SwiftKey keyboard
SwiftKey is like an English professor is alive and working inside your phone. It’s still in beta, but it’s already an amazing little application. What makes SwiftKey different is its ability to predict the next word in your sentence. Predicting the current word is so 2009! Of course everyone loves things that make our lives easier - things like correctly guessing what word comes next. My only issue (and it's a small one) is that you can't enter words that aren't in the dictionary by pressing the spacebar and moving on. You have to actually tap the word to get SwiftKey to enter it.
To sign up and check out the SwiftKey beta head over to SwiftKey.net. It's really polished for a beta, and to be honest I'm planning on using it as is until they release a new version. At the moment SwiftKey is English only, but the developers say that they plan to include support for all the Latin based languages in the near future. No word on availability and pricing of the final version, but by the look and feel of the application, it shouldn't be too far off. Keep an eye on their site for details, and be sure to let me know if you see it slip into the Market before I do!
Pros:
Amazing full word prediction
Easy to add to custom dictionary
Also predicts punctuation
Special characters are easily entered by long pressing
Cons:
Learning curve
Can be laggy when first starting up
Will always pick the word it thinks is correct, so be careful with the spacebar
ENJOY...(source android central.com)
very nice app it works really good thanks.
Interesting app, thanx.
Official Beta has just been released to the market.
Just started using today,it seems cool just needs more options. Also this happens if I hold down the spacebar:
I am a beautiful person. I am a beautiful person. I am a beautiful person. I am a beautiful person. I am a beautiful person.
LOL.
Sent from my Nexus One
I am using it right now, and I must to say that it is incredible. It makes very
good predictions cause it scan your SMS and it knows what words you use usually,
and what combinations of words... It works very well.
Now I have a problem, I dont know which keyboard is better, SwiftKey or Swype.
I have both and I am undecided...
Thanks for your contribution.
This is brilliant, if only it could be themed but maybe in the final release. The contextual prediction is great and really does suggest sensible next words based on the sentence you are typing! Sometimes it even suggests things better than the word I was thinking of!
I like that it has an English-UK option too so no americanisms and it knows things like British place names etc. Very very impressed

***MOD EDIT*** File removed, it is part of a private beta not for public use.
hmm, looks pretty clean. I'll try it out. Thanks for the heads up
I just got the beta invitation email
I got all excited because I thought it was going to be swype-esque
has anyone tried it yet?

If you're going to put it out publically, at least attach the usage license..

I was just about to say he wasn't allowed to give it out publicly...
Anyway, I am using it. Been using it for the past hour to text with a couple of friends and I freaking love this thing. I hope the timer on it isn't too short, because I'm going to get so used to how easy this thing is to use. Not only does it predict words accurately, but it does it with almost NO lag. (Keep in mind I've been on an overclocked ROM for the past week).
I recommend it to anyone who signed up for the beta. If you haven't, you can sign up here and hope to get into future betas.
I got invited and have been using it for a while now and I don't really know if I like it or not. I think I text faster with it, but stopping half way through a word because it knows what I am trying to say just throws me off, it breaks my rhythm is you know what I mean.
But this app is pretty good at predicting what you will say next lol
Removed link
I removed the link to this APK, it is part of a private beta test and should not be publicly distributed. Do not post files that will get XDA in trouble! Russ
Good today only! (5/20/11) The world ends tomorrow anyways
The SwiftKey keyboard beta has been opened up so you can download the new honeycomb compatible keyboard. This is a serious contender to ThumbKeyboard, and it's specialty is predictive text. It's setup very well on the Transformer. Another must have, or at least must try keyboard.
In order to sign up, just register at their website and use the invite code #swiftkeyFRIDAY.
Register here.
Once registered you get forum access. Go to the tablet downloads section and get the new Beta.

Interesting, will take some getting use too.
I've been waiting for this and it's finally here... beta version
Thanks for the info.
Had access to this for a while now but I find the layout of thumb keyboard to be far better and easier to type with, didn't use swiftkey much.
Thanks man
Bah... now they're giving us a choice! I'd already made my mind up that I was going to buy thumbkeyboard. Now you're making me re-think.
Although SwiftKey is pretty cool looking, and better then the regular keyboard. I definitely think that ThumbKeyboard is definetly better.
Also has anyone noticed how even with the keyboard dock the SwiftKey prediction three word thing still pops up. I'm not sure if I like to or not yet. But kinda cool. I wonder if they did that on. purpose or not.

