Noob Goldcard Android Question - Android Software/Hacking General [Developers Only]

Hello I know this is a noob question but im new to the rooting process.
I have a crippled HTC Magic (vodafone) and I want to root it but I do that i have a Question.
Could i copy my Goldcard onto the boot image of android 2.2 and be able to install it to my phone. Would this work and if it wouldn't not work could it be explained to me please

if you have a vodafone 32b magic (uk version?), there is no need to create a goldcard..... its dead easy

I tried without the goldcard and i couldn't downgrade to 1.5 mytouch. When I did this i was unable to progress in the installation of Cyanogen and the phone would not let me past this step it kept saying phone was locked or something to that effect.
I can't remember exactly but i was able to revert to 1.6 vodafone and show room people at the vodafone store are not smart and sent it to be repaired as a faulty update.

Shutdown tour phone, hold the back button and end/power button when turning it back on and tell me what you see?

Orange Branded Kaiser to Official HTC Rom

I am getting an Orange branded Kaiser next week and will want to revert it to the official HTC Rom, I have never done anything like this so am a bit green. I have downloaded the file RUU_Kaiser_HTC_WWE_1.56.405.5_radio_sign_22.45.88.07_1.27.12.11_Ship.rar
Can any one tell me if this is the official English version of the HTC rom and also is all I have to is follow the idiots guide in the other thread on this forum.
I'd recommend you ask orange for the sim unlock code before attempting this.
Unless you're happy to flash your phone and be unable to use *any* (including oranges) sim in it.

is it the same for T-Mobile? Had a HTC TYTN and now a T-Mobile Vario III and prefer to have the HTC rom because I cannot get the Windos live to auto sync / as messages arrive post a SR ever
Cheers

Your fine to upgrade as long as you don't touch the radio portion of the Rom.
HardSPL your phone, then decompile the HTC rom and create a new rom using only the OS portion. then install using Pofs custome RUU installer.
Cheers
I held back on changing my Orange UK ROM for the same sim-lock reasons. However I simply used HardSPL first & then flashed my phone with the Sleuth ROM as it doesn't touch the radio & therefore bypasses the sim-lock issue.
Am now very happy and de-oranged.

Apologies in advances for the noobness of this question. I have an Orange Tytn II and would like to use it on O2. I've been using the phone for calls, so it's unlocked. I've got Internet settings for the O2 Stellar from O2 and entered them but it still won't connect making it rather useless to me.
From reading it seems to by because the radio is locked to Orange? CID locked? is that right?
I've successfully run the HardSPL, which I understand will now enable me to install other ROMs. What I'm not clear on is if I do this if I will permanently SIMlock the Orange phone or if the HardSPL gets round this problem and I'll be safe to put on another ROM and so letting me get online and 'deOrangig the phone'.
I've read that I can put on a ROM as long as it doens't touch the radio. But does this releveant only if you want to stay on Orange? Will it let you use another network SIM? And which ROM would that be anyway.
Bit confused as you can see. Any help appreciated.

How to UNroot after 1-click Root?

Does anyone know how to UNroot 32b after having rooted with the 1-click procedure? To root I have followed the following guide - which is very well explained btw.
http://theunlockr.com/2009/08/29/how-to-root-the-htc-magic-in-one-click/
But if I have to send the device to warranty, I would like to be able to UNroot and restore the stock ROM (swisscom switzerland).
Any help welcome! Thanks
There is another video on his site that shows the unroot procedure. it is quite simple. also you can read this.
http://forums.t-mobile.com/tmbl/board/message?board.id=AndroidDev&thread.id=9802
I believe these UNroot procedures are only intended for the MyTouch 3G and not for the magic 32b. Am I wrong?
I asked the Unlockr if the UNroot procedure was valid after 1-click Root and he replied the following:
"TheUnlockr Says:
Yes, but only for the MyTouch. If you have a Magic there is a different procedure.
"
And indeed I have a Magic 32b from Swisscom Switzerland.

You will need to locate a sappimg.nbh for your phone if you want a complete undo. You can just get a nandroid backup of another phone to get the original OS load working.
I did this as a test on my myTouch and I did not need the goldcard. It worked with my regular sd card.
Next time search or post any questions in General section.

