Whenever I try to change one of the dock icons it only changes the one on the far left. is there anyway to fix this?
How are you trying to change them?
Press and hold the icon/location in the dock that your want to replace. It'll pop up the selection for what you want.
I've changed mine from the defaults to what I wanted and then with the latest update back to the same apps I docked but using the default "ghosted" icons that come with the app.
That's what I'm doing, but it doesn't matter which icon i press it only changes the first one.
Weird...
Have you tried uninstalling and re-downloading and installing?
Just tried this myself (didn't know you could even change the icons before) and it does the same thing for me. I tried to change the Messaging icon to GMail, and it changed the Phone icon on the left instead. Confirmed as far as I'm concerned.

Just set up LauncherPro myself yesterday and all icons are changing fine for me. G1 running SuperE 1.0.2 at the moment...
And the person with the Incredible can't be running CM because as far as I know, the Incredible is still unrooted.
That was my point.... You're not running CM either. It's not a problem with LauncherPro. It's a problem with LauncherPro and CM. Anyone not running CM will work fine. Anyone running any CM5.0.7+ will have problems. THis is the point I'm trying to make.

I'm running Cynogen 5.0.5
I never seemed to have the issue running kspec lite 1.1
I flashed Kspec 2 over top of 1.1 and started noticing the issue.
Since then I flashed NexTHEME-Revisions-2 and switched to the HelixLauncher2 but still having the issue.
If i do a reboot it fixes the issue and I haven't been able to narrow down exactly what causes it. I'm trying to replicate it. Think it's caused by flashing several themes over top of one another?

I see it from time to time, I believe if the app drawer is drawn in landscape (home screen rotated 90 degrees) the very first time it launches, it will do that. rather then rebooting, you can also just restart launcher2 (if you are still using helix, or any form of it (nextheme has helix launcher system mod)) then you can juts press menu, configure, scroll down and click restart launcher2.
that did it! I was about to do a backup and redo Cynogen and just the one theme.. That's much easier
Hi all, just got a TB and rooted it yesterday. It was one of the first things I did when I got my phone, so I can't say that this wasn't an issue beforehand, but it seems like LauncherPro isn't staying in memory. Every now and then, when I press the home screen, it will ask me whether to use HTC Sense or LauncherPro. This will keep occuring at random, even after I've checked to use LauncherPro by default. Is anyone else having this problem? Know a quick fix?
Nobody else experiencing this?
there's an option in launcherpro's general settings 'keep in memory'. have you tried that yet? are you using some sort of app-killer (like advanced task manager or ES)? is launcherpro ignored in that?
Sent from my MB525 using XDA App
Ah, sorry, should have clarified. Yes, I have the keep in memory already checked and I am not using any sort of app killer unless there is a stock app killer that I don't know about.
ok, then. in the phone's settings menu, go to applications/manage applications, find launcherpro. is it selected to launch by default?
Sent from my MB525 using XDA App
No defaults set, which is why I assume the settings aren't sticking. Should I just force stop, clear data, uninstall, reinstall to see if that works? Or do you know a nifty way to set it to the default launcher.

you could do what I did, and use Titanium to remove HTC Sense from the phone. No point in having it if your going to use a different launcher.
Haven't checked yet, but is removing HTC Sense one of the safe removable apps? Were you having the same issues as I was or did you just remove it because you didn't use it?
i don't recommend uninstalling sense. i know, launcherpro is good and all, but it's still a third party software, and if something goes wrong, you're left with no launcher, and that kind of sucks... and no, i don't know any way to make it default (other that choosing from the list when it pops up). but reinstalling might help!

i am running das bamf and removed every bit of sense I could get my hands on immediatly as I like what they did with the rom but hate sense. I also installed launcher pro right away and deleted sense.
I have never had launcher pro end up at a point where I couldn't use it anyone. I did this for 2 months on my evo 4g, and will continue to do so.
Just stuck to the tried and true method of clearing data. LauncherPro seems to be sticking now. Thanks for all the replies!
Ah, spoke a little bit too soon. Doesn't seem to be sticking any longer. When I rooted, the process went very smoothly and all root apps that I have run with no problems.
I'm just wondering if there's any way that rooting may have affected LP since no other users seem to be having this problem.
Bumping this.

