i read somewhere that the nexus 1 had a feature built in (hardware fuse?) that when the phone was unlocked? or rooted?? there was no way of relocking it with the stock rom?
does anyone know if this is the case with the evo? or will we be able to relock and reflash the sprint htc stock rom if necessary for insurance purposes, etc?
Thanks!
Due to a technicality, and assuming Sprint/HTC don't change anything prior to the June 4 launch, you will be able to unroot back to stock, as if nothing happened.

I did a manual check for software updates today and my phone had found a update. I downloaded it but put it on hold to update. Because I was wondering if this was a good update or potentially harmful sent by carrier as my phone is rooted etc. Did anyone else get a update and if so what was it? Or is there a way to check it out before hand just in case?

This won't mess up being rooted? Not exactly sure what ucla means is that radio? Was wishing for actual ICS.

Okay, so how do I delete it as its downloaded and I have not been able to find where it is. Not in my downloads folder.
Alright after looking for quite some time and not finding exactly were the at&t update was put. I decided that I would just flash a back up of what I was using. Because the only option I seemed to have otherwise would be to keep postponning the update install.
Something is wrong with my phones wifi and I need to swap it out but with verizon rooting voids the warrenty.
So from what I understand I need odin to flash stock I535VRALG1. Is that all I need to do? Anyone know where to find the image? Will doing this trip the flash counter? What should I watch out for when they inspect the phone.
Look in the sticky threads dude, all you have to do is a little bit of searching and reading......

You will have to Odin the orignal I535VRALF2 then do the OTA update to get back to stock I535VRALG1.

thats what i wasnt sure about, cuz my phone came with a sticker that said updated. basically i got it with I535VRALG1. So will verizon see that i got the "second" ota update? can all this be done without tripping any flash counter?

I don't think going back to factory then updating their way will effect the trip counter.
Hey guys im new to note5 my girl got one today and this is what it came with. But im not seeing any info on this version. Am i missing something? Thanks guys!
This is just the most recent update. Proceed as normal. It was merely a "security patch" supposedly. But haven't heard much of anything different.

Thanks man shes excited to get your rom on her note 5. She uses my s5 and likes how mine is set up and works so well!
Can I root this ver.?
Hi,
Has anyone done a Jump upgrade where the device being returned has been rooted and a custom ROM has been installed? Does TMobile care if the device has been rooted and a new ROM installed? I can flash back to stock and relock the bootloader but was wondering if it's necessary?
Thanks in advance.
I've heard it go both ways. Go back to stock just to be sure
Thanks, I was going to do that once I get the new device. Just wondering what they would consider "unacceptable". Yes, this is me being lazy.
It really depends on the rep who checks it. I'm resetting mine this afternoon, waiting for the Plus myself

Would you mind sharing what you're going to do to reset it? I was going to use this:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/v20/how-to/restore-v20-to-100-stock-bricked-devices-t3524903
But not sure if there's a simpler method to go back to factory default.
Thanks in advance.
That's the thread I'm looking at. Or, I may just flash the T-Mobile stock ROM and leave it at that

Some CS reps don't even look or care but its better to be on the safe side. Would suck if they denied you and you had to go home to reload stock TMO ROM.

I'm on JOD and I've returned devices that were previously rooted and loaded with a custom ROM with no issue. Even a Note 5 that was rooted which permanently broke Samsung Pay. I'm also a manager at a corporate store & most reps wouldn't even know what they were looking at to be honest lol. So long as it powers on and has no damage you're good.

So, why do people keep mentioning CSRs in the answers? I am returning it in the box the S8+ is coming in. Can I actually return it back to a store as well? I thought I had to ship it back to TMobile.

I think it depends on how your order it. Do you think the V20 will fit in the S8+ box? The V20 is pretty wide.

*shrug* I have absolutely NO idea, but I'm guessing as the S8+ is going to show up in its own box with all the other stuff for the device, and all I have put BACK in the return box is JUST the LG V20, I would assume there's going to be plenty of room.
Ha, I'm in this boat too. Too lazy to restore but I will if it means there might be a problem. I thought they just force flash a stock firmware when they got it. What to do.....What to do...

Yes. There is an MSM Tool in the guides section of the 7 Pro forums of XDA. there are actually 3, but you're looking for the one to revert back to stock T-Mobile firmware.

yeah I've been keeping my eye on that ever since i decided that i was going to get this phone lol. i just wasn't sure if it was possible to turn the phone back in without them knowing I've tampered with the phone.
Yep, it's possible to go back to stock. But I've been with T-Mobile for years and have turned in every phone I've had rooted with twrp installed. They've never given me any issues.

If I recall correctly, it'll even relock the bootloader, though you could just relock it yourself before using the tool to make sure. There's no flags tripped or anything like Samsung's Knox counter.

I've done this with at least 4 phones and never had an issue either.
No one seems to care/know if the phone is unlocked and/or rooted...
