OP Updated!
Humm, Can u extract the full ROM, And i will try out to port on GW 620.
Thanks
do you know how to do a restore for the LG Ally with this system dump?
if so, how? i've been looking and googling for days and this file has been the most helpful in my search for my missing files, i just need to know how to restore the phone cuz i reaaaallllyyyy messed mine up with deleting important things.
Ally apps from dump
I'm on a nonrooted Captivate using Android Central Sideload Wonder Machine, and have also tried Droid Explorer, neither can install any of the apps from the dump, does anything need to be done to the apk files before they can be installed?

I'm sure the Ally dump isn't de-odex'ed? To get these to work on another Android phone you need the odex files as well (apk and odex) and than they can work. As of right now the dump can only work on that particular phone, in this case the Ally.
EDIT: I was looking forward to this too. I want the clock/weather apk
I know it's a bummer huh, can't find too many good alternatives to these official widgets and programs, a lot of 3rd party ones work OK but they just don't feel as clean.
OP, can you get the odex files plz? That's the only way we can get these to run on a non Ally phone.

there is an odex file for every apk file in the app folder of the dump, if that's what you're looking for. like the weather widget you and I were both hoping for there's the apk for it "clockweatherwidget.apk" then an odex "clockweatherwidget.odex" right next to it. Forgive me if I'm not being of much use I'm just now venturing away from windows mobile.

The .odex's are included. Could you elaborate?
I have only been able to get two Ally app's functional on other phones. I had to resign them, they are Socialite and Divx Registration. Both have been posted in other threads.
I think the clock/weather widget will only work with the LG launcher.

I know a lot of people were losing the multi-touch browser after installing a theme. So here is the browser.apk pulled from JF1.41.
Put browser.apk in the same directory as adb to make things simple.
If you want to try this out:
Wipe your phone in recovery mode
Update to JF1.41
Install your theme
while still in recovery mode:
adb remount
adb shell rm /system/app/browser.odex
adb push browser.apk /system/app/browser.apk
you should have your theme and the modified MT browser working.
I tried it with 3 different themes and it worked in all 3.
Thanks =] I wanted this
luke has them on his blog post as well.

Couldnt you unzip the theme and replace the browser apk as well? There was another thread about doing this with the old auto rotate browser.

You should be able to. Replace the Superuser.apk while you're at it. And be sure to resign the zip before you apply it

Is there an apk for the 1.3 of Superuser? Or is this implemented in a different way into this update?
If someone has an apk to throw on here, it would be greatly appreciated.

how would u do this by replacing the browser.apk in the update file? read some things on it, didnt really get how to do it. any step by steps available?
NO .APK
On lukehutchs web blog there are no .apk. u must download and then build the .apk
Yourself. So if anyone has them already. Hint: Jesusfreke already as a .apk files. Please upload the .apk files for the Map, Pic sorter & the visaulizer.

Don't worry I sometimes miss things that are right in front of me.
In the first paragraph under each Multi Touch demo app it says, get the sourse 'here' OR get the .APK HERE click on the second 'here' if you can't I don't know what to say, you can ctrl-F and look for .apk
Also any way of rm the browser odex and copying the new apk from the phone ie the command in recovery or do I need a computer would be great because won't be near one for two days.
umm guys i kno this new browser has auto rotate but how in the world do you enable it lol
Triplr checked it. This is crazy
I dont know if im crazy or yall are crazy.
Listen I went to LUKE HUTCH's site & if u download any of the .apk Zips that he's posted on the site. U will find that there all filled with all the folders to make the App; to compile a .apk file but there are no .apk files in the: MTVisualizer Zip, MTPhotoSortrDemo or MTMapsDemo Folders.
You guys shouldactually try to download a folder & dig through all of them like i did. They arent there. If u guys see somewhere beside that site. let me know.
Solike i said in the 1st post. If someone......ANYONE! could make the .apk Files & post them to the forum. it would be greatly apreaciated cuz no one hyas these .apk period execpt for LUKE himself.
Edit: I was looking for a zipped, rooted version of 1.47.651.1 and didn't find it, so I made one and posted it. Turns out I had just missed caulkin's post, so my post is now pretty pointless. If a mod wants to delete the thread, that is fine. I apologize for clogging things up, I was intending to provide a resource to make things easier for other people.
Here is caulkins: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=712695

I haven't seen a rooted stock of the latest OTA ROM (1.47.651.1) so I made one. I added superuser, busy box, and left everything else the same. I'll probably add a deodexed version and stripped version soon.
odex-1.47.651.1
I'm pretty new to the Android world, but I think no one had put this up yet because it is pretty easy to do, but a pain to upload. Let me know if there are any issues, but in my testing it has been fine, market works, etc. Also, if this is out there, let me know, or delete the thread, but the only post I saw with this had a dead link.
This is just the images from whitslacks expanded into the more familiar zip package like most of the cooked roms are distributed. If you are running whitslacks this would be no different.

