Hey ya'll I'm getting ansy for tomorrow's release.. Quick question.. Has anyone found a comperable SRSWOW plugin to add some clarity and "thump" to the phones standard audio output? SRSWow on Winmo is a godsend and truly makes the phones audio double in clarity and crispness across all the bands...
Thanks!
Is there a problem with the Audio?
Mine sounds fine.
This question isn't about a problem, but moreso about the ability to "tune" the audio to enhance the sound. If you have had a winmo phone with SRSwow, you'll know what I mean.. Night and day difference in sound depth, crispness, bass clarity, and seperation from stock.
i've only come across a single media player that had even had an EQ for android. i'll see if i can find the thread...
edit: found it.
astro player
I've dealt a lot with SRS WOW on my winmo device and on a desktop PC... After through testing, came to a conclusion that most of the time it actually makes the music sounds worse. Trashed it and never gone back.

Hmmm.. Not sure how qualified your ears are, but i can guarantee in a car with a smallish sub the SRSWoW made all the difference from stock WM players on Winmo. Inside there might be less subtle changes. The ability to widen the sound and get less mud from the bass is really where this plugin shines. Sounds like its not quite there for Android yet. Bummer!

I produced music for past 3 years (trance), spent WEEKS battling youtube optimizing my uploads for best audio quality, play piano, and am in charge of my church's choir... I think that should be enough to qualify me as "not a n00b in audio/music area"

Touche...We are playing MP3's after all, lol After trying Astro Music I wasn't wowed that much.. Hopefully there are more plugins enroute to satisfy my SRSwow fixation ;/
just do what I did... save up and invest some $$ and get better quality sound system, let it be headphones, speakers, car sound, etc...
I spent $80 on headphones and another $100 on new 3-say speakers for my car. That made all the difference. AMAZING sound quality on both, no need for any SRSWOW patches
I can relate, I need it myself. I need to boost/tune my overall volume as well, & not just in mp3s.
You are a deaf mann frifoxxx !! You cant replace your phones speaker but you can increase quality with SRS.You can configure low frequency to 400hz or 300hz and sound is better better better than standart in ALL WM phones.I think SRS is really necesary for ALL devices that has small speakers like laptops, phones, tablet pcs.Im producing music for 7 years and i think SRS is necessary for all small speakered device. And many manufacturers are using srs engines in their lcd tvs,phones...etc and they have SRS logo on front.sorry for my english if your devices headphone amplifier is bad about bass (like HD2) you can use srs for headphone configuring 40 hz and far input output DB values. And you get the BASSS

it is not working on my hd2 android rom and it only have a standart eq.Srs is not is an eq srs is a dynamic real time processıng engine that scans sound and boost neccessary frequencies necessary parts of sound.

I want srs for my sgs2
I have it on my pc and on my i900 its sounds really amazing after adjustements
There is an app called equalizer made by the same guys that make audio manager and it worked great on my evo

I personally like Volume Boost. It literally tweaks the eq to raise volume, has custom and preset eq, and other great tweaks. The "in call" is still in testing, but the speaker, and headphone, and headset quality is pretty amazing for a market app

I like crisp clean sound. Bass is nice but I hate it when the bass is so distorted that it drones out the crisp highs and mids. What's the point of audio I'd you've got the bass turned so far up you can't hear the vocals.

SRSWOW
I am looking for a working version of SRSWOW for my android tablet, It's the Samsung 10.1 and I agree that using SRSWOW no comparison it is the best for not rooting my tablet. All I want is about a 30% increase in sound I have tried several other so called boost the volume apps and nothing has so far worked. So if anyone could steer me in the right direction I would be very happy, thanks in advance..

I've searched around and have a hard time figuring out which phones actually work with any of the versions of srs wow... I dont really care if its srs wow, bbe+ or anything else that works just as good...
so here's my questions:
which phones works with which of the soundenhancers and do you have a link where I can download it?
an instruction would be nice too if its not straight forwards with setupfiles or drag'n'drop
regards martin
To be honest wouldn't even bother with SRS as all it deals with is amplitude which does nothing for audio acoustics in fact the opposite leads to distortion, if your using your device for media purposes best bet is to get PocketPlayer for Audio and CorePlayer or the freeware version TCPMP for Video as they all have an EQ.
ofcourse its an EQ.. but faking sourroud by changing frequencies based on how they are reflected by the ears and working with overtones to create a deeper bass isn't part of a normal EQ... I've had mp3players for the last 20 years and I can definitely hear a difference on my irivers and iaudios compared to an ipods and other mp3 with normal EQs
sounds like you havn't been using srs or havn't used it the right way
Think you read me wrong it's not so much an eq as does not cover the whole spectrum to which is why i stated above, it's ok i just come from studio engineering maybe that's why i prefer an eq with selectable bands and notice that there is no great sound acoustics going on with SRS WOW
Honestly, it blew me away, that this phone can rival my portable audio player in the sound quality.
I put in .WAVs (converting from .FLAC -> .WAV, since .FLAC isn't supported with Inspire) and was blown away at the sound quality that this little thing can push out.
I downloaded the equalizer app, and was quite pleased with the way it sounded.
My portable system:
I consider myself an audiophile, with a Hifiman and Sony NWZ-X series portable audio player, connected to a iBasso portable AMP, connected to a Shure SE530, with custom earmold.
If you want flac support try poweramp music player.
I take back what I said.
After a full two days worth of playing around with the PowerAmp app (setting the EQ like I want it to), it's average at best.
The sound breaks at high trebles, and the sound, in general, sound very "cold".
I would not replace my everyday DAP with this.

