Android problem.. need expertize - Android Software/Hacking General [Developers Only]

I have a samsung gt i7500 but I'm sure the problem is android related.
After playing around with some roms and one time when I called someone he did not hear me and I didn't hear him, it worked only with the microphone and the headphones it came with. From there on reinstalled all possible roms versions and default versions and I always have the same problem.
Also I noticed that if I try to play music on the speakers I can't hear it.
Today I installed a new rom and saw the music DID work before making a call. But after the call with no voice/sound the speakers music didnt work any more either.
At one samsung shop a guy told me that he can't fix it but the internal drivers/software components are of different versions.
I think it might be the phone.tar file with an amss file inside that is ****ed up.
Any ideas? hoping someone can help

Handsfree not working

Hi all,
Might be a stupid question, but I thought I'll just throw it out there.
I recently realised my handsfree's microphone stopped working. I can hear things fine but people at the other side can't hear me. I tried voice recording software and it's not picking up any noise either.
I've tried reflashing to another rom, so I don't think it's a software problem? Or are there any drivers that I can try installing?
I've tried mic from 2 different handsfree and having same problem.
Thanks for any suggestions!
Cheers

Telstra HOXL only works on speakerphone

Hi all,
Apologies if this has been posted but I could not find any using the search although I came close.
I bought a 2nd hand Telstra HOXL using an Optus sim on fleabay and it is basically brand new. I've had it for almost a week and everything has been working fine except that I dont actually use it for calls that often. So last night I get a call and the person on the other end couldn't hear me so I figured they were in a bad reception area. Similar thing happened today and it felt strange so I called myself and all i could hear was a loud buzzing sound every time I spoke into the mic. When i turn on speaker phone, it actually works properly. Obviously it's a bit pointless if I can make a call without being on speakerphone. The strange thing is, I definitely had a successful call when i first got the phone but it required a few attempts before we could hear each other and I was told by the caller that all they could hear was the buzzing noise. Why it would suddenly work after a few attempts and then never again is beyond me.
Things I've tried:
- Performing the Audio Test. It failed because I could not record anything. I confirmed this by trying the voice recorder and it didn't work - just buzzing.
- I tried factory reset without success
- Finally I jumped onto the online support and they told me there is only 1 mic so it sounds like a software problem.
Has anyone experienced the same thing? I can't exactly take it for repairs cos the Ebayer has gone MIA even though they promised to provide proof of purchase. Hopefully they aren't dodgy cos they even refunded the postage difference. So now i'm stuck with a potential lemon and a few hundred bucks poorer.
Thanks.
I probably can't help you, but I suggest making more tests and post here, hopefully somebody had a similar problem and can help:
- try over headphones
- try over Bluetooth headsetor in car handsfree
- try a call over Skype or yahoo messenger (on wifi) to make sure isn't the network
Post results here. You'll probably end up with a custom rom, but not sure.

Thanks. It's definitely not the network because I put my sim back into my old trusty Desire and it works fine. I'll give the headphones / bluetooth a crack later and I have a feeling they will work.
UPDATE - Tried it with headphones on and it works. I read on another forum that some people believed it had something to do with removing the headphones from the jack which caused the propblem. I happen to use my headphones a fair bit and I'm thinking maybe it's "confused" itself somehow. Some people have tried clearing the cache but I'm not sure how to do that on the XL.

[PROBLEM] Headphone jack and speaker problem

So i have been using my htc One S since around christmas. In the beginning i noticed twice that the music didnt play through the headphones. I restarted the phone and everything was working fine. Now i have this problem that if I put in my speakers the music still keeps playing through the speakers. I tried the app SoundAbout by David Woods and set media output to headphones. When I play my music now it works through my headphones, but if i pull them out the music keeps playing through the headphone jack. Basically you dont hear anything, but the music doesnt pause. This app at least confirmed me that the headphone jack itself is still working, but I am wondering if there is something like a plug in/out detection that might be broken...
It was working fine till today afternoon. then I used Pimp My Rom to install some stuff.. including the Beats audio thing they have. After that my sound didnt work at all. so i restored from a nandroid and the speakers were functioning again. Then i freshly installed DeviantXone again... and thats where I am now... Please help me...

You should really have posted this in Q&A, Help and Troubleshooting. More experts who would be willing to help you would be there.
That is a peculiar problem. If you're using CyanogenMod 10, then that is normal. If you're on anything else, then I think your phone might have some software issues. Try an RUU. If that doesn't fix it, then it's hardware.

Playing flash-a-lot also broke my headphone/speaker detection. Even flashing new roms didn't help. Download an RUU and start again. It hasn't broken since.
Ok I figured I just restored fruition a viper nandroid..every thing works Joe.thanks anyways...

