Currently I am using the Community Rom 1.2 flashed from the stock OTA ED01.
As the title states, I have chosen to use the Gingerbread keyboard in settings and at random times it will switch to the Swype keyboard. As an example, I can sometimes start to type a text using the Gingerbread board, which is good, and within a few minutes I can open the browser to type and the swype board pops up? Also, when I reboot it pretty much always reverts back to the Swype keyboard.
Any ideas on how to make the setting for using the Gingerbread keyboard stick?
Could I maybe get a link to the Gingerbread APK that is used in the Community Rom?
Appreciate the help ahead of time...
Update...
Flashed latest Red Voodoo CWM 3.x UPDATED 4.26.11 with Odin and wiped cache, dalvik, reloaded Community Rom 1.2 Patch and fixed permissions.
Gingerbread keyboard seems to be working now without switching to Swype.
Update 2
Spoke too soon...
As soon as I plugged the phone in to charge and let it sleep for a while, it reverted from the Gingerbread board back to Swype.
Any ideas???
Root your device. Once its rooted, you can then install Superuser and a root-enabled uninstaller. You can then uninstall swype, which (if you're like me) is not a feature you'll miss.
Swype came pre-installed on the stock Skyrocket, after updating to the new deodexed rom i seemed to have lost it. I can't find it in any of the markets, anyone have any idea how to get it back on without have to go back to full stock?
just download any of the STOCK AT&T ROMs from the DEV section and unzip it to find the swype.apk within the /apps folder
The Swype that came with these phones is 3.23. The latest version of swype is 3.26 and you can download it on the swype beta official page. I'd recommend the newer version as it has a few more fixes and such in it that make a difference for me.
You can then back it up with titanuimbackup and when you restore it after flashing other ROMs, it will restore your personal dictionary as well.
Sign up for the swype beta and they will send an installer with the newest version of swype.
Or perhaps try another keyboard w/ swype-like capabilities? I'm using Touchpal right now, and it seems to work just fine for swype'ing, and I also like their word prediction (though maybe not as good as Swiftkey).
After rooting my phone LG Doubleplay running 2.3.4, I foolishly installed Contacts.apk 4.0. I wasn't thinking enough at the time to know that it would replace the old app but wouldn't install because of my phone not meeting software requirements. Well, that's exactly what happened. I installed all the Android 2.3.4 stock apps and moved the contacts.apk file to \system\app, but when I attempted to install it, I got the message "error parcing package." So I deleted the file, but now my mom, who isn't the best with the phone; meaning she doesn't know to use a third party app, wants to trade. However, all the stock android app 2.3.4 torrents are gone for some weird reason.
So in summary, I would like a download file for the contacts 2.3.4 apk AND a tutorial on how to install it onto my system.
heres a nandroid

I tried CM7, 9 and 10 on my SK17I / mango and realized, what I really wanted was Stock ICS from google, and not stock ICS from sony with all their homegrown bloat in it.
So.. how do you remove/replace all the crap they put in there.. I already tried putting the vanilla apk's in the system/app, chmod and wipe dalvik, but they just doesnt show up.
How do I remove the bloat and get real ICS in there?
Is it neccesary to rebuild the source before flashing or is it possible after?
Thank you.
I managed to clean the Stock rom from Bloat with Root explorer and ADB Shell, and replaced stock apps with "vanilla" CM9 apps Alarm, messaging and calendar.
I just cant seem to get the phone and contacts to work.. any advice are greatly welcomned !
I got a new phone today S-Color Z3 running android 4.3.1 , never used an android before thought it was like iphone that if you **** up you can just do a restore from itunes. Did a root from king root and deleted system applications which seemed useless. I also deleted system ui and now there's no multitasking and notification bar . I don't know anything about android did a search on custom rom it didn't work. Any way i can get back to stock rom ? As i can't find any stock rom of this phone.
Any kind of help/assistance is highly appreciated
Thanks.