I was wondering why you thought the Inspire's SQ was so great, but didn't want to rain on your parade with my opinion. It is quite mediocre, isn't it? Even my previous iPhones were noticeably better and louder. FWIW the earbuds I used to compare them are the UltimateEar TripleFi 10 Pro's.
The audio is not the best on this phone but I personally noticed a difference with the ota update.

Using a custom rom, so can't really use the OTA update.
I, unfortunately, concur here. Highs sound slightly robotic and the low notes are muddy (on stock EQ and ICS). The Galaxy S2 I've been using for a while is much more accurate. (Using Klipsch s3)
UPDATE: Big mistake. It was the ROM, not the hardware. Sounds equally as great as my S2 with a stock ROM.
The sound on this phone is actually very good. (even with a stock rom)
I use the SONY MDR-XB500 extra bass head phones. (don't waste your time with ear buds)
Using Melchizedek_1.5.1_Alpha with DSP manager has tremendous bass.
Clean crisp sound with thundering bass....
I had this on my HD2 and loved it. Is there any way to get it on the Sensation? Is there something similar or better? And as opposed to what some may say it is not just an EQ. It does some signal processing that really make a difference to me. I listen on in-ear headphones (Shure SE535 and Jerry Harvey custom molded JH13's)
its in the htc music player.

SRS is already installed on the sensation.... Well at least the Tmobile branded one is that i know of. when you are listening to music in the stock music app it is in the top right hand corner. if you are watching a movie it is at @ the far left hand corner i also noticed it your movie is encoded with 5.1 surround it gives you that option with headphones plugged in.
SRS Question...
Is there a 'custom' panel of settings for this, used to use one on my WinMo and the customisation was great. I notice on WP7, it is just basic settings like reggae, rock, etc. This is not always acceptable as you should really tune it to your headphones, not so much different types of music (well, for me anyway...)
What's the go with the Sensation..?
As everyone knows, the audio quality of I9003 is not up to the mark, and this has been discussed various times.
Its real bad when compared to that of I9000 or of any iphone (personally tried).
If anyone knows about any custom rom, with improved sound or any other rom, or any method to improve the sound quality, please discuss.
As crazy as it sounds I'm actually quite satisfied with the audio quality of our phone (despite my constant whining a few months ago). Although I do agree that the audio quality of most idevices is better.
Anyway I'm currently using cranium rom and miui player on XXKPH. I honestly cant tell if this has any impact on audio quality but recently I've been a happy camper
Others will suggest the use of the equalizer app from the market. Its honestly the best EQ available and you wont be using those EQs that come with the music player anymore. It's free too
I suggest the Playerpro app as well since I've found it to have a louder volume overall and the UI is pretty neat.
And although this might sound redundant but I'm curious as to what headset your'e using. It always helps to have a reliable pair of quality head/earphones
I have the headphones that comes with the i9003, they are quite good. With DSP Manager it has a good quality sound, but Im having a problem with it, the phones speakers keep doing a static sound and drink the battery.
Ill try the equalizer app...

Oh man I suggest you get the Koss Portapros. These are the best sounding and most comfortable headphones I've ever used (and I've used alot). Their sound quality is comparable to headsets which are 3x times more expensive. Plus it comes with a no questions asked LIFETIME warranty- just pay for shipping.
I've been using these for a year and it hasn't failed me. Here in the Philippines it gets pretty hot so comfort is a big issue for me when it comes to headsets. With these on I forget I'm even wearing them
Here is the link for more info: http://www.amazon.com/Koss-PortaPro...P4ZH/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1320488226&sr=8-1
For on ear headphones Ive the senheizer hd202. They are just great. But for listening to music while walking on street I use the in-ear samsung headphones.
The HD202's sound great on well driven devices but unfortunately thanks to its high resistance it just doesnt sound good on most portable devices.
If you want slightly inexpensive mic+ earphones combo like the stock earphones that came with the phone go for skullcandy riot!
They are better than the stock earphones and are not going to break the bank!
Also I want to know on sennheiser hd202 3.5 mm hack do you have 2 concentric black/gray rings or 3 rings?

