could you maybe walk a noob thru this? i just rooted my phone about 10 minutes ago, and first thing i wanna do is use black notification bar. after searching, this seems like the simplest one out there, no new fonts, just straight black desire notifcation bar.
i'm trying metamorph but obviously still learning...
Did you install CM 5.0.7.1 ROM?
If so, just install this mod through MetaMorph (unzip and then apply the zip file, should be selectable through MM menus).
Then, after reboot, go into Spareparts (part of CM ROM), and change the text colors in Notifications to White so it can show on the black background.

Id recommend changing the font before rebooting. Otherwise you have to reboot twice. Unless there is a way to see the color changes without having to reboot?

I just tried the Desire bar only zip file and it didn't change anything. I've done Metamorphs before and haven't had a problem. Not sure what's up. I haven't done a MM since the newest version, and when applying this, I didn't see the long extraction dialog I'm used to seeing. I have to be doing something wrong here...

You can just open the ZIP file (or the them folder) and remove anything you don't want to change. Very simple.

extract a rom update file extract the framework take out the original icons replace then re-apply morph.

Installation and Downloads
At first I have to say something new!
The new Metamorph seems to be a bit unstable by applying themes with coloured text in the statusbars. Some of you have reported problems while applying it. So I have decided to make the theme applying in a few little steps.
This is a Metamorph Theme. You have to install Metamorph (or better: Metamorph Pro) from the market. Copy the following files to your SD Card in the folder "AndroidThemes"
If you have problems
Check following
1. Have you downloaded the correct files for your ROM?
2. Have you debugging enabled in the Android Menu?
3. Install "Titanium Backup" start it and hit the "Problems?" Button, then it installs a correct busybox version. This is required!!!
4. In Metamorph, press Menu, and play with the applying speed. Choose a speed above 4200!
5. Never check the "Disable startup checks" in Metamorphs settings
5.2. If the notification text isn't white, reapply the second zip file. Metamorph is a bit buggy with it. I must apply it four times, but it still works
6. Never, never, never rename the zipfile. If you do this, you become error messages like "Theme Control File Missing"

I like and am using this morph, but am not a big fan of the wifi bars color. Any chance you can make it cyan like CM's clock and power widget??
Also, it might look better if the "E" or "H" or "3G" were a different color than their upload and download arrows. More Cyan is always good. I think there is too much of the same color between the "E/H/3G", the signal strength and the battery level. It might be better if they were not all the same color.

The Gmail version works fine on CM 5.02. I might be just imagining it but it seems like the Gmail icon is bigger than it is supposed to be.
The gmail icon is the same size as the original stock icon. It may just look a bit bigger due to having crisper lines. I didn't include any shading.

I have it now on Modaco (only the gmail icon) and it's quite pretty I think. It's another like the well known from enoms.

This is the same Blackbar I had been keeping updated for Enom and Cyan ROMs for a while. I have updated it for Modaco MCR-R17 Froyo.
Includes:
Desire status bar and icons
Transparent power control widget with green highlights
Shiny black popup boxes
Green highlighting on the geniewidget
Maybe some other stuff I don't remember.
To-Do: I just noticed the debug icon on the shade looks stupid. So I will fix the icon tomorrow and put out an update. -DONE
Also going to make the pull down shade more transparent. Not really liking the gray look.
You need the newer version of metamorph to be able to apply this. (xml version)
I have no intention of changing ANYTHING in this morph for any reason. THIS is how *I* want my morph to look. If you don't like something about it, feel free to look elsewhere or change it yourself. I won't be offended.

Mine applied 3 times without a hitch. Dunno what would cause that. Possibly a corrupt download?

The Screens look very similar to the ones found here in the original post.

Yes, once the new updates finally make it to AOSP, there will be all sorts of new ROMs coming out and you will need to pick one that you like. Most likely, I will update this to work with Enom and Cyan once they get their respective ROMs out.
Thats the name of the game though, flash, flash, and flash some more until you get one you really like. It's not like it is hard or time consuming really. It only takes a minute to flash a new ROM and be up and running.

How do out guys save all your info when flashing though? A nand backup doesn't work from a different ROM, right? Always wondered about best way to save info like call log, texts, browser cache, etc.
does trackball notifications with screen-on still work after this mod? Currently i have "the other" black bar out there and the notifications only work with screen-off now..

I have the exact same problem. Latest MCR 17 and now I have white text but the bar color has not changed.
I had the same problem when I tried to do a different theme with an older MCR release.
Does anyone know why might be the cause?

Same problem.
Even did fresh mcr17 install.. same
When I get home from work tonight I will download the various versions of MCR 17 and check them out. I used a 'custom bake' to make it. But I would think the base framework and services would be the same.
As for the question about saving texts and so forth when flashing, I *think* titanium backup and my backup pro both have that option. I don't know since I never save anything when I flash. I try to keep the new ROM as cleaned up as possible for top performance.
Also looking for which versions people are using most. Paul has 4 different versions of R17 posted.

