Will you root the Boost Mobile Motorola i1? - General Questions and Answers

Boost mobile decided to bring out a android phone with their $50 a month deal. This is very cheap and possible something I will be transferring to later this year or next year.
Official Phone:
http://www.motorola.com/Consumers/U...s/Mobile-Phones/MOTOROLA-i1-US-EN?localeId=33
Sprint Version:
http://now.sprint.com/motoi1/
Boost Mobile:
http://www.boostmobilestore.com/bpdirect/boost/PhoneList.do?action=view&id=i1
Now if I know XDA, not one android phone wont be rooted with new roms. Unless i am incorrect. But When I switch service in a few months from sprint, Can I look forward to seeing a rooted i1 on boost mobile?

yea i have the boost version and it needs cyanogenmod on it i really hope someone roots it

i am currently using the nextel/sprint i1 on boost mobile, no need to unlock, worked like a charm immediately, which is usually untrue for nextel to boost usually.

[Q]iPhone user asks: BEST Cricket Android to own/root? (zio, ascend or Optimus c?)

Hi Everyone
I am giving up my $190 iphone bill (2 lines of service) for a cricket android phone.
need an android phone.
My choices are of course:
Sanyo Zio
Hauwai Ascend
LG Optimus C
Can the optimus be rooted? I mean, its a new phone but take on OLD model...
I just want a nice screen and decent speed for the phone.
Rooting the phone is fine, I can do that.
The best screen appears to be the Zio, but the best HARDWARE is the LG.
Which one will be the best after the 2.2-1 android update? The zio and Optimus alreadyu have that update, and you can root the Ascend to get it if you want.
Can you root the optimus be rooted?
I am sure the zio can.
DOH!
I just saw that the zio has no multitouch interface.
i have a samsung fascinate on cricket. you can also get a droid x or any other verizon or sprint android to work on cricket. and they all are better than the cricket choices. look on craigslist, or get a bad ESN one from Ebay, then flash it to cricket, the process is not that hard. and its on this forum
i have an epic on cricket... in the past i heard thehy shut down data for a week for flashed phones.. and anyway now my epic won't get incoming calls (routed to voicemail) and it says restricted on other peoples incoming screens when i call... seems like a roaming issue.. i'm about to probably just go buy an optimus c
I love my Incredible on Cricket Everything works 2 including MMS. UR best bet is 2 get a phone that isn't Cricket & make it Cricket. Lets face it... Cricket's phones suck

Best Phone to use on Straight Talk

Hello everyone,
As you can see I am a newbie and this is my first post. Excuse me if a thread like this was made before, but after searching on the web I recently found out that I can use my E71 sim card on AT&T phones. I would like people's opinion on which phone I should buy? I also hear from fellow students that CES 2012 just happend. Should I wait for the new phones or just purchase a phone that is out now?
Thanks and much appreciated
Depends what you want, how much you can afford a month and how much your willing to spend on a phone. If your looking for prepaid virgin mobile is good, they have the motorola triumph, htc wildfire s, lg optimus v, lg optimus slider and samsung intercept (all are android) look up some planes on the internet, at&t prepaid is good but metro pcs has nice 4g phones and android phones, I see you want to no whats the best phone from straigt talk, i dont no much about the phones but check out metro, virgin, and at&t
HTC Wildfire S (VM) "s-off" "rooted" Stock Rom
Well I just read up on how ST has a loop hole and you can use mainly AT&T phone and some T-Mobile phones with the right 3G frequencies. I was willing to spend no more than $250 for a phone, but I don't know how long the loop hole is going to be open so I don't want to spend a lot on a phone and it not work. I was looking at the Atrix but various sites aren't every accurate when it came to comparing it to the Infuse or Inspire and other phones.
Do u want prepaid? For 250 you can by a nice prepaid phone
HTC Wildfire S (VM) "s-off" "rooted" Stock Rom
Straight Talk offers 2 android phones. The LG Optimus Q and the Samsung Galaxy Precedent.
If u want more android for prepaid id say metro pcs or virgin mobile

From what I read can't I just use any phone from AT&T and use my sim card on it? The phones from ST are entry level android and I want a full fledge android phone if there is such a thing.
Yes, you can use any AT&T smartphone on Straight Talk, I did it for about a year. For under $250, I'd try and get an AT&T band Nexus S, an Infuse, or maybe a Galaxy S2 if you can go an extra $100 higher. It's definitely worth the extra cash.
My local Walmart thinks there will be a new Android phone available in February 2012 for Straight Talk, any idea on make/model? or if worth the wait?
Look at virgin mobile, 4g is coming this year but all there other Android is 3g

I have been doing some reading and is it worth buying a 4G phone, since ST doesn't use 4G yet. Until they upgrade their bands?

I think you're missing the point of the OP. He's not asking for recommendations for carriers, or phones on other carriers. He's only interested in StraightTalk, and since ST's GSM phones (at least, the E71) runs on AT&T, you can just stick the E71's SIM card in an AT&T phone and use it. He's asking for good/cheap AT&T phones to run on StraightTalk.
So, to answer the OP's question, I would probably try to go with a Nexus S (look for the AT&T band one, like entropism said), or maybe a used iPhone 4.

[Q]can Moderators, anyone help me here...

So i know the sprint and virgin mobile versions are identical models, but why cant i find any forums for the virgin mobile galaxy s5?, i know from my last phone experience that the raidios (aka modems) and bootloaders are different, assumingly, so why isnt there a virgin mobile thread? Im just asking becuase aparently android lolipop is available for the sprint version, but not on vm yet, but like with the vm gs3 will the updates be the same, that ill have to wait about a a week or few to get the update?

The 5.0 for Sprint is a leak, and not the "official" build released. I have Boost, and got the NK4 about a week or so after Sprint. Sammy is getting really good at getting them out to Boost/VM much faster than before. And yes, the updates for The S5 are the same, just like the GS3, just the boot animation and "tagging" are different.

Total Wireless Galaxy S6: Need Help Installing TWRP

Hello All,
I just purchased a Galaxy S6 today. Previously I have used (and loved!) the OnePlus One. I was actually hoping to upgrade to the OP3 here soon. However, a new job, a new town, and apparently a new phone. The only service that works where I live is Verizon. OP phones are not compatible with Verizon. :crying::crying::crying: So I must retire my poor baby and move onto a inferior product (based on how 'easy' it has been to install a custom ROM).
When I was doing the OP1, it was easy. I could do it in my sleep. The GS6 on the other hand, I can't even find a method of installing TWRP which actually works. I know that Total Wireless uses Verizon towers so I imagine that I basically have a Verizon phone. Is this possible with this phone?
I really can't stand the version of Android that is installed on this thing. Plus the bloat ware is making me sick already. HELP!!!!

Sorry, no way to root a Verizon S6.

Can you recommend a good phone like the OP phones that are Verizon compatible?
Nexus 6p will work.

All Android OS is rootable, The part on the locked bootloaders is completely up to the OEM's on whether or not they lock them or allow for an unlock method or even better, Dont ship with a lock at all. All in all, Its all up to the OEM.
OEM's have various reasons for doing this such as protecting their assets, Making it so that there's no replacement claims caused by users failing to root and bricking the device, The list goes on to be honest. Too many to list.
As for what phone should you get, I'd suggest finding the phones within your price range and then see if a forum/threads exist within XDA for it and decide which ones the one to get based on that.