Yes, this is actually based on whitslack's. His work may be more useful, but his is a full package that replaces everything (radio, recovery, etc), and requires another flash to root.
This is just a standard rom that can be installed via clockwork or RA and doesn't change any of the other pieces.
More than anything it may be a building block for other roms, especially once I get a deodexed version up.
Caulkin also has a rooted stock Rom as well odex and deodexed in this forum. He was the first to put it out like the day the ota was released

Okay, I've spent quite a bit of time trying to figure this whole root thing out and I've got a pretty good handle on rooting and flashing ROM, but can't find what's the deal with odexed versus de-odexed? I imagine there's a different thread with this info and a little off topic from the original intent of this thread. If anyone has a link, I'd appreciate it.
Now that I've already done whitslacks 1.47 rooted rom, I should be fine with that, correct? What you're doing here doesn't necessarily apply if one has already done whitslacks and is happy with it?
Thanks, still learning this stuff.

I'm quite new and may have some of this wrong, but I think I'm close:
When a developer makes an application file, it is an apk. The apk is actually a zip file with information inside on how to install, name of the file, and resources used in the application, like pictures used for buttons. If the file is not odexed, then there is also a .dex file contained which has the actual program code used by the virtual machine. If a file is odexed then there is a separate file with the same name as the apk, but has the extension .odex. This is done by htc to the system files to make things (arguably) a little faster.
Dev's then deodex the files to put the odex file back into the apk as a .dex file, if this is desired. The reason for this is so that they can be changed later to do something like theming.
Yes, this is the same as whitslack's. If you wanted a de-odexed ROM you could now grab the one caulkin posted and flash it.

So, essentially caulkin's rom is deodexed, whitslacks is not? Which means, whitslacks rom is exactly like a non-rooted 1.47 ota but with root permissions, while caulkins is exactly like whitslacks, but with the ability to change some files around later.
Like I said, I'm still learning, and it appears whitslacks is sufficient for me since I don't even know what files I could manipulate with caulkins (or your) version nor how to do it even if I wanted to.
Thanks again, learning a little more every day. I've spent about 5 full days on this forum. slowly but surely, right?
Pretty cool
Hello everyone......if youre like me and just want to beat the crap out of a game that ticks you off sometimes then this is for you. This guide will explain how to edit the apk for fieldrunners hd. I will not supply or distribute the apk, so please do not ask.
First you will need the apk file you have purchased from android market. If you have an apk from amazon app store it will not work.
Start by changing the file extension from apk to .zip. Next, extract the contents of the file to a new folder on your desktop. (Folder can be named anything you like)
Open folder Assets>Data>HighResolution>Maps
Here you will find 4 folders....Cave, Crossroads, Drylands, Grasslands
Open the Folder for the level you wish to edit. (I will use grasslands as example for this guide)
Look for the files that have a ~map.mp3 extension. Open this file with a text editor like notepad. A few lines into the file will see this "startingHealth="20" startingResources="15". Change these values to anything you want them to be.
If you would like to modify the specs for the towers you can do this as well. I find it fun to make one weapon that just kills everything in one blow.
Open folder Assets>Data>HighResolution>Towers. Look for the tower you would like modify and open the file with a ~tower.mp3 extension in a text editor like notepad. Each tower will have one of these files for it. When opened look for <minDamage="129" maxDamage="129"> There will be a line like this for each level of tower, 1,2&3. Change he values to whatever you like, the higher the number the stronger the weapon.
Now that you have editied all maps and towers you want to it is time to button this up. Select all the files and folders you extracted from the zip file and create a new zip file. I use winzip with no compression. Name your new file whatever you like and save it to the desktop or a place you can find it. Now change the file extension of the new file from .zip to .apk. You will now need to sign the file, you will have to learn that in a different writeup. Once the file is signed it will install and you will see the changes in the game.
Good luck tinkering, do not post apk's here, and please act responsibly.

