Hello,
i've got a question about internet on the HTC HD2
sometimes when i''m on the internet ans searching for a website, my HTC says:
Page not found
We're sorry, we cannot find the page you requested.
This may be due to an outdated link or bookmark. Click back and try a different link.
But the internet adress is spelled correct. When i'm on my PC at home, there is no problem at all...

Hi there,
is it when ur connected to your wifi network or on gprs/data?
Have you checked both settings, added your network key if needed etc?
Lame questions i know, but gotta ask
Cheers.
Thanks for your reply
It is when i'm on gprs/data. And the problem is not common, but very occasionaly and often by the same website. I really don't know why it happens.
Also, when the error is there, the webadress says: vo-nl-99gate.waatpartner.com/splash.xhtml?ref=world_yp
But this has nothing to do with the website im looking for! strange!?
Some one please?

Ok so they give us a password to connect to the wifi, then from there if you are on a laptop then browser automatically opens and you input a user name and password...this then connects you. I'm not too sure how to do this on my Jasjar, do i manually configure? How? Where do i input username and password because the browser doesnt automatically open for me. We are trying to connect using phones, iphones, and my ppc. How do I connect??
Thanks for reading.
Do you know what kind of authentication used in your school? It's 802.1x? Do you have to install a certificate? Try to find out more information...
Open a good browser(say opera) and try opening any site on it. This is most likely the case. You'll be auto-directed to the page where you can input the user-id and password
I have similar problem.
The VPN solution that is used needs users to authenticate via xauth, which is not supported by WM.
Does anyone have a good proposal for a client to use?
If there's no free solution I don't (really) care about the costs.

Thanks for the links
I tried to find some proper software myself, but apparently i did something really wrong!
The decription of the NCP Tool looks promising, as it should include everything I need. I'll give it a try (could take some days) and tell whether I've been lucky or not...
I downloaded Opera so i will try with that tomorrow...I cant understand German so i cant understand that link and cant download. Will see with Opera anyway, thanks.

You don't need to
First, on the german version of the NCP homepage youget to the downloads by clicking Downloads, then choosing Software, then the Client, that's also named english
If you can't figure out how to set up he account needed in german, just click on the little American flag in the upper right of the screen
It's present on the homepage and the downloads page.
The second link is just an instruction anyway, except for the link to the SecureW2 Client. You should find the (english) homepage of that via google. You don't need to bother downloading that if the authentication method isn't 802.11.
Thanks mate, but I tried with Opera and it works!!! Now to find a way to access msn!!

You can allways use online live messenger http://mobile.live.com/pocketpc/
Been looking for a way to get it to work at college as well.
Have got no idea what do cause we use certificates here, have one on my ppc and installed it (on sd as well as the device).
Got practically everything filled out except when selecting a certificate i get the message that there is none.
Been trying to consult the It-services desk but they have no experience whit this.
Do you have any idea which steps i should take?
Thanks in advance
Online messengers are blocked also, they use some burst filtering software or something, will check to see if i can find an unblocked site. Would be great if there was a way to allow everything. Thanks lads.
I searched to see if anyone posted and they didnt.
I go to www.google.com/gmm and it says "sorry, google maps does not work on your htc touchdual".....
Anyway to get google maps on my touch pro?????
Came pre-installed on mine. Are you sure you don't already have it?

I dont have any GPS software on my device, that sucks!
Anyway I can get a copy from your device?????
THANKS!
I have a better idea. Why don't you check out this thread chock-full-o applications for the Diamond. Scroll down and you'll find Google Maps and you may find other things that interest you as well. As the Diamond is very similar to the Touch Pro it should work. I got my iGo nav software up and running by reading a thread posted in the Diamond forum. So if you don't find what you're looking for over here, try over there. You may also want to try Windows Live Search. I believe the url is wls.live.com which you can download directly via your s...l...o...w... EDGE connection. Let us know how it works out.

thank you!!!!
i got it on my device but it will not show my location, it says looking for satelite.
tnx again
Also, if you're trying to download from www.google.com/gmm, make sure you use pocket IE. if you go to that website using opera, it identifies itself as a desktop browser and hence you get the error.

If you haven't already then try doing this:
1) Run QuickGPS and download latest satellite data.
2) In Google Maps select Menu->Use GPS.
Be patient the first time, it will take longer than usual to acquire a signal the first time you use it. QuickGPS should help to acquire a signal faster. If you are having trouble then make sure you are outside or close to a window with a direct view of the sky to test it, but it will probably work in the interior of your home too.
Ok so I used Internet Explorer as suggested on the board and was able to load it with no problem.
Thanks again and hope this post helps someone else.
Link to the Android USB driver on the Root Mod Sticky is broken.
I did a fresh computer install and lost the driver.
Anyone think they could rehost it?
A google search for "android usb driver" should give you what you are looking for
yeah.....
One might think it was that simple. Thank you for the reply but I typically do that, however this morning when I posted this the G1 Android driver links were bogged down and displaying Oppps This link appears broken (Chrome Browser). After I got home today, I went and googled it again, and found 3 broken links. Then I finally found a working one from Href.to which directed me and then I was able to download the zip file. Believe me, I would not look at one web page, throw my hands up and call it quits =P.

