Porting HTC patches to Froyo 2.6.32.9 kernel - Desire Android Development

Hi,
I'm going to try an alternative approach to Richard's (excellent) kernel, by porting across the HTC patches to the 2.6.32.9 kernel.
I presume, first of all, that there is a Froyo branch of this kernel (although it doesn't seem to be public in GIT yet), though it would be useful if I could get hold of this as a starting point.
What source are people using as a baseline for the N1 kernel mods?
Help appreciated.
Thanks
Martin

[Q] Any word on 2.3.3 compatible kernels?

Just curious if anyone was working on one. I'm sure someone is but ya know... I'm all sortsa impatient. I have a feeling that a rom based on stock 2.3 with an optimized OC kernel will be smoother and faster than Cyanogen Mod based roms. I'm looking forward to finding out.
no because source has not been released

Compiling from source for Sensation (TMOUS)

Hello everyone,
I'm trying to compile my own source ROM for my Sensation 4g (TMOUS) My HBoot is 1.17.000 revolutionary unlocked. My compile from google source gingerbread 2.3.4 (to match version htc is using) went ok however with no lunch or envsetup option for the Sensation my full-user make showed compiling for generic. I have tried fastboot flashing my compiled userdata and system img files to my phone along with my default sense kernel (kernel from TMOUS rom 1.5 made from clockwork recovery) to find that it doesn't get past the white htc screen. I'm interested in compiling and sharing this ROM with the public however finding I'm a little lost on next steps.
In the court of public opinion, what would my next steps be? Is my lack of booting due to the sense kernel and instead should I try using a kernel like trinity cm7/asop kernel? Is my lack of booting even kernel related?
Any advice I would greatly appreciated and once I can get this thing running I will be glad to give credit where due and distribute any modified files. Also, if I run across any additional information that might help anyone I will update this post.
PS - I know ICS is out and it might seem odd to try with gingerbread to start (along with using 2.3.4 instead of 2.3.7) however my rationale is that by trying to stay as close to the gingerbread rom HTC provides version wise I might have the best shot at compatibility.
Thanks everyone.
Various ROM developers have IRC channels. It might be worthwhile trying and asking a developer on there, just don't bug them too much.

[Q] Including Custom Kernel

Earlier I started building a ROM for purely educational purposes. I built from 4.0.3 source and made some tweaks. Now I'm looking into baking a custom kernel into the ROM. Is there a generally accepted way to do this?

Not sure. You might try contacting krarvind (Slim ICS) who integrates Eugene373's kernel into his source code.

Patching BFS into the Android Kernel

Does anyone on here have sucsesfull getting BFS into the kernel and compiling? Ive tried many versions many ways and i just cant get the kernel compiling. Ive emailed many people i know have gotten BFS working but havent heard back. So im just hoping maybe someone on these boards has some experience and can help me out a little. Ive been trying to get my kernel out but i refuse to release it until i get BFS in it and its really holding me back.

Take a look here. There's patches for nearly all versions. I have used that in every kernel I included BFS in.
http://ck.kolivas.org/patches/bfs/
Have you used those to patch an Android specific kernel? Those are the patches im using but they are intended for the mainline kernel and none of them patch 100% clean but ive hand patched the problematic parts. The kernel version im using 2.6.32.9 which kolavis doesnt acually have a patch for im assuming becuase its not a mainline kernel version? Ive tried a few other 2.6.32 patches and ive trie bfs v311 v313 v404 and each have there own problems v313 will compile but i have to remove the mmc support for some reason.
If youve compiled an Android kernel with BFS i would love to know what kernel version and BFS version so maybe i can start some investigation.
Maybe someone knows what mainline kernel the android 2.6.32 kernel is forked from?

what actually happened???
Thanks in advance!
The rom used another kernel base...

Hi,
Can I install other kernel? If yes what kernel is the best fits my current rom? Thank you.
I do not know the nitty-gritty details of your device, so proceed with caution on your side...
As far as I know, you can use any kernel with any rom (unless the rom developer expressly mentions not to)...
As for the best kernel, there is nothing as best...its all trial and error...you will need to find the kernel+rom combination that suits your need...