I have had this very same problem since day 1 with my T-Bolt, and it's driving me crazy. I have not rooted yet, so rooting has nothing to do with it... just so you know...
Like with your's, I get that nasty launcher selection popup randomly; and if I exit from any streaming app or music app, it pops up EVERYsingle time the HOME key is pressed.
It also happens with ADW in exactly the same way as LauncherPro, so I would bet it happens with any launcher that is not Sense.
What have I done to fix it?
1. I have uninstalled / re-installed LauncherPro (and ADW), with no luck.
2. Just in case it was a conflict of Google restoring what I had on my Incredible to my T-Bolt, I uninstalled every uninstallable app I could, and then waited over night for Google to do it's backup ( to create a blank backup), and then did a hard reset the next morning, with no luck.
3. In Settings>Privacy, I unchecked the "Back Up My Settings" box and discovered that a window pops up that says, "Are you sure you want to stop backing up your settings and application data AND ERASE ALL COPIES ON GOOGLE SERVERS?" When I saw that, I saw no need to do the overnight thing and did this repeatedly with hard resets - all this WITH NO LUCK.
4. As a last resort, I took my T-Bolt back to Best Buy (thinking that maybe something went wrong in the provisioning process during activation), and they reactivated my T-Bolt with a new SIM card. Once again, NO LUCK.
I don't know what the heck is going on with it. Maybe it's a rogue app that's conflicting with the T-Bolt. I don't know. What I do know is that there is no problem if I'm using Sense, but I don't like Sense and refuse to use it, so I'm stuck with that darned popup.
I thought that rooting and using a different ROM altogether would get rid of the problem. Have you tried flashing a different ROM?
We have got to find out what's causing this, or at least a good workaround.

Thanks for the reply. Puts my mind at ease knowing that I'm not the only one with the issue and also helps to know that you're experiencing this on an unrooted phone. I have not tried flashing any custom ROMs yet, so perhaps the people who have flashed a ROM can report back on whether LP is acting up on their phones.
I hope it's as simple as LP needing to be updated for TB.
Had this same problem myself... Download an app called HomeSmack from the market. It is free and allows you to switch between Sense and launcherpro easily. Have not had the issue since. Also I can easily switch back to my sense home screen and vice verse without a set-up every time.
Hope this helps

Yeah, I forgot to mention that neat little app - Homesmack. I like it. It's the only way I was able to actually get to LauncherPro from Sense. Without it, for me LauncherPro was simply a *download* that I could not access.
However, it did nothing to keep LauncherPro in memory. It does allow you to clear data from Sense and actually kill it momentarily; but once you get back into LauncherPro (or ADW), the problem simply repeats itself on my T-Bolt.

If I have time, I'm gonna root my T-Bolt this weekend. And then I will immediately flash a ROM - ANY ROM - to see if this works.
From what I'm gathering with regards to the T-Bolt... there are lots of bugs with this phone; however, not all T-Bolts share the same problems, and some are way more common than others. My T-Bolt is, for the most part, flawless; except for the launcher staying in memory. My wife has the headphone jack problem with hers... not everyone is experiencing that, but there are a batch of T-Bolts with faulty headphone jacks. Guess that's what we get for being early adopters. What the heck though, every other 4G phone that comes out will have flaws too. If people are expecting these phones to be fully *worked out*, they should wait and upgrade to 4G next year.
In the meantime, I've found that hitting the *back* key instead of the *home* key bypasses the launcher pop-up selector altogether. It can't be relied on completely because there are some apps you can't get out of without hitting the HOME key.
btw, my coworker has a tb and has this issue of the launcher pro constantly asking to be the default launcher. looks like if you hold the home button to switch between tasks, it clears the default launcher setting. try not using the hold home to multitask function to see if that stops this from happening.
I can verify this behaviour, and it 100% reproducible. It 'forgets' the default launcher with 2 actions:
- Pull down the status bar notification.
- Long press home to switch apps.
It doesn't happen otherwise. I use Wave Launcher, and it doesn't affect the default launcher.
This only started happening this weekend. I have to go through the apps I added recently.
I'm not rooted.
Using Zeam launcher.
I've got a stock evo shift with the most recent OTA update (Android 2.3.3 Sense 2.1 Software number 2.76.651) and my Sense has been restarting ALL THE TIME. I'll be using an app, hit the home button or the back button to get to my home screen, and it'll show a white screen with the green HTC then show my home screen with a loading message for 5-10 seconds. This only started happening after updating and it's starting to get pretty annoying. Anyone else have this problem/know of a solution for it? I've tried reboots and it usually seems to make it happen less for a little while but it always starts to happen again.
Since you said Stock. Does that mean unrooted? It is a known issue on Stock Gingerbread. The Memory settings are to agressive. You can try AutoKiller Memory Optimizer to change the settings. But it will only help so much.