There are 2 concentric rings.
Have you tried using those portable headphone amps from fiio? The E5 or the E6? I have the old E5 and it does improve the sound from my I9003. The earphones I have used that to my feeling had an improvement were the Denon reference C751 and the Sennheiser IE8 with silver cable. I have also used it on an AKG K420 and Sennheiser PX100 and I did feel some improvement on sound.
Guys what would you prefer
Equalizer app or the Music fx app.

You came from a phone that had an emphasis on sound quality to a dev friendly phone that's almost bare bones software wise. It should have been obvious.
You maybe had that BS Beats software on the HTC? It's just an equalizer pushing bass and treble... Sound is good to me. Streaming Google play music via Bluetooth in my car right now and it sounds great.
I do admit that the HTC one s had a great sound chip which I believe is confirmed in tests and I did use that phone for several months.

that would normally be a good thing for in-ear headphones. in-ear headphones are ussually extremely bass heavy unless they are very expensive hifi models. but most of us actually like the exhagerated bass, so $50 headsets don't bother us. i tend to like cheaper heasets and haven't gone for etymotics or anything yet because sometimes low-fi brings certain character to the mix, ever try playing a guitar through a PA system? or some reference monitors? ever wonder why people go through such lengths to re-create the past in music? it's not because the tech was better in 1930-1969. well in some ways it actually was compared to low end stuff today, but the flaws were as important to the music as the talent. i don't have my phone yet, so i can't say the headset is good, but because you prefer the htc headset doesn't mean it's better (nor does anything i said mean it's worse). so why not just use the htc headset instead of complaining on the internet? or buy a set you like? dennon has a bullet proof set of in-ear for $35 and they are very ballanced for a cheap set. but if you like extreme bass i liked the sound of my $80 xeers, they were the best for bass heavy blues/rock stuff like the black keys or the white stripes. these were not ballanced at all but in a way that was pleasing to the ear.
edit, just realized it's about the sound output of the phone.... not even sure the nexus comes with a headset since mine is still in shipping..... ya know the beats software can be added to any phone right? i mean i can't confirm it workes at all but people were doing this mod back when the one x and whatever it's predecessor was came out and everyone insisted that by adding some of the libs and an app that it sounded so much better...

Yeah, must be because of the Beats.
It's because of the Equalizer settings in the One. Install Viper4Android on this phone and set it up and you'll see the clarity and quality is just amazing. Beats products are highly Equalized especially the Laptops and Phones. They're also setup to go under completely flat line Equalizer when disable to make it sound bad without the beats audio. This in turn makes those people who know nothing about audio think beats audio is a god send when in fact it's just a regular equalizer that sounds awesome enabled and worse disabled. If Viper4Android (See forum thread here on xda) doesn't work yet then use an equalizer app from the market and play around with it. You'll enjoy your sound a lot more.
There's something wrong with Google Play Music. It sounds horrible I installed Rocket Player and it sounds superb. Just needs more volume. My S4 still sounds better by a small margin though.

Nexus doesn't come with headphones. Which is fine with me since I have never used set of headphones packaged with a phone. Software can make a very big difference in sound quality. I usually use PowerAmp. I'm sure that PowerAmp combined with the headphones listed in my sig will be just fine on the N5. Now if they would just ship the damn thing.

No he came from a phone with Beats Audio out of the box.
Complaining about the sound quality of the N5 compared to the One S is like claiming that Sennheiser studio headphones are **** compared to Monster Beats studio headphones.
The N5 has stellar sound quality. What it sounds like without any equalizer presets activated is what your music is SUPPOSED to sound like. Want it to sound like your One S? Choose the bass booster equalizer preset and there you go.

Install an equalizer and adjust to taste. Like many have said before it's because the HTC one has built in "Beats" Equalizer which changes audio settings and frequencies.

This isn't true at all. The sound engineers have no idea what kind of DAC you'll be using, or what kind of speakers/headphones you'll be using. All DAC's have different sound signatures. All headphones/speakers have different sound signatures. They mix it to sound the way they want it based on the equipment they have in the studio. Unless you're using the same equipment then you're never going to hear it the way it was SUPPOSED to sound. Some EQ will almost always be required to approximate the intended sound.
Beats audio does tend to over emphasize the bass. However to say a flat eq is the way it is supposed to sound is not accurate since every device is going to have a different flat sound, as are every different type of headphone. Decent headphones along with decent software and a decent DAC will give sound quality that will satisfy most. I have no reason to believe that the N5 will fall short.

No, they mix it the way they want it to sound on various equipment. Checking how it sounds on various devices is part of the mixing and mastering. So no EQ is needed, in fact it will ruin the sound most of the time.
