Strange error on Google Maps - Android Software/Hacking General [Developers Only]

This is the second time in the last 2 days that I've received this error message when using Maps. I'm running a MT3G with SuperD 1.11 ROM. I've never had this problem before until now so it's perplexing. Here's the scenario:
I open Maps and do a search for a business location. It finds it and then pops up an error that states:
"Google has disabled use of the maps API for this location. The client IO provided is not valid for this site."
You can close the message box to make it go away and things APPEAR to work fine. But, I'm not 100% sure.
Has anyone else come across this? Is it something to be concerned about (functionality-wise)? Any fixes?
Thanks!

Nobody else have this problem, I suppose?

Google Maps Constantly Running

Hello, I'm new here. I have tried to search for this and nothing recent came up but apologises if I missed something.
Google Maps never seems to close (restarts after killing). I don't know if this happened before the Maps update (couple of days ago). I have turned off buzz and latitude yet its used 11% of my battery (and I've not used it once). Is there anyway to stop this happening as my current battery life is awful?
I'm using a HTC Desire on Orange UK if anybody needs to know.
Thanks, Rowan.
Do you have Google Latitude enabled ? If so it's constantly reporting your location ...
Sent from my HTC Legend using Tapatalk
Ah turns out I did, I thought i'd disabled but I must not have.
It's now disabled but still alyways runs but no longer is in the battery usage page, is this a problem or should I jsut ignore it?
Thanks, Rowan.

Hi. This drove me crazy too. Try this.
1. Open browser normally
2. Visit any site other than your home page
3. Set this site as your Home Page
4. Revisit old Home Page
5. Reset this to Home Page
Voila!! Google Maps stops. I assume it will work for any app that keeps running.

Bruts Map

Is there anyone that got bruts map working?
The latest version, won't work for me.
First it shows the "What's new" page, and after I press OK, the program hanged.
Then I force close it and restart it again, it shows that Current Location Unavailable, but the normal GMaps works.

I haven't tried Brut's map on the NS. The only reason I used it before was the offline cacheing of map data, which the new Maps from Google does, so didn't feel the need for it any more.
Have you checked with the author to see if he's updated for Gingerbread compatibility yet?
Yeah, I posted in the xda forum main thread for bruts, the author haven't replied yet, probably he is busy and he do not have a nexus s to try with.

PLEASE HELP-navigation TTS

My voice navigation does not work properly and cant figure it out.. it mirrors this problem exactly "I have a problem with my Google Maps. Each time I try to use Driving Navigation function, I receive the following error: "For voice-guided navigation, you need to install text-to-speech support from the Android Market." Then, when I click on "Install," I'm taken to the Market and I receive another message saying: "There are no matches in Android Market for the search: pname:com.svox.langpack.installer." Has anyone experienced similar issue? Any advice how to solve this?
However, if I skip the installation, it seems that there is already basic speech navigation installed because I hear "in half a mile, turn left"-- the GPS voice however is not saying the street name or highway name like my mytouch did. Is this normal?" i checked under voice setting and under pico it says the language pack isnt installed but i cant get it off market... whats the solution PLEASE

