Would this cheap travel charger work ? - Desire Accessories

as per subject:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/...&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=467198433&pf_rd_i=468294
One of the reviews states:
It can connect to four different power sockets - US, UK, Europe and Australia as shown in the picture and accepts any supply from 100 to 240V AC to give an output of +5V 1.0A DC. What may not be clear in the picture is that the cable is a detachable USB lead.

Should this work for the Desire ?

Assuming the review is accurate, yes it should be fine with a USB to MicroUSB cable.
Regards,
Dave

Thanks
The original TomTom charger is rated 5v 1.0A which is the same as the HTC..
So it should be OK

nokia have micro usb on some of their phones... i'm not 100% sure which models, 6500 Classic, 6555, 8600 Luna, 8800 Arte i think...
i use a car charger from the orange shop
I think the Toshiba because of its USB host is very picky about the charger it uses.
I have tried 3 now!
No name brand - 5v 500ma. Charges the phone just fine....but doesn't charge it quick enough, when navigating etc, it uses more power than it can charge
Blackberry 5v 500ma - lovely long cable length, better than the one above but same problem.....just drains a bit slower!
Samsung 5v 700ma - cable a bit short but charges the phone fantastically and works just fine!
Edit - Most phones from most of the major phone companies will support charging through micro USB. I wish they kept with mini usb.....micro is too flimsy!!
problem sorted
TG01, as well as nokia car charger, need to have the Rx and Tx pins shorted (connected together). so i opened my car usb charger and shorted the Data+ and Data- (Rx&Tx) pins and now everything is fine. i can use the usb cable as data cable, and when i connect it to my car usb charger, it starts charging!
hope this helps

your car charger should have a usb A connector like this

all you have to do is solder together pins 2&3
thanks bud - that was just what i needed to understand

Hi!!
Anyone can please say something!!!???
I really need a car charger.
(But I have 3 car charger and several HTC wall charger with mini USB
and I have one S200 for my private number/replacement for the TG01)
I bought from the ebay 1 converter (mini->micro usb) but don´t work in the TG01
(don´t have another phone with micro usb to test if the problem is in the converter or "tg01").
Can anyone share what converter I need to buy?
Thanks
For reference, I bought my wife a car charger for her Sony Vivaz from ebay, and it charges the TG01 just fine

Will this charger work?

I have an old generic USB travel charger which says:
100-240 volts AC
0.3A 50-60hz
Output 5.5vDC 1amp
Will it work? Nice if it does as it has US and European plug adaptors. Presumably it will as it just emulates a USB supply?

Yup, that's perfect for the Desire.

10' / 3 meter Data/Charging Cable that is -Almost as Good as Stock - for $7 shipped

I just got my 10' data/charging cable in from Amazon. It was $7 delivered via Amazon Prime.
Mediabridge Hi-Speed USB 2.0 - (10 Feet) - A-Male to Micro-B Cable
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00CTUIT20/ref=oh_details_o02_s01_i06?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I tested it on the stock charger vs. the stock charging cable. And both cables charged the phone at the same 1900 rate (see attached screenshots). :good:
This should hopefully mean the phone charges at the same speed regardless of which cable is used.
And I put the cable into my computer and didn't have any trouble transferring data files around.
The cable is about 50% thicker than stock cable and appears to be very nice quality. The Micro-USB connector end is a little tight when plugging into the Galaxy S4 port. The connector ends are the same length.
I'm not able to test audio functionality.
It doesn't matter which cable you use if you use the stock wall plug.

Does the connector fit thru the Neo Hybrid?
Yea, I think its the wall plug that actually does the fast charging we all know and love.
I don't trust that app. I get 1900 or just about every cable I've tried, but the charge time doesn't T match with the numbers. BMW shows more accurate measurements. Not as real time results

No. I had to trim mine with a xacto knife.
I am looking for a 1m black charging cable for my car than can deliver max current. The thinner the better, if possible.
Any suggestions?

Of course it does. You really have some reading to do if this is what you think.
Cable gauge and impedance of the connectors are the two hugest factors of a cable.

Yes and no.
You can get a wall-plug that has pins 2 & 3 shorted which does the fast charging.
Or you can use a standard charger and use a charging-only cable which has pins 2 & 3 shorted. Or you can modify your data/charge cable to be a charge-only cable.

Yeah, you're right that app was NOT accurate.
I found that you can view the file (see 1st attached pic) that shows you the correct charge rate, directly from the Android OS (battery_current_now). And this cable only charges at 1360. Which is still better than a Galaxy S3 stock charger/cable I believe.
So it's a good cable indeed. Just not gonna get a 1900 charge rate out of it.

thanks for that tip on the current_now file! i do agree on cables making a difference. the ones that don't pass are used only for my lower amp devices (which is down to almost none now!).

Similar wall usb charger specs, different times to full?

Oneplus one charger works best:
Input 100-240v ~ 50-60Hz 0.3A
Output 5v - 2A
But at night, the charger I use at that room is slower at:
Samsung travel adapter
Input 100-240v ~ 50-60Hz .35A
Output 5.0 - 2.0A
Could that .35A make it slower or even the usb cable being used with the samsung which is thinner and longer?

Its the cable's fault. If you use the same cable as the OPO charger, the charging time will not vary much.
The general rule is if you want to use a longer cable, it should be thicker.
Ex: a 6 foot cable should be at least 22 awg and ideally 20 awg. Although, the thicker the cable, the more rigid it is

Thanks I guess I should pick up a thicker usb cable to try out with samsung usb charger because I trust the specs on both chargers should charge the device just as fast using either one.

Absolutely right, both chargers should be able to do the same job. Just make sure when you purchase a new cable you pay close attention to the AWG rating of the cable.

Quick Charge 2.0/Adaptive fast charge - cable & charger specs ?

Hello all
I'm trying to understand the actual meaning behind the the Quick Charge 2.0
Let's start with the cable:
The only parameter is the AWG ( as I read the recommendtions are for 3 feet (1 meter) is 24/28 wire gauge) ?
There is no special chip or support by the cable (as apple has the MFI for their cables)?
I had good experience the original LG cable (the one that comes with G2,G3,G4) , and Nillkin Cable Universal Flat Micro USB .
Other recommends are for Monoprice cables...
Any other good recommendations ?
What is the recommend AWG for 6 feet? any good cables you know?
Let's go to the charger:
Does it's really matter if the charger marked as "quick charge 2.0" certification ?
Did you get quick charge 2.0 results with charger that is not marked as quick charge 2.0, just by using charger that (really) outputs 2.1A ?
What is specs for a good charger ?
I know it's a lot of questions, but I know that you are kind
Thanks!!
Anyone?