The very first result is a google page, with a link to the file that works.
Thats the link that isnt working for me.
Thanx JF, but thats the link that isn't working for me. It also seems to be where most sites were linking me too. I found an alternate, perhaps its my internet provider or something else. But thanx to those that responded anyways.

Strange. Works for me. Sorry for the misunderstanding
Hi,
I just purchased a new HTC Touch HD phone T8285.
I have realised that it has come pre-loaded with a lot of Telstra configuration. I am not a Telstra customer and I would like to start with a clean phone in the factory shipped state.
I am in Australia and currently have a contract through Virgin (Optus)
Can anyone advise how I can reset the phone configuration so that all reference to Telstra is removed and that the standard factory settings are in place for Australia.
Any help is appreciated
Scott
Hi, welcome to XDA! You would need to flash a chef's cooked rom (must have HardSpl 1st). Check out the Blackstone section of this forum: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=453
Also, read the Sticky's!
How do I determine which one of these posts is relevant to my HTC Touch HD...?
When I search for this there are a lot of listings.....can you point me to one that might be specific for my device and location
Apologies as I am new at this....
Thanks
Scott

Scott, just click the http link in my above post and then do your search
Thanks for that I can see those instructions and will attempt to follow them...
A further question should I attempt to first use the following ROM upgrade link from HTC to see if it resolves my problem. Rather then using the previous reset instructions...
http://www.htc.com/www/SupportDownload.aspx?p_id=179&cat=2&dl_id=533
Or will this simple return me to the current state with the Telstra settings in place ?
Thanks
Scott
Hi,
Before I work use the post above to re-install the ROM on my HTC Touch HD....could I confirm the following...
- will the re-install of this mean that I will not be able to take updates to the ROM from HTC in the future
- will this process work for me as an Australia mobile phone user ?
- does the install include all the Windows Mobile operating system on the phone ready to use
Once again thanks for you help......I am new to this and want to make sure that I don't stuff the phone that have
Thanks
Scott

Social Web - Remove Telstra Wap Redirections ?
HI,
Dont know if anyone can help ... I have been searching the forums, but cant find this anywhere, so apologies if it is answered somewhere else.
I have a new HD2 with Telstra. I have managed to remove the locked quicklinks on the home page, and completed a few other incredible tweaks, but I just cannot seems to get the Social Web links to work when connected to WiFi - they will work when connected via Next G.
On WiFi, when I click on the Facebook icon for example, I get redirected to waprd.telstra.com/redirect?target=facebook-g ... and then nothing happens for about a minute. Just a white screen until I get a message saying "Could not connect to the remote server" . Yet, when I am connected via Next G I connect to Facebook immediately.
I have tried to find the xml code to change the URl, but I cannot find it anywhere.
Is anyone else having this problem, and if they did, was there a solution? Overall I am really happy with the phone (now that I seem to have spent about 3 days tweaking it!) and I would really like to get this fixed.
Thanks so much in advance.

hi sarah,
just wondering how did u get rid of the quicklinks off the the home screen, im not happy how they can not provide a phone in its original state!!any other important tweaks i should do when i purchase the phone??
waprd.telstra
I'm having the same issues any waprd.telstra sites will not work in a wifi enviroment. While I'm asking does anyone know hoe to changes the icons in the telstra "news and sport" or "social web" screens" ?
Hey Magic3091
Unfortunately most of those items are hard wired into the ROM. And the ROM is written to Telstra's specs. Hence the branding and all the BS
I suggest you try a new ROM to remove all of these. You'll have to do some reading to find out which is best for you.
I only just got my HD, and having seen how much Telstra stuff is there I WILL be ROMing it. I just need to figure out which one. If I rememder I will post which I choose.
Currently the MIRI rom looks like the best - new WinMob6.5 and Touch flo.
Cheers

Thats what I use to view on my phone, and it actually is the mobile version. Before the new layout was implemented, you would click on forum(PDA) and it brought you to that
thanks guys, but this is not realtime i think this link gets redirected to a archive screen.
I don't know if the link on the old homepage went to the archive or to a live pda version.
If someone knows please let me know
I was also looking for this a while back, but could not find anything.