now the phone is stuck in ruu mode , i cannot get into the recovery mode as i had done before , the main screen has at the bottom a picture of a rom/ram in a red circle with the stripe through the middle, when the phones in that mode i can hear my twitter app on the phone bleeping everytime i get a new tweet but it wont boot into the main interface , i have tryed through ms dos all the commands but it always fails , the phone needs a ruu file to install the phone back to life but after 2 days searching here and on google i have not found the belgium rom to restore it back to life , i dont know if there will be a update soon as its a 32a version , any ideas guys or how to build a ruu to get it back , i had saved my nandoid but that does not help at all , any help would be very gratefull as iam pulling out my hair with this phone

thanks in advance
On the forum have posted a lot of similar info!
- use brain
- use search button
And the answer is:
- use goldcard
Create goldcard from sdcard to avoid checking Customer ID. It is simply method, but i notice, that some sd cards and some devices are not compatible with this process
You must find following: a computer (notebook) with Ubuntu (or Linux-based OS) and built-in cardreader. But i you have friend with Android-phone process will be simpliest.
There is a problem getting CID from cardreader, that connected through USB-port to computer, because Ubuntu mounts sdcard from cardreader as physical storage, not as device.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=572683
There is instruction of creating Goldcard.
attention: Step 20 is for Hero only
At this step you must use any RUU ROM with version 3.03.XXX for Magics (HK Vodafone-Smartone, Singapore, Malaysia - does not matter). You cann't use old RUU ROMs, cause you flashed a new perfected SPL already. It doesn't allow downgrading.
p.s. there is an alternative method getting CID in Ubuntu

thanks
thanks for your help i will look in to it , i did search the forum but there seems so many different ways people have managed to restore thier phones , have contacted htc as well for a real copy in ruu format as iam sure they must have it on their ftp and will if i get it upload it and post it here on the forum for any users with the same model from belgium to restore back thier original rom
no goldcard
apple macs suck , iam unable to make my sd card as it cannot be seen in dos commands , will have to wait until i can get hold of a real computer so i can try again
No need for a goldcard you can do it right way
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=589722
read the post then take a look post 35 at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=5033743&postcount=35
what you need is change the files so you have the hero spl and hero recovery and this new radio inside the file now you can ron ruu (as explaind in #35 ) you should end up with a eng S-OFF SPL and the new rom then it is posiable to recover back to an older ROM if you want , search newxt time for a topic not just for recover a dead phone!
remember new radio = new SPL first then maybe downgrade,
is it in RUU mode or just fastboot ?
any ways you should fix it using these links
cheers
will read and try out the links you gave thanks and its a ruu mode my phones stuck in
It cann't help to peekie.
Because his phone have perfected SPL 1.76.0007 already.
It doesn't allow to flash other SPL. We've tried with my friend, but RUU doesn't flash eng SPL if phone have perfected.
I flashed successfully, cause i have eng SPL 1.33.2010
p.s. Goldcard needed for RUU Update, cause Customer ID is different between HongKong and Romania =)
up and running
thanks to all your tips i managed to get my phone back to life using my wifes htc hero ( she was away for a few days ) made the magaic card and flashed the vodafone rom , htc were useless and said i had a vodafone version ( as i live in holland ) not realising it was a second hand one from belgium and yep its very fast and cool now , merry xmas to all
can anyone help me with this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=5175739#post5175739

rooting = unlocking?

hi
im a noob when it comes to rooting my htc magic. ive tried three times before, failed all of them and have already bricked three phones. i got my htc magic from Rogers in Canada and they have locked the phone to Rogers themselves.
i am now in hong kong for summer, unable to use my phones and is stuck with my old sony ericsson P1i, which is a very boring phone.
my question is, if i attempt to root the phone again and succeed this time, does it mean that i have already unlocked the phone? that the phone's carrier is not restricted anymore? and also what is the safest way to root my htc magic?
thanks for all the help in advance

I succesfully unlocked and rooted the Rogers Magic after being locked out by perfect SPL performing the January 2010 911 upgrade. Did this using the 'goldcard' method and flashing the imperfect SPL 1.76.2007 ENG. Was then able to flash a generic 1.5 cupcake ROM and apply Wifi tether. All works perfectly well.
Search for The UnLockr's method to create the goldcard, then follow the SPL thread on how to flash the imperfect SPL. Good luck.

[Q] Unroot g2

can someone help me out please? i rooted my g2 today and about 2 hours later dropped it flat on its face. the lcd broke, i cant see anything on the phone just vibrates when i turn it on.. is there some way using the sdk on the computer to unroot the phone so i can send it for an insurance replacement?
If its anything like the desire you can apply a RUU update.exe that flashes the phone rom, hboot, radio and recovery i.e. stock. However if yours is branded i.e. has your carriers software all over it, you'll need to find the corresponding RUU for that carrier. Also if its branded you'll probably (desire does) need to make a goldcard if you were to apply an unbranded RUU.

EDIT: didn't realise the G2 was T-Mobiles phone (if Im not mistaken and check me on this is the HTC Hero)... erm heres a link to a load of G2 roms, radios etc http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=4525584
do some researching into tutorials to make sure your doing the right thing. Also to research is whether your phone is GSM or CDMA as you will also have to flash the right RUU for that too.
When you rooted did you only root the rom or also patch a modded recovery too? If its the rom I suppose you could apply just the rom update, however if you applied a recovery you'll have to flash that with a stock one too.
Sorry its a bit confusing...
