I'm starting this thread to figure out if I'm an isolated case or if this is a real Froyo problem.
Apparently you can't save images through the browser anymore. Well, you can, but they always save as 305x203 for some reason. It doesn't matter what site you download an image from either. I uploaded a 3000x2000 image to my own server, then tried downloading the image with the stock froyo browser, and it shows up in my gallery as a low resolution 305x203 image. Is anyone else experiencing this, or have a fix for it?
Really? Nobody else has this problem?
Same problem.
Has this issue not been resolved yet? Is there no way to download images from the browser in the size size they are displayed?
Apparently not.. I'm beginning to think it's more of a "feature" than an irritating bug. I originally noticed this bug in Oct 2010 with the JI6 2.2 leak. Imagine my surprise to see the same behavior 6 months later, in official 2.2.1 releases.
I just tried it with the official i9000 2.3.3 release's browser and it still has this same behavior to a certain degree. Very large images (2000x3000) are no longer saved as 203x305 or whatnot, but they still aren't saved in their full native resolution either.
Try Dolphin browser.
Ok, please excuse me for being facetious and not trying another browser but I guess it just didn't occur to me. Dolphin BrowserHD worked fine for downloading, my only complaint was the weird interface that I wasn't used to, but with this newfound knowledge I tried my Skyfire Browser which works great as well. Needless to say I'll be sticking with Skyfire for all my download needs; thanks for the suggestion much appreciated Studacris & Modest_mandroid thanks for being so responsive and quick.
You can get it here: ftp://ftp.opera.com/pub/opera/android/mobile/10.1/
Won't open for me. I installed it and whenever I try to open it, it says "Opera Mobile" and then it just closes. Doesn't say anything about a force close, just closes...
Update: uninstalled and reinstalled and this time did not move it to SD card. It works now but it is quite a large file. 21 mb installed on phone. I'll give it a try, though, and see if it is any better than opera mini (which I currently use).
What is supposed to make it better than opera mini, anyway?

Its their full browser experience
It's not what it used to be compared to the progress the native Android browser has become. When I was using wm 6+ it was the **** though.
astro?
used astro but it wont install
So far the browser has perfect for me in every way except there is no pinch to zoom. Hopefully this gets added quickly.
better link
pinch is working great. Turbo is fast. loaded engadget in under 4 sec
http://www.eurodroid.com/2010/11/android-opera-mobile-10-1-beta-available-now-via-operas-ftp-site/
It is available in the market now as well.
Flash doesn't work with it?
It looks like opera has their own version of the market. When I looked at one of the default links on the start page it brought a list of software. It is faster for me than the stock. I don't think it will do flash. I know the new skyfire beta will.
I really like Opera and Firefox BUT why is it that 3rd party browsers haven't gotten their "flash act" together yet? With a stock browser that works well PLUS has flash, I just find myself skipping over Opera Mini, Skyfire (the flash is great but the brower experience is lacking) and most recently, Firefox.
If they could just combine some of the basics (flash) of our native browser with their excellent browser experience, I think lots and lots of people would jump ship.
Thanks for the heads up post guys.
No flash = No go for me!!! I'll stick to either the stock browser or Dolphin HD (the tabbed browsing, themes and plug-ins available are awesome, btw!!!)
I tried it out. it stopped zooming in and out even if i force closed it and restarted it. Tried changing options and whatnot too. No go. So I just uninstalled it. My web browsing is too important not to be able to zoom and read stuff lol.
I know it's a beta though. Maybe the final product i'll give a go round.
Imma try the skyfire beta. I use dolphin HD for everythign right now and it's great.
Once the MIUI browser gets reflowing imma prolly use that for everything.
Just wondering if anyone has been able to get any comic readers to work. I've tried a couple, along with some .CBR files that I know work when on my desktop, but don't work on the TF so far, even with android reader.
Any advice or recommendations would be appreciated!
Perfect viewer
Perfect Viewer is great. It has quick menu overlays built in which make going between a entire folder very easy.
Free : acv (droid comic viewer), paid : comic reader mobi.
i use jj comic viewer. it seems better than the rest with cbr.
Perfect Reader is the BEST cbr reader out there.
I just read Dark Knight Returns and Strikes Again with Android Comic Viewer. Perfection!
I had issues and FCs with ACV. Perfect Viewer has been smooth sailing.
Perfect viewer and Komik are equally good imo. Have thrown quite a few at them and they have been excellent....
Perfect viewer is the best I have found. The others would often get memory errors, but not with PV.
Another vote for Perfect Viewer. I like ACV but it has problems handling cbr/cbz files above 20MB on the TF. It didn't have that problem on my N1 from what I can remember so it might be a Honeycomb-specific issue.
Thanks for all the suggestions!
Perfect Viewer was what I ended up with. Everything else was FC'ing with the particular comic I've been trying to view
Comic Reader Mobi... which started out as a Windows Mobile app, right here on XDA, long ago.
Now it has an Android port and allows network streaming... and is about it get a big overhaul/update to 3.0 in a few weeks.
Komik is just awesome and already optimized for HC! No problem with it so far.
Hadn't heard of Komik.. will try it out. Personally, huge fan of Perfect Viewer.. great app and very fast.
Komik Reader is just.. WOW. I've been using Perfect Viewer for about a month now, but I just tried Komik Reader and wow. It's more perfect than Perfect Viewer! LOL
Just downloaded Komik Reader, will give it a go at lunch time
I prefer JJ, it seems to load faster for me with no crashes.
Is anyone able to open .cbrs in filemanage? Or am I forced to open it in the app? Since I download my comics from my network map, I'm in filemanager always and it'd be nice to just launch a book from there.
I've tried the latest perfect player again for the last couple days, works well but the swipe to page flip is driving me nuts, anyone else finding it not responsive enough?
Will try Komik, never heard of it. So far JJ is the easiest to use and configure for me.
komik works beautifully. i even got the paid version, opens zip n rar files. love it
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using XDA Premium App
I keep having my browsers stop, they wont finish loading and then when I touch on the address search bar or refresh button on the screen I get the force close message. I'm having problems with the stock browser and also the dolphin hd browser too. It happens after about 10 minutes and I can't find any correlation with certain sites, it's just after a little time no matter what I'm looking at. I did a search and only came across someone saying they were having a problem but it was a xoom and they were also rooted. My transformer is all stock and only about a week old. Does anyone have any suggestions or anything? Besides that I love this thing. Thanks for the help.
some sites are inaccessible without crashing to the desktop. Web browsing is one of the major use cases for the transformer. It will be nice if this geta fixed.
Are you serious? I researched tide tablet for weeks before i decided on it. I knew about the cameras and taking videos not being good, I knee there was a chance for light bleed, and also that there were some problems with hd video playback sometimes. I hadn't read anything however on browsing problems. I tried Firefox and opera along with dolphin and they all stop and crash. I don't understand why someone didn't mention this in their reviews with it being a problem. I've had no problems with light bleed, video playback and the camera is fine for me, but the browsing problem would have dissuaded me from purchasing if I would have known. Is there no fixes at all?
The problem is java script, try to disable java

