Task manager - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Themes and Apps

Hi does anyone know of a better task manager which is available to select at the top of the main screen all the time, other than Arkswitch, lots of times now it crashes my phone and doesnt shut things down and completely locked me out of certain areas of my phone, or does anyone know where i can get the task manager which resides in the notifications menu when you click on the clock, ive seen it on certain roms but i would really like the cab.

TC / WM6 Quirks

Alright so a few quirks with the Cruise to see if anyone else has ideas or comments on this:
1) Clicking on the Mail icon in HTC Home has a delay before opening up the Account Selection screen. If I map the Messaging App to a button or launch it directly it opens super quick. So what gives, why is the Home plugin taking much longer to launch Messaging?
2) Phone dialer skin lag. This really annoys me when I see the screen getting painted when bringing up the dialer. I mean it's a phone, of all things why can't this work nicely. Other things work really smooth, why this?
3) Comm Manager exit. We all know it doesn't really exit and is probably a WM6 issue. Even when you click the exit soft button. The reason this is also annoying is because if the Comm Manager is launched for the first time, it opens up nicely without different parts of the screen getting painted. However if it's in memory and launched again, you see it painting different sections of the screen. If I go in and kill it and start it up again, no painting on the screen. What gives? How can I ensure that pressing exit actually stops the application?
Thanks!
Anyone have a solution to any of these quirks?
Alright, I will try bumping this thread one more time in the chance that someone might have some input on at least items 1 & 2. I have heard that item 3 might be solved by some of the ROMs out there, maybe bepe's.
With regards to point 2, I don't have a solution but I would imagine if there was a way to keep the phone dialer in memory and running in the background once its been opened for the first time - it may resolve the issue. i.e if it wasn't closed competely when it was finished with ...just an idea, not sure how you could implement it - will have to have a play.
Actually I find that's not always the case. For example the CommManager does the exact opposite. When the Comm Manager is in memory and you call it up again is when I see the screen painting slowly. If I am calling it for the first time is when it displays the screen in one shot.

Problem with Large Start menu on non HTC devices

hi there!
I downloaded JUVS HTC Large Titlebar and HTC Enlarge Start menu CABs and installed both on my E-TEN M800 (VGA).
They installed fine and I now have the "large start menu" item in my system settings.
But when I check the checkbox to turn it on, it still doesnt enlarge.
I rebooted the device and still nothing. I basically only need the zooming of the notification icons in the start-bar.
have I missed something? do i need additional files?
thanks
Bernhard
the old one just for QVGA, try this one, but dun know can it work on ETEN
thanks, but it doesn't work.
maybe it needs touchFLO so its only activated when you use the finger? or something like that?
No touchflow wouldnt make a difference on this. Unfortunatly some of the items on here will only work with HTC devices and i think this may well be one of them im afraid. Unless anyone else can shed any light
Tried the Large Start Menu once on my iPAQ, and what I found was that the service (htcStartMenuService.dll) doesn't automatically start. Using DotFred's Taskmanager to manually start the service made the large start menu appear... until the next soft reset.
The same thing probably happens with the large titlebar thing.
thanks ridolfo, this works!
now i have to find a way to start it automatically on reboot
makes my e-ten even more userfriendly!
edit: i just added this nice and useful taskmanager to my StartMenu and on reboot, i open it, go to the services tab and click the little start icon for the LargeTitleBar service. thats it.
works like a charm.
IIRC, you can even open it on the services tab, using a command-line switch. Have a look in the "About" screen for possible command-line switches (I think it's in the "About" screen, but I'm not sure).
I'm still hoping that someone can explain why some of the HTC services do auto-start, but others don't.
yes, because when you install the LargeTitleBar it correctly creates its entry in the Registry and is bound to be started, but somehow it doesnt.
In my brand new HTC Touch Cruise, large menu option is ticked, but after playing around with apps or settings it becomes small, allthough it's still ticked. I have to disable and reenable it to make it big again. It's a bit of a problem, as it happens often. Advice would be appreciated.
same problem
couldn't this problem be fixed by some registry entires ?
I mean to put an application into autostart shouldn't be a problem, well for me, as a hardcore newp it is acutally, but maybe not fo you guys
on my xperia x1 i've got the same problem .

Hi! at all!
Have you found a solution?

