Hmm, weird. I can download it off the market on my N1 just fine.
Lemme know if that link the other gentleman provided doesn't work, ill try to up it to my DropBox.
google is aware of the problem. its only the att versions that are having issues seeing all of the apps in the market
Isn't ATT 'controlling' certain things about the market? Maybe that's why it's not showing on your ATT N1?
i think they may be because i read somewhere that if i put a t mobile sim in the phone i wouldnt have a problem. hell i dunno.
I don't have these issues with my N1 on ATT. *shrug*
having the same problem with ATT N1 missing Market apps. Attached is a newer version of Where app, 1.88, i think. 1.90 is newest, but can't grab. would appreciate if someone could UL the latest.
I emailed with Tech Support at Where. They said there was a contract issue with AT&T. Appears that if you want where, you have to pay AT&T each month and have one of the approved where handsets.
Could someone that has access to a newer version of Where 1.9 post either a download link or attach the file here in the forum.
We ATT folks would much appreciate it.
Thank you

Do you have a specfic source since I see you are on ATT as well?
Well, screw ATT. I was looking for an app like this just yesterday and nothing looked good so I decided to stick to google maps. Are there any other known apps that ATT is screwing us on?

Thank You Very Much! For Some Reason My Boost Mobile Motorola i1 can't access some of these apps on the Market. My assumptions it's because it runing on Android 1.5. Hopefully they will release an update soon considering 3.0 is rumored to be released soon.

You guys really find the app that useful?
The only useful stuff I found it did, Google local search already does.
Any who, here is Where 1.9.6
Where is the only app I've seen that gives a decent listing of gas prices nearby, anyone have any better suggestions?
I'd be happy to take back the 5-6M of storage it takes up..... Yikes.
Zipcar
It is also the only zipcar app for android.
If you use AppBrain and the new fast web install they have, you can install it from the AppBrain website. It still won't show up in the market for updates, but you can probably get it updated the same way.
Has anyone heard any new news on the possibility of a Netflix app that streams video on Android? I don't know about you guys but I really really want it! Are there still issues with security and whatnot?
Just curious if anyone has heard anything. They need to get this done!
Still just hearing more about security crap..

Ya, started watching Scrubs from the beginning last night and it'd be awesome if I could pick up where I left off and watch it on breaks and lunch on my phone while I'm at work. Could kill like a season a day lol
I'm assuming this will be a super noob question as no one ever asks but going to ask anyway.
Why is the Hulu fix/hack/edit any diff than this? So long as we can fool a browser into think it's a full desktop, why couldn't we stream through that instead of depending on an app to do it? #flamejacketon

I can't give a definite answer but I would assume that any content would run smoother/better through the app then a hacked browser.

this.
Besides, this same thread has been posted countless times, a simple search would've shown that. We are waiting for it to be released by Netflix, as our processor has the necessary security needed for the app to be released.
I do believe though, that we will have to wait until the LG Revolution is released to the public before we can get the app, as I suspect LG and Netflix have an exclusivity deal going, so LG can sell some phones.
Then again, I may be and have been wrong.

I had noticed the last flick I streamed on my laptop used Silverlight, (as far as I knew that was new) but definitely makes sense. Flash is hackable, SL is not.. Got it, thanks.

Netflix on android won't be using silverlight though. It could use Moonlight http://www.mono-project.com/Moonlight, but support for that on linux is far worse than flash and would probably be even more of a battery killer, so I'm guessing they will port whatever they use for iOS on the iphone/ipad to android.
There's no way the iphone version of netflix (which has been out for a while) uses silverlight (jobs would never allow that), so I am guessing they will probably just use the same libraries for android that they have for iOS and create a wrapper around that with java to create an executable.

Netflix has always used silverlight, at least as far as I have known. And yareally
is probably right about how they are going to go about it.
The main reason why Winmo 7 had/has so fast netflix is because of silverlight and the native ability (I believe) for it to run on winmo.
Just thought I'd share some news I saw this morning:
Hulu Plus for Android
Hopefully, we will see the Thunderbolt added to the compatibility list... or maybe a Dev will take a look at it.
+1, I have a HULU subscription and not a Netflix. I have been waiting for this and of course the T-Bolt is not supported but My X that i sold. "sigh"...Please HULU or devs....make this work, i will be forever greatful.
Has anybody tried to download the apk and install it on the Thunderbolt? Is it the same error we originally had with Netflix? (Unsupported device)

I did install it and that is basically the error that I received.
Could someone explain in terms if hulu and netflix, what makes one device compatible and another not. I mean the tbolt should be better in every aspect than the droid x (hence my upgrade) yet it works on that device. Someone mentioned that it works on the HTC inspire. How is that different than the tbolt?
Just hack flash and run it in the browser, works just fine there

The app checks the phone model and refuses to run if it isn't on the built in whitelist. I am sure there will be a patched .apk with the device check removed soon.

