I saved the APK, doesn't work very well though, seems as if although scores and on base stuff loads in the main menu and refreshes to be up to date, no option to click on the games to listen to the live audio or go for more in depth stats. I am sure there is an update needed for it to work on Froyo as it could be possibly restricted by the firmware version number to prevent users from experiencing un-tested bugs? Most likely will update once Froyo comes out to the public from Google directly (so the devs have some time to play with the new sdk).

Re: mlb at bat app not showing up in market after froyo update...
I've got the same problem with Homerun Battle 3D, I guess I'll just have to wait...

Contacted Com2uS (the developers of HB 3D) and they said the issue is with Google?? and that I need to get in touch with them to resolve the issue.
Is this a bug with the new Market?

The version of froyo that was released was only meant for devices that were sent out as demo/review so google hasn't enabled protected apps for some reason.

There's a fix over in the developers section of N1 with a thread specifically for this... I had the same problem till I did this......

Off topic, but can you watch games on the android version of MLB At Bat? or that that just the iphone/ipad versions? Thanks!

only the iphone verison, which makes no sense since they have live highlights updating while the game is on

Application Updates to Avoid

I thought I'd put up a thread for people to post applications that you might not want to update. Many of us just blindly apply updates on cruise control every time we see them but sometimes that isn't the best course of action. This is for applications that add ads, take away features (in order to put them in pay versions), or decrease reliability. If anyone is aware of a site or better collection of info, please let me know and I will link to it. If you disagree with me (or someone else), post up as well.
- ASTRO File Manager v2.5.2 - adds ads, old version nags to update
unless you google for the pro apl. =]
j/k
Astro v2.5.1 may be set to expire if I recall. Either way I bought the Pro when it became available @ $3. I don't mind paying for someone's work, especially for a product I find far above other's in it's category that I've used.

true that. im gonna download an official version since its worth it.
Root explorer is better IMO.
Shazam 1.3 -> 2.0
Version 2.0 now requires a subscription to lift the 5tags/month limit.
Listen 1.1.3 introduces ask sorts of weird bugs especially with bluetooth headsets. Sticking on 1.1.2 for now.

Does anyone have the 1.3 version of Shazam? I flashed my phone to Fresh and I forgot to back it up.

Really? Thanks, was not updating because I was positive that was what the change was.
Anyone else confirm this?

I'm looking for the hit the penguin game from MTM HZSTUDIO version 1.0 or 1.0.1. The dev started changing the looks and sounds of the game. People loved it and were begging him to revert back to old version that they loved. Dev kept changing the game, gameplay, graphics, and sounds anyways.

I should make myself archive apps and label them BEFORE updating! More times than not, I found that I should have not updated because of one reason or another. At first I thought it was stupid to keep old versions, but now I see why that can be a good thing.
here's 1.3
Quote From the Shazam Blog....
"We’ve dedicated this blog post to help resolve any misunderstanding around the continutation of free unlimited tagging for our original users who downloaded Shazam on Android Market before 13th July 2010.
To give you some background, our original Shazam on Android app (version 1) was a great success, quickly becoming one of the most popular downloads on Android Market. In gratitude to our version 1 users who supported us, we decided to adopt a ‘grandfathering’ approach, giving them the best of both worlds – the continuation of unlimited tagging, together with all the great features in our new release (version 2.0). This offer is for the life of their current device.
So how does it work?
Shazam has two consumer offerings:
Shazam: A free to download app supported by advertising, with core functionality and ability to identify up to 5 songs per month
Shazam Encore: A premium version of the app with no advertising, unlimited tagging and additional features.
If you downloaded the free version of Shazam prior to the 13th of July 2010 and tagged at least one song, you can update to the latest version of Shazam and still receive unlimited tagging.
Shazam is supported by advertising, so our existing version 1 users who downloaded 2.0 will still see adverts on their device but still keep unlimited tagging. Grandfathered users can of course purchase Shazam Encore to enjoy the Shazam experience without advertising.
Users who downloaded version 1 and tagged at least one song, but subsequently removed/uninstalled the application also keep unlimited tagging when they download the latest version – you do not have to keep the old version on your phone for unlimited tagging to remain. Users can also uninstall and reinstall 2.0 without affecting their grandfathered- status.
We hope this post has helped clarify things. If you’d like find out more about our Android app, please visit our website and check out the FAQ page."
Most recent Qik update breaks Sense. I'm surprised no one has posted about this before. Roll Qik back by Uninstalling Update in Applications to get rid of the problem.
It shows up as the phone not remembering what to do when you press the home button. It will ask you what launcher to use every time you do a long press regardless if you check the remember box.
You don't wanna update Google Voice if you have the number picked for unlimited calling.