I'm using r17 without additions and I'm encountering the same reboot issue on step 4.
I am using a custom kitchen version of MCR r17
can't seem to figure out how to get "status_bar_background.png" transparent, .png that show transparent anywhere else won't be transparent when in framework-res...i'm pretty sure i had pulled the transparent from eclair smooth blackbar, but it doesn't remain transparent on froyo...
Stock R17 (no additions,) getting the reboot and white text/white bar.
I had the same problem with white text and white notifications. I just applied step four again and did a reboot now everything is working perfectly. Great work I love how this looks especially the transparent pop up boxes.
This is an entirely custom job I've done that is comparable to xTheme by Fabolous. Instead of using other Droid X-like themes, I pulled all images from the Droid X & Droid 2 system dumps and made some modifications to my liking since the other themes didn't have the "right feeling" to me.
Please do not repost (or port & upload) my work without permission; do not claim any of my work as your own; I've put a lot of time into making this what it is today. Before doing anything questionable, ask yourself how you would feel if someone took credit for your work. Thanks for understanding.

If you're having trouble getting your statusbar and pulldown font colors to look the way I have them in the screenshots, go to:
Settings -> Cyanogenmod settings -> User Interface -> Notification colors
...and use this configuration:
Notifications ticker color= #ff000000
Notifications count color= #ffffffff
No notifications title color= #ffffffff
Clear notifications label color= #ffffffff
Ongoing notifications title color= #ffffffff
Latest notifications title color= #ffffffff
Items title color= #ff000000
Items text color= #ff000000
Items time color= #ff000000
• It probably won't let you enter 8 digits. Instead, use the last 6; the first ff tells the system to make the colors completely opaque. 00, on the other hand, symbolizes fully transparency. Play with the alpha bar under color picker to your liking.

Just the status bar or do you want everything to be red, too? I did a side project months back where I turned everything in SenseUI from green to red, but iy isn't 100% complete yet. It's more like ~90% finished.

Yup, not a problem. Do you want it to be this theme with the sense status bar, or the stock sense theme with all green replaced with red? I've practically already done both. Again, it may take a couple of days. I won't get off work until Sunday morning.

Yup, not a problem. Do you want it to be this theme with the sense status bar, or the stock sense theme with all green replaced with red? I've practically already done both. Again, it may take a couple of days. I won't get off work until Sunday morning.

I was actually hoping for the original Droid X status bar. I think it looks much more sleek and clean.

That's what I'm using.
Updated original post with ports for SKyraider 2.5.2 & Motorola Droid running CM6 rc3, as well as a black statusbar mod. Let me know if they work out for ya. I'll post updated screenshots of the latest UI when I get time.
Er the Droid port doesn't install. There's an error concerning a boot.img or something..? I thought that maybe the zip file was the problem so I put the framework-res.apk into a different zip file and that installed, but there are still force closes everywhere :[

Modified and reuploaded, try again. If it doesn't work, toggle signature verification and try once more. If you still don't have any luck, give me time to check it over.

The Droid X status bar has a blue tint to it making it look much sleeker. The one that is in your screen shots is just white.
why isn't there a service.jar in the droid port? Also I installed over some other guy's droid x theme hoping to get the improvements you listed, but I didn't get any. In fact, it's as if the zip might not even have actually installed.. o_o.
this is a theme that has taken influence from several other themes and builds all credit goes where credit is due, I simply collected the parts i like most about them.

-New! i have also attached a modified version of the Cyanogen wallpaper app that has a bunch of wallpapers that go great with the theme

thanks man, i had no intention of making a theme a few days ago then the darksmoothie theme showed up and i liked it but i had some things i didnt care for so naturally i tampered with it and was like hey maybe somebody else would enjoy using it

The "arrow" for the appdrawer, however, seems a little too far up to me.

Like someone else said, the notification text can be a little hard to read, and the date in the top left of the dropdown doesn't match the rest of the status bar. There is a similar problem with the stock Calendar widget, unless I use a lightly-colored background. All in all, I like how clean and professional it feels; it looks like it could be stock, which is why I don't usually use a theme. Great work! I look forward to additional updates

the status bar in general confuses me its transparent to whatever is behind it unless its on the home screen
edit: got the status bar staying black, thats one thing off the todo list

I've got this ported over to CM 6.1 using ASimmons theme-tool. Its fantastic and a must have theme. Kyle, great job on this theme, I really like the rounded look of the pull-down status-bar

nightly 126 and ASimmons theme injector. I haven't tried the updated version (from earlier tonight) but if its anything like his other work, it will work and be fantastic. just follow the directions from the original post.

asimmons is running it through his theme porter now since i was having trouble with it, but if you want to that would be awesome, and im glad you like it i did make one other change to it other than to the one i posted, and thats the volume up and down color is orange instead of black and white but it isnt a big deal ATM, so yea please do it if you want to, thanks for your help

Alrighty. I'm current porting another one of my ports to cm6.1 as well. If something happens and he can't get it to you(I hope he can), I'll work on it. Probably be tomorrow though.

This works on stock launcher, it doesnt work on launcher pro plus though as the bar turns back to black

I'll release that and circle battery mod tomorrow...i'm a bit busy today. Stupid real life work.
For menus' backgrounds like for settings.apk, I think you need to modify images in /system/framework/framework-res.apk and /system/framework/SemcGenericUxpRes.apk

Nice theme cheers man! The status bar needs some working on like mentioned in previous posts. Would be better as black, also when you pull it down its darker where the date is in the top left corner. I actually like the white dividing lines between items myself. Thanks again!

I can't find the background PNG file for settings.apk, phonebook.apk, messaging, infiniteview etc. It's not there. If someone can help me locate that background image so I can change it, please tell me. Thanks . (Note:it's not semc_bg in framework.res/drawable-hdpi...i already tried changing that. The only BG that changed was the calculator background)
