Does your phone have to be rooted for this?
I get error getting device list. Do you have to install something on the phone for this app to connect to?

that was a nice little app that i miss now that you mentioned it

webkey (root required) for control over phone
lazydroid & remote web desktop for sending SMS from computer and a few other features
they can be found in the market

I use Remote Web Desktop for SMS, which is the main reason I used MyMobiler to control my WinMo phone, but I still have to go on my phone to mark the messages read and to read them because there is a delay from when I get the message on my phone and when it shows up in Remote Desktop.
It would be really nice is there was a way to operate unrooted phones...

"my phone explorer" is pretty good and supports android,

How to use the computer keyboard on the HD2?

Is there anyway to redirect computer keyboard input from the computer to the HD2? This would be useful to type texts in the device using my computer keyboard.
I don't want something like My Mobiler since I don't want to see the whole screen but only to redirect input.
After all, I just want to use my keyboard like a bluetooth keyboard, but using and activesync usb connection...

Thanks, but that applications does not seem to let me type an SMS using my computer keyboard (at least from the description)...
It does.
Try it, and uninstall it if I am lying. I've updated the link to the developer's website.

Mymobiler is a great app to access windows phone with computer, you can do all kinds of stuff there including download weather info by wifi from computer instead of GPRS.

I know that, but I don't want full control over the device, just being able to text...
If you're already connected to wifi, why would you need your computer to update weather info?
I have WiFi Remote Access installed on my HTC HD2. How exactly does it allow the use of a PC keyboard to be used through it on my HD2? I've looked and looked and see no setting for using a PC keyboard.
Bump......
Try some remote contrl app so you can use any function of your phone on your computer...
But I'm not sure whether there is any working with wireless connection.

Too bad I cannot make this work because of my wireless network settings. I have a very secured access using MAC filters so that is probably why. The 1.7 is only a trial version right? It says on the website it has a timebombthat will go off sometime in June. Besides this app, any other app that can do the same thing? Thanks.

No, 1.7 Beta 2 is timebombed (it has more features). R1 is stable and works like a charm.
Visit here for the detail.
Why the need for such secure MAC filters? Do you work for the NSC or something? Why not relax your settings, give it a try... if you don't like Wifi Remote Access' features, then ditch it and secure your router like Fort Knox again.
dude just try pocket controller, its great i use it to see my device on my screen and controll it fully, it even lets me skin the session with the right device skin..

How did you know who I worked for??? Lol. My router is weird, I cannot connect to my network if I disable MAC filtering, which is really annoying since I have to add every single device that I want to connect. It took me a while to get that router figured out and I don't want to lose my connection so maybe I will try this app at work.
Okay, have 1.7 installed and still don't see the keyboard options.
Eh...it's on the desktop application under Remote Controls. It requires an access code, which would cause the program to likely be disabled after a period of time. I'll stick with the basic app.

Remote Control Your Phone from Your PC

Does anyone know if there is any software out there
that would allow me to remote into my android phone via my pc? All I'm really looking for is to be able to remotely view the screen of my phone remotely.
There is a great software package out there made by
http://www.soti.net/
but they do not have software available for Android.
This would be for use with the new evo
Any ideas?
Thansk
Picme in market.
You can also setup dyndns if you know how and what it can do. They also have an app
I'm currently working on data access and full phone control. It's kinda hard to get everything working together.

Have you heard of this product?

I wonder if it really works with android. I don't have an Android yet, as I'm looking at getting the Evo later this week.
Will someone try the demo, and let me know what they think?
Thanks
*RoidRage I'm excited to see your product developed. I think your developing in a good niche as there doesn't seem to be very much software out there for this application of remoting into your phone. I'll definitiley have to give it a try.
I briefly looked at it. Appears to only be for Windows mobile and iPhone.

that's what I noticed too, however when you go to purchase it asks you what OS you have, and there is an Android option, but perhaps they are just collecting date, although in their wiki file it also mentions they support android.

Hi mcnally,
I have successfully used 'droid VNC server' in the past.
What VNC client are you using on your desktop? I have used tightvnc, realvnc and ultravnc (they all do the same thing, just differently)
I had assumed that keyboards & mice were configured automatically, but there can be a "view only" option that may have stopped your keyboard & mouse from interacting.
Also - sometimes VNC is quite laggy, so laggy it looks like its not responding! your client should have a setting to reduce the color depth, this transmits less data & can help the lag but you loose colours. There may also be settings to reduce data transfer further, like handling the mouse on the client side etc...

VNC can be a bit laggy at times, but its still good!

I use webkey, very easy to setup and can be used over 3G. You can even track where your phone is at the moment, or let it ring (like HTC's Sense )

How do I remote into my android phone on my windows desktop?

Hi,
I am looking to remote into my phone to do some typing. I have a camera program & I need to enter all the info on the phone.
I tried airdroid but it wont let me actually see the screen. Is there any way to enter data using a windows PC into the GSiII?
Thanks,
Rich

Try hooking a keyboard right to your phone. I saw it was a feature you can hook up a mouse as well. Not at the same time though
I personally like airdroid.
I have airdroid but I dont see how I can use my PC to control my android phone. Teamviewer looks like it only has an android controling a pc.

I've never even heard of this being done. You can control your PC with your phone via TeamViewer or Splashtop but not the other way around as far as I know.
I would just plug a USB keyboard to your phone if you really needed to type stuff out.

Backup & Hard Reset without a screen?

So I killed my XT897. I dropped it on cement and cracked the screen so badly that I can't read it at all. Luckily I had the insurance and most of my data backed up to the cloud. However, it would be great if I could somehow back up the other stuff (apps, sms, call log, etc...) and then would like to wipe the old phone before returning it. Any suggestions on how to do this?
I guess you could adb pull stuff, but no clue how to adb pull sms messages and call log....
You usually need an app to back that stuff up. Maybe someone has another idea...

Yeah, I have those apps installed, just haven't ran them in a while...figures
What I was hoping for was a way to take remote control using a service like webkey (I use that to remote control my tablet). Problem is, I can't see the screen to configure the app so it's a catch 22!

Damn, I didn't think of that. In theory that should still work if the touch screen is still functional. I even have one of those micro HDMI dongle things here somewhere. I will report back.

I've never used it so i don't know if it mirrors the display, like on a pc, or if it just gives you a way to watch videos and view pictures. If it's like a pc it could possibly help you!

Would it be possible to install a remote viewing program such as TeamViewer using ADB on your Android device and and corresponding software on PC side???
Then you could in theory utilize the PC Application to at least search through all the Android system files and have access to everything you need to back up...
(Yes, HDMI probably works better for this because of the fact there is a GUI, but I was considering all options)

Last I remember you gotta be rooted with a VNC server app running though. :/
You might be better off just pulling all your data with ADB, flashing with RSD and sending it in.
If you pull with ADB though some things like call/text history might not be easily loaded into another phone but you will at least have all the database files and any media.

You could install a custom recovery like clock work mod then back up your phone from there. Then do a factory reset. Then uninstall your recovery. then lock your boot-loader again.
PM me 4 help
In response, with TeamViewer one is not able to "control" an Android device, as there is no Graphical User Interface (GUI), but I am able to access all files and such with my PC. And I will check to see if indeed being rooted is required to install this on the Android side.
