I'm looking for a program wich allows me to edit/modify my phone registry, from my PC. Copy/paste registry entries of my phone on my PC screen.
Anyone know an application like this?

ceregeditor will do what you want

Thanks, works perfect, all I needed

try http://ceregeditor.mdsoft.pl/
or even Soti Pocket Controller-Pro

Help with PDB file?

I'm running WM6 on a wizard. I have a program which shows airfields and information about them called smart companion (attached for anyone who wants to play) which would be really useful for me as a commercial pilot. Unfortunately the associated database file is in pdb format which I was told would work on both Palm and WM (The executable is the WM version) but my wizard wont read it.
Does anyone know how to make this work or do i need a different database format? Can it be converted to the right one?
I have attached the pdb file as well.

For reading my PDB files I use a free program: OLIVETREE Bible READER: http://www.olivetree.com/pocketpc/
It has an option to read other stuff like ebooks, etc...

Thanks
Thanks for that I have downloaded it & will try it.
Ideally I would like to get the database to work with the 'smart companion' program as it allows you to add notes & shows the airfields in a proper diagramatic way.
Can pdb files be converted to work like this?
Thanks again

I am confused, are you trying to run an application made for a PALM device? If your answer is YES, try StyleTap you won't regret it: http://styletap.com
I just don't know if it is supported though. I use StyleTap to run SUperMemo for Palm. Although there is a SuperMemo for PPC but from a different company, and it sucks. The MapleTop SuperMemo software is better.
Thanks for the post cktlcmd.
The smartCompanion program has two versions. One for palm (a prc file) and one for WM (an exe file). However it only has one database file (a pdb file).
When I run the exe file on my wizard (tried it on wm5 and wm6). the programs runs fine but does not find the database. I made sure the database was in the same directory/folder as the exe file but no joy.
My mate who gave it to me reckons he knows people running it on WM and it is to do with where the database is stored but he runs it on Palm & doesn't know much about WM.
Since your post I have got it running using styletap and the prc (palm) version so I am very happy about that.
I would still very much like to work out how to use the exe version as it runs smoother (orientation changes very slowly using styletap when I want to use my keyboard and a few other minor annoyances).
Anyway your suggestion means I actually have use of the program, and I can run other palm programs if I want as well. Thanks.
Does anybody know if I have to have a pdb file in a specific folder for it to be found by a program?

Let me get this straight, when you install the PPC version it runs fine but can't find the pdb file, right? If the answer is YES, then there should be a setting within that PPC application on pointing to where you should place the pdb file. Otherwise, try the very root of the SD Card, that might be the default setting of the PPC application.

How to make Windows Mobile screenshots?

Yea, the title speaks by itself. I have a Himalaya with WM6 and I'm developing a .NET CF program. I need to make some screenshots.
How to? Possibly for free? I found VITO Screen Capture but is not freeware and probably the license expires after formatting HDD...
Thanks in advance
Many programs can make screenshots from within the device, or from desktop pc.
Freeware utility for PC:
MyMobiler
Freeware Pocket PC apps:
MagicSS
IliumSoft's Screen Capture - with possibility of timed screenshots
And many other free apps - some were developed in Development and Hacking subforum here at xda-devs.
MyMobiler is awesome - great little program. In addition to allowing screenshots, it allows complete control of your PPC from your computer, which I find incredibly handy when I'm at my desk. Being able to work with files on the PPC from my desktop window with a keyboard and mouse is far more useful than it sounds.
XnView - a nice free image viewer also allows timed screenshots (you activate the program, set screenshot timeout, minimize it and afret given time the screenshot will be taken). Just make sure you save them in png - jpg's can look ugly.

Yeah I would give my thumbs up to My Mobiler too. Great application and its free.
My Mobiler Problems after Kaiser Tweak
I have a Tilt and I just had to do a hard reset. I installed MyMobiler and it worked perfectly until I installed Kaiser Tweak. I basically set up KT with all of the Advised Settings. Now, whenever I try to run MyMobiler, it tells me that my password is incorrect and I need to reset it. Once I reset the password on the computer, it tells me to reset it on the phone using a method which is not possible.
BTW, I never setup a password with MyMobiler.
Any Suggestions/ideas?

How to edit the registry

I am trying to us the tweak that prevents the screen going to sleep during a call but as I am a newbie I do not know how to use Ceregeditor which I have installed on my pc.
I have connected my cruise via activesync and ran Ceregeditor. I can locate what value I am to change but I cannot change it. I get access denied error. I obviously am missing something which would allow me to change the value.
Can someone please let me know the correct steps to take?
Thank you
Why don't you try Resco Explorer with Resco registry. Very easy to use programme. So you can make your registry changes from the device itself.

I am only a newbie and have never used a registry editor before and so have only downloaded a free editor. I had not planned to edit regularly but if i can make this work i may become more confident and may make more use of a editor. I believe Resco is an excellent editor but as of yet i don't require it when basically i can get one free for the one or two edits i may try.
Thank you for your opinion.
Try Total Commander registry editor:

It's free and I have used it on the TC so I know it works.

Registry Editor

Can someone here tell me how to edit my registry without a downloaded registry editor? Before you reply about just downloading one i want to know what microsoft uses to edit the registry kinda like regedit in windows! I have read here and you have a lot of useful info! So i kinda figured i would ask some of you guys. Thanks in advance! I am sorry i meant to put i have a HTC touch pro running windows mobile 6.1!!!
there is no build in regeditor in wm
but you can write reg commands in a console of
cause you have to download a console program to fire
them but when you do you can just write the same commands
as stated in the .reg file
Any idea what microsoft uses? Do their techs have to install a third party app? If so i would like to know what one they use! It seems silly not to be able to edit the registry with the operating system!!???? Is windows mobile a client OS????? Maybe if i can find that .reg file i can maybe open it in word or something and edit it! But it just doesnt make any sense to me I have dealt with every os in the windows family besides these and for every one there was a way to edit this!
microsoft doesnt do most of their development on the phones themselves, they have direct access to registry through the builders and emulators. if you want to do registry edits on the phone itself, get a third party program. it wont kill you. i recommend total commander, its a full file browers thats less restrictive and can edit the registry, it has a text editor, ftp client, and can do windows sharing. it can apparently import .reg files but i havent figured that out yet.

Total Commander is an excellent app to add to your phone. Access the regedit part from Plugins/registry. Usual caveat, backup before making changes.

HD" Registry editor on Desktop PC

Hi everyone,
Is there a registry ediitor out there that can be used from my PC to edit the HD2 registry?
I've just reflashed my HD2 and tried restoring the registry but it wouldn't load, so have quite a few changes l'd like to do.
Thanks.
Owen.
Soti Pocket Controller allows this and a whole lot more. It's how I edit my Leo registry and is by far the best way. Unfortunately, it's commercial but has a demo for you to try.
http://www.soti.net/default.asp?Cmd=Products&SubCmd=PCPro
Thank you, l'll try it and see what it has to offer.
Owen.
