum.com/showt...er-PX2-MTK8389-Quad-Core-(update-Sep-6th-2013)
