Intent.ACTION_PICK to pick an image in other directory - General Questions and Answers

Hello Android Developers,
The following code allows me to pick an image only from /sdcard/DCIM/
Camera/, using the following lines:
Intent myIntent = new Intent(Intent.ACTION_PICK,
android.provider.MediaStore.Images.Media.INTERNAL_CONTENT_URI);
startActivityForResult( myIntent, 475);
How can I make it look in a different directory, to pick an image from
there? I have searched for the solution for a full day, could not find one...
Thanks in advance,
FalcoApps

help requested, anyone?

Last chance anyone?, otherwise, I'll need to rewrite the code to use another method, less intelligent...

Putting togeter exe from wm6 image (noob)

Hi,
Following this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=310287 I created a dump directory for a WM6 image. Inside the SYS directories are a number of subdirectories. Some of these subdirectories have familiar names (e.g. calendar.exe). Using calendar.exe as an example, there are 5 files: imageinfo.bin, imageinfo.txt, S000, S001, and S002. Here are my questions:
1. What are these 5 files?
2. What tool would I use to put the folder together to create a single executable?
Sorry for the noob questions but I can't find the answer on the forums!!
OK, after trying out all of the tools in one of the bundles, I found the answer to the second question:
2. Within someone's kitchen tools (I don't remember which one I downloaded) was a file called recmod.exe. Run it with the folder as a parameter and it will put the exe together.
I still don't have the answer as to what those 5 files are though.
My terms may be off base but I'll try to explain what these files are as I understand it (and hopefully not look stupid in the meantime as I'm also trying to explain it in layman's terms).
Many core files are constructed like this so that they are optimized in the Rom to make them run more efficiently on our devices.

Android NDK r5 - stdio.h : sys/cdefs.h not found !

Hello,
Sorry for my bad english...
I try to build a native application but i get a linkage problem.
Code:
...
/usr/src/android-ndk-r5/toolchains/arm-eabi-4.4.0/prebuilt/linux-x86/bin/arm-eabi-gcc -c -g -I/usr/src/android-ndk-r5/build/platforms/android-r5/arch-arm/usr/include test.c -o test.o
In file included from test.c:1:
/usr/src/android-ndk-r5/toolchains/arm-eabi-4.4.0/prebuilt/linux-x86/bin/../lib/gcc/arm-eabi/4.4.0/include-fixed/stdio.h:50:23: error: sys/cdefs.h: No such file or directory
/usr/src/android-ndk-r5/toolchains/arm-eabi-4.4.0/prebuilt/linux-x86/bin/../lib/gcc/arm-eabi/4.4.0/include-fixed/stdio.h:51:24: error: sys/_types.h: No such file or directory
...
I don't found sys/cdefs.h or sys/_types.h, there is juste sys/types.h exists, no other standard lib...
Can someone help me to clarify this situation ?
* Does Google forgot to put include on NDKr5 zip ?
* Or it's normal and so where can i found thems (cdefs.h & co) ?
Thanks a lot
Molux
Did you ever get an answer to this post. I have the same issue
A little late but these are outside of the actual toolchain, I found mine here...
-I/../AndroidNDK/android-ndk-r6/platforms/android-9/arch-arm/usr/include
why i no found folder 'arm-eabi-4.4.0' in ndk/toolchains ?
It's an old question, but it ranked high on Google searches, so the answer below may help a frustrated programmer or two:
Assume you just want to build a simple hello world application, and don't want to bother yourself with Makefiles.
Or maybe you do want to bother yourself with makefiles, but just want to build the same thing for Linux and Android, and just replace the toolchain. An easy going recipe is below. Versions numbers will change, principles will probably remain the same.
Assume you also got tired about figuring where the hell those crt* files are at, why the cross compiler insists on refusing to find your include files, and you are minutes away from doing the right thing and create a proper Android.mk file (or Gradle... see source link below for my personal thought about it [hint: they are not very positive]).
Then do the following, live long and prosper:
Host: linux-x86_64 . Target: ARM (thumb).
# Adding GCC wrapper for "stand alone" NDK:
$ export SYSROOT=$NDK/platforms/android-21/arch-arm
$ export CC_NDK="$NDK/toolchains/arm-linux-androideabi-4.8/prebuilt/linux-x86_64/bin/arm-linux-androideabi-gcc-4.8 --sysroot=$SYSROOT"
Then you can build by invoking $CC_NDK ...
Use your own version of course. A similar method can be done with the AOSP/CM/whatever platform base you have itself, but that should get you going.

Thanks @ronubo. Helpful blog post on lkm debugging too.

[Q] running an application from terminal

Hello.
I'm trying to debug an application that stops immediately after execution.
I think that first I need to know how to properly execute it using am (AcitivtyManager). after reading lots of posts regarding the issue here and on google things still aren't clear enough.
at the following URL:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=597096
I saw the following example that requires the package name and the Activity class name.
am start -n com.metago.astro/.FileManagerActivity
how can I find out the activity class name of an installed app?
in some other posts i read that the manifest file contains that information but I unzipped the apk and the AndroidManifest.xml seems to be compiled or something without any readable text. please enlight me on this issue. how does the android knows how to execute the application? what information does he stores and how!?? Can I extract that information to understand how to execute the app?
any information regarding the issue would be greatly appreciated, there are many posts, but nothing concrete.
thanks!

Is your S4 rooted? I have an unrooted S4 (GT-I9500) and I couldn't find the particular path that you stated nor any folder with the name com.samsung.android.service.travel
I've been looking for ways to save those pictures too. Any help would be appreciated
Hi there, yes my s4 i9500 is rooted, i think You have 2 options:
1-Root your phone, it's really easy using chainfire's root and Odin, and search for path I mentioned.
2-Search if any folder app allows you to browse inside the whole android's files structure without being rooted, and search for the path I mentioned.
If step 1 or 2 are not successful for you but at least you can browse into the whole android's file structure ( as suggested in step 2) then you can make a search of jpg files using the search function of your file browser app and wait until it finish and look into results, the images you are looking for should appear and you will be able to check its path for future reference (In case this path would be different from mine)
Thanks. I'll root my phone and give it a try!
Rooted my phone, but still no luck. That particular folder doesnt exist on my phone, it seems
Searched for the images and no images appear either while I have it on my lock screen. Weird state of affairs.

Hi,
Do you know how to do it in Mac OS X of in iPhone Explorer?

LOS carrier / modem configuration: How does it work?

Hi all,
I would like to gain a bit deeper understanding of how LOS is working in terms of actual phone function. I'm pretty sure that the following is only the tip of the iceberg, but with the stock ROM, for example on a Sony Z5C, there is a folder
/system/etc/customization/modem
that contains .mbn files for various providers and a folder
/system/priv-app/CarrierConfig
that contains a corresponding .apk file.
Now for example in LOS17.1, the first folder (or similar files) do not exist and the second one is called CarrierSetup with a corresponding .apk file. I assume the latter .apk is responsible for some sort of generic carrier configuration, but how does that work? Is it hard coded in the .apk, or is there some generic configuration file somewhere? And: How can I find out, what configuration is currently used and what bands are available?
Any helpful answers or references to further info are welcome!
Cheers,
r.