Official Netflix App Now Supports Honeycomb

You should now be able to see it in the Market.
Current version is 1.5.0
No discernable changes from 1.4.1 though so not exactly a Honeycomb-optimized application yet.
Yeah a pleasant surprise to see it in my list of apps needing update.
The latest update to the Netflix app now officially supports access in Canada. Tested on my Transformer and Nexus S. It does not appear to be optimized for tablets in terms of taking advantage of the screen realestate, but at least it finally works without having to mess around with VPNs to access streaming outside the U.S.
I can't seem to find it on the Market anywhere even searching for Netflix doesn't come upwith anything
I have this problem with other apps. For me it was caused by the ROM that I was using. The Prime ROM seems to be better for me than the Revolution HD. What ROM are you using?
EDIT - just checked and my TF running Prime 2.0.4 doesn't show the app either.
EDIT 2 - Try the online market. It worked for me!

Yeah I saw the update in "My Apps" and it let me updated but it's not in the market.
Does show on the PC market
Still doesn't work on mine
downloaded with dolphin browser and installed. working for me, finally. I live in Canada too so i didnt have to go with going through a US server.
About Time!!
Man I'm so happy. No more side loading or patching!!
Great I was not having any luck with the VPN route ....
Glitchy playback.
So has anyone noticed that although the 1.5 version of Netflix's video is sharper, the play back is glitch compared to the 1.4.1 version?
It's so glitchy that I've opt to stay with the 1.4.1 and suffer the "update available" messages.
BTW, I'm running 3.2.1 unrooted version of HoneyComb.

[Q] Should I update to the new android market or not?

I'm running stock 2.3.3 and I'm still on the old market software (2.3.4). Will my handset update to the new market automatically? Are there any benefits to the new market besides the improve GUI? (I'm desperately hoping the search is improved!)
As much I'd like the fancy new look of the new market, I'm wary of updating due to the new auto-update feature in case my phone has a dodgy eMMC. Is there anyway to disable the auto-update feature before it gets chance to start?
Please note, the new market is very very slow...
Not much of an upgrade apart from the visual changes

The earlier versions of the new market were slow, eg 3.1.5, but the new one is much better, i.e. 3.3.11
Plus, the new version prevents simultaneous installs and crashes, with apps being installed sequentially. I've been flashing new ROMs with the new market, and my apps all reinstall automatically, i've never faced a hangup yet!
Plus, the new market gives you a one-click abort to stop installation of all apps in one go... unlike the old one where you had to cancel each app one by one... Also, there is the option to only update when on wifi. Saves mobile data package and if you have that option checked, and you're not on wifi, your apps wont update at all!!
I would definitely recommend the new market.
The good news is that the new version had a setting to disable auto updates.
The bad news is that Oli is right. For the sake of a fancy UI, it's slower, laggy, and will frequently tell you updates are available for apps when in fact they are not. The latest version 3.3.11 is slightly better than previous efforts, but i still have to abort updates, clear data, and get false update notifications.
If you are on stock and not rooted, google will be pushing this polished turd onto your phone soon.

Yeah, I forgot to mention that wnp
It is slightly better with the new 3.3.11 compared to 3.x.x but could still do with a speed boost!
Market 3.2.0 was just released a few days ago! Wonder what changes it brings!
@enigmaamit wow never knew that! So are you saying that it could be safe to hit auto update on all apps, as it does it one by one? No more chance of a fried Emmc chip?

