seen a lot of people asking how to disable the clouds animation on the homescreen, and some solutions were to install other 3rd party stuff or registry edit, but i discovered last night that you dont need to do any of the sort, just read below!
Simple, just use the animated wallpaper option and browse your SD card and use any wallpaper... no more annoying-at-times clouds, but you can still have the weather
sorry if this was posted before, but i never came across this solution anywhere online... only discovered last night after accidentally choosing animated instead of weather
tks for sharing
So, I'm not very happy with the wallpaper options in this phone. I understand that, it's more of HTC Sense setting, but it doesn't let me choose home or lock screen. Plus, when I choose a picture from my gallery to use as a wallpaper, the weird crop square shows up and doesn't let me use the whole picture. What's up with that? Am I missing something? What do other people think?
The wall paper is ok but, I went to the market and downloaded city at night wallpaper and its a lot better for my tastes.

You should use 960x800 sized wallpapers. You can't select the whole picture because your iPhone wallpapers or whatever are the wrong aspect. There are some good downloadable wallpapers in the HTC Hub and there are a million wallpaper apps in the market.
Your wallpaper is scrolling as you swipe left and right to different screens, that's why it's square. I just use 1920X1080 wallpapers and they look fine.
Does anybody know an app that lets you place a text on your screen? I want to have each screen contain certain apps and I want to place label on top that says what category that screen is. I've found Text Widget which looks nice but it only lets me place one widget.
Zoom, by the same guys that do Tasker, will allow you to do text on a widget. They can be of different sizes and way pretty much anything you want. And, as an added benefit, you can have it do certain things (anything Tasker is capable of) whenever you tap on it. I have one, for example, that shows my battery level, day, date, and time. Tapping on different parts of it does different things.
If it is an android then use the multipicture live wallpaper and create a wallpaper for each screen.

but if he moves something on the screen, he will have to remake the wallpaper, put it on the phone and set it back...
I played with an Acer at a local store and noticed that the various Home Screens have names, like "Entertainment", "Communication" etc (or something like this).
I'm wondering if it's possible to give each of the stock home screens a name so that I can organize apps into different categories. When scrolling from screen to screen the name would be displayed.
Any thoughts?
Thanks,
LongTrail.
the easiest way to do this would be to just use a custom widget maker (available on the market i believe) and just create a widget with the name of the category you want and put it on each homescreen. that would be the fastest way to accomplish this.
That would certainly work, many thanks for the suggestion.
There's an app Called desktop label I use, it might be what you need
i used an apps called Make Your Own Clock HD
it's free, and it got amazing feature to create custom text widget to do what u describe
minimal text
I did this on my Transformer. I used Minimal Text Widget to label each screen and then used multiple live wallpaper to give each screen a different set of wallpapers.
I have a home screen with weather/email info etc. and a link to browser.
A Tech screen with market and system stuff.
A Media screen with video/reading stuff.
and a Games screen with games.
I used desktop visualizer to make the icons on each screen look nice and folder organizer to make groups for games and emulators and such.
I can upload screens later but here is a link to something similar to what I am running except on the nook color.

Thanks Folks for all the help. I will take a look and see which idea gets me to where I want to be
Just installed a new ROM on my Infuse, except I'm having an issue with the wallpapers for the home/unlock screen. The ROM I like the best is missing the stock wallpapers that come with other ROMs, but I downloaded them off the internet, I believe they are full res. On other ROMs that incluse the stock wallpapers, I can go to the gallery view and browse through them. I put the downloaded stock wallpapers in a folder called Wallpapers on my Infuse's main storage, but when I went into the phone to set the wallpaper, they didn't show up in the nice gallery view, they appeared in a 'browsed' format. Then the phone wants me to resize them for the screen. Then, when they are set, they don't look so great (low res). Is there anyway I can restore the traditional gallery to get the wallpaper set right?
And one other thing. Is there currently any ROM where you will immediately get audio from the first call without having to toggle the speaker? Thanks.
