if you dont feel comfortable building one your self i can peice one for you for a price ofcourse lol

I am using Motorola s9 hd Bluetooth headphones. And I would love to have an audio booster for this or an equalizer for it. A stand alone equalizer.

no diy stuff for bluetooth... maybe some day someone will make somethin for the market...

There has to be a media player that has a built in preamp

Boostaroo is a decent headphone inline amplifier I use in my rigged aux in for my car... SRSWow would be the plugin I recommend for Android development most (currently on my Fuze).. It clears the mids and provides better seperation and clarity.
SRSWOW FTW!

most recent HTC windows phone always come with the AUDIO BOOSTER once u plug in a headphone but i dont know if other androids by HTC has any.my recent retired HTC HD2 had one and it was really working out for me.

sorry guys those files r not compatible with the supersonic.i tried the beta half of the screen was missing.lookin forward to a 100% working audio tweaks for the supersonic hopefully someday.

check out astro player. there's a file, in the nexus forums i believe. it has an equalizer, definitely helps for mp3s. it's subtle, but it's something. i may also check out the modified sound files vinny posted (his 2nd link).

I wonder if we could improve the audio quality by combining the kernel source from this thread: {KERNEL-SOURCE} GoDmOdE-EVO-2.6.29 {Make Shift Kernel} http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=686240&page=7
with the patch from this announcement: Audio Mod for the Nexus One! http://androidaudiohacks.com/home/archives/182

[Question] Equalizer for Android

I was wondering if anybody found an Equalizer for android by now.
Would love to fine tune the sound of the song on my phone!
Yes interested in this too, love to be able to adjust the stereo balance, seem to be going slightly deaf in one ear.
The only thing I'm aware of is meltus' audio hack. It replaces the equalizer with one for higher volume, but he's released a few and suggests which work best for certain genres. I know it's not quite what you're looking for but you might find it useful. This does require a rooted phone.
I have seen two or three eq in the app store, but I am not sure if its available in your local.
A bit late, but I know this has been bugging me, so incase anyone else comes here looking, Astro Player does have equalizer (don't forget to check 'use equalizer' at the top before using the sliders). app is free with ads, $3 without them.
My Milestone has an builtin app to set the equaliser type like Bass Extreme, Bass Punch, etc. the bass is actually greatly enhanced!

Tell us more about this app. What is it's name for example?
I'm reviving this thread in the hopes that someone knows of an app that will allow me to balance the left and right channels on all stereo sound coming from the headphone jack. Failing that, any music/video player that has a balance control would be great.
Anyone know of one?
Thanks!

Bought the pay version but couldn't find the left /right balance control. Is it In the EQ area?
CyanogenMod 6 has a built in app called "DSP Manager" that lets you set EQ and dynamics (compression) for 3 profiles: headset, phone speaker and bluetooth.
I haven't really tested it but it looks pretty impressive. I'm not sure if it's available outside of CM6 or not.
Not sure if this helps being new to this. I tried audioplayerwitheq platinum on the HTC Desire which gives eq plus seperate left and right volume ajustment. Not the friendliest player though. Anyone know of a better one? Hope this helps you dc41
i hope someone port AudioBooster (WM) for Android

i do see more and more players with build in eq. but i am now using the one from fede, which does not (yet?) have one.

Any app for improving audio quality like better bass and treble ?

I know there is a DSP manager app, but that is not sounding that great. The reason I say this is that recently I gave up Droid X. The X had presets built into the music player for bass, 3D and stuff which made the same songs sound a lot better on the X than Droid 1.
I have tried some settings on Droid 1 in DSP Manager but they are nowhere near the quality of the X.
So does anybody have any other suggestions ?
Audio Quality..
I thought the same thing about the music sounding a bit flat. I installed the Power Amp player and am much happier now. It has a lot more customization controls, so you can add more bass if you want.
MixZing has an equalizer as well.