Edit: Also for some reason the prediction with the keyboard work really good in the XDA app. Actually fixes any mistakes I make typing. But in every other app i've tried messes up, either by double entering words, or by just adding random letters. Especially if I start typing real fast. Guess that is a problem.
I agree with the above...I make way more mistakes on the swiftkey app and I hate the tron look. I want a matte keyboard layout so back to thumb keyboard I go!
I know it's a beta...it will get better, but for now I'll stick to what works and what I can customize further.
i have the same auto-correct issue of it adding random characters, actually the letter "I" specifically.
Good day guys,
Im looking for a keyboard resembling the thumb special one from the iPad iOS5.
I really like the concept and i have tried the app "tablet keyboard" yet it just not it.
Im looking for a thumb keyboard that is split on both sides of the device, yet has nothing in the middle thus preserving precious pixels.

Try Thumb Keyboard. Best purchase I've made for my Transformer. Lots of customization and it's only 99 cents on Amazon's AppStore right now!

Did you not read his post or did you just choose to ignore the part where he says WITH NOTHING INBETWEEN.
I love the community! Everyone is so friendly and helpful!
I believe thumb keyboard dev will think about this layout with nothing in the middle.
Im not completely sure, but I dont think that the Android IME framework supports layouts like that (With the application underneath). I think the IME gets a certain area of the screen, and will just have blank spaces in open areas.

Hopefully Apple doesn't have a patent on that... they seem to patent the most basic things. Meh. Would be a great layout though.
Typical. Everytime I see a "new Apple feature" that Android already has, I can't suppress a smile. Then I see Apple's version and dammit, they manage to put a new slant on it that wipes the smile away!

Asus makes a actual keyboard for the transformer it extends the battery life too and there is nothing in the middle of the screen.
The new swype beta has a sliding keyboard that takes up about a fifth of precious screen realestate. I have a post with pics in here somewhere. Not what you specifically asked for, but it is free when you sign up for the beta.
Hello ,everyone!
I am recently engaged with keyboard .I wonder what is most important about a keyboard to most users.
Would you please kindly share your precious opinion with us?Thank you very much!
Main thing it is usability, example real PC keyboard - good -phone screen keyboard - suxx.
Depends per example, I use fleksy cause I like the custom themes (that you can make) and because of ther size and it just types nice

I also sometimes switch to swiftkey. swiftkey also has themes but you can not edit them yourself but it does feature swype and quit good predictions
Prediction!
Thank you for your detailed reply!

No problem, I am here to help.
For me, ideal english keyboard has numbers above letters for quick access. That's probably all I'm missing in standart Android keyboard.
But if you are thinking in non English world also, there is space for improvement in autocorrect (for example default android keyboard tries to correct every word it doesn't know, which makes autocorrect totaly useless in my language). Also it's really annoying to write special characters (for example á,š,č...), because you have to press letter, wait for a second and than choose from a sub menu. That's actually quite a big delay because you normally have to write many of these characters.
I hope it helps you somehow and sorry for my English.
For me is Accuracy and Predictions.

It's not a real tactile keyboard but at least it's a new landscape keyboard-ish phone with new hardware. I'm disappointed it is a screen but if it's customizable then that would make a bit more sense instead of it just being a silly gimmick. I don't need a camera button on my keyboard, I'm not sure what's beside the 1 key or the left/right arrows, I don't need a symbol button where backspace should be and it looks like a whole row worth of space is wasted where there is just the speaker symbol.
It might be better than the landscape mode blackberry options though but there's no way I'll be able to type on it without looking as well as having a tactile and real physical keyboard. At first I thought it was a real keyboard and got so excited. I have come down off that high now.

Damn...it was a hoax. Just some sort of concept art someone was using to get their name out there for graphic design.

Not sure if this was posted previously, please share. Coming from the same folks that developed a keyboard mod for the Moto z phones
Sincerely hope the device is successful
I have a love for QWERTYs (look at my past phones). Spread the word please!

instead of adding that in a 2nd post, you should edit your OP to remove the unsourced clickbait fake pic and rumors... then replace it all with the actual *factual* new landscape slider, which *is real*, has *legit sources*, and details could be found since mid to late 2018, now directly at https://www.fxtec.com/pro1 or just delete this "fake news" thread entirely.
