Wondering if anyone knows of a widget for toggling mobile network... there are some out there, but they mostly fail at toggling part.
I use htcs widget. Download it from the download more HTC widgets.

Not a widget but I think JuiceDefender can toggle this.
That was a great suggestion. It almost does... but gives me the notification that the apn wont work with my phone. But that is a nice app, thanks for the suggestion. Looking forward to better battery life.

sorry to bring up an old thread but other than what has been suggested has anyone found a widget that can control data on the EVO..... none of the listed items do the trick for me

It's free, it can toggle lots of settings, and it has three methods for toggling your data connection, including APN rename.
Some apps can switch your data connection on by themselves. Renaming your APNs is the only way to make sure that your data connection stays switched off until you switch it back on yourself..
Switchpro is my favorite but since the latest OTA update, it doesn't quite work properly with 2.3

I'm using LauncherPro Beta 0.5.4. I've found replacements for all the HTC Widgets I can no longer use, but I still cannot find a working widget that toggles the 3G data connection. Does anyone have or know of one that works? I found like 3 or 4 on the Android Market and none of them do anything :|

hold the power button on your phone....phone options will pop up...the bottom one turns 3g on/off
So I have an Evo and prefer ADW launcher to Sense. Without the Sense UI I'm missing 4G and Mobile Data toggles. I found a 4G toggle that works nicely, but I have tried many different data toggle widgets in the market and all of them are for GSM phones. Are there any CDMA data widgets that actually work?
i agree. i love launcher pro and i found the same 4g widget but i NEEEEEEEEEEED a toggle for mobile network/3g or its pretty much a deal breaker. i turn mine off and on ALOT to conserve my battery and i get through a nice looooong day without even getting close. (up at 5 and still not in the red to after midnight.) i second this search and give this a bumpity bump...
Get the switchpro widget. It's a buck in the market, but you can also find it online, via search.
Or, just hold down the power button, and click on mobile network.

I've recently switched from HTC Sense to using Launcher Pro -- and I miss nothing except having a mobile data toggle and a 4G toggle.
I'm tired of having to go into Settings (yes, I know you can hold down the power button to turn it off, but it doesn't work) to turn this off. I've searched and searched to find one that will work on the EVO, but haven't had any luck.
Is there a non-HTC widget toggle that lets you switch on and off mobile data (3G) and 4G?
yes search the market for a SwithPro Widget, I also use Launcher Pro and the 4G widget there works just fine.

Does it also allow you to turn on/off the mobile internet? I know many advertise that they do, but don't work.

I downloaded it and put it on my screen but none of the options were for 4g. i see data onnection and 3g-2g
I downloaded it after the developer emailed me back saying it supported the EVO.
It works to turn on/off 4G, but the toggle for mobile internet doesn't work. Very frustrating. Hopefully I'll get another response in 24 hours or I'm getting a refund.

This is exactly what I have been looking for. Its nice and clean with the no background option. It does have a 4G toggle you have to make sure you assign it to one of the slots when you add the widget to your screen.
Hello everyone, this is the first phone that I am using with data (yup, i've been using smartphones without a data plan). so I was wondering what "power control" widgets or shortcuts out there that could switch between 2G and 4G with just 1 click. The reason I wanna do this is that 2G saves battery while I'm not using the phone.
If I am not wrong, most of the power control widgets only "take" you to the setting page and you have to manually check the "use 2G only" box. But then I've also heard of some power control widgets do APN renaming of some sort.. no idea how that works.
in short: Please suggest a widget program that could switch between 2G/"4G" with just 1 click AND that program doesnt drain battery

I like Switch Pro. Not only does it have this switch but it has about 12 others all in one widget. You can also customize it color wise.
2G 3G OnOff by CurveFish toggles between 2G and 4G on my phone with the widget (no sending to setup screen). Don't be fooled by the name though, mine goes from 2 - 4 and back.

Whoops! Sorry, it does send you to the setup screen. I was thinking of another app I have that shuts the network off without going to the setup screen.

I use SuperPower with Sidekick installed. Works great to switch with one button press, or automatically after a certain amount of idle time and/or battery level, etc ... Great power management app in general.

I use it all the time. Just one click. It also has just one click to turn data completely off. I think switch pro is the best option because you can get 8 widgets in one row.

I believe that Elixir has that and there widget takes literally no power, and it can display everything including the 3g/2g switch.

4g switch on the app isnt either working or its grayed out. Not sure if its cause im using leaked GB or not but its the same for my Power Control widgets.
Still looking for the 2g/4g toggle widget and have yet to find it?
Switch Network Type 2G/3G from SoftXPerience.
It stays invisibly in the notifications drop-down screen and takes me to the settings page in a single click.
It's a simple, instant shortcut I've found more accessible than a widget.

SuperPower, requires root and a patch but it will automatically swap between 2G/4G (listed as 3G in the app). You set conditions for the switch, or if you want to do it manually you can do it from the notification bar or with a shortcut on your desktop. So far it's the only app I've found that doesn't just take you to the settings screen.

Honestly, I'm not 100% sure on that. You could always just check the box to keep it enabled, hit the toggle so data is off, and then have a friend send you an MMS to see what happens. If it works, try to access a webpage to make sure data truly is off. If you can get the MMS and the web isn't working (and 4g isn't showing), you should be saving juice while still getting MMS's.
I'm super ignorant when it comes to APN's...not messing with the nightlies for just that reason!
I am looking for a simple widget or way to turn mobile data on/off like the one I used in Cyanogen Mod 7 on my Inspire.

I don't think it actually turns it on and off like it does in CM ROMS. I believe it just takes you to the screen so you can turn off(uncheck) the data.
I believe only AOSP ROM have that options to actually turn it off directly

No luck with Widgetsoid2.x most of the widgets including the toggle of mobile data, the flashlight and more don't work on this phone. Thanks though.
I found a fairly easy solution to this. In the pull down menu there is both a WiFi toggle and an Airplane mode toggle. So, I just hit Airplane Mode then the WiFi toggle to turn my WiFi back on.
This is a HUGE battery saver, no real need for me to have LTE or any mobile data on most of the time because I am within range of WiFi. Seems that this has allowed me killer battery life.
Now I just need to hope for or figure out how to write an app myself which will detect a valid WiFi network, then automatically turn off mobile data. That would be nice! I think this was/is possible in CG7 but can't remember.
it works on the T989 version, so seems like the LTE is not compatible with the 4G switch in the widgets

Duh, just remembered that airplane mode also turns off the phone, voice, texting etc.. Ha ha.. Not what I was after. Oh well, back to needing a solution if anyone has one.

Do you mean the Mobile Data widget? If so, I did try that one but even when I turn it on, it doesn't work. Doesn't cut off mobile data at all or it brings me to the screen where I can turn it off myself. I can't remember which because I uninstalled it already.
this is partly why i switched to BeastMod since it's in the notification bar
Try 'Simple Mobile Data Link' by Marc Ole Bulling from Android Market. I installed it on my Skyrocket and it doesn't use AT&T data at all! So no more surprise data usage bills
won't have to worry myself once my original iPhone shops, unlimited data loophole
I will adding this to status bar hopefully before the weekend is over on my stock ROM posted in development section
