I can't seem to find an Android Mp3 Player that can play from a specific folder. For example, I had Nitrogen Player for WinMo (by microfi) that I was using on my X2. It was a terrific player that was skinnable and had some pretty slick options. Most of all the EQ was fully tweakable, I loved it!
Anyways, in my search for a player I see many people are looking for this kind of thing as well. The reason this is important to me is, I can separate the music or audio book in different folders and play whatever I am in the mood for knowing it wont pick stuff out of the other folders if I so choose.
Is there an app developer that can come up with one? I am sure I am not the only one who would appreciate it.
Maybe try mortplayer?
Hope it helps!!

Haven't tried that one, I will check it out
Thanks!
Try bTunes But it's not free
I tried mortplayer, it's not bad. You can even control it with the headset
But... it did play tracks randomly from different folders once and I wish it has an equalizer.

Is there any way to globally adjust the eq? I would like to tweak Pandora's output but can't. I saw a mod for the Droid, I think it was called milestone eq or something. If anyone has ideas or maybe something can be added to one of the upcoming rom's...
Thanks....

This shouldn't be in the development section, but I may include Voodoo sound in my next kernel. Then you'll be able to adjust a lot of settings.
Thx, I wasn't sure where to put it....

if it is a question put it in general untill we have a q&a section, it is safer there. maybe if the qiestions are development related (like you are in the middle of a project and need input and plan to post the project later in the same thread) you might get away with it.
to answer the question there is an eq widget in the market but i didnt care for the quality and there is an app called galaxy tuner (also in the market) for the i9000 and other phones with similar hardware that works on the infuse. dont use it on the external speaker(bug results in lost ringtones) but it works great for headphones. it also has a "3d sound" option that works pretty nice, better than any other audio enhancement i have seen on an andriod phone.
The problem with the marketplace apps is that they only work for music played in a music player, not streamed through services like Pandora. I'll check out the ones you mentioned though...

galaxy tuner claims to be a hardware eq, it is at minimum a global eg, it is not a music player but an app that sets many hardware and kernel setting that you otherwise dont have access to. it works! the eq widget (dont remember the name) also works but i never got a good balance out of it.
Friens finally TTpod has release its 2.5 version and its the best ever android music player out there. awsome skins. Now also has equalizer. Has 3 screens with visualizations.
Feature list will be nice..
Edit: Market says 2.3.4 so how you got 2.5?

Thanks for the share buddy.... I will try it for sure!!!
I tried the one the market (2.4.1), and it's really great!
The UI is really intuitive and pretty (3 skins), the integration of lyrics too. The widget has lot of features, display song progression, lyrics too, even on over the homescreen by one click.
Only drawback, the way we browse through the library is unfinished.
If I start looking at an artist, I would like to then see the albums.
For now all the artist's songs get mixed up even with correctly tagged mp3 files.
And it doesn't find as much lyrics as Wikitune or Lyrics app.
There is more info of the 2.5 here : http://mobileplanet-waryam.blogspot.com/2011/08/ttpod-v250-beta-250-android-apk-app.html
TTPod was my favourite player on symbian, on android i did not like it so much, but i will try it again.
I like it.! Better then stock n other paid apps. ( wont mention names). When there's a song playing n its on my screen how do I add to favorites? On the sane screen? .... I kno I can hit list then the song then the heart. Is there an easy 1 touch way. alot safer when driving ..... thanks for sharing this!

This used to be my favourite on symbian for some years and now I can finnaly get even more than before... I find EQ a great upgrade to it!!! But it lacks some more presets, Poweramp has better sound quality than TTpod...
I find the miui music player and ubermusic way better than this.
Agree MrHaxx1. MIUI Player has all this and much more. Ubermusic + DSP Manager is also pure awesomeness.
Love it

You mean audio manager by dsp manager?
NM found it is from cyanogen
I agreee that that there may be some other music player out there with more features. But let me tell you that none of them run as smoothly as this one on a low profile device such as HTC Wildfire with froyo. So its clear that it uses less resources. And while using other music players while changing settings on equaliser the mini second pause is clearly evident on a low profile phone. But TT-pod solves that for me. Hence for me its the best and more importantly you allhave to agree that none of the players are visually so appealing as this one even the MIUI player
Is anyone else's recommend and online music sections in Chinese?

