[TIPS] Hulu (yeah yeah..) - Nexus One Themes and Apps

On your phone go to hulu.com/widget/player/videos and enjoy!
(make sure user agent is desktop)

Out of curiosity is this hulu allowing us to use their site or is this a workaround?

It says that I am trying to access Hulu using and anonymous proxy tool.. and will not allow me to watch videos in what seemed to be a quite efficient video player.
Is it possibly because I installed the modified Flash.apk that this is happening?

nice, works for me. thanks

just for general information: my user agent was already set to desktop, and i still got the proxy message. I hit about:debug / settings / uasring / i re-hit desktop / reloaded page and it worked!
great find!
*side note* Now don't screw this one up for us Engadget!!!

works great, had to re apply desktop setting before it would work though

Beautiful
Using Skyfire as desktop, absolutely perfect. Nice find.

This is simply awesome, hope it doesn't get discovered and ruined!

Sorry for the stupid question, but how do I set my user agent to desktop?
Nevermind, got it!

Type about:debug into the stock browsers address bar, then click settings, some more options have been opened up. At the bottom of the list you will find user agent, set to desktop and enjoy Hulu, but be prepared to repeat this process after each time you close the browser...or you could use dolphin or xscope, which give you the option in default settings

Works like a champ. Gad bless hulu on N1.

works perfect on the Dolphin HD browser
works perfect on the Dolphin HD browser... the iPhoners at work are dying... I can see it all over there faces... they are watching me watch family guy... lol.... steve jobs has got to be pissed...
Thank again...

works great

No longer working for me
Was working fine... now I get a message saying that it looks like I am using a proxy. Anyone else having this issue?

still works for me. you have to re-apply the desktop agent settings then refresh.

Glad everyone likes, now just keep it between us lol.

Just use Skyfire browser or Dolphin and set it to desktop. Then you don't have to keep typing debug crap every time . Double tap full screen. Works really good.

How do you set the "User Agent" to desktop?
I'm new to this whole thing and I know this is a stupid question so go easy on me. How do you set the User Agent to desktop so I can watch Hulu on my phone? It's an HD2 and I have IE, Opera, and Skyfire.

FLASH WORKS! FLASH WORKS! FLASH WORKS!
HAHA haven't been this excited since the 'ol WinMo days.
Don't expect the speed of Opera, that hasn't changed w/ this Android port....but for functionality, can't beat it.
Beta?
Only one I see says beta after it. Is that it?

FC. will try uninstall-reinstall....
You can also download it from Android Market.
Can't wait to try this, loved it on my WinMo phone.

I tried to post this reply on my phone but skyfire keeps force closing when I pointed to text boxes...
Installed and uninstalled. Slower and more cluttered than the stock browser.
Maybe the full release will be better.
Pass. Plus Flash already works on my phone.
This browser seems better than stock, but not as fast as Dolphin overall. Better Flash support sounds good to me though.
This browser is the closest I have come to being able to play my Slingbox on Android... The Slingbox website thinks I am on Mac OSX.
Despite not being rejected at the directory page(like every other android browser), it doesn't show my Slingbox.
i got the daily show to play from it's website so I'm happy, hulu = fail and so does abc.com shows

Off Topic, but along these lines.
The Facebook touch website says "Download facebook for your Ruth" instead of "Download facebook for your Hero"
WTF is that about???? LOL
out of all the browsers,
great for speed-opera
great versatility-dolphin
ease of use-stock
sky fire is okay but its not better than any of these in their respective categories
on a side note has anyone tried fennec(firefox mobile) i cant get it started
What I'm stoked and waiting anxiously for is Opera Mobile. Loved it on my Vogue and dont see why I wouldnt on my Hero.

That's probably due to the fact that all your data is being sent through a Skyfire proxy. Yup. You're revealing your browsing habits and data to Skyfire.
Yeah, the way skyfire works is that everything is rendered on their server and then sent to your phone. So, websites that detect hardware or location will end up detecting skyfire's hardware and location instead of yours. It also means that a copy of your facebook page is now cached on skyfire's server!

Google Chrome to Phone

Do you use Google Chrome to Phone. I just read a review about it. Chrome to Phone isn’t a new product — I’ve been using it since May. Chrome to Phone is a simple combination of a Chrome extension and Android application that allows you to click one button in your browser, and sync what you were viewing right to your Android phone to be check out at a later time.
Reading a news article but need to head out the door to drive to work? Simply click the Chrome to Phone button on your Chrome browser, launch the Chrome to Phone application on your Android device at work, and it immediately takes you to the webpage you were viewing at home so you can pick up right where you left off. I use this feature all the time, and assume many of you would as well.
Google Chrome to Phone lets you easily share links, maps, and currently selected phone numbers and text between your computer running Chrome and your phone.
Very handy! When using your computer’s browser, right-click on an image/link & send that link/image to phone. I used it just now to send an .mp3 link of a 101Mb DJ set to my phone – very simple! Very little hassle…

If you are having problems with chrome in xda, first try running the browser in porn mode with your extensions off to make sure it's not one of them...
I had a world of troubles using adblock with some sites in chrome, and in the end decided i'd rather deal with ads then try to sort out exceptions for each of those sites.
I use Fox To Phone (Firefox version of Chrome To Phone) and it works beautifully.