I had the same problem - got to where almost every time I switched back to the home screen from doing anything, it would have to reload. I tried disabling fast boot and it didn't do anything for me. I did a factory reset, re-downloaded the apps I wanted to keep, and that seemed to fix the problem. Very rarely happens anymore, only seems to occur when I am in the browser for a long time or playing a game for a while. Hope this helps.
I'm rooted, on the stock rom, and sense would re-load. I use Launcher Pro now, and while I still get a few reloads, the launcher refreshes much quicker than sense, and it does have widgets similar to Sense. I had paid for LP Pro last year, with my Evo, so I figure I'd use my paid app.
*Double Post*
I've had a few android phones, but so far I have not run into this issue with any of them. I am running stock + root (though the issue was happening before root) and every once in a while I'll notice an icon is missing from one of my home screens.
Typically, it's been my Scrabble icon that goes missing. Sometimes it will be TouchDown or Words With Friends that disappear, or it will be a widget. Has anyone encountered this?
I've tried doing a reset of the phone, but still run into the same thing after a few days. I have checked to make sure that an update was not done to the app, turned off auto-updates for any of the affected programs that I've noticed so far, but still I find that the icon disappears.
I'd appreciate any input as to a way to find out when/how the icon was deleted from the screen. Since I'm the only one that uses my phone, I don't think it's being dropped accidentally by someone else. I do know that I have used an app's icon before going to bed, but when I wake up the next day, it or one of the others that was there is gone.
Have you moved any of these apps to the SD card?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using XDA App
Nope, not running anything from the SD card. I use it mainly for moving music and the occassional movie between two different devices.
That was happening to me too on stock 2.3.6 but after I flashed sky ics ROM it fixed it

it has happened on every single rom. including skyics....skyics does it the least out of any ROM I've used...but it still does it...i have 155 apps installed...every other reboot I end up with 150 or less....
and I could reboot again...and lose more apps...i have to reinstall them...sometimes they will all come back after a reboot
NONE are moved to SD, default install location.
this is the only droid that has done that...it's really weird.
Hi,
Searched the internet but could only find one other writing about the exact same issue that I have.
Has any of you experienced the same? I happens quite often unfortunately...
Quote from this Google forum:
I have a habit of using "Back" button to "exit" from Android applications back to the launcher. Recently, I started noticing a rather peculiar and intermittent behavior associated with "Back" button. Consider the following scenario:
I launch my Out of Milk app using a icon on my launcher screen. The app starts successfully. I do what I wanted to do. And then I hit the "Back" button in order to return back to the launcher screen. The Out of Milk GUI disappears, but it is immediately replaced with Google Earth app splash screen. It is displayed for a very short time (a split second). Then it disappears and I finally return to the launcher screen.
Some other time I launch RealCalc app, do what I wanted to do, and hit the "Back" button. For a split second I get thrown to Contacts app for and only then I return to the launcher.
This seems to happen with all apps. Sometimes, when I hit the "Back" button I even get to see glimpses of two apps instead of one, in sequence, each for the very same short period of time. This behavior is very intermittent. In many cases the "Back" button works as it is supposed to, i.e. it returns me to the launcher screen immediately.
So, what is causing this strange "flashback" behavior?

well, if you don't have any launcher set to default, you can kill it and when you click on back button it goes to random app, but you have the default launcher set, so this is not the problem in your case.
P.S.: I also have Nova Launcher and don't have this problem, so the problem must be somewhere else.

Stock ROM with Franco kernel. But I think it also happened on Faux kernel, but not 100% sure.
I also just disabled Xposed Framework to be able to run on ART, which didn't change it.

same here, quite annoying, 4.4.2 stock and franco r34
I find this happens when a [bad] app crashes. I can't remember which app I had problems with but until I uninstalled it every time I used the back button to leave it I'd wind up in another app, usually one I had not used in a while.
happened here too... stock launcher, stock kernel, gravity box installed, rooted... about the only changes i've made.
Just a kitkat glitch probably

This same issue happens to me as well, not too often but it does occur. The apps that mostly come up for me are the dialer and gmail. Im running SlimKat 4.4.2 Build 3.6 with Nova Prime set as the default launcher and I actually started experiencing it after seeing several people who brought it up in the SlimKat thread. However, from what all i have read, seen, and been told about it though, it has been happening to people on all different KitKat roms both custom and stock and not just any one thing in particular. Like another person said, i too believe it is just a KitKat bug in general and not something specific as to any one single thing that could be causing it. I would guess that it will be fixed eventually being that many people have been experiencing it and not just a few.

I'm also having this issue. Stock rom/kernel and rooted. Caught it on screen record. Excuse the background noise. Didn't realise it was recording sound. http://youtu.be/sOxzuiFv3xQ
Glad I'm not the only one experiencing this problem. Also sometimes when I'm exiting to the homescreen my icons and widgets take a split second to appear.
The same thing happened on my Skyrocket running 4.4.2 before it kicked the bucket. Figured it was due to running a custom rom but now it's happening on my mostly stock N5.
