The latest update still showed Chinese characters for me. So decided to change them myself.

Probably not, but you can try.
Make sure to make a nandroid backup first. That way, if it does not work, you can go back.

Quite a lot of language support, character issues in Russian no longer exist and it includes a Mic button for voice input!

Oh, haven't thought India was restricted from downloading it. I can't post it right now, but just download a rom that has it and extract the apk.

Also can you reup the file, the download no longer works.