[Q] Web Browser Issue

I have several websites for work that require Microsoft internet explorer. I have tried firefox beta, skyfire, stock browser, opera. None of these work. Is there any browsers that emulate MS IE?
Can you share the reason why those sites require m$ ie?
Activex content, asp.net?
Yes, you will need to provide further info..... As in how do you get the stock browser to open desktop versions of a web site which by default are opening in wap format?
Certainly for Windows update

I'm wondering the same thing for my work sites. Not sure what causes them to not work. If someone feels like trying it out, http://caf.oeconnection.com is one to start with... Thanks in advance, and sorry for the hijack.

Well that's easy! Enter about:useragent and select Desktop.
It may well be that a custom useragent will help the OP, if he uses an IE useragent string. Probably won't though!

internetbrowser only showing mobile versions

Hello dear people
i just got my HTC sensation and im getting a really nasty problem:
my phone shows only internetpages in mobile view and even i chance settings not to show up mobile view, it does it though!!
has anybody the same Problem oder can anybody help me out with this issue?
Help is greatly appreciated!
While I am still using my Nexus One, as the release of the sim-free Sensation is almost a full month in the future - and therefore can't say if there is a settings toggle that would solve your problem:
Dolphin HD is a great alternative to the default browser, it allows for changing the user agent which will allow you to view all sites in default desktop-view: https://market.android.com/details?id=mobi.mgeek.TunnyBrowser&feature=search_result
Most mobile versions of popular websites really are rubbish, and many of them miss the basic functionality of efficiently switching to their sites desktop view.

Well thanks for this answer, tried the dolphin browser and surprisingly it works on this browser
Think i gonna use this browser in future so problem is basically solved.
Now i got a new problem: all wallpaper which i tried to use wont scroll on the home screen not even those wallpapers which are saved on the phone on standard... can anybody help me out? On my old desire, all wallpapers are scrolling!
some sites force mobile sites automatically no matter what. look on the page for a link to view full site. maybe that'll help?
On some sites there are links for the full site indeed but i dont want to always cklick these links first. On my old desire all pages are displayed in desktop view wenn i disable the mobile view in the browser settings. On my sensation it always shows all page in mobile view whatever i set the option to. But with dolphin browser it works and by the way im starting to like this browser more then the standard one
To my second problem, can anybody tell me why wallpapers wont scroll one the home menu on sensation?

From my experience even if you uncheck mobile in browser settings some sites still come up as mobile. My solutions to this is I type the full web address of the site I want to visit. As In www.wisn.com. Every since I started typing the full web address into the stock browser all sites come up as the full website. When I found this out I uninstalled dolphin. Hopes this helps.
Edit:
Besides the full web address typing, I found some decent info while searching threw Google and posted a thread in general. It might help or it might not. But its something you might want to check out and give it a shot.

This actually doesn't do anything unless you select the option for Manual UA string and enter the code manually, but either way, it reverts on reboot.

Android browser that saves my username and password and default to desktop browser?

I just want to read my emails and my calendar from my galaxy s7 edge, but my university makes it difficult by requesting that we all to use Inportal on our phones, which I don't want to install due to huge battery drains and slowing that my colleagues have experienced.
I can easily circumvent the problem with google chrome by just going into the desktop mode and voila! I have everything I want.
It even saves all of my log in information too so it is perfect!!! EXCEPT...google chrome always wants to default back to the android mode which is blocked by my university since it is not seen as a desktop. When I save the site to my home screen as an icon to get into my email, it defaults back to android but I have no way to change it back to desktop
My question....Either how can I keep my google chrome to be on the desktop setting and not revert to android. Note that I am NOT rooted, but almost always my login information is already entered.
There are lots of apps that will let me default to the desktop browser but they won't save my username and password, which is a pain because our passwords have to be very difficult to type in all the time.
A browser that would allow me to save my login information so I don't have to re type it AND default to desktop browser would be ideal!! Any suggestions?
Sorry if in the wrong forum and thanks for helping!!
Mike

I tried Opera but I uninstalled it. Maybe I didn't use the synchronization options. How would I go about that?
First, Make an opera account. Then Log in to your Opera account on ALL devices. B4 u log out u 'll see the browser data sync automatically. If not, go to data sync.
Make sure u click from the options the 'on the go' if its not by default.
If anything doesnt work properly visit Opera help page to see if on your pc or mobile is an any option disabled.
Good luck!

Hello,
Firefox saves passwords and users, but you need to press the request each time you want to change to desktop but it's easy you don't need to scroll.

I tried the one for Firefox. The only problem with that is it it always looks like the desktop view when I look at it. All the other ones I try login as a desktop view but they'll steal look like the Android view which I want. Firefox I could never get to do that. But thank you!
What happened exactly?
Reboot phone and try to reopen it
You can just use puffin when you need to