Low microphone performance

Hi,
I've already asked this question on Cyanogenmod forum but it was never answered. Here, on xda-developers I see that people encountered the same problem on HTC One Mini - low microphone performance while using Cyanogenmod (see this post for example: http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc...m-cyanogenmod-12-unofficial-build-m4-t2985009 - I would like to take part in discussion but as my account has been created a minute ago I can't respond to a post in 'development' section).
Someone stated, that this is common issue of Lollipop - I'm not an expert but I wound't say so. My HTC One Mini performs really well in terms of call quality and reception. The only issue I have with it using Cyanogenmod is the microphone performance. Just after installing CM people I called complained that they don't hear me well (it didn't happen while using stock Android).
I would really like to try some of the unofficial CM12 for my One mini, but call quality (both way) is a critical thing for me. Is it possible to help fixing this issue? I would like to help. If providing any logs/statistics/other* makes sense then let me know.
Cheers,
Jakub
potential fix
http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/development/mod-camcorder-audio-quality-fix-t2837930 this may be a possible fix if it's the same problem as for the nexus 5. Somebody with android developing/porting knowledge should find if it is the problem occurring our One Mini and try to port if. And yes, I've tried to flash the zips from link with no luck
But there is no noise suppression option in HTC One Mini (both in stock ROM and CM).
Hey Jakub!
I am facing the same or a similar issue.
Microphone level seems to be quite low such that sometimes I have to speak quite loudly to be understood on the other side.
With my old SGS2 I also had audio issues but using a (wired) headset I had no problems. Unfortunately with One Mini, the headset's microphone does not seem to work
Did you try using a headset?

I remember that I've used headset with my One mini, but I don't remember if I was using CM back then. For sure I got complains only while not using headset. So probably problem is only with internal microphone. Anyway - such issues makes the Cyanogenmod not usable for me because I know how annoying it is when you don't hear the other end well.
And to make it clear once again - I've never got complains while using stock ROM and I find call quality & reception really good on HTC One mini when using stock. With CM only microphone performance seems to be worse.
I was using stock-based InsertCoin rom until I flashed CM12.1 and at least in terms of in-call audio, I also never had a problem either with the internal or headset microphone.
My guess is that the microphone sensivity simply is too low, which can also be observed in the voice recorder. When loudly talking into the microphone, either internal or headset, quality is fine.
Unfortunately, I also cannot make any comments in the main thread yet :silly:
Downgrading HTC firmware seems to work for me. I extracted the firmware.zip from the first OTA update available for the One Mini (OTA_M4_UL_JB_50_HTC_Europe_1.31.401.1 in my case in France) and flashed my device with it. I haven't tested other firmwares yet but here is a big resource available on the net with all you need for testing (firmwares, OTAs, RUUs, etc...). As I can't post URLs with my newbie status you can find it by typing "downloads for HTC One Mini by Krocko - Android File Host" in Google.

Nexus 4, Mic not working in Speaker mode. but works in voice record, and regular call

Hi there everyone. i need some help with a used nexus 4 that i recently purchased.
The mic does not work when i use the speaker phone in phone calls only.
i can make voice recordings in whatsaap, and other functions using the speaker mic works.
But when i try to use the speaker phone in a phone call, the other person cannot hear me at all, its as if i pressed 'mute' on the mic.
i searched the net everywhere i could think of, but only found people with the opposite problem, where the mic only worksin speaker mode for them, but not for regular calls, which is the opposite of my issue..
also another strange thing, when i plug in an external headset/mic, the whole phone becomes like one big mic, and any way i touch the phone, sounds like crumpling paper extremely loudly.....
does anyone know of a solid fix for this issue?
thnks!!!!

currently, its on ANDROID 5.1.1
baseband version: M9615A-CEFWMAZM
Kernel Version 3.4.0
BUILD LMY48T
could you please include a link, as a good trustworthy source for me to read as to how to do that on this phone? Im new to this... good wtih computers, but just new to flashing phones. last one i tried was on my doogee titans, and it completely bricked, it wouldnt even recognize being plugged into the charger. i wasnt succesfull in bringing it back to life. i want to be careful with this one.

well i never own nexus... what i can suggest just install minimal adb from xda... And then download last known official factory images from google or http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-4 here... You can ask anybod here in general section.... People are willing to help just try to talk...
i was more like looking and hoping for someone who actually owned a nexus 4 and know about this specific issue and how to solve it......
it might save me hours of trying different things that may or may not work.
thnks though if i dont get any other replies ill just start by trying your advice.
