WHOA!!! Thanks for the heads up!!!!!

LOL @ phinnaeus

lol, yeah I tested this out the other night, it's pretty good. I don't know if it works with 4G yet though.

Is there any way that these tools can use the Access point mode rather than the AdHoc mode? I don't know much about how they are constructed, but my work computer doesn't allow Adhoc connections. Or is there another workaround I am not aware of?
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

[Q] XDApp Lite

Who here has the XDApp lite working?
I have it cooked into my ROM and it will never work, ever. It tries to connect, gives it three attempts and quits. I'm envious to all Android OS owners who have it up and running on their devices.
Does anyone have it working on their windows mobile phones and if so have a .cab file? Or even a fix? Any help or advice is appreciated

Two things:
1.) Yes I am using the default skin. Do you know where to find other ones?
2.) When I find said skins how can I change it? Because I don't know where to find my data for that app, because as I said, it's cooked into the ROM.

no not on your phone im talking about on your computer scroll all the way down to the bottom of the screen & on the left hand side should be a drop down menu click on it and it should say Quick Style Chooser with 2 skins to chose from 1 being the default skin & the other being the beta skin make sure you are using the default skin then on your phone try to login again to see if it works this worked for me
Nothing, I tried twice. I don't know what could possibly be the problem. I'm going to try to change the layout on my cellphone to see if that might fix it.

Okay so that would make sense as to why that works for you. I'm going to try changing it on my phone, and if still nothing do you think disconnecting my data and using wifi would work?

Maybe someone else can pick up on this project and make it more user friendly haha I have no programming skills seeing as I'm 17 and the only C++ I know was a 10 year old curriculum I took in high school last year So I can't...but it'd be nice to see someone else take this up and make it better than it already is

So I should be able to just plug the phone in and tether away? Sorry, I am new to this, and have never tethered before. I have CoNcast, but it would be nice to be able to take my laptop with me, and use it while out and about.
Does the tethering option have the built-in wpa2 encryption? As I am assuming that is a security thing - again new to all this.

If you use wifi-tethering, then you might not even need to plug in... the only reason to plug in would be to feed your phone power, rather than depleting it uber fast while tethering.
wired-tethering (the other kind) is also built in, but I can't tell you how to do it. I always use wifi (so I can "enable" multiple devices simultaneously)

Ohhh, Ok - so I don't have to plug it in - I thought I had to. So I should be able to just (for example) take it to the park on my lunch break, and be able to set the phone next to my laptop and get connected...?
Sorry for all the questions, just curious how this works - as I'd like to take advantage of it. Thx!

Wireless tether for NS4G
I just rooted my wife's and her mom's NS4G that i got them, installed wireless tether app just like i did on my evo, but the NS4G will only let me setup a ad-hoc connection, no option for wpa2 setup?
any Thoughts on what i'm doing wrong?
Reviving a thread from December lol
With the wireless tether app ad-hoc is the only method supported on the nexus s. It does not do infrastructure mode like your EVO did. If you use the native tethering app it will work in infrastructure mode it will not work with 4g though only 3g.

Download the "tethering fix for Android 2.3.5 ROMs" onto the phone and flash via clockwork recovery. This will enable the built in tethering app (accessible from settings>tethering and portable hotspot) which will allow infrastructure mode.
Hope I helped

[Q] Hiding WiFi HotSpot on Nexus 5

Hey there,
First, let me say thank you for everyone that has helped me in the past, this is a great community full of very knowledgeable people.
Does anyone know of a way (or an app) that will hide my WiFi connection so no one can see it? I use it at work, and we aren't supposed to hook up to our own internet, we are supposed to use the public WiFi (no way in hell I'm doing that) with my tablet.
I searched a bit but can't seem to find anything as such.
Thank you

Nah, just hide it from anyone at work that scans and looks for WiFi to connect to... I of course have it locked so they cannot connect, but I don't want them to see it show up in their available list at all.

I don't know of a hack or app that would disable the broadcast of your hotspot's SSID. I think, however, that some carriers offer software that facilitates creating the hotspot and which can hide it.

I researched this extensively (for the same reasons) and found nothing....sort of. Essentially, if you're going to connect to a hidden SSID, the machine (laptop for me, tablet for you) that wants to connect has to be looking for SSID constantly, which isn't secure. That and I literally found no way of hiding my SSID.
So I thought about it...and I remembered there was an old wireless network on my campus that most people used, but the company changed proxies/routers/everything, so the SSID was 'retired.' My wifi hotspot SSID went from "suck it" to "My-Workplace-b" since that's the naming convention that was used.
This is nice since it's not nearly as suspicious, but more importantly....most everyone around me had certain proxies and protocols set up so that they could connect to that "xx-b" SSID. Those assorted proxy settings now prohibit them from connecting to my phone wifi
tl:dr: I was disappointed I couldn't hide my SSID, learned I didn't want to hide my SSID for security reasons, but then got creative and feel good about the situation.
Hope this helps somehow. Anybody that knows how to right-click will be able to see your nexus isn't a company router, but hopefully they're not that ambitious.
edit: PS: I USB tether extensively. Way less power consuming than wifi tethering (and stealthier). Maybe can't do that with your tablet...but a thought.
A WLAN will always be visible if you create one, all you can do it obscure the SSID by typing spaces and saving. However, then you'll need to go into advanced settings of the client device and enable connections without SSID's. In Windows 7 it's under "wlanSSID' Properties->Connections Tab->Connect even if the network is not broadcasting its name (SSID).

[Q] WiFi Tether from Nexus 5 to PS3 problems

Hey guys. Can some one please tell me what i should do on my Nexus to get it to connect to the PS3?
So I've scoured the forums looking for my exact problem but to no avail. I am trying to connect my wifi hotspot to my ps3 to watch netflix basically. I can get the wifi connected from phone to computer with no problem (thats what im using now). However, when i scan my PS3 for wifi signals, the only thing thats comes up are the usual wifi signals from the neioghbors. I've tried all the settings i can find on the web but nothing works, like changing device info to Optimus 2 and softap. I'm using a rooted Nexus with the Wifi tether app. under Settings, Change device, i dont see my phone make or madel. Maybe that has something to do with it. I have no idea... Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Sincerely,
A guy who just wants to watch netflix on his stupid ps3

Your post is a little jumbled, but it seems like you're asking if your PC can receive a wifi signal even if it doesn't have built-in wifi. The answer is simply no. You can go to the store and snag a little wifi dongle or something like that and install the software to make it pick up a signal, but as is... it's not gonna pick up anything. Hope that helps.
