You see how the background is only as far as the keys are and you get the white (or whatever color the bg is of the app your on) sidebar and bottom stripe?
You can't see that on the original LatinIME.apk.
See, this is the original.
Its that dark gray background on the LatinIME.apk that I want fixed on the Voice Keyboard.

Come on, is no one gonna help me? I was told it was easy! I have no idea how to fix it, but I was hoping someone would!

I'm playing around with the APK a bit, its called "VoiceSearchWithKeyboard.apk", formery "VoiceSearch.apk" and "LatinIME.apk". I was hoping to find a transparent "Such_and_such_Image.png" in the new one, and the same image, only not transparent, in the old one. So far, I'm not seeing it. Perhaps its something deeper, something in the XMLs?
I can see you don't like the way it is now, but I think most people do, and I believe its working as intended.
Perhaps someone more experienced can help shed some light?
***Attached are the files in question***

In this post Konipub has a flashable zip for his rom with voice keyboard that doesn't have transparent background(atleast not in HIS pictures)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=6182240&postcount=2
So I removed all the key layout files from my phone because some of them had different names and I know the zip wouldn't over ride them; and I flashed it. It looks just like the one from darches google ****s. I don't know if konipubs picture is inaccurate, or perhaps the background file is actually a file from the framework-res? I almost feel like it must be. Will do some heavy digging tonight!

: Disregard:

Its probably in an .xml within the layout folder. That keyboard bugs me when its like that as well...I'd dig through the .xml's, but ive been too tired to even focus on it...Try the Droid X keyboard, its nicer.

Thanks. I actually do have Froyo with CM6 Test Build 0 right now, but I think the VoiceSearchWithKeyboard.apk was removed.

I take it back, I think the problem is because the. .apk is for high resolution phones. I'm willing to bet there s an hdpi folder instead of mdpi. Yup, I was right this is for high Res phones. Its an easy fix.

If it's an easy fix, do you think you can do this? Please say yes.
And I almost gave up all hope.

Mods can delete this thread. No longer applies to CM Roms. Issue resolved.

Updated 5/26/10 with new version supporting Fresh 2.1.2. See Here for download.
First person to notice what's different about the content of this screenshot wins (not regarding the Rosie/Launcher).
Some people were talking about doing this, so I wanted to see if it was possible, turns out it is .

That was fast . You win for being the fastest typer. Not sure of the value, but wanted to see what it might take to do. Any interest out there for this? It does give more room for other "stuff" if nothing else.
clock is gone, and all the icons are pushed over to the right... awesome
how far over do the notifications go?
Giveeemee i like that haha
That's freakin awesome!
I dislike redundancy (clock widget AND time in the taskbar), will you be sharing this one?
You care to share?

It's an edit to a framework .jar file, and my .jar file has additional edits for the white taskbar/notification menu, so it's difficult to distribute.
I could probably do 2 versions. One if your notifications drop down menu is stock, another if it is AOSP style, and thus has some font/button tweaks, like mine.

It doesn't have to be a MetaMorph for this change, as we are not updating a handful of files in an apk/jar file. In this instance, we are replacing the whole thing.
That is one of the challenges in distributing.

Indeed. Couldn't leave it with all the extra space. Aesthetically, it was killing me. Figured there had to be a better way .

Theme questions

I am making myself a theme and was wondering if anybody knew which files changed these two things.

Sorry I can't be more help immediately but I can tell you the green widget moving box will be a .9.png and will probably be pretty small.
Obvious places to start would be in the 2 framework apk's but they may well be somewhere in system/app too. I'd look in anything widget related (downloader, updater, etc) and I'd look in rosie.apk too..
again, sorry thats just a couple shots in the dark but I'd like to know too. I'll poke around some tonight and see if I can find them
Yeah I figured it was going to be a .9 file, probably 1px but I just can not find them.

Well it would probably be a minimum of 9x9, and it looks like it has rounded corners so maybe more than that. Also, both of these things might not be pngs. Could be simple xml drawings.
I was thinking maybe xml also. are there any good tutorials on how to edit the xml's?

Use APK manager to decompile the apk, it'll output readable/editable xml files. I don't have the link on me but a quick search in the forums will bring it up.
AwardTour, have you recompiled a framework apk with AppManager yet? I tried but kept getting an error when it got to the manifest.
OP, here is a link to Apk_Manager_4.8. I can't offer any advice on editing xml, yet.. I just decompiled and saw a readable xml for the first time a couple days ago it was cool
apktool
http://code.google.com/p/android-apktool/
makes altering apks a snap.
I have looked around in the XML's and png and still can not find these for the life of me. I have a few more I can not find either. Any help on any of these would be greatly appreciated.

just wait for the next release of the port. either that, or go over to miui-devs and ask nix to release it early.

