Guide to help install froyo on your hero :) - Hero CDMA Android Development

Removed at the request of the dev, official release will be available soon !

Ok the second link isn't working, so my best solution is to use the original recovery image, that you used to have, to do this i simple rerooted my phone, and pushed the flash file and it worked perfect, no errors or fc's so far!

The ROM link has been killed by MediaFire.... reup?

No, that's it. The FroYo ROMs are tiny.

Holy crap, i thought because it simply said recovery it was the recovery image, not the entire rom. well my sd card will thank me!!!!!

yea it works, the froyo rom is small, thats why it runs so smoothly on your device

Not bad, although I'll personally be waiting for some of the bugs to be fixed before I head on up to Froyo.
Looking forward to it

EDIT: Dongs.

IF ANYONE runs into a "sd card no mounted" " no sdcard" problem you need to wipe the ext. part of your sd card if you have one, also remember to wipe before beginning a new rom flash, do the nanadroid backup and wipe dalvik cache for saftey just in case

does this change your hboot and make it impossible to go back to 2.1?

Not necessarily, this removes the RA you have currently, and it will act as if you are "unrooted"

You might read a little about this ROM before flashing, some People Are Experiencing issues, but not all, i happen to be one of them with the Dalvik Cache Clearing problem.
Agimax thanks alot, I'm reading it right now. I Think I'm going to stick with 1.2.3 for now until the prob gets fixed.
It's pretty much OK to go ahead and just upgrade to the newest recovery. I just did using Flipz's auto-rooter, and it works 100% for me.
I flashed the new v1.5.2 recovery image directly over v1.2.3 and didn't have any problems at all.

Yes, after all, it's so hard to just plug in a cable and clear the cache via adb if the recovery won't do it for some reason.
I think I'd take the potential weirdism with something you (a) seldom do, and (b) has a more than acceptable workaround, vs (c) the known nandroid breakage in 1.5.1.

No, actually following the directions written by Amon_RA in the thread announcing the recovery image is probably the way to go.

This is the OTA update that was released by Sprint. With this we can extract the changes and put it into our existing rom or make a rooted rom from this.

Yes, don't run this if you don't want to lose everything. Wait for a zip recovery flash that doesn't wipe DATA. Some might... so you want to be be sure you nandroid first in case the dev doesn't mention wiping occurs.
Basically just wait till somebody makes all the necessary changes to keep root and releases it as a signed zip even with unrevoked for some reason I feel unrevoked won't work with a custom recovery once the nand gets unlocked because it reroots it everytime you reboot your phone instead of truly being sticky
alright thanks

psfMod - project abondoned

After waking this morning and seeing the length's SCEA are going to to halt the PS3's jailbreak I am reluctantly withdrawing from the distribution of PSFreedom in any form.
You can see more of what SCEA are doing here: http://psx-scene.com/forums/showpost.php?p=535680&postcount=1
Keeping my Family intact is more important to be than hacking a games console.

Thanks for all your hard work, guys! Fantastic stuff!

Great work!! Let's try!

Excuse my lack of knowledge, but what exactly is the difference or advantage to the PSFreedom App you created?

Typical recovery log shows that everything worked, although it still flagged an error.
The log is the ONLY file that my code additions write anywhere on the device other then the recovery img flashing.
I am honestly at a loss to what can cause your main rom to fail booting.
What rom do you normally run?

[how to] simply ext4 gb

When it comes down to it here's the order to get ext4 and nameless kernel on your GB rom only.
MUST HAVE THE FOLLOWING FILES.
EP1H ON PC http://www.multiupload.com/MU_PRZ9RUD9ZZ
NEW CWM ON PC http://www.multiupload.com/31963EOUA0 *MUST DELETE MD5 EXTENSION
EXT4 FORMAT ALL ON SD http://www.mediafire.com/?6hx7f8g7c8vv6xz
KERNEL CLEANUP SCRIPT ON SD http://www.mediafire.com/?302ofs64v4ibp9l
NAMELESS KERNEL ON PC. http://www.multiupload.com/M7UYRWDE4R *MUST DELETE MD5 EXTENSION
Wipe all
Odin EP1F/H Leak
Odin new CWM (orange) *MUST REINSERT BATTERY BEFORE YOU ODIN THIS
Wipe all again
In CWM Flash ext4 format all
In CWM Mount system, data, etc. NOTE* MUST MOUNT EXTSTORAGE
In CWM Flash your rom one that supports this... (preferably Eclipse touchwiz)
In CWM Flash kernel cleanup script
Odin Nameless Kernel *MUST REINSERT BATTERY BEFORE YOU ODIN THIS
reboot...samsung will flash about 6 to 8 times before it boots
P.S. Forget the quadrant score once you get this you can feel the power your device was meant to have. However I score in the 1500s.
And here I thought I tried every combination of things lol. I will give this a try once my childrens go to bed. How is that eclipse rom btw? Everything stable and working? If you have time will you provide links to all the necessary files. If not I can rewrite the OP for you with all of them in there.
I would greatly appreciate if the OP had links to all the necessary files. I'm dying to get the most out of this amazing device but this site is somewhat difficult to navigate even with the attempts to establish a template for naming threads.

And this thread is going to be sooooo useful to EVERYONE once them links are up.
I already had most of the files sitting on my drive where I have been trying every combination to get it working, but you sir have figured it out and I am infinitely thankful.
I'm on the galaxy S screen now, so it looks like everything is going to go well.
EDIT:::
And everything booted fine and the mount command displays my partitions as EXT4! Great job OP.

eclipse is awesome and stable. The only reason it has a bug or 2 (nothing major) is because the gb leak came like that. I am very picky and extremely happy with this setup. Now that im on this i will never return to ee4.:d

Ok another question:
Why would you want the new recovery (minus the md5 extension) on the SD card when you are using ODIN to push it to the phone? Wouldn't you want it on the phone? In the steps it says on SD.
Sorry I've never flashed kernels only roms so this is new for me.

The new CWM stays on your PC and you Odin it. You have to erase the MD5 extension for it to work. Just follow those steps exactly and you will be fine. The dev that created the CWM created it to be flashed thru Odin.

I understand that. I erased the md5 extension and it turned into a zip file. The instructions say on SD in the OP. That's why I was confused. So I shouldn't put it on the SD card, correct
EDIT:
It turned into a tar file when I deleted the extension, not zip
