As the title says, my weather app is refusing to update my current location, and I am sixty miles away from the location it says I am at. What's the problem?
I have gps location on, cell tower location on, and it won't update.
Please help.

Software Availability:
The HTC Thunderbolt software can be pulled at any time after 8 p.m. ET on 07/08/11 by following these steps from the Home Screen: Menu > Settings > Software Update > Check New. If customers ask for instructions on how to setup the Data Usage widget after the update, follow these steps from the Home Screen: Long Press on an empty part of the Home Screen > Widget > Data Usage.

Says I have an update but keep getting "Server unavailable" when I try and install it.
READ THIS POST IF YOU HAVEN'T GOTTEN THIS OTA YET! Sense 2.1 I would think. Has anyone captured this OTA? Please run adb logcat before accepting an ota update if you haven't gotten it yet so the devs can capture it. PM me if you need more info on how to do this.
I give this till the morning before I do it, if I don't hear anything bad by then I may give it a go. Don't wanna risk anything like MR1.
Gotta be rooted to do this? I don't mind if someone tells me how.

Updated and added the 30/mo hotspot feature to my plan. No issues yet.

Rom is Hypersensation 1.8. When i open Google maps( Use GPS Satellites options is checked), it always shows i'm in another province of China, which is thousand miles away from my location. How to solve the problem? I tried another map app but still the same result. Does anyone have the same problem with me? Any advice is appreciated.
Try it with wifi turned off, does it still give the wrong location?

Hello everyone! I have a problem with weather widget since last night. I have tried normally to update weather and it just crashed. It couldn't show my current location properly, just gave me FC. Since then I couldn't recover the app on any way. I first deleted the data in the app and it started normally but after the weather update through WiFi it doesn't show my current location again. I have tried to enter the city list when it crashes for the second time.Widget is not working eather...Then I have tried to restore the app from my nandroid backup and it works fine until it refreshes through WiFi...
I'm using ThiaiZO3D v2.8 ROM. Does anyone have the same problem like me? Is there any solution?

I think that problem is not related with network. I have used my home WiFi to update weather. Maybe Accuweather's server is sending some bad info data so it crashes our widget...Or LG is just fooling with us somehow.Don't know...
Anyway Thiaiz your ROM is working perfectly!

ThiaizO3D 2.8 weather widget working fine! And I haven't updated my phone since v20f
There was once this issue in Rom Manager that deleted pics from gallery every time you reboot, in my opinion you people might be sharing such an app that has an issue, possibly. Or it might be from accuweather itself
Anyway there's fancy widgets which has so many weather widget styles. Wish you luck

Yes...It was solved somehow by itself i guess. Couple of minutes ago I wanted to check one more time does it work or not. And then i saw that finally it has accepted updating my current location and weather. It was little bit buggy and then I have just deleted data from the app and started it again.Everything is working now...I have no clue what was wrong in the first place.But I have never seen this kind of bug before...

Here it is...Weather widget from stock v21E GB ROM. Just put both files it in your root/system/app folder
and change their permissions to READ for User, Group and Others and WRITE just for User. Leave other
columns blank...
Please forgive me if this has been asked and solved before. I'm having a problem with GPS locking on this rom only. I tried updating the GPS config file but had no luck locking on. I'm in an area where with other roms I can typically lock onto about 7 or 8 satellites. Any help is greatly appreciated!

^this. It took me a few seconds but I was able to pick up around 10 or so satellites when I walked out just now without gps fix or any other app like that.

I did try using GPS Status to "reset" the GPS. It did VERY briefly find two satellites and then they disappeared. I've tried re-downloading the rom, wiping, etc. with no luck. I'm just bummed out cause I really like this rom but no GPS is a no-go for me.
Gps works. Try more apps. Get a fresh download. There are always more things to try.

You said it works..are you using an app from the app store, or is it working from the Rom itself? It's my favorite Rom but I rarely use GPS. I just wanna know in case I decide to use it.

I did download GPS Status from the Play Store and I use navigation daily so it's pretty important to me. I don't know why sometimes it seems to see less or more in the same location but I used the turn by turn directions last night just fine. I'll let everyone know if I see any changes but right now it seems good.

Every time i enable GPS i get the confirm box. Can i confirm that bleeping thing and have the phone remember so not to bother me again.
Normally i leave it off but a new ap i downloaded wont work without it enabled.
GPS On ... confirm, GPS On ... confirm, GPS On ... confirm... Use app. Turn off GPS.

You can use the Android Power widget to enable GPS without the confirmation.
Does that turn on all 3 GPSs or just one. Btw what's the difference in the 3.

Assuming this is just because you are on a ROM... just drop the widget where you want it and reboot and the buttons will appear
If you are using Tweakd then the stock widget wont display properly for some reason. On stock it just turns on the Standalone GPS services. You'll need to manually do the VZW and Google service.
then I guess I'm stuck with the phone the way it is. BTW, I thought Tweaked was the only ROM out there for those of us that have the latest OTA. If I am wrong, what are the alternatives?

Not the Verizon or Google GPSs.
Just FYI the verizon location service doesn't do anything unless you are using VZ navigator. The google location service is what estimates your location using cell towers and wifi. GPS is the precision location used for satellites.
If you have an app that needs location to work, then see if it needs a rough or exact location. You probably only need to turn one of those on.
I just leave VZW and Google location services on. Yeah maybe they can keep track of my location but their intentions are pretty benign.
