Hi, you can install the voice search engine from http://www.eclosion-android.com/com.google.android.voicesearch.apk
then save it in your sd card. And change the file extension from zip to .apk , then install it using Astro.
Delete the google search bar, then get it again. This time you will notice it comes with a microphone sign on the side. If you have 'better keyboard' then you can use voice recognition too.

does that mean we can send sms using our voice?
Worked like a charm thanks so much! Was thinking I'd have to wait for an update or root before we had this feature.

Did you rename the file estension? It has to be changed from .zip to .apk then install the program.
Any software in the market with voice recognition will work. Like "Speak n Send" is good one, you could send sms, email, notes whatever with it.
I am not sure why HTC IME is not detecting the voice recognition?? Well other keyboards are, like "better keyboard".
I used the above url, downloaded to XP and placed it in the SD card.
I have Unknown sources enabled.
I have the HTC keyboard installed.
I disabled it and useed the default keyboard
no joy
I've also tried to install it via the phone's own browser in case xp did something weird to the file. no joy
I'll try better keyboard and see what the result will be.
Did you rename the extension?????
I have downloaded it with Firefox and didnt need to change extension, it worked perfectly, just installed it trough Astro. At least for Google, on HTC_IME keyboard it does not work.
Wow, works like a charm,
Mine was donloaded as a apk, didn't have to rename it..

hmm I got that too a few weeks ago so I had to go back to my backup, strange that it works on my Nexus and not yours.
I currently use slideit which is good but its no swype, have swype on my g1 for quick responses so I know the diferences between the two I'll just deal with slideit until I can get swype, thank you though!

Force close it in settings>applications after you get the message saying it wont work for your phone. Then when you go back to type it wont beep at you.
Have any of these swypie slidey inputs gotten Voice icon and/or standard landscape yet ?

still doesnt work for me
i even closed it with a taskkiller.... is it missing the dictionary or something? idk. how did you other incredible owners make it work?
1. Uninstall Swype.
2. Use this thread, find the one you want
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=671070
3. Copy to SD card, install with Astro.
Dropping into my apps folder with Droid Explorer, causes Force Closes on my G1 and N1. Installing with Astro File manager, or anything else thats a legit file installer, seems to work fine.
AstroZip / AndroZip / both worked for me.
I did this yesterday, right after the versions of swype on both devices I use, expired.
Best of Luck.
I'm not sure if this is allowed, but since it's a direct link from beejive.com, I think it should be? I'm not actually in the beta.

I might give it a try. I don't IM much these days but it's still nice to have a good client there for when you need it..
ATM i'm using the official msn messenger for android (without ads mod).
Do msn have official apps on android? What the name of the app?
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
It's called MSN Droid.
Edit: Actually I'm not too sure if that's the official app, sorry.

still in beta and the UI is pretty good.
yet the function is rather poor.
No it's not msn droid.
It's official msn, but developed by PICA (chinese company http://www.pica.com/)
http://www.androidzoom.com/android_applications/tools/messenger_cbpe.html
I'm don't think it's available in english market, so heres a link to the apk (it is a free app, not warez) http://www.megaupload.com/?d=BALZ1U08
It is modified to remove ads (the official one has ads >_<)

Need to hide app icon in notification bar, its truly annoying.
needs work but pretty good so far...will be paying for it once it becomes available...
Nice
Seems to work pretty good. I like the ease. It does appear to be on all the time though but I've not seen a significant battery drop to warrant removing it. Really wish they would have opened the beta up for more people, I hated just downloading it but not being able to participate in bug posting.
Actually you can participate, Maybe not bugs, but fatal errors that cause the app to crash you can send email logs of when the app crashed directly to them. After the app has a force close it will ask you if you want to send the log when the app crashed to them by e-mail.

You have to rename the file to change it to .apk file. (at the moment it's named BejiveIM.apk.zip)
If you have file extensions hidden then unhide them and remove the .zip and save.
I was getting a "Timedout" and then "no client key" yesterday but the app started to work again late last night. I'm not too sure I like the size of the icon like others have said, but I do like its the most stable out of the clients I've tried without draining my battery.... much.

Agree! Reason I uninstalled after a few hours. Besides that the app icon seems larger than any of the others I have. But not being able to disable the icon in the notification bar is extremely annoying!!

yeah this app isnt bad at all, it seems close to trillian it will come down to 5 things...