On Monday I'll have my Transformer for 2 weeks. I just started having browser crashes yesterday only after a couple of minutes of browsing. This has happened on yahoo & xda. At the time I was trying to copy & paste. What I don't understand is I wasn't having problems before.
Also, I am unable to do a search on XDA. The search & keyboard come up monetarily then close.
Are you guys running stock 3.1 honeycomb?

Yes, stock & not rooted
I never get force closing pop ups but everynow and then the browser just closes... but then it depends on the website
I;m running overclocked prime
Mine is just stock, I haven't rooted mine either. I can usually browse for 10 minutes or so before mine stops then force closes. It seems strange that it just started after 2 weeks for the one person. If the problem is Java and I turn it off won't that limit some of the sites? I hate to be limited on browsing, otherwise you might as well get a dang ipad. I hope we find a fix for this it's driving me crazy.
Stock, 3.1 not rooted. The crashing is site specific. It happens with Dolphin as well. Xscope will handle the site, but it has other usability issues (like no zoom) . Do other tablets (zoom, tab 10.1,etc) have these issues? I love paying to be a beta tester.
Same problem here, browser crashes on certain webpages without a warning, switching java off solves the problem but this shouldn't be a solution
Turning off Java Script does indeed help a lot it seems - faster loading and far less crashes. As a web technology noob what do I lose w/o Java script? I browse mostly news/science/tech blogs and forums. Not to many interactive (save Facebook of course).
Any good tips on what losing JV scrips limits?
Thanks!
This has been discussed before Its a known issues (at least to us that have them) and its pretty annoying to say the least. Turning off javascript helps in two different ways (stops crashes and speeds up browsing), but some pages wont display correctly without it.
i resolved crashes with "adfree"
I've never seen my browser as prone to crash or sluggish on the transformer. The only thing I configured is to start plugins on click only (like poor man flashblock - but I prefer it this way on my desktop Chrome too). Running stock 3.1.
i wwill try the adfree and I will post my results.
I've had my Transformer for about three weeks and besides slowing down quite a bit the stock browser and Dolphin have been crashing regularly as of last week. I'm running stock 3.1 - not rooted or anything. It's gotten bad enough that I've basically stopped using it and am using my Acer W500 and iPad. I can put up with some problems in a new unit but if I had known that Honeycomb was as buggy as it seems to be so far I probably would not have purchased this.
i got mine last week, the default browser performance is unacceptable. It just crashes without any warning. Clicking comboboxes , checkboxes and even links in some cases is far too difficult to get right with one go, there are instances where you simply cant do it at all , even after zooming all the way in. Turning off JavaScript is not an option for me, there are simply too many sites using JavaScript for their manus n stuff. Now using dolphin browser, seemsmuch better, but still unreble.I am a huge android supporter, i have a galaxy s and i love it. But recently i compared this against an ipad 2, i hate to say this but with current firmware (3.1 stock, not rooted) this tablet is far inferior to the ipad when it comes to web browsing. I hate apple products, but at this point id rather have an ipad, over this

Browser Cache
I cleared my browser cache and this seemed to fix it. can someone test and post results?
So. Every time I've clicked on a pdf link in Chrome, it downloads it and asks what app I want to open it with. For some reason now Chrome will try and open the pdf I click on. It won't open it and it also won't download the pdf either. It says error while downloading. This is really detrimental to getting my school work done. It's like the Chrome pdf viewer built in its trying to open it, but it won't. This has always worked before. What the h? Running a Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 with newest Chrome. Have tried uninstalling updates and removing pdf reader to no avail. Stock rom. Thanks. I'll pay cash money for halp

Fast solution: Use Opera (mini) for the moment to download/open your needed .pdf files. Opera will work even other browsers refuse open the files. Problem is known to Samsung Tabs with TouchWiz but not specified. Issues had began with a recent update of your Android/Browser i suppose. I wonder if its caused by "nothing".
Have you tried deleting chrome appdata/cache/settings/dalvik?
It works via firefox. I just wonder why this just started happening in chrome. Bs.
