Pleased Do not get the RUU from either sprint or htc as this has been updated to the new version, if you do you will most likely lose root
Android info on rom
ModelID: HERO20000
CIDNUM: SPCS_001
MainVer: 2.27.651.6
I just extracted it for my self and it is confirmed they did update there releases with out changing the info on the sites.....
For anyone interested in the original RUU 2.27.651.5
I have posted here for your convience
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=ZECABKEU
nice catch.
I was just reading the root 2.1, and I was currently Downloading the ruu. THANK YOU!

well wish I could of caught it quicker, as a few have already fell victim to this.
I unfortunately just ran the RUU from HTC's site b/c I swapped my phone to a different number and it wouldn't update my data profile on the custom Fresh rom I was running... My build says 2.27.651.5...
then I noticed a small update available (updating it to 2.27.651.6)
I've been running a custom rom since rooting the 1.5 rom; anyone know if I should be able to root the earlier release (2.27.651.5?) or is that a no go too? Just curious?
EDIT: Nevermind... I jst saw my answer in the other thread
ahh tricky tricky
On the other hand if this has the same fix from the EVO that fixes the cannot write to SDCard problem that I have had since day 1, I would love to have that part patched into one of the current ROMs.
What is the link or is it OTA only for this new patch?

Yeah, I couldn't do it either, when I swapped numbers, so I made a nandroid backup, I nandroid restored back to the original stock 1.5, and did a profile refresh. Data came back, then I restored my Fresh 2.1.1 and all was well with the world.

The OTA patch for the EVO closes the hole for obtaining root as well as the SD card fix. Wait for someone to come out with just the sd fix.

I think someone said you can flash the .5 version over the .6 and root again.
Is this the update that came out today? So if we download this we will not be able to root?

I was able to flash .5 over .6, and run the unrEVOked root exploit posted here.
I just about had a heart attach when I saw .6 on my phone, the .exe RUU said .5, damn sneaky sprint =D. If i wasn't trying to do 10 things at once today it wouldn't have happened, i'm just thrilled I was able to back out of it.
=D
Rumor on the EVO side says you can still run the exploit after the update gets rid of Root. Can someone here take the plunge and confirm?

I can confirm that the root exploit does NOT work on .6
The filename says .5, but upon loading the RUU, it identifies itself as .6. Sneaky bastards indeed.
I also can confirm that you can flash the .5 release over top of the .6 update, then reroot.

Also, to be clear, the update from HTC USA's website is still legit (Says .5, and it IS .5)

You can flash the .5 OVER the .6? that's odd, because it would fail the "MainVer" check... unless the MainVer in the android-info.txt file says .5
I'm also posting a few links in the rooting guide for the .5 RUU

Ok, this worked for me as of 10/20/10, i had my phone rooted by unrevoked, I am like many of the people here who kept having issues with all the PC36IMG.zip not working. I have extracted a new PC36IMG.zip from the ruu's and have not had any issues. I also had the dreaded "main version is older" issue. This seemed to take care of the issue! Im now back to stock!
Step 1 you will need to go here:
http://downloads.unrevoked.com/forever/current/unrevoked-forever-son.zip
If you used Unrevoked Forever at any time, flash unrevoked-forever-son.zip from recovery until hboot shows S-ON(Credit to djR3Z tut)
Step 2
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=108Z9R8Y
This is the PC36IMG.zip file that you will need
- Put this on the root of your sdcard
- Boot into hboot and let it load up the PC36IMG.zip
- It will run like a normal update
- Reboot when finished
- It will do a few other things (Load radio and update)
- After it fully loads you should be back to complete stock!!!!
Lemme know if this doesn't work for you
LIKE I SAID THIS WORKED AS OF 10/20/2010!!!
I am not responsible for damages to your phone! You chose to go the route you did, so face the consequences, I'm just posting what has worked for me, so use at your own risk! Love the android, love my evo!
Has been tested and works if you have a rooted via unrevoked method.
So can I update my evo ota to 3.29.651.5 and then follow these steps? Right now I have the stock 3.26.651.6 rooted with unrevoked3. TIA

Im not understanding? If you apply just the PC36IMG you should at least lose root and be updated to latest update. You have to run the first tool to relock the bootloader. You will see in hboot if it is locked or unlocked. Locked is s- on unlocked is s- off
My bad, I was wanting to root or better yet, update to 29 and then root.

yes you can achieve root on the new update through unrevoked. I'm not a fan of rooting this way, as people have had lots of trouble unrooting (had this problem myself). Thats why I came up with this tut so you can unroot if you have to send back to sprint. my method was the only one that worked for me to get unrooted.
people...just use unrevoked 3...i mean its a one click process...u dont have to do anything after that in about 2 minutes your rooted and nand unlocked =P

Just flash a ROM that's based on the 3.29 update.
Well hopefully this works. I'm not going to root with unrevoked again I don't think. It was much easier for me to unroot my last phone w/o using unrevoked.
Nope, as of 1/19/11 this does not work.
Will this work if I didn't use unrevoked? I am currently having an issue where my usb/charging port is not working properly and can not connect to the computer. I am rooted but need to unroot so I can send my phone back.

I did the OTA update this morning on a different Desire (from rooted 2.1) and the file it downloaded has a different ending number, I wonder if it matters, I saved the file to my laptop. The "Pf7sjzjrgcmpsve12" is what of concern, would that work on any other Desires?
Nevermind, I think they're the same number.
i would like if there was a RUU for this. Is there a way to make an RUU out of the files it has so i can do a clean install and wipe my desire? by the way how did you find that link off the htc website for the update?
Since I have a backup of 2.1 just after I rooted, I should be able to install that then use this zip correct? What radio version is included?
Here is a link to the RUU named properly that I used to fix a non-bootable phone.

