I need a media player to play FLV files (And preferably other formats while I am at it).
I also need a program that can pull the audio out of an FLV and save it as an MP3...
Rockplayer can play FLV (as well as Divx/Xvid, and more).
It resently went public beta, get it from here:

Does Rock Player work on HTC Magic? I get "Rockplayer cannot be installed on this phone"
There is that Chinese app wuzeh that plays flv
I tried DemoPlayer (RockPlayer) but it really sucks, it couldnt play anything. By the way, WuzhenhuaPlayer could play everything.
Where can I get WuzhenhuaPlayer player? How come Rock Player doens't install for me?
What means, in a beat around the bush way, is search for it ya damn self lol.

That's a valid argument. It would be nice if it was posted here for anyone who had the same problem, I guess I could just post it myself...
Because someone doesn't search doesn't give them an excuse to be a troll...
Btw rockplayer didnt play flv for me, wuhzenhua does but a lil laggy.

100th post second time around (Not technically 100th post if you count the posts deleted between me and the troll that got deleted...)
Idk all i can say is try n iff not update your magic lol.

You can go to 4shared.com and search for "Wuzhenhua", then download the 4.1 EN version.

From what I have gathered the SGS supports a lot more video/audio formats than Nexus S out of the box (correct me if I am wrong). Will it be possible to port these codecs from the SGS over to the NS?
Video Player Nexus S
Helps. Need a video player for Nexus S. I switched from my G2 to this. With the G2, i used ArcMedia and it played pretty much anything without any conversion. Now all i get is FCs on the Nexus S. Sad panda i am right now.

[Q] How to play vidoes/movies on Nexus S?
So i was thinking about watching a movie this afternoon on my brand new Nexus S and started looking for some sort of video player under the appications. Is it true that the phone doesnt come with any kind of Video Player? How do i watch movies? What format to use for the movies? I download all my movies and they're all .avi. All the help, comments and suggestions are highly appreciated.
AVI is just a container. It can hold any kind of codec inside. I heard people reccomend rockplayer is good though. Try that and report back on how it works.
Rockplayer doesn't work. Lots of players crashes on the Nexus S right now. They all need to be updated.

You're right. Nothing works at the moment. Is it true our nexus came with absolutely no video player?

When I try to open a video file from astro, among the choices of program given to me is one called "movies"; this uses the same icon as the "gallery" proram, comes preloaded on the phone, and also fails to open most video formats.
Playing M4P via Meridian and it works great.

Let me look up meridian. I guess I am gonna have to convert from avi to the extension you mentioned.

Gallery is the video player.

So is the issue that the nexus s doesn't come with an xvid codec or that apps with software decoding of the codecs like rockplayer just need to be updated ? Sorry if I'm a little dense about this.
I guess the 3rd party apps need to be updated.

So is there a specific file type that the galley plays? I just created a movie folder with 2 avi files but gallery isn't showing anything other than pictures on the same storage.

M4P is a .h264 container. Most videos on the internet or torrents for phones come in M4P format. Best quality for the size.
Most phones can play M4P right out of the box. YouTube is a big supporter of the container.

quick question regarding the camera, how do you upload videos to picasa.
I went to the gallery and hit menu to get the option to share, but I only see the option there when its photos. I thought you can upload videos also.
I could not find a way to upload on mine. I have just used "Picasa Uploader" from the market. It's free and uploads video and pictures.

BTW did you check the videos you uploaded on picasa from your nexus?
I just uploaded one using the same app you said, and it seems that the quality is not the same than that which was taken on the phone. Its a much lesser one.
The official vevo app is now in the market. I just downloaded it and its amazing!!!

Who knows? But it's amazing!!
The wait is over!!! The #1 online destination for music videos is now on your Android phone VEVO lol
Is vevo is **** that is all over youtube music videos
4gCM7
I can't find it in the european market (spanish at least). Can you share the .apk?
Thanks!
Thanks! Too bad there's now video commercials between videos though
For those who don't know what this is:
http://www.vevo.com/
It's like youtube for artists' videos.
Its only for USA i think
Very nice app so far.
Minor annoyance is that there doesn't appear to be a way to default it to HQ. The video has to buffer, then start, then you click HQ, then buffer a little more, then plays.
Maybe they do that so that people who don't know any better just play the video without HQ and they save on the bandwidth?
Can someone post the .apk? I am in the US, but since I am using a Brasil Milestone2 I do not see this application in the market. If this is a paid app then nevermind. I am not trying to pirate anything, just would like to try this out.
it seems it was removed from market as fast as it was posted
You sure? Still listed on appbrain

This app didn't work well for me at all. It likes to force close, alot. Like someone already said if you wunna watch in hd you hafta wait for it to buffer and then hit the "hd" button and then wait for it to restart buffering and then you can watch. But even once the hd video was loaded I wasint impressed, it still didn't look very good on my phone. I'm using a droid X 2.2.1

im going to upgrade to a nexus s 4g this month, and i have 2 questions about playing videos on the phone:
from what i understand, the nexus cant shoot HD, but can it play HD videos that i load onto the phone?
is there an app that can play .avi cuz id really hate to convert my videos.
No I dont think HD video work, I forget the app but there is one to play .Avi it wasnt flawless tho
RockPlayer. AVIs are flawless, MKVs are flawless as well but there is a bug with no audio being outputted when hardware decoding MKVs. .AVIs have absolutely no problem
MoboPlayer is pretty good too
Ill havd to try rockplayer is it free? I tried a app that needed unlocking after 15 days
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
Yes theres a free version available on the market. Moboplayer is reallh good too.

i meant really. rockplayer is still my recommendation of choice, paid app of course (you have to get it through his website)
I Dont know it man, trying the free version on the market and it keeps freezing every time I open a 720p AVI file
my nexus s love mobo player.
720p working great with it. (subtitle support also)

actually can you tell me what OC actually does ?
sorry noob here
I've searched around, tried QQPlayer, Kascend, Rock Player and Mobo and none of them can play the files properly. Either there is no sound or way too much lag.
Dice Player seems to be the only option out there, so since I'm a cheap bastard I want to see if there is a free alternative out there before I shell out the five bucks.
Have you tried mplayer? It's the only way to go on a linux desktop. I'd venture to say it would do well on our phones.

Have you converted the files down to the res of the screen? Also for rockplayer you should try both the software and hardware decoding options before giving up

Yup, the only that works for me. I'm just going to stop being cheap and shell out the $5.
I can't believe it's this difficult to get .mkv support. It's 2011, who uses .avi or .mpg anymore? EVERYTHING you download in high def is an .mkv Playing these files should be like being able to play an .mp3
Have you tried MX Video Player, there is a trial version available
that has ads, but I liked it so much I paid for it. I have managed
to get it to play 1080 mkv, it supports dual core decoding...

Wow, hadn't heard of .mkv. It looks good though, I need to investigate further. I guess there are many conflicting commercial aspects to it. A bit like FreeBSD/Linux in their early days vs AIX/SunOS/HPUX.....

.mkv seems to be the standard with HD videos. I don't download anything unless it's 720p+ and every uploader chooses .mkv
