Ok, here we go. I´m considering 2 phones as my new beetle -
1) LG Viewty smart
2) Sony ericsson xperia x10 MINI
Of course LG Viewty smart is better..in fact completely higher league in most things that are required for me like battery life, camera, video, SMS writing, user friendly enviroment, etc. but I have temptation to try something new = android system on this small phone. The main reason why I hesitate is that I REQUIRE of my phone to let me change its UI completely.
So the question pops-up: Can I change themes / UI in android powered cellphones easily or with some simple handed modification?
I´ll give you an example: now I have LG Viewty ( KU990 ). Its enviroment is completely made of java so with basic firmware modification ( EFS Tool, "TOTO" system, one of tons themes for this cell and you are done in 5 minutes ) you can make the whole UI / theme looks like HTC Hero/Touch diamond/iphone/etc., etc. instead of ugly default one. I´m curently using HTC Hero theme ( tried to put link but forum refuses to let me do that so google it: viewty gate by adc, joseph earl, htc hero. ). Now you see how easy it is to change theme on LG phones using java enviroment.
So can anyone please tell me if I would be able in some near future to change sony ericssons xperia x10 mini REALLY UGLY, AWFUL, REPULSIVE UI to something decent? Is android user friendly enough to let community do this? I´m asking here because where is better place to ask than here?
I´m completely new in tasks about android so if it´s silly question for you keep in mind that I´m not familiar with it at all and if you answer to question "NO, you can´t change theme / UI in android" this system will remain unknown for me till death most probably ( 99.9% chance ).
So thx in advance for respond.

Hi
I am Very New to this Stuff , i have an Old Mag . Imate JAM
i upgraded it it work work like a charm , i have few questions , hope you developer will answer it , i am seeing that only Cotulla is RELEASINg new roms so i have added his name in POST Title ,
I have a Tornado Already , (smartphone with by default wm5)
i upgraded to that one , and that non touchscreen mobile have HTC Home Screens , and Sliding Panel and Sliding Panel Media etc .
even the same sort WIZARD have roms like htc touch ,
than why We Dont have these functionalities in our MAG
is there any software or hardware resitractions involved , ?
i was just much curious about this , so i am asking This .
Hope the devolpers and Cotulla will not mind to answer it
Thanks
HTC Home (and the rest) are additions to the ROM, you can search for them here in the forum and you' probably find them all (or some alternatives). As an example, I'm running HTC Home on my Jam with no issues.
I think that Cotulla is trying to keep the ROMs are small and streamed as possible to offer only the basic functionality (this is great for devices with smaller RAMs, such as mine).
You can install HTC Home yourself,Cotulla only want to make clean ROMs,because someone would like HTC Home but someone wouldn't.
Too many additions will slow down your device and drain more power.
Ok , Got The answer , Thanks for It .
Any Short and easy method for Installing HTC HOME
thanks

Thanks for The Link
Its working but my device is bit slow
but any link for
sliding panel
i wanna try this
I'm sorry but I just have to respond on this. Cottulla makes a small OS for the Magician on purpose, like xiaojin1985 said. And after installing the Home you say your device is slowing down... of course it is! Old device with new memory draining features will slow down your device. Plz remind to read .
^^^
I am 100% agree with you as now i have test it myself .
But
i have seen how much Slow the magician become after installing HTC HOME ,
but maybe i can afford that slowness if the sliding panel will work on magician as i love them.
so as i said
is there any chance for sliding panel plugins
thanks
(sorry for bad English)
...and by good, I mean not the awful paid version of that famous studio that we have for now. It's slow, buggy and awfully expensive for what it is.
My girlfriend used to play on her WinMo6.5 HTC TOuch2 a great freeware game called "PocketUno". Fast, simple but classy looking and filled with options. Everything that we can't have on Android...
So my question is : what are my alternatives ?
I already considered developing an app for her but it would be my first and I doubt I can achieve that in a week-end !
Is there a way to find a Java version (paid or not) that would fit the Magic's resolution (480*320) and its touch interface ?
Could a port from the PocketUno .cab file be possible in any way (it would remain a private port though as I didn't ask the original developer permission to do anything more than that) ? I doubt it but who knows (like in "Uno's"...hem, sorry).
Thanks in advance !
So it looks like I'm going to have to do it myself...
Hey chapps,
Here's the thing, just post the best/top ranking phones of your choice (they have to be Smarthpones that run the Android OS!).You can name/list as many phones you like (but i would really appreciate it if the list was between 5 and 10) and that's it.And remember to number your choices/list where 1 would be your preferred choice ,and an explanation isn't necessary but i wouldn't mind (keep it short )
Kinda to long to explain why i'm asking this,so i'll be brief,it's for a Uni survey and report.
i didn't really know where to put this,so i hope this is the right subforum
Oh and TNX

My first an only Android Phone ist the HTC HD2 flashed with boyppc-shiftpda go EX ROM and I'm content with it!
Hello guys,
as you probably know, there were many projects to port an android Rom into the wonderful Samsung Focus device.
This morning, I was browsing google to find some news about it and BANG, I found an eHow page from November 15th 2011 telling me how to do it. I remained sort of sceptical about it and I wanted your opinions. As far as I read, it seems to be an HTC rom ported to WP7.
So Ill let you check the web page, right there: http://www.ehow.com/how_12191756_run-android-samsung-focus.html
Does it sound fake to you? Is it safe to try it?
BTW, has anyone successfully ported android with MAGDLR on the Focus?
Thank you very much!
Sorry for my bad english.
Alpha4345 out.
??!!
anybody please confirm working or no please!!
Haret is for OLD windows mobile
The Samsung Focus runs Windows Phone 7.x, which is NOT windows mobile. Haret runs on windows mobile. This trick won't work. The SD card is protected by the operating system when you install it, and will become an integral part of your phone, and you can't even access it from your computer.:crying:
You might be interested in this from the dev section as far as HARET is concerned with WP7 :

Having recently bought an Android device to play with, I have to ask: why in the HELL would you switch a WP7 device to Android? Sure, it's more customizable and has more apps, but it's a hell of a lot slower and the UI is an antiquated joke.
Well I find it funny when people ask questions like this , especially on a DEVELOPERS FORUM ! Why would someone want to put a chevy engine in a Toyota , because they can (with modifications) , its not about how fast the "fart app" or Face Book runs , that crap doesnt matter to devs , its whether or not it will work that matters and if it will ,what other possibilities are there (that means Microsoft left some backdoors open) , pretty promising stuff , maybe not feasable to the average user but to a tinkerer or maker its alot!

I can relate to the "challenge" aspect--used to do it all the time years ago. Now I just don't give a rat's ass
Hi to all , i'm new on the site coz i would like to ask you a question and help that i couldnt find on any sites....
Sorry for my poor english and thanks to read me
I love so much my tablet (me301t) but the battery smelts like ice in front of sun ... i saw on htc one site that the nvcplsvc.apk is responsive of the tegra3 gesture and battery.. ok ... i have it in system/app but in rootunisnstaller application when i click on nvcplsvc its tell me the application is not installed anymore ( all others are ok) . I noticed that there is not odex file anymore....
So i would like to know if you have the same problem or if i made a mistake?
if all is ok for you, can a big hearted geek put these files online? (Asus signed)
(nvcplsvc.apk / nvcplsvc.odex )
Or did i miss something.......?
Thank u very much