That sucks even more. I thought there was some real technical hardware or software reason but thats just plain model discrimination.
Wonder how HULU decides on this wish list
Thats what I dont understand... Isnt the HTC thunderbolt and HTC Inspire have the same specs besides the Network bands... Why release for the Inspire and not the thunderbolt??
how do you guys have netflix? is it from GB?
Hulu Plus appears to be available for Froyo phones, good for many of us (Inspire and Atrix I know are both on Froyo)
One would think someone will hack it just like Netflix. Who knows how these companies are deciding what devices to support but it's frustrating!
There has been a hulu hack out for a while now. I have been running hulu since the hack like 2 months ago. If you are rooted you can use hulu

Smh getting so sick of android man
You could probably edit the build.prop so that your phone identifies itself as one of the supported phones to get it to work. I don't have a hulu plus account and frankly i don't care enough to test

After reading through someone's logcat while running hulu plus, it only seems not to work because it's sniffing your phone type. Just need to edit the app to not detect it or as mentioned already, change your build properties. I dont have hulu+ so can't really find the solution easily myself.

Coming from wp7, android fragmentation can definitely be frustrating. Seeing other devices run something you can't is just part of android I guess. Not to mention that some games won't ever come to the bolt either.

does anyone know how to root this device, and or have any custom roms for this?

It just went on sale today so it's a bit early for custom ROMs to show up, but I'm sure they will.

Does it have official Google Market support? The website implies that it does but doesn't say for sure.
What are the prospects for an Ice Cream Sandwich firmware when it's released?

Seeing as how I manage the Airpad program at X10 I'm hardly impartial. Hopefully someone else can reply too. But about the stock -- We have 3 shipments arriving this week and next week.
Its a shame i don't see anyone trying to port CM7 to this.
I would buy it for sure then

Airpad questions
Does anyne know if the mini-usb is really an On The
Go compatible port, meaning it can act as either client
or host usb port? I have an OTG mini m to a f adapter.
Does it auto recognize it or does it need an app like
the NOOK color?
How does it handle USB host port (a f) flash drive
mount / dismount? Is there built in support or do
you need to issue the commands from an ADB shell
or a terminal shell?
I'm interested in being able to backup all the
partitions (regions), would I just do DD's for each
/dev or is there a tool / app to do that? Something
like clockworkmod recovery's nAndroid backup
/ restore functionality?
Does it boot from the microSDHC like the NOOK
color?
thanks
Kev.. I have a very important customer who fell in love with the Airpad 7 and wanted all his field inspectors to have one. He also ask me to custom develop an app he needs in the field. ALthough I have been a software developer for over 30 years, I have never develop for a device like Airpad. Is there a resource you can point me to for developers? TIA..

If it's already rooted, why doesn't Titanium Backup work? It displays a message that it could not acquire root privileges.
Attempts to use su from a terminal screen yields a message that says that UID 10067 not allowed to su.
So, is it rooted or not?

NO ANDROID MARKET but not horrible
Overall the tablet is pretty good for the price. Just picked one up and am posting from it now. I am VERY disappointed in the lack of the android market and i hate the amazon app store. Limited selection and emails me for every free download because it is a "purchase"(lame).
Good little ereader and web browser. Much more useful with the apps i copied from my other android devices using root explorer. Battery life could be better but as an appliance around the house, we are always close to an outlet so it isnt a concern for how we are using it.
The gTablet with CM7 is still my primary tablet for on the go. It is heavier and more cumbersome than the airpad but having my google services is more important on the go.
I will primarily be using this tablet for my home automation controller, at least until cm# is ported or they give me android market access
Hi Kevin. Quick question on airpad. I'm in BC Canada and can't get amazon.com on this device and I also can't get access to the android market. All I want is access to a netflix app for streaming to my TV. I managed to download the slideme app store but they don't carry netflix. Any ideas? Thanks rgk123
My company is rolling out an app soon, and the software vendor gave us this info (see pic) as requirements. How do I determine what devices this thing should run on based on the info in this pic?
Thanks for any insight. I promised my IT buddy I'd ask here. The end result is that we want to know what devices can run our app.
Duely blundered from my thunderdolt.
Well judging by the everything there, almost any android device should be able to run it.

Almost any, but the api level listed appears to be for android 2.0 and above so early androids with 1.6 won't run the app.
But anything with gps and a touchscreen that is running at least android 2.0 will run it so that is still most phones and tablets.

See the thing that seems odd, is that it requires a camera. But, the app has nothing to do with anything a camera is used for. Or maybe I'm reading into it too much.
So, when this app is on the android market, will everybody be able to see and download it, even if they don't meet the requirements?
For instance, I tried to download dead trigger on my htc thunderbolt, but it said on google play that my device was incompatible. Would somebody with an older tablet that has no camera (front or rear) have the same thing happen?

If a device does not meet the requirements for an app, it will not show for it on the market (natively). The only other ways would be by using market enabler, build.prop tweaks, or viewing the account's download history (the app may have been installed on a compatible device using that account).