+1 to PowerAMP its amazing and has tons of presets and you can also make your own.
3rd on PowerAmp..nothing else like it Even plays music ripped from streaming well.
HTC's new senseUI (in Desire Z and HD) has a DSP Manager app that has an equalizer as well. 3 different settings for Headphones, BT and speaker.
Maybe that could be ported for other phones as well?
And no, it doesn't improve quality, a better set of headphones will do that.

Just note that on any eq, you may notice some distortion in the sound. This is especially true if using bass boost and applies to any form of eq.

This might be not too related to the topic, but..
I rarely ever use equalizers for the sole reason that the songs are already mixed how the artists intended the songs to sound. I used to abuse EQ like hell when I was younger and maxed bass and treble on everything I listened to. When I turned it off I suddenly noticed small quirks and new guitars in the background, just details that I couldn't hear before because the bass overpowered everything.
Just something to think about.

Beats vs. Poweramp

So after using Beats for a while, and then reinstalling PowerAmp, I've come to the conclusion that PowerAmp kicks the sh*t out of Beats. I dont use BT for music so I dont know how PowerAmp sounds over BT, but my headphones are nearly twice as loud on PowerAmp as they are on Beats mods, Dolby or HTC Surround. Plus the bass sounds WAY better. I have a pair of Bose ear plugs, and without a doubt the rock harder thru PowerAmp. How about you?

Beats is terrible. I pity the fool the who thinks it's good. It's like saying $10 wine is great without every having tried better ones.
Are using the beats mods or the actaul XE Rom? Cause the XE rom beats audio sounds great to me.

I'm using the revolution rom with it cooked in and I think the sound quality is better. I uninstalled all music players and am using the HTC player now with some tweaks from Volume+
Sent from my HTC Sensation XE with Beats Audio using XDA Premium App
I used mods, roms, stock, and everything else. Even winamp. PowerAmp kills em all. I cant listen to it full volume on PowerAmp. Where I really test is in transit. I cant hear even big trucks drive by me with poweramp. Beats and the rest of them sound terrible compared, and I hear traffic noise from smaller vehicles. Not to mention PowerAmp can run off or on headphones, and has an 8 band equalizer with a Preamp. It was my very first purchase from the Market and has been worth every penny. It lays the competition to waste. Not even Dsp manager can compare. I hate to be free advertising but I find it hard to believe HTC is being outgunned by a Market app. Beats is supposed to be The Best right? Got some work to do on that I think!
Sent from my "Wow this phone is amazing. Thanks Mike!"
Its hilarious that it is marketed as an enhancement, when it doesn't even have settings. It seems to be merely a ****ty eq you cant adjust.

I have poweramp and playerpro installed on my sensation. I use both of them, and I like them both. Can't decide which one I like better
I used to use Poweramp, but then thought I'd try Playerpro.
Have to say Playerppro is much better. The UI is beautiful. And with the free DSP Pack on the Market, the EQ is just as good as the Poweramp one.

Agreed. The new playerpro has a new updated dsp pack v2, and the UI is indeed better than poweramp. Not to mention that playerpro does not run in the background like poweramp.
I mainly only listen to metal and hardcore music, so beats was obviously a flop for my tast. I love poweramp, I like being able to make my own eq setting. Better Audio?

I know that this topic has been discussed before. I have tried the voodoo app and i have bought it. It just seems to make the sound even worse. I believe the culprit is dsp manager. So here Is what happens, I usually keep my volume 2-3 notches below the highest volume. I am using the acoustic preset on dsp manager with the bass slightly higher. If I go 2-3 notches above my normal volume, the sound gets really crackely and choppy. I tried the same song, but with the same preset but with even more bass on my sansa and it sounded crystal clear and really powerful even at higher volumes. Can someone suggest a fix. I am running HFP 2.1 and Faux's kernel.
Edit: I am also running beats audio from like march. And I'm using the google play music app

The first thing you need to do is remove the beats audio as it does nothing for the sound. Voodoo sound is much better as long as you have a kernel that has it built in. PowerAMP is one of the best equaliser apps out there for android but the overall sound quality coming from the G2x is not that good and will never be that good without better hardware.

