Hi im coming from winmo on topaz and might be getting LG Ally and want to root could one of you Android DEVs out there root the ally...i have used android via HaRET.exe and i prefer it over winmo and iOS so can someone root for all us Ally users, I know it isnt a high-end power machine but i really want new roms and froyo and all that JAzz...please root...

Guy at work just got this phone, Visionary will root this phone, i just did it. it loaded superuser and i installed Adfree.
BTW, i think the phone has like 50mb of total memory....horrible.
z4root works on the latest build which is ZVC. Any build before that Universal Androot 1.6 does the trick.

I can confirm that z4root works on the newest update on LG Ally. Just bought one for my daughter today, applied the latest update and used z4root version 1.3 to root it in about 30 seconds. Had AdFree and Titanium Backup up and running a couple of minutes after that. I did read that it needs to be z4root version 1.3 though for it to be successful on the latest update on Ally.

alright im tired of every one just saying lets go to androidforums iv been with them and well the comunity is a little selfish and both major rom devs (one vanishing mid beta) and one who has kinda disapeared after a 2.2 rom ( we just got it). he is a geat guy and an even beter rom dev but im afraid that he is gone. just a hunch. and well also have onother drelesdi ( i think thats right) i havnt heard much from him he said he had 2.3 ported but he held on to it. said he was waiting for 2.2 for a newr kernal. but we havnt heard anything from him and thos who have spaoken with him have said it wont be released to radio issues which i saw coming( not lik ei knew there would be problems with the radio just i figured there woul dbe some issues) now onto my major point i would like to get a dedicated lg ally section and i want to get a comuniy goin over here too! so devs i can help some im a great tester ill risk my device no prob iv got adb and all that jazz so lets get this train rolling!

Okay, so I have the LG Optimus T and I have it soft rooted with z4root. The problem is this: There are no custom ROM's for the LG Optimus T. I can't overclock my CPU (which is a major draw to rooting) with the kernel I have installed. Can someone please help me? I am very new to this, and I'm open to criticism, but I'd appreciate it if you'd answer with helpful criticism. Talk to me as if I'm a beginner, not an idiot. Thanks in advance, guys.

The rom is called bareoptimus. I was having trouble with link so if its broke let me know and I will try to find another.
Once you root you are going to want to flash custom recovery too, just incase anything at anytime go's wrong. Hope this helps!!!!

I wouldnt of used Z4root, from what I read it wasnt really meant for 2.2, I used Gingerbreak 1.20 and everything is fine...Im currently using devoid froyo final with superblue v5 theme and it's running smoothly, I tried using the darktheme but it didnt work for me, I started years ago with rooting and my very first android phone was the tmobile g1, that's back when there werent programs for rooting you had to learn how to root using TE or ADB, im still in the process of learning everything I can myself and would love to learn how to cook my own roms

I'm sorry if i'm reposting the same thing and i do know that a lot of ppl are getting yelled at for this but I'm really ignorant about this android operating system... i don't know what it is... i don't know what rooting is... or whats the difference between froyo and eclair... Like I've mentioned earlier i don't know anything about this except for the fact that i just bought a new Samsung galaxy S captivate... If anyone can help plz do cause i am lost to no end... Thank you very much...
Rooting gives you administrative control over your phone and allows you to flash custom versions of Android. It basically allows you to have much more control over what you can do on your phone. Froyo, Eclair, etc are the names given to different versions of Android. Eclair is 2.1, Froyo 2.2, and Gingerbread 2.3.
Ohhh... well i think i i root my phone and is currently running eclair but i am trying to run froyo on it... how can i get there.... i'v dont some research on this forum and YouTube lol but the links they give me all came back as dead links... and installing froyo with cognitive is very confusing because the package that i have to install is a lot more than the elair... am i stating this correctly or am i just lost period... stay at version 2.1 eclair and get darkys v9.0.2 the best by far, its a custom rom and is amazingly fast. its easier todo if your on 2.1. so uprgrade to darkys rom. type in darkys rom. and itt has full instructions for noobs
i think the main reason for me to update is because i want to run skype... other then that i love eclair... i don't mind it at all... but for some reason skype only works on 2.2 firmware...
Im new to android too ... I just got my htc legend. The problem is i believe its under "vodafone" branding because everytime i switch my phone on the vodafone logo shows up. So the first i want to do is to remove this ... Can you please help me put here ?
hahha ive just sent my back to the guy i bought it off as mine was unlocked but vodafone branded. i hate it wen they do this. sometimes they even put vodafone stickers on the fone, its so annoying. am not entirerly sure to be fair. maybe reflash the phone . not sure mate

'you're in the right place, give it a couple of weeks and in no time you will be rooting ROMing and modifying like a pro. take it from me who knew nothing about the Android OS and now I'm up there.

guys I have been testing all rooting apps and started editing the phone seems like its starting to work maybe I can root it i have spent over a month testing this project I will keep you updated in what happens btw the phone is HTC Aria 2.2 FROYO and im using all the rools for phone editing I know some people will reply with its impossible and stuff but maybe there is a way im gonna check more out

Please update when you do figure it out I'm trying to do the same and I've never tried rooting my phone before.
Yes, please keep us updated. I am trying to root my brother-in-laws HTC Aria and just found out there isn't a root for the 2.2 FROYO.
I will definitely donate one for you if you can figure a root out. Just keep us updated and I will check back every so often.

Hi..just got the ICS ota and now want to root my tf101.To admit iam a noob at rooting a tablet.I have rooted thunderbolt with several roms on it .Just need a way to root the ICS the tablet is stock only 2 weeks old.It seems like the brilliant minds at xda have roms being developed every day .HELP Me please have some fun and to donate so someone can have some beers on me or might set the bar up ...lol have donated to every ROM that I downloaded so I am not a freeloader.just need HELP since tablets are new to me and can see rooting is totally different than phones.

ViperMod option 1 worked for me. I had to install ASUS sync to get ADB drivers working first though.
is there anything on the lg optimus elite and can ics be put on it?
The phone is already running ics but I'm not sure I'm actually getting the phone on Friday I'm pretty excited cause my wildfire Idrives me nuts with the buggy roms. But as far as I know I don't think anyone's even found a way to root it yet, but I'm not real sure. You might try googling it, I'm interested in this as well I hope they make a thread for it.

I have been looking for a way to get it rooted. No luck yet. I have an ns4g runnin the jb rom. My buddy, who is helpless in the android world, has been begging me to get it rooted. :silly:
A word from the wise, after a dozen or so downloads from various sources all the files out there that claim to root the elite are corrupt. Even the ones linked from here are no good. Hopefully someone can bail us out but don't dl the ones from the android forums they are crap.