Logged into an At&T wifi yesterday and the phone offered an HTC system "update".
Having owned several HTC products and never seeing any sort of update from them for a device I owned, Ill admit i was a bit shocked. lol
Downloaded for a few mins, although I didnt see a file size.
Reboots, resets twice then boots. Both my Inspires updated to
Software Version
1.84.502.11
took about 5 mins total
Sorry If this was somewhere else, I searched and didn't see anything.
What'd they do to my phones?

Anyone get it to install with root? I just don't want it to screw up my root where i'd have to do it again.
The OTA update is mostly a collection of patches. These are very specific as to the files they are to patch. If you don't have the official AT&T ROM (or a very close approximation) then the update won't do anything.
there is the full ATT rom with the included patches and fixes and stuff in the development section. just dl the rom and flash it since you are already rooted
simple and stuff.
but also a lot of the newer roms are importing the fixes

How long does it take to install after downloading?
I'm going on about 10 minutes of the green arrows on the black screen with the phone image under it. Don't think it should take this long should it?

Hey guys,
looks like Droid-Life has posted that the OTA update is officially here for the latest build.
One question I have is that I have an unrooted T-Bolt but I did update to 2.11.605.0. If I go to the Software Update > Check New option, will this be a problem? As of right now, it's not finding the update. If I need to go back to the stock firmware, is that possible and where can I get the stock firmware if so?
I'm assuming that Verizon has the voicemail indicator and the wierd issue with the camera/google talk on boot problem resolved as I can't imagine they'd launch the firmware globally without resolving - but hey, it IS Verizon after all so you never know.
Thanks for any forthcoming insight/assistance.
Teesh
I don't think you will run into any problems since you are not rooted. If you have a custom recovery, you may loose that too (not sure what happens to that when patch updates are applied) And no, they never fixed the VM notifications. They will fix that in a later update. When? Who knows.
If you would like the full RUU untouched, no root, I can find it for you but you will loose everything so make sure you back up anything.
Link to full untouched RUU:
http://www.androidpolice.com/2011/0...d-rom-radio-and-full-ruu-for-htc-thunderbolt/
Follow the instructions and you will not need to Download the radio file. That is already included in the full RUU. They list the radio in case someone wants to update the radio only and not the software.

There is a difference of roughly 10 or 15 files between the two versions. It's not even enough to most devs to re-base their ROM. BAMF just came out with a little patch you can flash that includes 8 of the files. The rest are obsolete relative to what's in Sense 3.0+ ROMs. Frankly, I don't think it's worth the hassle as it brings next to nothing to the table you don't already have.

Yes, you do have a problem. You're on a leaked RUU... your phone WILL NOT find the update... you might as well just flash the leaked RUU that is the same as the OTA.
The Software Update checks for the current MR2 version, and only then will it give you the GB OTA to download and install.
Head the warnings of installing leaks... I learned the hard way with my Eris.
On that note i have the .2 release. I downloaded the RUU from Android police and it tells me the MD5 does not match for the .3 release.
Then i see a radio zip.
Do both of these need to be downloaded and installed and if so which is first?
I trust the people here more than Android Police so does anyone know where i can get the Stock .3 download.
Thanks in Advance
Android police is very trust worthy I use all their leaks.

Ok, then a question, I did download the RUU from Android Police and then ran a check on the MD5 and it didnt match. Do you know why they wouldnt?
I would re-download the file but as stated above, Android Police is a very reliable place to get leaks.
*Note: some users get a MD5 mismatch when using their phone data to download. If you are doing this, switch to a more reliable connection. If you're not, then try re-downloading the ROM.

Only Singapore has gotten 2.x aka 4.0.4.
All other regions were recently updated to things like 1.88(previous Singtel), 1.89(Telstra), 1.91(Telus), 1.92(o2 Germany) and now 1.94(Rogers). There is probably a 1.90 and 1.93 somewhere. Eg maybe 1.93 is the soon to be released AT&T and maybe Vodafone Germany is at 1.90?
Only thing I can think that might mess it up, is that my phone was rooted, but i've done a factory reset already.
So the only other thing I can think of is that the update fails because my phone shows "tampered" from rooting.
You need to install a ruu(the correct rogers one). That will remove tampered warning.
I just downloaded the update. It's def worth doing it. My phone was rooted as well but had no issues with update. Multitasking issue for me seems to be fixed, well a million times better than it was anyways (Seems i spoke too soon on the multitasking, its a bit better, but after a couple apps its back to normal) no more reloading every time you go back to something. Also I used to find it slow going into text messages etc, and the contact list was slow to update especially when scrolling through, totally eliminated now. So much faster and less bogged down feeling.

Installing a RUU does remove the tampered flag. so run the stock ruu, flash the update then unlock the bootloader again then push the custom recovery. flash a root for cmw then you will be rooted again. If you want a custom rom from it, then do a system dump after the upgrade.

I assume people catch the link while the phone tries to download it.
You can't manually flash a fota. You need to apply all the patch files against the original firmware intended to be updated.
It's a long tedious process, only a smart dev will be able to pull it off.
It was done to get 4.0.4 but is it worth the effort for this? This is likely equal to all the other regions recent 4.0.3 updates.
Why are you guys so eager to flash this? I'm sure there are better custom roms. This will update your hboot so beware. If s-off is achieved you'll be **** out of luck.