-speed/lag between IMs
-reliable connection

this shows more settings, but still no way to enable another keyboard through settings. Have you personally gotten this to work on an unrooted fire?
I've been trying to figure this out. I can't stnad the stock keyboard. I'm going to try to alter settings when I get home tonight,.
Well I have thumb keyboard and swype installed on mine, but had to root for both, because you have to move around some apk files that can only be done through root. Finding out a way to install without root would be amazing, seeing as how my root was broken all thanks to the last update!:/

There is a thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1376333
Some have had luck. I got it to recognize the different input method and was able to select and open Swype but I kept getting force close, I haven't had a chance to go back and play with it.
I find the only real problem with the built-in keyboard is that you can't completely disable auto-suggest. What a headache if you attempt to use a messenger or write an email while using any type of slang.
Thanks for the reply. I decided to just flash CM7 though.

I just couldn't get the stock vlingo app working with my bluetooth when the screen is locked. Anyway, I've been searching and finally found the google voicedialer.apk that has worked so great for me on my old i9000 that works with the i727's ICS.
I got rid of the vlingo voice command and pushed this apk into /system/app. Cleared cache, rebooted and now I can make calls from my bluetooth with the screen locked.
I also installed google voice search from play store. Not sure if that's required but most likely it is.
It's attached if anyone wants it.
Thank you
I was looking for it, and you just shared, a really nice one.
regards,
edsphinx
This is what i was looking for nice and simple.
Vlingo is a battery hog!
Thanks...

It's great isn't it? I use it everyday with my bluetooth headset. I got this from one of the many ICS system/app dumps I downloaded and this was the only one that worked for me.
So many thanks!
This might be just what I am looking for!
I am a noob when it comes to Android. Could you please post detailed instructions?
Many thanks!

GoJ,
There's a few different ways but you first need to be rooted. Use Titanium Backup to remove vlingo (since this app may conflict with voicedialer). Backup vlingo in case you want to go back to it. Then you could use an app like Root Explorer or something similar to copy and paste the voicedialer.apk into /system/app. Clear dalvik cache (you can use TiBu for this as well or go into CWM) and reboot.
Hope that helps.
I downloaded this as well as several other versions of it and all i can get out of it is fore close. It activates, i speak, and it recognizes the contact, says its dialing and then bam fc and sometimes my phone locks up. Any suggestions? I tried clearing davlick and cache.
Thanks

Not sure if this version works, try it and let us know. I had a different version I was using for GB but it didn't work for ICS. I may have deleted it already but I'll see if I still have it.
Edit: Found it, here's the GB version I was using. Same instructions to install as before.
Thank you!

yes I installed. was easy except I had to save the .so file as no known program that I could find would open or install it including Snappea which I normally use for my apk files, 7zip, and Free File Viewer. so I mounted my phone, opened it as a viewable drive and copy/pasted it to my app folder on my sd. installed the other file via Snap, change permissions....followed the instructions, basically.
this launcher is sweet. it gives you lots of options, is easy to use, can uninstall apps and I don't know what all else without ever having to open your settings. the only complaint I might have would be that the icons on the folders are very small, a bit hard to see, but not a big deal as I think we all tend to memorize locations and content in our smart or regular type folders.
as far using it to install other roms, I have tried a bit using ROM Toolbox Pro and ROM Manager and no success as they want confirmation for CRM, and as I am sure you already know, there is no recovery currently available that I know of for the Event.
Also, as I viewed the files included in the download for the launcher, it came with and internet shortcut to SuperCharger, and I am gonna try that next, as it is supposed to work with all mods, stock or otherwise. description of this installer/launcher describes ability to use for the install of other mods but I need more information. this is the first android I have rooted and I am not ashamed to admit I am a green noob. I wish somebody would talk down to me and explain a bit better. as I peruse the forums i find a wealth of information but it is hard to put into action with some of the abbreviated instructions so prevalent from topic to topic. if you install and figure a way to mount jellycream, please advise, as i could use all the guidance available. much thanks and have fun. i will kudo this guy and see if he will point me in the right direction.
problem
A problem has emerged when I connect Event and turn on usb debug and mass storage. when the sd card becomes unavailable it turns all user/non-stock icons to little green android men on home page and changes app names to developer names. disconnect and reboot does not return icons or normal app names. tried to use Titanium Pro to restore but that didn't work either. any ideas?
bummer
I have tried everything, disabling stock launcher, and re-installing TouchWiz Home .apk 3 times, but every time I mount my phone as an external drive to load music all my non-stock apps turn to little green android men with mostly unidentifiable names. too bad as this was sweet. I am bummed out. nobody seems to be interested in this thread. would be nice to hear from developer... is there something I am doing wrong? ive checked the install on the .so, permissions... don't understand. please help. thanks. gonna have to uninstall in the mean time ;(