TouchFlo3D conflicting with QuickMenu/SmallMenu

Anyone had any luck getting eithe of these working alongside TF3D?
The task switching doesn't work, most the time instead of taking you to the app you click on, it drops you into TF3D. Everything else works apart from this (the bit I use most). With TF3D turned off, it works fine.
I've using a trial of Wisbar Advance Lite for now, see if I get used to it's different way of doing it, but at leat it seems to work.
Anyone had any luck, or else just seeing the same behaviour?
I've got the same problem with Quickmenu v2.7 i could'nt switch between tasks either.
Also from the close apps menu there an items called "start" and you cannot close it that annoys me a bit to.
I don't use it for now untill i find a better app or newer version of Quickmenu.
Start.exe is I believe linked to TF3D, but even setting it to hide in QuickMenu didn't help, the same thing still happens. Still, nice to have confirmation it's not just me.
Wisbar Lite seems ok, but it would still be nice to have QuickMenu or SmallMenu back...
damn i love quickmenus hopefully someone gets it to work i want this phone once its out
has anyone tried it lately or have it working?

Start.exe is Manila and if you end this it restarts back your tfl3d.
I can confirm that sometimes some tasks are dropped right back to the touchflo3d screen but on a few occasions only. I have noticed that if you click on them longer, it finally restores the application.
I have since switched to wisbar advanced because of the other benefits and mainly fancy stuff not to mention to use some of TP's power it has a lot.

I had no problems hiding start.exe. Just make sure that after adding to the exclude list you select 'hide both' radio button (I hope I remember the terms correctly)

Yes, it's 'Both not' and you have to scroll down to see it...

Alternative to wkTask?

At this point I don't care if icons show on the top bar (love it but I can settle for something else). I just want to be able to see and close software that is up and the HTC task manager loves to hide it. Thanks!

PRBar works great. I have been using it for a while. (Since the HTC Wizard) It shows up with drop down arrow where the clock would be. It also has the ability to show you the free ram, and time on the taskbar. It has a tiny footprint too so you dont have to worry about a memory hog. I have noticed that on some builds it can slow manila down so check it out and if it works ok, if it doesn't just delete the exe file (after you close pbar of course). All you have to do is run the exe file and tap the options to enable it to run after a soft reset among other options. Hope you like it.
Thanks. I did try it but I didn't like that is was sort of hard to click on the tiny icon. I am thinking I would just take some programs off of the exclusive list on HTC task manager. Gotta find which ones that will be safe (definetly want to do activesync/repog or whatever).
What problem/conflict are you having with wkTask? I've used it for a long time and I'm wondering what sort of problem you're having.
It would close the start menu and I wouldn't be able to get settings. I think I did a fix for it but then I forgot if something else went wrong. I might try again though.
oh yeah Start menu would show up even when I said to hide it. It would hide it but then show up again. It was annoying. would love if someone took over it and get it working perfectly with 6.5

I know what you are talking about but you don't have to tap precisely on the downward arrow. Just tap and hold next to that arrow on the empty space on the taskbar and it brings up the menu. I never even touch that arrow...lol. Maybe that will make it more useful for you...lol.
I love WKTask but it hasn't been updated in a long time. It closes Start if you hit X in the start menu on 6.5 and you have to reboot the phone to get it back. I love how easy it is to switch between tasks using it though and the battery bar at the top.

Oh lol did not try that. I switched back to HTC task manager and getting real used to it now. But I might check out pbar again with those important instructions.
rsbrown here is how you fix that problem. I still don't like that the start menu shows up (even when I hide it, it comes back( so I am done with wktask...

Battery Widget -> Show what is using it up

I had a battery widget on my screen, which I swear was on the phone before I downloaded any apps. Maybe I am going nuts. It did not show %, but it showed bars.
The nice thing was when I clicked on it it would open up a page showing what apps were using the battery.
I pulled it off the screen, and now cannot find it to put back.
Anyone see anything like that?
It was on the phone when you got it? I just got it yesterday and never saw anything like that....hmmm...
Are you sure you're thinking of a widget rather than going to Settings, About Phone, then Battery Use?
Well, since posting a few min ago, I found that. But I did have an icon on my desktop that I could call that very thing with. But darned if I know how I got it there.
I've been messing with this thing so much, I'm going brain dead.I was having problems a bit ago remembering which app I used to check on available memory. But finally remembered it was Advanced Task Killer.
Long press on the desktop like you were going to add a widget or wallpaper. Choose Shortcut instead, then scroll down to Settings, click it, then choose Battery Use.
That'll put a nice little battery/magnifying glass icon on your desktop, click it and it does what it says, just like you'd went into Settings/About Phone/Battery Use.
And notice some of the other quick and handy shortcuts you can make, besides the wealth of those found in the Settings part.
Well, I am pretty sure that is how I got it there. It has disappeared from the list, so I can no longer install it.
So I guess the real question is what determines what is in that list.
Hmmm....I wonder if that is a Samsung widget, which won't work with Launcher Pro.
....
Nope, I don't see it no matter which launcher I select. I wonder what else is missing.

I'm a dork today. I found it. And if I had slowed down and read Croak's reply and paid attention he had the answer.
What I was skipping was selecting Settings after going into the shortcuts. I was thinking that was the settings ICON to open general settings.