Nope, I'm patient...lol. Sounds like its under control.... Thanks for the reply!
I like very much. When can it be releasing?
I had a shot at doing a very basic translation, which wasn't too tricky.
The problem i am having is with APKTool.
See, I decompile the MIUI_Weather_7.apk, edit the strings.xml, and recompile it. Everything works fine....except when install it. When i pick to install it, it goes "application not installed".
So then i decided to see if editing the strings.xml was an issue. I decompiled the MIUI_Weather_7.apk, and, without making any changes to it at all, recompiled it straight away. It still gave the message "application not installed".
If anyone knows why that happens, please let me know - I think this weather application/widget combo looks delectable....just this annoying issue...preventing me from doing uh....anything
Josh.

+1 on this. Yes, I read somewhere in this forum apktool messed up recompilation and suggested working version was 1.3.1. Hope to see it in action soon fllash...with international support though
i kinda like the look of this clock but i also love the flip clock so i modded the flip clock to look more like this style. still in beta, working out a small bug that when the digits flip, it loses the inner shadow, sometimes for good and sometimes till the next flip. will be available in all colors when worked out. or i could mod the non flip clock also. there shouldn't be problems with that one since it does not flip.
New MIUI clock looks nice
I also like the look of the new weather/clock widget. Its a fresh new look to the old flip clock. Please get this translated and ported over. Even if I have to manually push the files in I would like to try it out.
Thanks to whomever is working on this.

[ROM] DI14 Blues ROM

With a little work and permission from jabbawalkee I have ported parts of the MattedBlues theme into this ROM. The original MattedBlues can be found at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=768848
I would also like to add a thanks and credit to nitsuj17 for some of the images and the dialer. At the time of my original post, I was unaware that some of the pieces I was using were his.
This is in beta as I have not yet gotten everything in it that I want, but it's a good start and usable. As usual take a nandroid backup before you flash anything. I am not responsible for anything you do to your phone while flashing any of this content. That being said, I have had no problems with any of it. It uses all of the dependencies so all of the stock apps should work and anything that has been removed can be added from the Pick-n-Pack ROM.
Here are a few screen shots. They are low res, so the dock icons look especially fuzzy.

If you want to use the icons for the phone, contacts, app drawer, mms, and web they are in the icon.zip below.
This looks like a theme as opposed to the rom, looks good though and Thanks for posting it.

I probably should have explained a little more. I only decided to deem it a ROM because I left the apk's in tact. Since it installs apk's and not just the drawables and xml's I couldn't call it a theme. I will probably start a pull on all of that stuff so I can put it out as a theme also, but I have several others I'm working on right now so this was the easier for me. Kinda lazy I know, but if the permissions come in I want to be able to get them put out for the variety for now.
--EDIT
OK, I took the time, not as long as I thought btw, to go ahead and rip out the files that need to be taken out of the ROM to make a theme only version. I will post it in the themes and apps section as soon as it finishes uploading.

[Q] Disabling the Multi-Window button GN10.1

I've tried searching for this but only found stuff in the SGN2 forums.
Is there anyway to disable/move the Multi-Window button? This button is making some of my applications considerably more difficult to use since it blocks functionality partially in some apps.
Yeah hold done back button to disable.. also you can just drag and drop the icon.. so you can have it where you like it!!

I've just tried this. The back button method doesn't work and the button is not draggable. I had been trying to avoid flashing, but looks like I might have to.
Is there really no way? That multi windows button is pretty annoying, and I never use multiwindows. That zip merely makes it translucent but I guess it will have to do. =/

If you have a custom recovery installed then you can follow JamMasterClay's instructions in this thread.
However, the icon replacements he offered were not quite what I wanted since I wanted to remove the button completely. So, I just downloaded one of the button mods that he has available and extracted the zip, replaced the two png files with the two originally posted by heavylildude in this thread and created a new zip archive. Then used the newly created archive as per JamMasterClay's instructions. The floating cascade window is now gone from my apps (you do lose the functionality, but it's worth the trade off in my opinion, but you probably do want to back up the undo zip in case you ever want it back).
There may be an easier way to do this, but I wasn't sure if you could just copy the two png files directly into the apk.