I agree to disagree. Yes, get rid of beats. It didnt anything when I used it. Ditch google music its crap (intended for those of us who enjoy music? I think not.) I use PlayerPro (paid) with treble/bass booster preset with the bass knob almost all the way up. No matter how loud I make it, it kicks ass.
I'm also running RG2x MIUI with Faux kernel. Cleanest, smoothest, and all around best MIUI. Sorry Stormageddon. I used yours and my phone kept freezing. Not your fault, I know this. My phone just doesnt seem to like your roms. Or MIUI.us or Singh-MIUI's either for that matter. RG2x is the only one I can get to run with FC'ing a FC.
I use Winamp pro in conjunction with DSP manager and get GREAT sound (especially from FLAC ) I disable the EQ in DSP manager, Compression - Slight, Bass Boost - Slight, and depending on what I am listening to I will adjust Virtual Room. Everything else in DSP manager OFF. Then, in Winamp I use the Awesome 10 band EQ to adjust the sound to my liking.
I've been using winamp lately, but it still cannot drive my headphones as well as my sansa. Probably just the ****ty audio hardware from LG.

I know not of this ****ty audio you speak of. I consider myself an audiophile (500 gigs of FLAC and counting, high end Polk Audio home theater sound) and honestly, I am quite impressed with the audio quality from my phone. The actual hardware that is in the LG G2x is the same Wolfson DAC that is in the iPod touches and the iPhones. That DAC is really not that good especially for an audiophile. I never use my phone for music, and yes I only listen to FLAC or better and have a complete Sennheiser setup. I have tried making the audio better with an amp but even that just made the quality barely noticeably better. The quality is not that good and will never be that good.

Beats, EQ, DSPManager - What is best?

Hello to all, I was just wonder what sound enhancer people are using these days? I come from an Android device with DSPManager on it which would give extremely rich bass. Beats audio, although enhances my sound somewhat, is no comparison. I tried installing other EQ apps but they have no effect on my device. I think maybe the Beats engine is conflicting with other EQ plugins.
If anyone could share what they use or how they got it to work I would much appreciate it I'm thinking about rooting my device and uninstalling Beats with Titanium just to test it out. Thanks guys!
I'm pretty sure I saw another thread about this. As you may already know, Beats is just a bass heavy EQ setting.
I don't know why certain DSP programs don't seem to have any effect on this phone. The only consensus I've seen if that apps like PowerAmp work the best for actually tweaking the EQ.
IDK why lots of people diss on Beats Audio on their phone. I've tried most of these eq apps and Beats gives me the best sounding music through my ear buds than any other. JMHO

I've been using Poweramp for a couple years and I love it. The options and the equalizer are outstanding. I was just comparing it with Beats and there is no comparison in my opinion. I am not sure what Beats does. A t-mobile sales guy told me it decompresses the sound file. Whatever it is I am not impressed and it seems like marketing hype to me. I would prefer to remove it. I just signed with t-mobile and I am checking out the service and the phone so I am not ready to root or flash. I have not even seen a way to disable beats.
It's easy to disable. Plug in a headset, go to Sound and there you have an option for Beats. On German One S it's name is: Klangverbesserung. I don't know the english name.

BEATS
beats is the most powerful tool to optimize the music.. works with my gaming Headset and Bose in Ear.. Top Sound..
I just traded a watch for some beats headphones (studios) and realized the integrated beats thingy has no affect one beats headphones. If you shut it off the headphones automatically adjust back to "beats" performance. Idk what this concludes but thought I would share.

From my experience, Beats boosts both treble and bass, thus making it sound richer. It is disabled by going to Settings>Sound>Sound Enhancer. Just click 'no enhancements'. Headphone must be plugged in to do so. I leave it enabled in combination with PowerAmp for pretty good quality. Still not as good without DSPManager :'(
Started to use Poweramp before DSP was invented The EQ is doing a good job and for the most time i like the sound of it. In the first days of DSP I uninstalled it because it drained to much battery.
Beats is also nice, but i don't like that it turns on for every sound the phone does.
So i am finaly back to deinstalled DSP & Beats and using Poweramp only =)
