Please tell me Android mail can receive yahoo email or not

Yes, it works great w/ the stock email app...just have to input the yahoo mail imap settings. You can set it to check every so often for new email and it notifies you as well.
May you tell ne how to set up. Thx

Another option would be to:
Login to the gmail account from your pc, go to settings, then Accounts and Import, then Import mail and contacts:Import from Yahoo!, Hotmail, AOL or other webmail or POP3 accounts.
This way you dont have to have both email apps on the phone just gmail..
This worked for me.... Make sure Wifi is off.
2. Open the Email app.
3. Enter in full Yahoo email address and password.
4. Select MANUAL SETUP instead of “Next”.
5. Select “IMAP” and setup the following:
Username: [email protected]
Password: yourpassword
IMAP server: imap.mail.yahoo.com
Port: 143
Security: None
IMAP path prefix = Blank
6. Tap “Next”.
7. Set Outgoing server settings as:
SMTP server: smtp.mail.yahoo.com
Port: 587
Security: None
8. Click “Next” and finish the rest of the setup
Yahoo Pop3 Mail instead of IMAP works also flawlessly with the stock application.
It is not work in HTC Legend, if turn off WiFi. The machine not let me go to step 6 and after step. Thx

Hi, how do i get hotmail on wm6 without having to go through hotmail.com on explorer. Don't like using MSN messenger either. Entourage for mac lets you use Hotmail like an IMAP/POP3. Can this be done on wm6? Windows live?
Cheers
if you have the pop3 smtp setting for a mail box
you can access it from any device which support those
settings it would be transparent for the device that it
was hotmail rather then a mail server at your isp
Er, looks like you can't get hotmail details. If you can if you subsribe to the premium hotmail service.
Found these but not sure?
Settings are:
incoming mail server: 195.137.042.007
outgoing smtp server: 195.137.042.007
port: 110
user name: your hotmail user name
password: your hotmail password
think gmail let one get access regardless
So I got my phone exchanged for a new one a few days ago, now when I try to add my yahoo account to the email app it keeps saying that some yahoo accounts aren't supported and immediately says wrong pass or user name. Any ideas? My yahoo account worked flawlessly on the first phone. Both were captivates.

Hmm. . I thought yahoo started a charged subscription service for use of pop3?

Yeah, that's been my experience. My yahoo mail worked only if I was using 3g and would fail while using wireless.
Try using k9 and see if that works for you. I eventually gave up and moved my yahoo account to gmail. I like gmail formatting better anyway

I gave up and just use yahoo in the browser. IMAP in the email android app with yahoo was very unreliable for me. Didn't check sometimes, hung up, etc.

Thanks for the replies, and what do you mean "moved my yahoo account to gmail" you mean there's a way to transfer anything that was set to the yahoo account over to gmail? basically rendering the yahoo account useless? Is that it?

What I did is create a new gmail account (because I don't want my yahoo mail mixed with my "real" email box). Then I went to Settings->Accounts and Import and told it to import my yahoo mail account. I waited 3 or 4 hours and bam, all my yahoo mail was in the new gmail account... it even created tags for each folder that was in yahoo... amazingly painless.
Because I wasn't sure it'd do what it did I was pretty piecemeal about it. I set gmail to pull emails from yahoo without deleting it first (read the yahoo asia change), then told it to start deleting it from the yahoo server. I'm still keeping the yahoo account around because I have literally years of accounts tied to it but I'll just be using gmail from now on.
This worked for me. I now have Yahoo working on WiFi on the built in mail application with 2.2.

I'm about to try this as well, hope it works... I think I've tried it before but must have been doing something wrong, can you confirm that this is just as reliable as k-9?

i think i used mobile instead of android

whoa....finally something that works! Running 2.2 beta with the stock mail app. I had tried the "mobile" instead of "android" on the servers but it never worked for me. Just tried sending myself an email and it worked on wifi.
Great job thanks for the settings. The only thing i did differently was instead of selecting "SSL" i selected "SSL accept all certificates"

thank you
now works also for me!
So I installed CoreDroid 5.1 and things seem to be working well, except I'm trying to add a Gmail account to the Mail client (I had it setup this way before and like a single inbox better than gmail client).
I have 3 other emails installed but when I try to add gmail using these settings it fails:
email: [email protected]
server: m.google.com
domain: blank (also tried "google")
user: [email protected]
pass: (my password)
Use SSL: ON
And it goes to the second screen where it says "enable push" and I check email only not calendars or contacts, but then when I click finish it tries to authenticate, then authentication fails. Any idea why? Yes I'm using the right password, lol. I have a couple of my domains on google mail services, and I set those up using these settings just fine and everything online looks like it's pointing to these being the right settings... hmmm?
Thanks!
Works fine for me on RCMix5.9.1.

How do I set up the email for Windows Live hotmail? I have a college email with it, and I can't figure out the pop3/smtp servers. Is it easier to use an app instead? Anyone tried one?
I tried pop3.live.com and smtp.live.com and they don't work.

Under accounts/sync, add a server you mean? Only options are corporate, facebook and google. I tried just adding under corporate anyway, and it can't connect to server.
If it's windows mail then it might be outlook. There's an option in your email where it shows you the settings you have to enter on your phone.

Use the email app not the gmail app, and just sign in
or you can use k-9 email app
Try this. i use this for my windows live email that my school has provided.
ie. choose only one from pop and imap. smtp you need that for outgoing emails.
your username could be your whole email address.
POP setting
Server name: pod51000.outlook.com
Port: 995
Encryption method: SSL
IMAP setting
Server name: pod51000.outlook.com
Port: 993
Encryption method: SSL
SMTP setting
Server name: pod51000.outlook.com
Port: 587
Encryption method: TLS
Fixed it, set it up as an exchange account and m.hotmail.com. I just had to change my username to my entire email address. It's working now. Thanks. Now if I could just figure out why my gps my location stopped working. That's another thread.

My mom and dad have yahoo mail accounts, which I set up in the default mail app for them, and now they have yahoo's app, and let me tell you, most all of the questions they ask me needing help revolve around yahoo not working right or something.
I can't say definitively, but yahoo seems to have a lot of problems... On THEIR end.
I dropped yahoo like a bad habit a long time ago.
I recommend setting up email forwarding form your Yahoo account to your Gmail account. Problem solved!
When you set it up manually do you use these settings:
Incoming Server Settings
Username: <yourusername>@yahoo.com
Password: Your Password
IMAP Server: imap.mail.yahoo.com
Port: 993
Security Type: SSL (accept all certificates)
IMAP path prefix: blank
Outgoing Server Settings
SMTP Server: smtp.mobile.mail.yahoo.com
Port: 587
Security Type: None
Require Sign In: Checked
Username: <yourusername>@yahoo.com
Password: Your password

I might want to do this for my mom. That's done through the account to be forwarded (yahoo), the destination (gmail), or both?
I can find out on my own, but if you drop back in and want to give me an easy answer that's ok, too.

Lrn2srch, n00b! Lolol
You have to set it up in yahoo, I don't remember if you set anything up in gmail, but you do have to click a link to confirm. If yahoo doesn't show the forwarding option, change the zone to yahoo asia. That's how mine is set so I can enable pop3.