GPS dropping signal after OTA Lollipop update

Hello,
My nexus 5 GPS used to work GREAT under kitkat. However, after the Lollipop OTA update the gps signal keeps dropping and I am not able to use any navigation system.
I did try the factory reset but it didnt help.
A friend of mine is also facing the exact same problem, we both have the 32GB model.
My girlfriend, however, has not faced any issue after the ota update (she has the 16GB model). Her GPS works great!
Our basebands versions are exactly the same.
Can u guys please help? I really need the gps. I use it almost daily!
Thank you.
No idea on a solution, but experiencing the same thing here. GPS drops out way way more frequently than it ever did under KK. Hoping someone else has more ideas.
Hi,
My friend and I have made some tests today and found a temporary (?) solution:
I uninstall "Gps Status & Toolbox":
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.eclipsim.gpsstatus2
and I installed "GPS Status Test & Fix - No Ads":
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cochibo.gpsstatus
I did a "Reset GPS" and then "Get Xtra data". This seems to have solved my issue!
My friend, instead, just uninstalled "Gps Status & Toolbox" and tried to use the gps in "Device only" mode (instead of High Accuracy). This made te tick! If he tries to use "High Accuracy" his signal starts dropping again.
In my case, however, just uninstalling "Gps Status & Toolbox" an then installing "GPS Status Test & Fix - No Ads" solved the issue (I guess). I am have been able to use "high Accuracy" since then!
Just give it a try and please report back.
Thank you.
Have exactly the same issue. Also have 32GB N5. Never had any GPS disconnects back on KK. I have tried the "GPS Status & Fix" as mentioned above, didn't work for me. I will try the "Device only" option today, will report back
Edit: It definitely looks like the "Device only" option worked for me.
Have you tried this one?
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cochibo.gpsstatus
It worked for both me and my friend. Now no problem at all in using "High Accuracy"
1. Before you wrote that it worked only for you and did not work for your friend, now you say it worked for both of you...
2. As I mentioned already above, in my previous post, the app did not help in my case.
I did not say my friend had installed "GPS Status Test & Fix - No Ads"! (at the time of the first post he did not have "GPS Status Test & Fix - No Ads" installed. He then installed it and that did the trick)
Well... I will give it another try tomorrow, but at least the "Device only" mode helped so far, which is already more then enough for temporary solution.
Great!
Changed back to "High accuracy" today, did the "Reset GPS" and "Get Xtra data" in "GPS Status Test & Fix - No Ads" app, which I certainly already did before, and no disconnects since then. Not sure what exactly did the trick, maybe its just turning of and on the "High accuracy", don't know...

Glad it helped!!
Unfortunately the GPS disconnects came back, both when using "Device only" and "High accuracy" modes. So I guess it is not related.
I have the same problem since the OTA Lollipop update. Back in 4.4.4 everything worked fine.
I tried all solutions presented above,, sadly none of them work. Resetting the GPS only makes the reconnexion faster after the GPS has crashed (or at least does what seems like a crash).
Same problem here
I have the exactly same problem, on a nexus 5 32 gb international version, gps simply stopped working properly after the OTA update for Android L.
I've tried the solutions proposed on the thread but got no luck on it, anyone has another idea?
i read that flashing the radio from 4.4.1 works for other people. Does anyone know where to download the 4.4.1 radio and how to flash it?
same issue here, 32GB intl version.
a list of flashable radios and the download link are here
4.4.1 should be KOT49E
however, the 4.4.1 radio didn't seem to solve the issue for me (although I don't have time to test it properly - from normal usage it looks like the drops are less frequent, but still there)
Android 5.0.1 Lollipop
Do not downgrade the radio version! Android 5.0.1 Lollipop being released within the next hours! Keep fingers crossed!

I really hope this will correct these GPS problems ! Let's keep our fingers crossed...
By the way, does everyone with this problem have a 32Gb version?

Hi all,
I'm having the same issue and I also own a N5 32 Gb.
At the beginning I thought I solved the issue just by switching "High Accuracy/Only Device" but a couple of days ago the signal loss came back, stronger than before.
For what I see the issue is mainly related with Waze app. With "Google Maps" or "Here Maps Beta" the signal loss is less likely.
One thing I noticed while using Waze/Google Maps with Lollipop is that the "GPS Status & Toolbox" app icon is intermittent on the status bar.
Before on Kit Kat that icon was persistent on the status bar, showing you all the GPS info and providing the A-GPS data (not sure of this tbh).
Anyway I'm waiting for the new Lollipop release to check if the issue will be fixed.
For what it worth... I am also having those issues with Waze app

Location history not available !

Hello!
Today I realised that Location History (and, hence, Location Sharing) is not available to me... Googling the issue I see that this issue has been bothering many users of Chinese phones, but with no clear solution.
Of course location history was working fine since the day I got the phone, and I didn't change anything like, say, flashing a new ROM. I'm on OB25, btw.
Anyone else facing the same issue?
Same for me. Was working fine for one years and a recent research showed that it stopped working...
Had to remove my Google account, now it's working again. However, judging from others posting in various sites, I don't know for how long...

I have the same issue on Vivo Iqoo Pro. the location history was working initially, and stopped working after the google play service automatically upgraded. What i am doing is uninstall the google play service and reinstall the original play service from the Vivo app market almost every the other day when google play service upgraded to the newest version.
I don't know how to stop the google play service automatic updating... maybe i have to root the cell phone and then there is a way to stop the play service updating...
That's a valid question...
As for me, in the end I had enough and just cleanly flashed my ROM. For some reason, the problem did not appear again!