So, when i altered the files and so on, do i just deinstall the game? or are there other files i have to remove???
I have the amazon one, and it does not work. can someone pm me to the market version or this version? I've downloaded a few apk's already, and they seem to be the amazon version based on the file contents.
so I have the market apk, but I cannot get it signed properly. Tried zipsign 2, and install went ok, but app could not open. Tried signapk.exe and installed ok, but wont open.
after i re-zip the size changes by over 2mb under and will not install. I have re-signed it. What would cause the size change that much? it should be a few bytes.
Make sure you are zipping with NO compression.

you need a program to sign it. I finally figured out how to do this.
so to recap, after you made changes to all the files like (I just added 99999 starting money):
grasslands_extended~map.mp3
grasslands~map.mp3
crossroads_extended~map.mp3
crossroads~map.mp3
then you zip it with NO COMPRESSION (or "Store" with winrar)
then use this to sign it(This can be used to sign any apk file):
Mirrors
http://www.mediafire.com/?tj2dqjcrqfujxr7
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=GHYX0PRW
http://www.fileserve.com/file/F3GT3bK/SignApk-with-bat.zip
http://www.filesonic.com/file/1878513104/SignApk-with-bat.zip
Download file and extract to C:. You should have a folder called "C:\SignApk"
Here are the instructions I made on how to sign it:
1. Copy the apk file to C:\SignApk
2. Rename apk file to "application.apk", then run the "Sign-application.apk.bat". This will produce a "application-signed.apk" in the same folder.
The batch file can be ran under administrative mode if it does not work the first time.
Requires java, and I assume most people have that on their pc already.
EDIT: it took me a lot of research to figure this out as well. Figure I can provide a simpler walkthrough that people can follow.
I'm just wondering, but wouldn't it be easier to use something like GameCIH? It seems less intrusive and easier. If you've ever used cheat engine before, then gameCIH should be a breeze.
i get this message when i tried instal apk "There is a problem parsing the package"
can you all solve my problem??
Can someone post the modded apk in multiupload ? i'm trying with 1.04 version and it doesn't work. Thanks
Works like a charm. Now even my machine guns can take on the blimps in 1 shot
thanks popp. worked like a champ. fun for about 5 minutes, then you realize after modding the game, it just never ends. Cool to see though, since I couldnt get passed round 400 with the standard setup, now its just a matter of when I quit the game due to being bored
cool to hack as well!
how do you know where to find the address and specific string? for example you have a neew game installed and you want to mod it. how can you trace the source of gold, etc?
Alright. Can anyone give me a list of the applications in the ROM?
I don't mean like Market, Settings, etc...
I mean like
Market - Vending.apk, .odex
Settings - Settings.apk, odex
And can you separate the applications from the widgets? Honestly, it's a pain right now since ADB doesn't work properly.
And yes. I'm testing the AcidHazardROM 3.0 kitchen, and quit frankly, the "customization" is extremely limited when it comes to system apps because of this.

I know that. I've already downloaded it.
My ADB is currently not working, so I can't check which files are widgets and which files are applications.
I also can't check what application the.apk and .odex file is associated with.

I was trying to mod dotview apk to replace HTC voice assist with Google Now and maybe you can help me.
I decompiled the apk and stuck in logcats so I can follow the execution path but I cannot seem to get it to run.
First time I forgot to sign it, so that crashed.
But even once I signed it and pushed it to priv-app I couldn't boot my phone. It may be because I'm in ART... Idk.
I guess I'm a bit lost... Lol. Maybe you can help me...
How does odex/deodex affect apk modding?
Does art affect apk modding?
Do I need HTCs certificates or is the default test cert OK?
What would be the rough outline to mod an apk?
(I'm comfortable modding the smali, I just don't know how to put the apk back properly)
Thank you so much.

You should place the original HTC certs in the Apk. I always do.
I Have noted that ART will not allow APK's to be modded easily and have to switch back to Dalvik Execution. I had this problem with APM.
As far as rough outline to Mod an apk that is a pretty open question.
I would say, downloaded it, decompile it, edit it, re-compile it. Push it / flash it.

How did you get the original certs? Is that the meta.inf folder?
Do I need to 'Sign' the apk after recompiling or is moving meta.inf enough?
Should I worry about odex/deodex?

Hi,
just found out your thread,
no clue on how to help you here but i'd definitely be interested in your mod!
I'm using autovoice (a plugin for tasker for voice commands)... Once you find out hew to have google now work do you think it would be possible to make a mod for autovoice as well? (I'll pay a few beers for that!)
thanks for your work on that anyway