Just looking for an app that I can use to search YouTube for music, and play its audio only. Theres a lot of music I listen to on YouTube, but don't want to deal with buffering the whole video, keeping the phone awake etc. Found an app called UMusic, but it has been removed from market and can't find an apk anywhere. Anyone know of any alternatives? Thanks

There was an app called "Ghost town" and rather good it was too. But it also shared the same fate, and was removed. It's obviously Google clamping down on certain licensing laws.
I use these now, they run from the Grooveshark Databases, but are free, and are rather good.

*Note- You need to download Flash Player from Market first*
Happy listening.

I have tinyshark, and its really good, just still a fair amount of music I can't find ... completely forgot about ghost town, I had it a long time ago. Thank you for your reply, ill look into it

heh, i was looking for the same a couple of months ago. i tried most (all?) of the apps i found to do this (or something like this), some of them worked with flash and others didn't, but i found none of the apps really reliable, as in they all gave me issues sooner or later... ranging from connection problems, major buffering issues, app crashing, to no music found, etc. etc. none of them worked as well as the default youtube app, if only it would work in the background! So would love to hear if there is a simple and nice alternative that showed up recently!!
Yeah ghost town is dead... shame someone can't modify the YouTube app to do this..

Yea, +1 that my friend!
ghost town is here: http://ghosttownapp.com/
I wasn't able to download it from the ghost town site. I found an apk for it but it will no longer play music

you sir, deserve quite a large cookie.
my ONLY complaint, which i noticed in the comments as well... is the quality. however, it may have been the particular song i chose, or my phone, or whatever. I'll be trying this out in the car tomorrow. Thanks, I def appreciate it!
What is the best music app available? I'm stuck on what I should get.
Sent from my R800i using XDA App
Try Using Poweramp, its available on the android market, its the best one ive ever used, it plays nearly all file formats and even has an option to search for missing album artwork and editing id tags
I took a look at Poweramp, and promptly uninstalled it. Someone had recommended it to me (based on an earlier version), but the new version's UI is just so unbelievably messy it's not worth trying to navigate it at all.
I personally use Real Player. Gets the job done. I'm looking forward to when VLC player is finally available though.

PowerAmp's new UI takes getting used to, once you're used to it, it's pretty much the best player out there. Downloads missing artwork, VERY advanced equalizer, I think it supports Wide Stereo too, but the X Stereo function is the bomb!
Poweramp and PlayerPro are the most feature-rich options. I use Poweramp and I like it, particularly the music lyrics plugin, but its UI needs a serious overhaul. It's made more for a pimped ride's in-car Android user interface than for a phone. So much glitter, neon and pizzazz makes people want to puke and I can relate with it... however, it works nicely, it's got a powerful EQ and it works very well with BT headphones. A pleasure to use, horrible to look at.
I use the miui music apparently. Its nice. At least I like it and its my favorite music apparently.

Have started using Realplayer and the fact that you can change song from the lockscreen is a major biggie! (To me anyway) I think it's also got a nice UI to look at too.

Hi guys,
I´m looking for a folder based music player. What I´d really like is something that would allow you to long press over a music folder and click "play"...something like that.
I was using Mortplayer but I got fed up with it.
Vanilla Music?
The best one I've used so far is FOLDER PLAYER by peter shashkin quite straight forward and really easy to use. I use it on my dx100 music player and its awesome

Ubermusic seems to do the trick for me. Might be a fair bit old since the last update but is pretty stable compared to other players. Also uses the WP7/Metro theme look too.
PlayerPro can do this, but it isn't free (it's $5). If you long-press a folder you can get Play, Enqueue, Shuffle, Add to Playlist, etc., etc.
I don't use the folder feature (I prefer to use the metadata sort, usually by artist/band), but I have used it. It works good.
Best folder players
Poweramp .. not free but above all others
Mixzing .. has free and premium .. give free version a shot .. has lyric support too

I fully suggest poweramp. Especially if your device supports DVC