Yup, i've updated around 15 apps at one go, and the install occurs sequentially instead of simultaneously.
No issues so far (four different ROM flashes with the new market)
The biggest issue for me with the 3.x markets is that "compatibility check" of the application with the device registered. Since there are not too many of you complaining, I presume you are not using a non-standard screen density. If you do it, market will show for many application the "application is not compatible..." message and you're not allowed to download it. 240 screen density (standard for HDPI devices) is too big for my taste, I prefer something like 200-210. In this case alot of applications designed for HDPI cannot be installed (Skype for ex is one of them, but there are many).
Adding this on top of the slowness of the new market, makes me using the "old" 2.3.6 version which is perfect. Unfortunately this version was giving FCs with the ICS ROM I've tested (the alpha from superkid) so I am wondering if it will work at all on ICS or I should be forced to upgrade to the latest market (which is something I don't want).
If somebody finds out a way to bypass this compatibility check, please share, it is very annoying
Thanks for your input guys. I think I'm going to wait until the new market is pushed to my phone. Hopefully by then some more of the bugs might have been worked out. I'm in no rush.

[Q] SKY GO App - anyone with root have it working?

Hello, This post is intended for users where the following list of conditions below are true, although I'm obviously more than happy for any others to put in any input....
You own a Desire S
You live in the UK
You have a SKY TV subscription (or the house you live in does)
You have a SKY ID user login and have registered your device to access SKY Go
You have installed the SKY GO applicaton
Your device is rooted
You are running a GB based ROM (ie not ICS)
SKY have written then application so that it won't work on rooted devices, even though some people on other devices have managed to bypass this. Some users have had success in using the application OTA RootKeeper which backs up and then hides a devices root (su) - which out of interest will permit rooted users from successfully using Google Play (aka The market) for downloading and watching movies.
No matter what I do now, use the hide root (su) app which works fine, clear the data from SKY Go, de-install it and then re-install the app, when I put in my SKY ID credential I always get the following erorr "PIN Error You have entered an incorrect PIN" (see attachment for screen shot) even though there is no PIN to enter as part of the setup (its not related to my SKY box PIN as that is working fine and I've configured SKY Go to not require any age restrictions)
I would really love to resolve this as want to be able to watch Football from my wonderful device when I'm away from home, and I can't even consider returning my phone to stock in case anyone suggests that.
This application annoyingly hasn't yet been updated by SKY to function on any ICS ROMs.
This is the official link to the SKY Go App thread but is is multi device and therefore in excess of 50 pages with greater than 1500 posts mostly of people saying doesn't work on my device...so I thought I would trap up my local resources (eg you).
[APP] Sky Go for Android (UK ONLY)
As always many thanks to anyone that's even read this far , let alone who bothers to add anything....Cheers
Much as I'd love to help you mate, I'm kinda stuck. It turns out that you can only use Sky Go if you re a direct Sky customer - no use to me as I subscribe through my Virgin Media package. Bit peed-off at that discovery to be fair.
The app fires up OK on my Desire, but I obviously can't sign in. I'm going to chat to a mate of mine about 'borrowing' his Sky details so I can test it on my phone and I'll let you know if I get anywhere with it.

That would be much appreciated. When I first downloaded the Sky Go app I was able to log into it ok, but I was unable to access the channels through it (as the device was rooted).
At that point I had an entry in the Settings-> Accounts & Sync for Sky Go
If I now attempt to add the sky go account through settings add account, when logging in with the correct credentials (that work on the sky website) I also get the same PIN error as shown in the attached screen shot on post #1
it seems that since I've un-installing and re-installing the app (or it may have been auto updated by the market) I can't seem to get that account back as I get the PIN error on entering my sky credentials now, even though previously they went into the app without any issues.
Let me know if you get hold of your mates SKY details and that would assist greatly, this may be a non-starter but would appreciate at least one other person trying!
Thanks

Errhhgg!! bloody iBollox, unfortunately I know it works on that pile of ####...thanks all the same though.
For some stupid reason SKY have had an iPhone application for years and have only just realised that the majority of the world actually uses Android so have finally released a poor quality Android based application (which doesn't even work on ICS showing their real level of commitment and the degree in which they're taking Android seriously!)
My selfish prime concern - is all about rooted GB though, much appreciated that you're willing to try to give it a go though....Much Thanks

Ok, sorry for the late reply!
Believe me, it wasn't my choice on the iPad
I'm already frustrated with the lack of homescreen customization on it! And lack of utility apps (widgets, shortcuts etc)
Ok, didn't get a chance to try it on the Sky Go app, I can't find the bloody ID stuff, so instead I downloaded Google Movies.
This app requires you to NOT be rooted.
I ran the app first, and it came up saying I couldn't use it, as I was rooted...
Then I ran the app you said, and 'disabled' root. Then I ran Google movies, and it is working now! It's detected my device as unrooted! I didn't even reboot after 'disabling' or close the Movie app!
So, the app definetly works... But I couldn't test it on Sky GO, only Google Movies. But the sane theory should apply right? Maybe you could try it on Google movies? Then we can See whether it May just be sky Go not detecting.
Hope that is of some help!
(Running Endymion)

Some screenshots if it helps!
1) I first ran play movies app
2) I used the app to 'unroot/disable root' the device
3) I ran Google play movies, and it worked!
Appreciate the effort Oly,
Unfortunately I'd already tried the un rooting and google market
Was just the sky id and sky go bit that I needed verifying
From home using your sky box which will show your viewing card number and other details that along with some personal stuff like name and address should enable you to get a sky id setup
In order to test sky go or no go as it's been for me
No hurry, thanks all the same
Fortunately my wife has an un rooted DS so I can use her phone if I need, but you know how it is, I want it to work on mine

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=22740104
Sent from a Desire S waiting for Kernel 3. WAKE UP HTC!!!!
I don't get the pin error so can't help with that.
I can open the app and view channels but they just buffer at 0% forever. With the exception of sky new which restarts the app.
I tried flashing a pre rooted stock rom and hiding root using voodoo and I was able to watch sky news but premium channels still didn't work. From reading the thread in the android application and games folder it looks like you need to edit the default.prop within the kernel as well as hide root.
I don't have a clue how to do this but I'm going to give it a go when I get time later! Hopefully we can get it working I'm surprised more people aren't working on this as it has the potential to be one of the best android apps out there

Looks I have to use a stock based rom so have edited a stock rom just about to flash here's hoping it works!
A stock ROM that is a Bugger, I love Endy too much to move from it
Swyped from my DesireS
I know what you mean mate but for Sky Sports on my my phone I think I can live with it!
I have attached the modified boot.img if you want to try it I can confirm it is working for me using Hyperion V2.1 with the boot.img modified and root hidden using voodoo
Well that's well worth it, brilliant work.....THANKS
If only I hadn't recently deleted my old backup of that ROM, I suspect one may still be on my PC
I wonder how it checks to see if we're on stock? Did you see if it works on stock sense v3.0?
Is it worth editing the build.prop file and replacing values, in an attempt to fool it further? without having to switch bases?
When I get an opportunity (probably the weekend) I'll try that.
Swyped from my DesireS
I used Hyperion v2.1 and changed so.secure to 1 within the default.prop in the kernel.
Great Rom on its own anyway think i'll just stick with this until another solution is found.
Here is a link to download it from my dropbox. http://db.tt/VISCrZ2y
Let me know if you managed to get it to work on Endy!
Just hide root BEFORE you install the sky go app and it should work fine.
I am using CM9 but still cant get this to work I have tried hiding root and using the modded skygo but still no luck. really do not want to go back to stock rom.
I am guessing nobody has had any more joy with this?

[Q] Anyone having trouble with Humble Bundle games?

I've noticed a few games from the Humble Bundles that don't work.
So far, these games crash on startup:
- Avadon: The Black Fortress ( EDIT: I did get this one to work by downloading the apk from the humble bundle website. When I do it from the Humble app, it crashes)
- Five Nights at Freddy's
- Ticket to Ride
- Anomaly Korea
- The Bards Tale
Could this be a problem with 64 bit? Or Lollipop itself?
I've tried Surgeon Sim and Leos fortune. Both of which are working great
I've had problems with some Humble Bundle Games. It could be for a number of reasons. Remember, it's no different to finding software on windows doesn't work on new versions for <insert reason here>. It could be the runtime switch from Dalvik to ART or just the way it's compiled. I'm not 100% sure if all the major Android releases are backwards compatible. Lollipop is certainly a massive overhaul compare to some previous launches.
I'm guessing broken apps will need to be re-built against Android 5.0. I'm sure this'll happen over time to the import and oft-used apps.
I've launched games from Humbled Bundle no problem, I think Beats Hazard (sp?) flagged an error saying there might be a problem, but it actually ran okay. I can't remember which game it was, but it seemed to fire up and then just disappeared. CTD.
Add Anomaly Korea and The Bard's tale to the list
I suspect this is going to be a 64 bit issue. If it uses NDK, then it probably needs to be rebuilt for 64 bit.
